Trolley Problem Quest

The 10th Trolley
You didn't pull the lever, letting every cancer patient die.

Dear lord! There's blood everywhere! I think you just abetted the single greatest global tragedy, and people are... not happy. Thank heavens you're not legally liable for their deaths, or you'd never be allowed near a trolley lever again. At least the cancer cure made it out; just a shame there's no one left to actually be treated. And with the deaths of millions, people are wanting some pretty radical change...

People Murdered: 15
People Let Die: 11 + every global cancer victim
Funerals Disrupted: 1
Families Reunited: 1
Cars Totaled: 1
Shiny Levers Pulled: 1
Misattributed Blame for Capitalism: 1
Cancer Cured: 1

There is a runaway trolley barreling down the street. Currently, it's poised to kill 5 people that have been working to create far more comprehensive reforms on trolley safety, as previous efforts have been deemed insufficient. You are standing next to a lever that, if pulled, would redirect the trolley towards 1 person galvanizing global unrest against the system that allowed such a tragedy, murdering them and delaying their radical efforts. However, do to a recent change in local trolley ordinances, pulling said lever will now result in your lever privileges being temporarily revoked until the next trolley accident.

Do you pull the lever?

Look, it's one person.

How much global unrest can one person create?

EDIT: Actually? Fuck it, I'm not letting go of the lever.

They don't like how we pull the lever, we don't pull the lever. That's basically the one argument every police union has ever made and it's worked pretty well for them so far.

Not killing that one trolley safety guy mildly inconvenienced us. Kill them all.

Well so much for bureaucratic reform; pretty wild that a world-wide tragedy only had that many to respond. I'm sure such a lackluster effort won't backfire spectacularly, right? Actually, what happened to that other guy?

After the deaths of the trolley reform council left world governments paralyzed with indecision, a nearby advocate would become further motivated, eventually forming the "Off-Trackers" political group to address the floundering systems (both legally and not). Swiftly declared a criminal group, they would remain a minor faction; up until another trolley-based incident further riled up their supporters...

There is a runaway trolley barreling down the street. Currently, it's poised to kill 5 "innovators" infamous for explorative labor practices and workers' rights violations. You are standing next to a lever that, if pulled, would redirect the trolley towards 1 "self-made" billionaire who patented the cure to cancer and inflated its cost out of reach for most households, murdering them.

However, do to the civil unrest sweeping the globe, unauthorized pulling of levers could result in you being mistaken for an Off-Tracker and local officials acting accordingly.

I hadn't meant for this to be "Ending Capitalism One Trolley at a Time"; but hey, it was an interesting direction.

[X] Push the button that is labeled 'Multi-Track Drift' located next to the lever.

This is the correct answer. We can't be criticized for hitting a button, after all it's not a lever. And consider that we don't want to be seen as targeting billionaires lest our objectivity is called into question. Best just to hit everyone.
