...ugh. I know I've committed to chasing the sun, for now, but that doesn't mean we need to fight in the tournament we have no way at all of winning this week. I'd really rather try for the Thunder Wave and do East next week.

By doing East first like the current lead vote, we risk fighting Nemona both times. And so getting a lot less than we could otherwise. And hurting Mary in the process.

Unfortunately, my three week plan only has time for one of the tournaments, so I picked the one that has a 95% chance of getting Roland enough XP to level. Hence the name of the plan.

Fun linguistics fact I realized while remembering that we're in PokéSpain.

The Spanish word for steel is "acero".

Trails of Cold Steel is also taking place at approximately the same time as another Trails game, Trails from Zero (and the first game overlaps with Zero's sequel, Trails to Azure, but that's not important right now).

The Spanish word for zero is cero.

So in a sense, we have Senderos de Acero and Senderos de Cero happening at the same time right now (be prepared for some weird headlines from Rime if the timelines stay the same).

What's really amusing to me is that the final boss music for Trails into Reverie (a de facto epilogue for both the Cold Steel and Zero/Azure series) is called "The Perfect Steel of Zero".

Or in Spanish, "El Acero Perfecto de Cero".

I liked it anyway.

I seriously worry about Mary's mental health with the East Tournament though. Even more than we already should be worried.

Y'all voted for AP Hell, I'm just playing Virgil here.

If there's a big rally for Foundations West though I think we'll live, it's just riskier and we might have to skip the gym research action later.

I'd honestly rather skip the research option.

I'm fine with failing the gym. Less fine with pitting Mary directly against Nemona until her obsession is over. And I really want that Thunder Wave.

In all honesty, I think that a monthly "rival" battle isn't any worse than staying distant. It's still feeding the obsession, to be sure, but so are literally all of our actions. Facing Nemona and her complete friendly disinterest in us might even help Mariana wake up a little faster. Or it might not. I just do numbers and vibes.

Well darn. Good bye Thunderwave TM we hardly knew ye...... welp time to see what the hell is in Mezagosas current shops. I kinda wanted to have 5/10 of Mesagoza explored before a shopping spree to see if we got more shops/stock avaible but eh, ill live. Things to note for this little trip will probably be Renne stuff like a bed, mineral or metals for Ruby and.... idk something dietary for Roland? Maybe something strenght related? We already have that TM we got from Katie so idk....

Also no library (I think that hurts me more than anything else actually) and the Harder tourney of the 2, the Aerial Ace TR would be delectable but we are unlikely to get it, ehh at least we know which pokemon Nemona has that can learn it if she does win the tourney.
Oh yeah also Theodora bonding.

So we made it to the semi finals? Eh at least we got some decent exp....

I wonder exactly how the extra money from nemona bond would work, like is she just giving it to people who she knows and also gave her a good fight?

Just gotta remember it's training and we more than met our goals there. And maybe Erika will get a better handle on what's going on with us after this.

So that's Roland at 3-badge strength right there, add in the other tournament and we might actually get that second badge… and probably faceplant on the third unless we can get Renne to bond 3 by then.

It'll be good regardless.

Even if we fail at the 3rd gym, the fact we speed-ran the 2nd gym means there's an FE out there where we don't have to worry about Gym Actions aha.

Three badges is perfectly doable, but I feel like we've debated long enough to have talked that conversation out.

Personally, I'm interested in those new training actions for specific types, seems interesting.

I do want to go exploring though, getting to know our main city thoroughly could be good for us and Mariana, beyond getting fed more delicious world building. Like if, for whatever reason, we need to find some secret tunnels into a fortified base that could be called a dungeon or final boss arena, it would be nice to go "Oh yeah? Secret tunnels? Found those months ago, actually."
