Right, let's see some maybe-notable posts...
Day 1:
Just to be sure, why are some people nominating Young Pyromancer? 99L was because of the suspicious roleclaiming, but I'm drawing a blank with YP.
Right now, I'm really only set 99L as scum, with my concerns about the roleclaiming. I'm inherently suspicious of first day roleclaiming or hinting.
I feel like some powerwolfing is afoot, but I'm taking one thing at time.
[x] Vote NinetyNineLies
D2
I'm also going say that maybe people should stop with the roleclaiming, especially if they're going to be vague as hell about the role. It apparently only makes you target and we need players with powers on the town side with the way the game is shaping up.
But since so many people have gone public, it might help if 99L, YP, and Hugh did clarify. I'm conflicted about this, though, because I don't want a situation where we're killing players with special roles while we get picked off by scum.
I'm going to be rereading the thread for a less disjointed perspective later, but my general impressions at this point are:
In the town category, I have Rosen (who has generally been working on solves and offering good advice with town in mind), Ori (their posting has been a little inconsistent, probably due to the holidays, but I generally get blunt advice and town vibes from them), Logos (who probably rivals Absum for the most detailed posting precisely laying their mindset and who I agree with most about the state of town so far this game), and Absum (who has been drilling down on low posters in a decent way without much fanfare in addition to concise posting about the game state and their headspace). For me, these players are town core and who I more or less am certain of right now.
I'm going to say at this point that I definitely feel like we've been having a sort of extended Day 1 with no solid reads or tells despite having a night's worth of information. I'm unclear why we seem to not be drilling down on 99L more for role information, especially given his lack of satisfactory answers, but I'd appreciate a explanation from him or someone who may have caught what I'm missing. I'm less concerned about Walker given his disclosure about breaking with Clown Bean's strategy yesterday, but mostly because I had felt Bean had strong town vibes to begin with and I'm giving him a grace period since coming in from subbing can be rough. Similarly, I remember Byzantine mentioned needing some time due to family concerns, so I haven't been scrutinizing him much given the drama with ambiguous roles and low posters.
My most likely Scum reads at the moment are Hugh (who had me suspicious from the last night phase with the roleblock comment and I haven't seen much posting from) and Young Pyromancer (who also seems to have some role mystery going on from his comments). Dino I'm more inclined to trust now that we're hearing more from him.
People not mentioned are probably going to commented on in my next posts after my reread.
I'll note that Wiadi applies heavy pressure to Variable after this point. Does it continue to EoD?
Rosen's just Clear Town, and if Variable and YP don't disengage, I think YP is too. As is whoever restarted the Variable post at EoD. If YP and Wiadi are both continuing against Variable, this makes a strong town core.
I would say you're correct but personally based on what I did read of last game (+ Variable's posting style in general) I think this is within town Variable range. Though I believe that was his first game so could be within his scum range also, but not really feeling that myself.
hum hum. We'll see if this continues? Feels a bit hypocritical to be on this, but hey, it is definitely a nontown point even if it's not one only nontown have.
I get why Rosen is voting Variable but this is just so fucking earnest and on brand fml.
I'm so fucking tilted atm, tbh I think I'm going to keep on YP, he's probably town but that move was just so fucking terrible that I'm just unwilling to let it go, like none of that ever needed to be said in thread it was not subtle in slightest and makes so many fucking assumptions like bro that is so out of pocket to someone you think is town.
That's like why it has to be maf right because I don't see why you literally are trying to get me killed otherwise.
So like
On the one hand, this post feels bad with hindsight.
On the other hand, IIRC, Ori pushed away from the EoD YP wagon before it really solidified, which was probably crucial for hitting Variable in the end. So you know.
Not sure why I'm still quoting this.
I guess other people could also notice the post on readthroughs, so I should keep this for my perspective instead of just deleting this whole section.
[X] Vote hugh_donnetono
Right now major wagons fall between YP/Hugh with a minor variable wagon that to me feels like we just end up tvt with nothing good gained as a result of following through. Between YP and Hugh at the bare minimum YP is playing the game even if I disagree harshly with signaling and some of the motions they've used so far. Which leaves me to focus on Hugh who is basically non-entity at this stage. The only other Non-Entity right now is Atoms which is frustrating.
@Usili 2.0 can future posts between days be marked as informational plz, thank you! @.@ Almost messed up the tally as I made this post.
Yourself. 100% Yourself. I despise teh concept of self-resolving and should you flip scum that immediately raises red flags on anyone who pushed that concept further. Outside of this probably YP on pure infoyeet but I feel that doesn't necessarily end up as an actual scum yeet. Hugh generates info not off anything they've done but rather wagonomics. A Variable yeet is likely to paint -Rosen/Wiadi in a bad light which leads to potential double misyeet imo at this state. It might develop further and change, but def not the direction for this D2 I feel. D3 maybe? We'll see.
I feel others would get an idea on if this post is notable or not more than myself.
Player List:
- Cyricubed 150% scum for making me do this. Monster. (Seriously though, probably town, has been pushing for more activity and useful responses.)
- -Rosen Neutral. i cannot realistically get a good read on Rosen. The difference between rosen town posting and rosen scum posting is too subtle.
- Absum town lean. I've been liking what I have seen, though more would always be appreciated. They do seem to be taking a similar approach to me which is nice if Imm not just being pocketed
- Logos/ComiTurtle. Probably a town lean, but I'll see what comi has when he catches up. Looking good so far.
- hugh_donnetono. Scum lean. Inactive and memeing with no attempt to do anything serious. But he may just be fooling around because early game/holidays
- Nanimani neutral? Any impression I get here just kinda slides off. They are refusing to follow their gut out of the logic that their gut failed them last game, but this seems to have left them in a rut, so rethinking that may be for the best. It makes it hard to determine if they are town of not when they are justifying a significant behavioral switch this way.
- dinomannitro6 who?
- Nopeguy who? i'm not entirely impressed with their response to our questioning of each other, but I may be being unfair. They did seem to at least try to consider the angles. @Nopeguy you said you didn't have much of a feel for absum, can you give me someone you do have an opinion on?
- A Bunch Of Atoms neutral. Did eventually show up eod 1, and has been around, but hasn't done all that much notable in any way. But this is fairly typical of them in any (non-morgans) alignment
- Shalmoa very active and pushing the game state. Seems town, and is unlikely to be scum paired with Rosen, as two power wolves walking all over town feels unlikely. If this is the case though bleh.
- Byzantine I'm town, not much else to say here.
- NinetyNineLies town lean. 99L has been responding well to the pressure and I don't really think the initial pressure was particularly well-founded. Not overly suspicious to target, but still within 99L's town rage
- Young Pyromancer town lean. He's acting like his town self. He's actually usually less stupidly outgoing with the silly ideas and constant info leak attempts as scum, because he does that in the scum chat instead.
- Ori town read. Seems a bit lost but does seem to be trying to herd this army of cats into actually being productive. Could use a bit more push tbh.
- A Wise Hermit town? Probably just a town newbie. If not they are aggressively running with playing that way. The amount of effort being put in earlier does seem unlikely for new scum, unless they dove head first into the coaching. Still for now I'll shelve that paranoia
- Wiadi scum lean honestly they feel a lot like last game. Where they were scum that did a good job of playing town. So are they now actually town or are they scum?
- Variable is being Variable. Neutral, for now, as everything he has done has been in line with Variable's shown behavior as both town and scum. He gets overly stuck on ideas/approaches and never lets go, even after being told it is a bad idea.
- Clown/Walker I was town reading Clown, but Walker has been odd. Probably still town, but this is a slot to keep an eye on
wheeeeeee another post.
So I did reread the thread (all 55 pages, goddamn), with particular focus on
@hugh_donnetono , along with considering some of the criticisms of my approach here and ... I'm not really feeling just voting Hugh for the sake of a policy wagon, particularly since it does seem like Hugh has been playing game and trying to solve. Arguably, until about Sunday, he has been posting fairly regularly and seem like he was trying to solve while making substantial commentary.
forums.sufficientvelocity.com
I don't know anyone had previously thought him to inactive before Sunday, but I did until this reread. I'm more or less willing to give him an opportunity since I'll be on for EoD.
this feels like an odd statement from maf in possible danger towards the top wagon? Vibes are flying by my head, but they're not hitting me.
Before Sunday, he was speculating on who wrote those public posts and who killed Roach. I admit that the activity gap is a real concern, but it could be real-life drama or even just awkwardness about being the target of a wagon here. I admit that thought this is a game, it does put under pressure if you are competitive.
I'm willing to bet he is not scum, though, so I want the vindication of not being part of the wagon.
yeah, it's probably just this, huh? red mine.
[x] Vote Variable
I want to push this up as a better alt wagon.
Yeah, okay, Ori's the one that put Variable up as wagon, after Rosen stopped trying and said he would just vote hugh. Ori very town.
I was a seer when I said that this would happen. Hugh would show up, say words minutes to an hour before EoD, the Town would flake and devolve into discussion, and then we would be forced to make a vote based on low to mid content information
By God I wish that Hugh could clear his name with a definitive post in a couple of posts here, because I am freaking out right now
Radio silence for two days, however? For you to post right now? With no previous notice or without informing us at all? An hour before EoD, the most strategically placed moment when you can make the most anti-town move possible while making no hard reads or overt defenses? I'm sorry, even if this isn't scum behavior, it is incredibly destabilizing to such a point in where I am still willing to vote you out just for that fact
You still have time, please make it good.
btw, uh... not liking this whole line of discussion? Especially what I highlighted red, in hindsight?
Ah mb I'm eating and it slipped my mind. I'm going to place a vote on Variable since he's been looking a bit scummy, and also would give the most info (in my opinion)
[X] Vote Variable
Early in the wagon. This is good actually. Probably the most notable post Atoms has made this game.
fuckingf fine this is complete ass but I'd rather Variable over hugh/YP atm because learnign about the 2nd game has me doubting so
[X] Vote Variable
This and Atoms was definitely turning point?
Which is good because I was seriously doubting Absum at this point in the skim-through, so the vote being here is v. gud.
hnnng no, I think YP town is too likely to be worth knowing his side for certain.
[X] Vote Variable
So this vote is the one that prevented it from being a tie between Variable and YP and just made it a Variable wagon. I do not think votes after this are particularly town-shaded.
...yes that includes mine. I took too much time typing it to post it before dino could.
for the record I hate that I was in a sensxe the Zaealix vote origign, the D2 huigh vote origin and now also gona be the cause of the eventual Variable swing
I should not be in that position, there are too many vets for that, youre making me paranoid af
this is both true and means that Absum did good.
It's especially bad since variable does always miss eod, so can't try to stop this swing.
byz
Byz, Variable posted like ten posts above this.
Anyways, that's my skimthrough done. Honestly, it was nowhere near thorough enough, but I was never gonna get anything thorough done. Barely got this done.
YP/Absum/Rosen/Atoms/Ori town. Wiadi probably as well, but I really wish they were around at EoD so I could see if they would've tried changing course near EoD times or if they would've kept arguing for Variable.
Regardless, good town core established. I wish I were better at finding scum though. My top suspicion was kinda blown out of the water during the ending train.
