To Build a Universe (A God Quest)

Ugggggh, dear Nur.

So, you are telling me that the Write In wasn't about Sentient Stars empowered by the experiences of mortals, but for the creation of souls?

WallFlower, my dear...Why did you bring me the pain of Knowledge? Don't you know sweet ignorance is the last barrier between a man's fragile mind and insanity?

Damn, that's a nice quote. Sounds Lovecraftian.

I'm sorry, you can ignore the explanation.
I forgot that the god of science is also the god of insanity.

That's actually hilarious
No, it's fine, but I'm afraid it's a little late. I'm already halfway through the Magic Write In, and I'm afraid it would take too long to rewrite the whole segment. I'm sorry, but the Sentient Stars will have to stay for now.

That's alright, then:smile: Part of why I play these types of games is in order to increase my communication skills. I tend to learn more from failing horribly than I do from succes.

Would you guys prefer the Meeting of the Gods as an Interlude? I'm asking cause I personally would prefer to do so, as it would be quite more clean to write the personalities of the gods, but maybe some of you prefer the meeting this turn.

Year 2AT, Turn 3
You smile, observing how the world grows and becomes less empty. Your children have begun to learn what their purpose is, and what they must do. But, you are feeling prideful, not fulfilled. You have started something, but it will be long before your efforts can be seen as complete.

So, you get to work once more. And you know exactly the thing you want to create, and who to go to.

•••

"You wish for my help?" Asks Uhmera, incredulous. Even without seeing her face, you can feel the surprised look she probably has right now.

"Of course, my child. Is there something wrong with this request?"

"No, that's not the problem at all, Almighty Nur. I just wonder, why not ask Nodheia, who is an entity of light? I might not be up to the task, Mighty Creator, nor able to uphold the faith you have in me."

You lower one of your arms, and leave it in her shoulder, with a recomforting intent, which seems to be effective at that.

"I'm choosing you, my dear Uhmera, because I know you will take this as a serious matter, and I doubt that you will just give up if it gets too difficult. Besides, you are one of my strongest creations, and for that I have faith in you."

Uhmera immediatley takes reflexive posture, as she takes in the information you have given her. Eventually, she nods.

"Understood, Creator. Let's start making those stars"

•••

Time has passed, but both of you remain sincronized in peace, mixing your energies and sending them towards the void. You have decided that these stars must fill the Void with light, yet they will be empowered by the lives of the mortals, as the idea is that they will feed from their experiences passively.

Eventually, Uhmera and you decide that the deed is done, and that both of you have created enough light for the void. You open your eyes…

Creating the Sentient Stars: 13 + 10 (Uhmera's Contribution) = 23 Failure!

...only to meet small pecks of almost minimal light across the void. You wonder for a second if this project has failed.

To test it, you creat a small and weak orb of sentience, and set it near the closest peck of light. Through your primordials eyes, you observe how the peck of light drinks from this entity composed only of memories and experiences. As it's only composed of that, and it's quite weak, the orb vanishes, while the peck of light begins to glow brighter.

A read into it's memories teaches you that the only things that knows is what it has taken from the orb, so that means that the star itself can't gain new experiences, or thoughts, yet it will likely compose a personality based on the mixture of thoughts and experiences it has feed.

"That doesn't seem what we had in mind, Creator. Have I done something wrong?" Asks Uhmera, anxious. You chuckle and rub kindly her helmet.

"Don't worry dear. It's not what we had in mind, that's for sure, but I created a weak entity right now. I can guess that if it were...a Lightbringer, as it's the first entity that comes in mind, the process would have probably been slower, and less harmful for the host."

"So...Are these things bad, or not?" Says Uhmera. She is clearly ready to destroy these things, one by one, even if it takes eternity itself to destroy all the stars. You look at her and then back at the star.

"I don't think they are doing this with harmful intentions… This is likely their form of growing up, and learning, yet it's true that it can be harmful for others. For now, we will leave them be, and observe their behaviour. Anyway, thanks for everything, Uhmera. You succeded my expectatives."

"I'm grateful for your compliments, Grand Creator Nur. I'm at your command, so don't doubt to ask for my help if you are ever in need to do so." Says Uhmera, bowing respectfully.

•••

As the months pass by, you work on your next grand project. A Universal Law, which will bind all denizens of this realm to it.

The Fundemental Rules of Magic.

The Goddess of Magic run away, so currently, "mortal" magic is quite open to interpretation, and it has no stablished limits. That has to change.

You've been thinking about it, and you have reached the conclusion that Magic should be based on the Arts established by the avian, so that magic remains under her areas of influence. The last thing you need right now is a rogue Goddess of Magic and Insanity with desires of revenge.

You also decide that all beings capable of using magic will have the same amounts of magical power, yet their limits will be based on the individual's creativity. No mortal will ever truly be born with more raw power than another, but the number of things they can do will be decided by their imagination.

After thinking about it for a while, it makes sense that no magic can be truly considered good or evil, as its use will vary depending on the personality of its users. Not all mortals can be good and imperfect, because if they were, they would grow arrogant, with no mistakes to learn from. Derivating from that same thought process, it would make sense for all creatures that are capable of sentience to have a natural ability for magic, but having to work to develop and perfect it.

Eventually you come across a giant problem, which is the doubt if your offsprings are also restricted by these set of rules. In theory, it would make sense that all of them can use magic with ease, but then comes the question of what would make them different from the Goddess of Magic, or instead, what would make the Goddess of Magic different from them?

Eventually, you decide that it's better to not stir problems. Entities like you use their powers by filling the empty fluxes of the Void. They do their own thing, let the Goddess of Magic do hers as well. She's still your daughter after all.

With this Universal Law established, you raise all of your hands, while your horns start to shine. Green energy slowly but surely build ups inside you until your physical body can no longer hold it in, and so you release all this energy contained inside you.

Creating Artistic Magic: 70 + 30 (Omakes) + 3 (votes) = 103! Absolute Succes!

Immediately, a wave of pure green power covers the entire void, eclipsing the miniscule light of the Sentient Stars. All of your sons get knocked over, the Jellyfish are pushed, causing massive earthquakes inside them, and even the Golden Reckoning moves an entire meter from its original position.

You lower your arms, feeling slightly exhausted for the first time since you came to be, but the feeling disappears immeadiatley. Your Primordial Vision reveals something...beautiful.

Instead of the darkness of the Void, you see massive streams of green light which cover everything. They shine with glorious and radiant power, and generate bening waves to their surroundings. Curious about the streams, you decide to bathe in one of them, and you recieve...so many ideas. It's almost...too much. But at the same time, it's enjoyable.

You decide to gain omnipresence, to understand how this works. You can see all of your creations, dark spots of nothing which in a place like this, feel as an inverse of your creative nature of the Void, almost if the roles were reversed.

As far as your understanding goes, these streams are similar to the Void, but instead of filling, you would take part of the streams to fill your Void. For a second, you worry about the streams running out one day, but you quickly calm down, as you realise that this Realm is infinite, and unending, so there's no assurance of magic ever running out.

One last check upon this place reveals that none of your creations has seemed to move while you were looking around, so it's fair to believe that time moves differently around here.

With all this information, you decide to return to the Void. You are quite proud of your work here.

•••

At last, the year nears its end, and you decide that the time for floating around the Void is over. You, and all of your offsprings must endure resting on hard mass made of absolute nothing, and it's neither pleasant nor enjoyable

So you have decided that you must have a home to call your own, with rooms, as well as a throne for each of you. So you start to work, nonstop, creating massive multicoloured blocks, which shall serve as the material for construction.

Creating the Castle: 81 + 20 (Omakes) + 4 (number of votes)= 105! Absolute Succes

Slowly but surely, you build, with the Void being filled by your grunts and breaths. You strike the stones, to slowly mold them, and whenever your fist lands lighting emerges, feeling the air with the smell of creation. And eventually, you finished the Castle.

It took you a one hundred and five days to build it, and during its creation, you brought forth three mortal races.

The first ones came from your sweat. They were massive, red-skinned, and most remarkably, eyeless. Yet, despite their lack of vision, they proved themselves as worthy builders, who helped you build the castle. They were named the Holnean, proud builders, with the strength and endurance capable of breaking the stones you broke with one punch, with three of their own, and capable of enduring the strongest of fires.

The second race came from your blood. You punched without building up enough strength, and the impact caused a small drop of ichor from your physical form. The ichor hit the burning stones, and immediately exploded into flames, bringing forth a race of Hippogriffs, yet they were smarter and stronger. Using the remnants of your power, they descended upon the Jellyfish, settling their nests on their mountains, and drinking on their waters.

The last race came from your spit, which landed on several statues, which became alive in a matter of seconds. This race of Gargoyles immediatley started worked in creating tools for the Holneans, so that they could build more effectively and lease dangerous. Their bodies of stone made them unable to suffer the heat of fire from their quickly built forges.

With the help of the Holneans and the Nuurian Gargoyles, you finished a glorious castle, worthy of the Gods. The Castle seemingly has the exact amount of rooms for the people who are currently in it, with each personal room changing to it's owner's tastes. The castle also contains a kitchen, a dungeon, and a forge.

At the center of the palace, a masive golden tree lives, with it's leaves covering the entire ceiling, making it impossible to determine where it even ends. From it's brances, delicious and precious silver fruit grows, which apparentley has absolute healing properties.

At the bottom of the tree, almost as if it had emerged from it, lays Nur's throne, a piece of intricate work, made of the same wood of the tree. The hall in which this throne is located is the feasting hall, where the Sons and Daughters of Nur shall celebrate their glories.

At the opposite end of the hall, a large fire burns in a fireplace, which is named as the "Flame of Family". As long as this fire burns, the Gods shall be united in comraderie, love and friendship.

And it's in this hall that you convoke the First Meeting of the Gods.

(Continued in "What do you mean with 'it's not Free Real State?'")

The end of the year has come, and, dear yourself, has it been a busy one! This year you have created the Sentient Stars, the Realm of Magic, and a the Castle of the Gods, and indestructible structure where all Gods shall reside. You have also created three mortal races, the Holneans, the Ichorian Hippogriffs, and the Nuurian Gargoyles.

Here's what your offsprings have created by the end of the year:

d50= 47
Rul happily enters each Jellyfish and barks. He barks and barks, and barks, and with each bark, the oasises and seas are filled with beautiful trees and plants, each of them unique and precious. Many of these vegetables produce edible fruit, and edible liquids, while some are beautiful, yet spinous, as they need to protect their beauty. For some reason, one of the Jellyfish only produces purple fruits. Weird.

Eventually, Rul barks one last time, and in the exact center of each Jellyfish, emerges a massive tree. At first sight, it may seem nothing out of the extraordinary, but closer inspection reveals that all of these plants and vegetables are actually alive and sentient, with the giant trees being the smartest and more knowledgeable of them all. As soon as the appear, some Hippogriffs start to settle their nests in their trees.
If one listens, you can hear the plants and trees, talking to each other through the wind. What are they saying? No one knows but them.

d50= 5!
Rutra barks as well, trying to demonstrate how much better she is at this "game" than her brother.

It absolutely backfires.

From the sand emerge several… abominations. They go on four legs, and have long and sharp teeth. Immediately, they start to attack Rul and Rutra, who even with their godly powers, are forced to retreat. The Sand-Wolves, as Rutra calls them, are deadly hunters, with supernatural abilities related to sand. They are determined to kill their prey once they locate it, and can enter large periods of berserk wrath, when they are practically unkillable and unstoppable. Thankfully, they seem to disappear with any type of light.

This species immediately enters into conflict with the Ichorian Hippogriffs. (Secret Rolls will happen each turn to determine who wins.)

d50=16
Meanwhile, Nodheia tries to teach her creations about the art of the fire and light, but the Lightbringers aren't that interested in what their mother has to teach them. They play, shoot beams of light to the other gods, and generally, being an annoyance.

Eventually, Nodheia combusts into a stream of fire, which shines through the void as a star. This manages to bring the attention of the Lightbringers back to her, and explain them what they have to do. Instead of listening to her, the Lightbringers decide to descend in the Jellyfish, and play with the plants, who enjoy bathing in their light. Even the Sand-Wolves can't reach them, due to them temporarily turning into simple sand in the presence of light. Nodheia is only stopped by Ontos and Miona, who fear the damage Nodheia can cause to the Jellyfish if she were to enter as a fireball.

d50=38
Miona, ever the opposite of her sister, spends her time with Ontos, who even takes her to visit the Pair of Insanity, who are interested by the newcomer. She quickly establishes friendship with the Goddess of Magic and Arts, due to the Owl creature being fascintaed by her singing.

Also, Miona has started to develop a method of comunication with Ontos. It is based on clapping, and it follows really complicate patterns, but for now, she is the only one capable of translating whatever Ontos wants to say.

d50=14

"So why exactly are you here? You left without a warning, but now you come to our progenitor, expecting to be well received?" Says Uhmera.

"I'm here because I made a mistake. And I need Nur's advice." Replies the four legged avian. "Tell Nur that Agur'Kha wishes for an audience"

((Continued on "Arms, arms, and more arms"))

d50=48

"Nur, my Creator. I believe you will be interested in what I have achieved."

"There's not much that impresses me, my dear son."

"Please, identify to me as Sandeus. And I believe have achieved the key… to infinite knowledge."

((Continued in "Knowledge is…"))

d50=23

Krehphine starts to work in her own addition to this Universe. Feeling that Nur already monopolizes creation on this plane, she decides to use Video Game magic to create an entire subplane of existence. Here, she established the Realm of Dreams, an infinite grey desert where all dreams will happen, slowly but surely altering this boring plane.

And she is right! Every sentient creature rests every once in a while, and when they do, they come to this place. Sadly, reentrance is aleatory, so no one is able to experience twice the same dream, but that's hardly Krehphine's problem.

d50=25

With a handwave and a dice roll, Ge'Eme releases in the Jellyfish the Wind Spirits. They are playful, yet emotional, as their forms modify depending on how they are feeling.

Mostly, they spend their time creating Sandstorms, and playing with the Lightbringers, with them being the only ones capable of interacting with the Wind Spirits without overexhausting themselves.

d50=33

Ontos spends the rest of the year really busy, either learning to communicate with Miona, talking with either Agur'Kha or Sandeus, taking care of the Jellyfish, or making the castle of the Gods more habitable. But thankfully, that doesn't mean he doesn't have time to add anything to this world.

Ontos grabs earth from the ground, and water from the seas, and spends several days creating multiple figures. Once he's done, Ontos hugs them, one by one, and with each hug, the figures gain life and sentience. Ontos can really give them a name, so he asks Miona to give them one for him.

After getting the Goddess to calm down of laughter (apparently, he looks really funny covered in mud), she decides to name these creatures Muddlers. She says it seems appropriate, and Ontos can't but agree.

What will you do next?

Remember, only one Write In per player, as well as one vote per player (don't vote on your own Write In's, ya dummies) Only the three most voted actions will be accepted.

A 48hour Moratorium begins now. You may discuss this turn, write Omakes, or get ready for Next Turn/Interludes. After the moratorium is over, write your Write In.

By the way, you guys can do Side quests now. Sidequests are canon Interludes that are generated by other gods, so you have to choose them. That will generate an Interlude.

Sidequests are also turn limited, so after 2 turns, a Sidequest becomes unavailable.

Huh ya know I was gonna suggest making demon's under the jellies for anyone too curious for their own good ala Dwarf Fortress, now I'm not certain our god's will make em for us with these abominable rolls

Alright, besides the stars we had a lot of good rolls this turn. We definitely need to fix those stars if we want to keep them in our universe. Plus we need to check out what Agur'kha mad.

Alright I really want to implement chemistry. Does anyone have a problem with me creating the fundamental particles of the universe this turn?

I don't mind it just thought we'd have the god's do it for us, were gonna need the world's to get bigger either through maturation or having a breeding grounds for future world's. I'm thinking in that line to have some coral galaxies and extreme biome jellies in some cases.

It's statistically better for everyone to agree on 3 votes potentially less. So, I'll try to create the chemistry write-in now, so that people can change it how they'd like.

[]Conceptual Chemistry. There's many things that have been created, though the very fundamentals they lie upon are still empty. What are they composed of at the very basic level? This was currently happenstance uncertainty, a big mystery to tie them all together, and yet there should be more. Logic and reason, yet keeping with the very nature of creation itself it should be based on concepts. Each one intermingling with the others to create complex compounds allowing for more advanced items to be made. They can even change from one to another or be created by sufficient powers of energy of some sort properly utilized. That being said much like atoms in our world their our various ions and other states an element can be in. With the outer core representing the abstraction of the very specific element with those of lower abstraction levels being considered negative while those of higher abstraction considered positive. This combined with the neutron of the particle as it were is simply the many different sub-types it might possess. Hunting by itself might talk about hunting, fishing, trapping and the like while all still being the same principle particle, Glass of water can angle into either one of it's avenues of glass or water in this fashion, and others of that fashion. In the very small scale however, each one of them looks like a miniature representation of the concept in question. Just a note all of these do have an object or material related to them Hunting is close to the claws and fangs of a beast for instance it's simply due to it's correlation being closer in line to hunting then claws or fangs.
-[]Chemistry's Purpose Due to it's ability to change into other states, and it's ability to make compounds. This is similar to dancing in a fashion, as it allows you to change something to another in a more scientific mind-set. It also allows for the easy integration of various things into existence in the mass-scale. However it's purpose to humanity is akin to what real-world chemistry provides. It serves as a bridge to other more complicated Sciences. Through it's use the creation of medicines and various compounds and items could be made. Someone might be able to dance gold into wine, but without this you can't change items on a mass scale. Science does something that magic fundamentally doesn't It provides replication, and repetition someone discovers how to make something with chemistry that can be used by everyone else if it's shared. However, don't be deceived by the fact I'm saying items, you could make someone feel something unadulterated joy or anger, literally imbue them with subterfuge making them a perfect spy, and the like. The problem of course is that knowledge of how it works isn't given to any race, and it's not an intuitive science. It requires discovery much akin to real world chemistry to discover how to best use it.
-[]Current Concepts: Glass of Water, Wealth, Purple, Life, Loyalty, Companion, Hunting, Wrath, Animal, Ambitious, Love, Time, Darkness, Chaos, Dream, Fate, Mysterious, Wind, Death, Light, Unity, Order, Sound, Music, Potential, Drawings, Knowledge, Insanity, Science, Innovation, Progress, Travel, Water, Earth, Habitation, Law, Ceramics, Concept, Books, Photographs, Sculptures, Dance, Theater, Application, Games, Heroes, Infiltration, Coercion, Deceit, Monster-Girl, Progenitor, Dragon, Myth, Horns, Robe, Plasma, Gift, Subterfuge, Human, Vanilla, Ice-cream, Primordial, Dice, Discussion, Alcohol, Pain, Cancer, Numbers, Eye, Empty, Emotion, Void, Paradox, Left, Right, Spark, Warrior, Elemental, Actor, Duplication, Creation, Hospitality, Youth, Good, Evil, Vengeance, War, Paths, Thresholds, Cooperation, Sky, Vegetation, Undeath, Transdimensionalism, Eldritch, Protagonists, Ascendance, Isekai, Trucks, Memory, History, Mind, and Body.
-[] Tweaked Particles: The Isekai Particle is only able to be created and imbued into other creations by gods, and the power that emanates from it can not link to Ascendance, and as such they'll perpetually be below the powers of the gods at absolute most a mere tenth of the power of the weakest of gods in an extremely specific facet at the expense of practically everything else. The isekai particle links reincarnates them into a different plane of existence so think of the dream world or any other Video-Game world created by gods or man.

I'm limiting it at 118 concepts. It's at 102 right now. So if someone wants to add more concepts, or remove a specific concept. Both are fine with me. Do you want to add Biopsies as a fundamental particle of the universe fine with me.

Or if you want me to change remove or add something to basic conceptual chemistry let me know.

I hope it's not a bad idea outright.

Wait one second.
Wasn't the original intention of this to make it so that write-in's could be written and tweaked to everyone's liking?
As such wouldn't it be fine to write the write-in provided no votes enter circulation? Since that is the most effective way to make a write-in to everyone's liking in my opinion.

Yeah, if you write Write Ins during the moratoriums as a discussion it's fine, in order to see the opinions and points of others.

By the way, not that I'm against it, cause I love complex Write In's, but if I understand right, Chemistry is the science equivalent of Magic, is that right?

Can you specify a little on the purpose of these particles, and what exactly do they bring into the world? Don't worry, I don't think it's bad, but I would like to understand this a little more.

Science is Science, and Magic is Magic.
The purpose of magic is to be used.
The purpose of science is to answer how the base reality works. This is answering what matter is composed of at the very fundamental level, and what rules they have. Akin to our real world Chemistry. Hence Conceptual Chemistry. However, I should probably mention how it can be used much like our modern day chemistry.

Hmmm does the magic system have to be limited to creativity?
Would be nice if raw ambition, lust, drive, and willpower could reach astronomical feats with burning desire.

How about the particle for undeath? Or a particle for transdimeonsalism
