To Build a Universe (A God Quest)

I usually go with their physical traits, and try to interpret the world from there.

The first ones came from your sweat. They were massive, red-skinned, and most remarkably, eyeless. Yet, despite their lack of vision, they proved themselves as worthy builders, who helped you build the castle. They were named the Holnean, proud builders, with the strength and endurance capable of breaking the stones you broke with one punch, with three of their own, and capable of enduring the strongest of fires.
Most of these are eyeless. The eyed ones will have a similar rank as our seers and priests, because they are able to look upon the gods.
Unable to see they Moina will be their most important goddess, because she gave them the ability to perceive. meanwhile Ontos is their god of 'darkness and mystery' he is the quite one who never talks. But at the same time they will recognize themselves in him, maybe they learned about echolocation from his clapping.
I also imagine them to be cold blooded, because of their resistance to fire and naturally drawn to Nodheia 'the warm one'.

I don't see how they'd be cold blooded since their based on blacksmith's they would naturally be able to take the heat to work on their projects, double for also being Jotun's their pretty much nature's wrath personified, but since it looks like it's implied they can be burned they ain't mad of fire just good old muscle and abs of steel.

1. I think that you are confusing their job with the Gargoyles
This race of Gargoyles immediatley started worked in creating tools for the Holneans, so that they could build more effectively and lease dangerous. Their bodies of stone made them unable to suffer the heat of fire from their quickly built forges.

2. Cold blooded in the sense that they can't produce their own heat, because they wouldn't need to do so.
The Holneans were born from Nur's sweat, the job of their ancestors was to cool Nur down.

The Gargoyles on the other hand are indeed "'unable to suffer' the heat of fire from their quickly built forges."

I tried practicing to 'write faster' with this omake, and I'm wondering how flat this story has fallen on it's face as a result.

Tale of Drying Mud

Our first migration was because our ancestral oasis had dried up.
Travel was more rare back then and we were not used to the many dangers.
Many Mudlers hardened as the spirits of light and wind dried them out.
Many Mudlers torn apart by the Sandwolves.
Many Mudlers give up and pray stay with the statues of the lost.

When our parrents were reduced to 10 Mudlers left and were about to give up. One began to sing and to clap, sing about their pains and cursed the dry winds. And then a spirit came to them and asked 'Why do you curse me so? Why can't you appreciate my dance?'
And the Mudlers sang how they where dry and how they needed water to remain mud.
'I will bring one drop of water from each oasis and each sea that I can find' it said realizing it's mistake.
And then it danced away and danced the water upwards. But it quickly found that it couldn't move and it sang to the other spirits of the wind and asked, 'I desire to bring this water to the Ontos' children, but I can not move now that I'm heavy with water. I ask of you to push me'
The spirits agreed to push and push and push.
And when the heavy spirit was above the Mudlers it slowed it's dance and the water fell down on the Mudlers revitalizing them enough with moisture necessary to complete their journey towards heir new oasis.

The youngest of the Mudlers asked the spirit for their name.
The spirit answered 'My name is Drizzle Cloud.'
After which they away danced with on the wind fickle like the spirits are.

And that child is why we sing and clap to when the clouds bring us bring us rain.

@Kakaluncha i have some questions about the gargoyles. Should help me with an omake I plan to write.
  • how many are there?
  • What's the average height of a gargoyle?
  • Do they have their own little area in the castle where they live?
  • Besides forging what else do they do around the castle?

Okay, so the answers are:
  • Around 140
  • 3 foot tall is the average.
  • They do have their own rooms, and each rooms is shared between 12 gargoyles
  • Well, they guard, and also work as part time servants.

Btw, I guess voting's over. I will check as soon as I can the results.

Interlude almost finished, I just had a lot in my mind recently and it was difficult for me to advance.

Thank you for your patience.

Here ya go, unfortunate souls. I shall start writing the interludes now.

I have some ideas for mortal gods but it seems to be the opposite of what people have planned since they introduced magic instead of science. Basically my idea was to create a religion but have it be based off of modern knowledge. So the more that the faithful learn about the world, they would find it matches their holy texts exactly, thus making them even more devoted.

Stuff how like the sun created the solar system and powers all life on the planet. How they are all children of Gaia so they need to care for the planet as they do thier own parents.

Then for the 3 children of the Sun and Earth will be focused on mortal society instead of nature.

The priestest, eldest and caretaker of the dead and souls.

The Chieftain, god of leadership and wisdom.

The Warrior, youngest child but also the strongest who protects his siblings and the people.

We could still go the: "Sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science" route
I would recommend adapting references for sun and earth to the current setting though.

Yeah, the idea was for a more realistic universe. Like it couls still work on the solar system level. I dont know if their is a system inbthe jellyfish that creates new worlds. Do we even have gravity?

The idea seems to be to make it up as we go.

Gravity can be easily be replaced by air-pressure inside the jellyfish.
And most objects that float in the void wouldn't need gravity themselves to function.

And on the topic of creation of new worlds:
Finally, you end the year by giving birth to another entities, named Otnas, who you put in charge in taking care of the Jellyfish, while making sure they stay healthy, and that they mate with no inconvenience. Otnas will also have the important task of taming the newborn babies, and making sure they understand what's their purpose.

'Birth of the Polyp' was my attempt to expand on it explain how it could happen with the current magic system. but that is only 'likely canon'

Without any further alterations to the Art magic system. It does have a system, it works under. Since Science is explaining how the world works, Magic can be stated to work with that since it is a part of the world. That being said that's the only way this magic system could be construed for a science of any form.

Effectively a major principle of the System. Is personal talent and innovation effects and allows you to make use out of it. This causes inherent problems with replicability. Since absolutely no one is able to replicate the result that the original one didn't use to help do. Thus, it doesn't gel with the scientific methods rigors of science. However, it still has a measurable impact, and the specific people that did do it can replicate it over, and over again. Since it's personal it can be done by them until the work is destroyed.

Science like the Conceptual Chemistry I brought up Doesn't care about talent, and yet it's still ripe for exploitation. It's a proper science explaining the fundamental particles of the universe what makes up matter. This however if it did exist in any other system could be construed as a Magic is Science Approach.

So, Yes there will be magic that underlies the universe, and everyone can exploit it. However, there is also magic that's frankly put just that magic. It's not a science it does give access to the God's. Something to exploit and make things. Video Game Magic Especially.
