There Was A Different Idea: An MCU Producer Quest

@Nystical, I'm pretty confused about the first part of your plan's name. Am I being dumb here, because what's "No Time Travel" even supposed to mean?

I am not Nystical, but it looks like it is a reference to not having had a convenient secondary science character in Thor that we never actually mentioned when we planned and made Thor.
Ah, that makes sense now that I think about it. Thanks for the info. :)

[X] Plan Short Attention Span Simon But With No Time Travel
-[X] [Williams] Simon Williams tried to be the Head of Williams Innovations, but eventually abandoned it for his long dream of being an actor. Though Eric has managed to stabilize the situation, there is still some resentment at his brother.
-[X] [Actor] Simon is an actor who is in a rut, he's been doing the same thing over and over and sees no way out, finding his job to be boring.
-[X] [Neal] Neal should be a bombastic type, willing to hype his clients and believe them to be the best thing since sliced bread. Being both a friend and personal motivator for Simon.
-[X] [Retroactive] No you didn't, you will have to create some for this movie:
--[X] [Retroactive] Darcy Lewis: A university student and conspiracy theorist who has been studying all she can about the Myth of the "Power Stone" and is writing her thesis in "Super powered individuals". Mainly used as a source of comedy and exposition, perhaps it could be expanded into a romantic interest.
-[X] [Final Fight] The final conflict is between Wonder Man, Laughton and the Living Laser, they all clash in Downtown L.A.
-[X] [Title] Wonder Man

So basically, I'm going for Claw's plan, but we aren't just recycling some random woman we mentioned for two seconds in Thor. :V

[] [Neal] Neil should be a more greedy and seedy type who is willing to scam his own clients in order to make a quick buck, Simon is not the first who he's used this way either.
[] [Neal] Write-In: Neil should be a more greedy and seedy type who is nevertheless honestly tries to help his clients. He's eager to make a quick buck but backstabbing your moneymakers means they don't make more money for you. Instead this get milked for comedy with the kind of ridiculous and demeaning moneymaking schemes he puts his clients through (ex. a smashcut to a scene of our hero doing an advertisement wearing a chicken costume and looking dead inside)

So Scarecrow is hunting Simon out of envy/insecurity while Living Laser is a thrill seeker who was hired by the Maggia to get both of them back to Williams Innovations to analyze them. (perhaps Laser stuck around Williams Innovations and/or went into coma while Simon and Scarecrow escaped and developed powers outside of Maggia knowledge)

Also we should decide what happens to the power stone by the end of this. Do the good guys get it, or does it stay with Williams Innovations and the Maggia gets possession of it in the end by taking over the company?

Also if we want we could try to setup how the power stone ended up in the hands of Williams Innovations and/or the Maggia to begin with, especially if we are going with conspiracy theorist instead of scientist.

Perhaps we make it so the power stone was left in Italy after WW2? Maybe it was used by Hydra until an early version of the Maggia stole it from them after Italy swapped to the allies? Perhaps by Nefaria's grandfather.

I think traditionally you'd have the Maggia end up with it, to set up the next movie, but the idea of the Power Stone ending up with Simon is kinda cool, actually. The impression I get is that while Simon ends the movie growing into the responsibility of his powers, him having the Power Stone and not knowing what to do with it is a compelling way of showing that he's still got growth ahead of him...

On the other hand it's gonna give the writers in whatever movie he's in next headaches because they're going to be asking why he doesn't just use the Power Stone to solve what problem he has.

Hey, here's an idea: maybe Simon ends up with the Power Stone at the end of this movie, and we use that as a way to pull him into our Avengers team-up. Like, whoever is the Big Bad in Avengers can kinda establish their badass bona-fides by beating up Wonder Man and taking the Power Stone early on in the movie (unless we're planning on the Maggia being the bad guys that the Avengers team up to beat?). And this would a good source of tension between the heroes in Avengers as well, since Simon might reasonably be somewhat skeptical of what SHIELD wants to do with the Power Stone, or the Tesseract, or both.

Maybe Simon could keep it so he and Darcy could try to use it to stabilize his powers if they happen to be not fully controllable. Then he could have a power upgrade in time for avengers.

Perhaps that could be Darcy's role during the finale, sneaking in with a briefcase lined with a material to hide the power stone from scanners so she can keep it out of the hand of various powerful organizations and to study it.

Edit: if we go with time travel will we need to do a negotiation role to see if Kat Dennings will want to return?

Edit 2: I can see Ryan Reynolds as living laser.

Depends if Jim would be willing to stick around.

I assume Laser will live and perhaps Scarecrow will die in the finale, but not sure.
I don't think he would be recurring that much. Perhaps a future Iron Man movie or a distant future team up, and we can check availability when we plan those.

I think he has out of genre appeal that can help get more people into seats as opposed to Reynolds who gets the people who might already show up to be more excited and likely. Both are far better than random B list people, but for different reasons.

I can see him as Simon too.
Well, Vaugh also sees him as Simon, so that should count for something. :V

For Living Laser, I'd like to briefly suggest Macaulay Culkin. Great actor, who had such an unfortunate drop in his acting career, that I believe he deserves a second chance.

And for Luchino Nefaria, I present Viggo Mortensen. Looks the part, if we add a mustache and beard.

When are those pictures taken? It's 2010 right now.
I've found year-specific photos for the two now, but it's been a pain to do so. :V They're both from 2010, fortunately. Though Culkin does look a little young for the role now that I look at it again, but I'm sure that's not gonna be a major issue.
