yeah, I can commit to one of our core masks being a mask trader/loaner sort of archetype I definitely don't want to reach final fixation on any of our masks but balancing some fixation on our core masks seems reasonable to do as well

Might as well formalize it. All in on maybe Old Testament eldritch horror!

I hate the idea of not committing eventually. I don't wanna be mediocre in a lot of places instead of good in one place.

Not to try to get more people interested in Angel, but I thought their home world was legitimately a utopia.
Yeah they are their world was a utopia we've even basically got confirmation the God there 100% really is benevolent even allows free will unless someone wants like a destined soul mate or something. The problem of that world is probably less choice, no challenge, and it might collapse because this is the ormulum and we can't have nice things.

The thing that makes me appreciate the Masked over the Angel is the fact that, of the two, the former is just more uniquely Ormulum. There's a number of god quests out there - some of the most popular quests on this site have been about the collection of faith, the accumulation of domains, and so on. Whatever the twists the Ormulum puts on it, the formula seems largely the same.

Contrast Masked, which is a much less served, much less archetypical, much rarer idea. We can always dig up another Good Guy God Quest. Can we always dig up another quest about a revolutionary magical mask maker? I don't think so. The opportunity cost of one just seems much greater to me.

@No7sHere
@BrainyPicker

If you guys too confirm precommitment on Salesman mask on the earliest opportunity, I will switch.
I'll add your names on my signature and everything - and you guys as well. Vote marker for Salesman mask.

Oh please accumulating faith quests I don't think a single one has gotten almost at all past the beginnings of their systems. They're basically those quests where nothing ever changes like Xander quest in terms of progress.

It's like playing a cultivation quest and not getting past foundation establishment after two years of questing.

About the crafting and time management concerns.. From discord

Angel involves a pretty similar level of micromanagement in the mid-term. You have to consider how to maintain a cultbase over multiple worlds, how to direct the faith you receive, whether or not to bless / empower followers or craft cult relics, etc.
That's for after Angel swallows the hard to swallow pill of making a personal religion of course.

The only real difference is that Masked isn't reliant on human beings as a powerbase.

For Angel, if you want powerful invocations you need to actually commit to devoting faith to making them.
It's still a factor of time and resources, the exact numbers just change.

Time is relatively irrelevant for masks
despite the "facetime" moniker.

"Facetime" is a function of both time spent wearing a mask and identity development, which includes exposure to events and making choices, etc.

Just take a piece of wood carved into a mask
paint it white
put some feathers on it.
Glitter, maybe.
Basic angel mask

Now develop an angelic identity.
It's not about the materials you use for the mask
Like, I feel this bears repeating because it's clearly not understood
It's about the mask's identity
You could genuinely get Squidward powers from making a Squidward mask even if you don't actually use Squidward Cells(TM) to craft it.

Dude I would rather wear a toilet mask than wear an angel mask after the fact we gave up angel. I mean same reason I'd be pissed off about some gamer mask.
