The price of overdoing it is the kunai merrily exploding at a random point between you and the target (including your hand)

Sure - and I wasn't being particularly serious, in the "there's no kill like overkill" sense.

But it's still not too different from being a complete beginner at the fire-breathing jutsu and accidentally inhaling/burning off your eyebrows, or losing control of a chidori (if anything, turning your hand into a lightsaber is probably dumber than turning a kunai into a grenade). It's all a matter of practice.

Relying on an external implement may well be inherently more risky and uncontrollable than turning the environment into dragons, given that it isn't a technique that I recall from canon, but I'm not really seeing why it'd be considered crazy given how chakra and essence both pay lip-service at best to issues of complexity and material physics.

Of course, explosive note spam would probably be a much more efficient and versatile use of our time.

Here's a write-in, just to expand your options, I guess.

[X] Why not?
- [X] The point in living is...for other people. I saw you...like that, and I couldn't just leave you. The truth is, I'm a lot happier when I see people smile instead of crying. While things can't always work out, it doesn't mean trying isn't worth it. That people aren't worth it.

This is kind of embarassing...

I like it!

"I think I may have overdone it."
Y'know, this actually makes for a nice plot hook for Tenten figuring out how to Gentle Fist.
Hmm....

How are you going to answer this?
[ ] It was the right thing to do.
[ ] Because everyone deserves a second chance.
[ ] You looked like you needed it. [ ] Stunt?
Option A is a statement that Tenten's motivations are about herself and the value system she was raised with, more or less.
Option B implies a history of loss and of failure, either on Tenten's part, or on that of someone she knows intimately.
Option C feels like a direct play for loyalty, but it's also the most directly human.

Eh.

[X] It was the right thing to do.
The Inabi omake swayed me.
Work on a stunt later tonight.

She did get the idea from watching Neji after all. Though she still needs to use Essence to cheat, since she lacks the proper control to do it without it.

And here I was going to do an update tonight, but you just tied the vote :V

[X] Go for the hug.

As much as I'd like to let her stand by herself, I don't think she's anywhere near that. She's also in an interrogation cell in a foreign village, so there's not a lot of warmth to be had.

Kin isn't exactly in some dank cell (it's nicer than Tenten's apartment for one :V) but the general point stands.

Also I remembered I had actual work to do tonight, so I'm leaving the vote open until tomorrow.
