[X] Join your voice to the Circle and Speak a Word of Restoration

I really, truly wish that I could let Vega do this by herself... But the sheer possibility of what may result from Amanda joining in is just... I mean, this is basically the icon of humanity's achievements and potential from before the Week of Sorrow, and all the wonders they created we may restore...

If the prize within reach was lesser, I'd all be for Vega to do it herself. If she was even slightly more skilled, again, I'd be entirely happy for Vega to do it herself. If only this had happened in one or two more years time...
What 'more' are you expecting, and why?

Most or all of the city, rather than parts of it.

Basically? All the towers in perfect, or better, condition (which is basically what Vega's going to give us anyway...) and all of the city... instead of just the parts closest/most involved with the towers like it's said is what Vega will give us unless she rolls really well and defies expectations. If we roll really well... Maybe pull of Skylark 2.0, Bigger and Better? (By which I mean, all the wonders, databases and research files, rather than just the cities...)

Ah, more SL bait. Got it.

[x] Let the moment pass, for only through doing can Vega truly learn.
I trust Vega and the circle enough that i value letting them gain this experiance instead of a better miracle. also, i'd agree with the idea that the circle should be able to function at peak without 223 aid.

It's better to let them do it alone , we shouldn't join in on everything that ppl do , after all how will they learn and grow.

Normally I would go with the other option but, if I understood things correctly, they are already good enough that they won't simply be amazed but actually learn from the first-rate look and experience in participating. And that is more valuable than anything for the goal of accomplish things on this level without someone like Vega or Amanda, because what distinguishes the great from the extraordinary is that vision of what could and will be; which, if you don't just naturally get, the best way is to be shown when you can understand what it means.

And if they aren't yet at that point then it is useful information for Vega and them to know too.

...huh. That's something of a reversal from this morning. Expect this to remain open through the day, I'll probably pull the trigger on closing it tomorrow morning.

It's been my feeling that there have been quite a few choices where Amanda has jumped in when she could have let people grow a bit more.
I suppose the trend makes it a character trait, but it's one I'd like to see reversed. Amanda already made the big step down from letting humanity rely on her, now she needs to practice that a bit more on a personal level too.

Upsides to speaking: +Mars, possible +Mary (because of +Mars).
Downside: probable -Vega/Harmonials (larger minus to learning from doing it themselves than the positive from seeing an expert do it). Possible Mary exasperation due to not being able to keep from jumping in on things.

Hmmm...

reduced it to a mass grave for over two hundred million souls

"How are you
hundred million souls.

Vega's gonna pull off something impressive if we intervene or not, that Miracle roll proves that, but with our aid it'd be even better. And seeing as it's a city which is historically important to almost all humanity, being the first off-world place we made, I say go for full restoration.

Also: Amanda gets tratis: "If I want it done right I have it to do myself" and "I'M the CENTER (of attention)".

There's the argument that the rest of humanity needs to figure out how to do things by itself. That Amanda's personal intervention goes against her professed intentions of not becoming the god of humanity. That the pride humanity will feel when it looks back and sees what it accomplished on its own merit will outweigh anything Amanda could give them

But really, I'm just voting this way to be contrary.

*looks in*

Still close? Really?

Fine then, you have until I finish work today. That will be in about five hours. If you want to vote or argue for a side, that's your window.

Seriously though, it's lovely to see this being so contested. Means I did something right with the setup.

Your motivations for voting aside ( :p ), there is a difference between "not holding humanity's hand" and "abandoning humanity".

The key part of why Amanda decided to retire, as pertaining to this argument, is that it would let humanity learn to make decisions without Mandy's giving clear directions. Well, Vega has made her decision to reach out to Mandy in this situation. It's not Amanda imposing her will on humanity as a god would (though it says nothing about not imposing her will on reality :p), it's her giving help when asked.

It's not like she would refuse participating in the next Shiplord Defense event just because she's not a president anymore, after all. :)

And there's two ways she can provide help:
1) take the reins herself
2) "I trust you."
