I have questions about what's happening here.

Shatter the Mirror doesn't work that way. It doesn't duplicate Kong Zhi like it did the HotM, it summons a time clone instead to perform a task. Also, it seems silly to reveal a powerful and valuable technique for such a trivial reason.

The competitors are all equally interesting to me, so no preference there. But the audience. It just feels to in character for me to ignore. Zhi would 100% go wandering into the audience wondering what they're here for.

Maybe? But probably not. To properly judge that'd require 12 distinct, moderately in-depth descriptions of the pieces, and some adjoining KZ initial impressions.

It seems like the scope of the update could get pretty large/unwieldy.

It might be more of a 'the top 5 (or 4) are decided, out of these [x competitors] who else makes it to the finals?' Kind of vote.

One thing I'd like to see is KZ getting a gauge on how long a particular crafter has worked in their selected media, so that he can judge the works more finely.

Honestly, audience option seems like a waste. They are there to be entertained, there is no deep mystery to it.
