The Long Night Part Two: Sparks at Midnight: A Planetary Governor Quest (43k)

Voting is open
honestly, this is probably a problem for more then just us.

we should look into getting the different human policys (who *all* have issues that lean us towards, ... shall I call it "tjapa-like tendencies", it just differs in the particulars I'd think) a external audit of our spy-agencys. as neccessary as they are, they still need external accountability.

don't get me wrong, I'm sure theres some of that as-is by each policys neighbors/eldar. but making it more formal will give alot more weight and I think its needed.

the eldar need their special paths to mitigate slaneshi-tendencies (less so now, but still to a degree I'm sure),... humanity needs our checks and balances to mitigate tjapa tendency's.
(yes I know the tyrant-king doesn't have a proper claim on humanity, but our culture, habits and beliefs certainly do)
I think that realistically every human faction should absolutely have their own way of doing things. Because IMO one of the biggest flaws with the Imperium was trying to enforce blanket policies. Which just meant that you ended up with every polity that didn't conform to the Imperium's way of doing things getting wiped out and in the end leaving very few polities able to function. Which also left most of humanity super vulnerable once Tjapa showed up due to how monolithic human culture and society.

Like it says a lot that the polities that ended up doing the best, which didn't involve direct rule of primarchs, are the ones which were the most unique.

hm, fair point; but I don't think that contradicts my point.

audits don't have to apply in a single way universally afterall.

Good news, everyone! Dynamesmouse has said that we've basically figured out everything about the emoji prophecy. Be'lakor's crowning achievement was inventing sorcery. Sorcery was proliferated, and now it's part of Chaos itself. Zahhak will attack sorcery, resulting in the loss of knowledge and the deaths of sorcerers.

Hopefully, the inquisition situation will be improving as there's fewer and fewer major threats able to direct major attention towards us.

Doubly so since the chaos bois best able to actually successfully subvert us (the alphas) have themselves been subverted.

And yeah as I understand a decent chunk of the Inquisition's psy recruits are going towards comms. Unsurprisingly running interstellar spy agencies effectively requires speedy communications.

once again, vlad tepes hiding behind nothing but sheer audacity

I'm really confused about why the Emperor gave Lin orders to create the Trust in the way he did. It's resulted in the human remnant that worships him the most out of any, when supposedly he didn't want to be worshipped. If he hadn't given orders to create a society to await his rebirth, then the Trust probably wouldn't be emperor worshippers to anywhere near the same degree.

at the time faith was the only real cultural unifier for the imperial forces,so makes sense that he would stablish and regulate a cult system to leverage its cultural unifier properties while minimizing zealoutry

our society has outgrown this need for worship of the emperor long ago,but just as it happened with the old imperium we still obey and pursue outdated policies out of cultural and institutional inertia

is up to us to change them

New questions and answers.
1) What Magic Disciplines do we have that do not soft/hard-lock you out of our other magic disciplines?
1) most of your base diciplines
songweaving
Rune
tramnsumation

2. Has the Machine Spirit relevations changed anything with trying to combine Chamon or Technomancy?
2. not so far
but the revelations are years old at most
2) Do we have any updates on this (Technomancy-Chamon interactions in light of Machine Spirits), especially since our mastery with Chamon has advanced quite a lot since?
2) dont interact paticular much

3) Given reality is bust right now around the dragon, how viable are these as rituals?: "World of Illusions: Transforms reality into a falsehood controlled by the ritual casters. Requires: Presumably a lot of casters, likely a fay directing it, duration: unsure, casting time: A while)
4) "Invert: Reverses normal laws of reality in an area. Gravity makes you lighter, friction makes you slide faster etc. Makes technology useless. Requires: A Slann, lots of support and a lot ton of bravery, casting time: a while, duration a few hours, potentially permanent.)
5) Time's Due: Lashes out against something which has arrived faster than it should, freezing it in place until time is right again. (Caster: At least 1 Slann trained in chronomancy, duration: Not too long against the dragon, casting time fast). Based on my understanding of how Alcubierre drives work 😛
3) 4) works to an extent

1) 3) 4) works to an extent: As in 3 and 4 or just 4?
1) just 4

6) How many longships are being produced per galactic decade in the rest of the Trust excluding Helheim?
6) right now?
half a dozen
that is changing though
as you were one of the fasest to build your inital shipyards
reember its been 20 years since the Grand Concalve
and 15 since you got enough understanding of them to start building

7) How does Tallship-Longship transportation work?
7) tallships tend to traport cargo containers between systems
the cargo contariers are laoded and unoad with a mix of pullies and beastpower onto longships
which then land it at docks where they are unlaoded by modern tech
most of the time the tallship only carries a couple of longships
with the longships instead being based out of the system

8) We're debating whether the primal is viable for truly bulk goods like metal transport where we ship trillions of tons. That seems impossible without heavy machinery (not possible to use that in primal to move from longship to tallship) or magic which would likely be too expensive. Is there an effective limit on what sort of cargo they can practically move?
8) theyc an mass carry metal
mostly via a mix of good engineering including designs and the fact that avernite beasts of burdern have way more strength then normal animals
compared to laoding a macrocannon with human pulled pullies, loading a 100kt train cart with stegadon powered pullies is really effective

9) So did Clonegrim pass the rolls? I feel like he and Emps have a lot in common with how much they sort of messed up while under influence.
9) as far as you know no

3) Could we develop a psyker talent revealing chamber with psychic architecture, perhaps using true glass, that people could be run through on a large scale?
3) maybe
10) Could we do a feasibility of this to see if it's viable? Cause I imagine Tamia can do some rough math to figure out if a PA Psyker Awakening/Identifying Chamber would be cheap enough to introduce in enough places to be worth it or if it's so expensive that we could only make one that wouldn't have the throughput to be useful for an entire planet.
10) you could

11) For the Slann, does Starquake cross the line between "a kid makes a flashbang with their young chemist's kit" and "garage-assembled IED"?
11) it does

12) What's more difficult, making one primarch the way Emperor did in embers, or primarch-ifying an existing warp entity/god the way modern lore seems to suggest Emperor has done?
12) you dont know

13) I thought exalted was the maximum size a warp entity could be and be able to operate in materium directly. Is it different for incarnations or Anatolian's ka-ness allows him to subvert that restriction?
13) it is
the Anatolian is basicly restircting himself to Exalted power when incarnating

14) Is it fair to say, Anatolian's domains are a mix of specific unrestricted domains he got from archetype ascension and restricted ones he got from his worshippers?
14) yes

15) Does Nurgle technically have access to Plague-Devouring-Plague too, on the grounds that it's a subdomain of Plague, and just never uses it for obvious reasons?
15) he does

16) How did light of Astronomican reach Tyranids through the frozen warp of intergalactic void?
16) you dont know if it even did
or if theya re coming because it is the nearest galaxy to the alst one that ate

2) Is Moriana still around?
2) no

3) What's her background here? Was she really just a talented Inquisitor who got fed up with the Imperium, or is there something more to it?
3) talented inquisitor half possesed by something Old
17) Any idea what that thing was? A daemon? Some xenos thing?
17) non daemon warp being

18) What was the Ouroboros in Embers? Did it die during the destruction of Caliban?
18) did not exist

19) Is the Paragon progress for our Psyker Hunters for a single guy our for a group Paragon?
19) a single guy

20) How much more EP do the Caverns give compared to Psyker Hunting?
20) multiple times

1) You said a hypothetical god of Therapy would be good at dealing with gods but rather bad at handling mortals. Where do transcendent gods fall under this?
a) The Anatolian in particular?
1) somewhere in between
a) you dont know

1) Does Solariel also hate Mathlann as much as Be'lakor does, or did nobody tell him about the plan to save Dragonslayers and their equipment during the Fall being ruined?
1) he does

2) How in the world did the Eldar pantheon not notice the Slaanesh godseed until it was too late, when they're supposed to be paying attention to the Eldar? Was Atharti just bad at communicating that she was getting way less juice than she theoretically should've been?
2) they noticed and destoyed the first few godseeds
but eventuly ran out of power enough that they could not take it

3) Can preexisting religious gods gain or lose domains depending on new beliefs among their worshippers? Like a developing civilization insisting their god of Invention and Artisanship is now also god of Technology
3) theyc an

1) Was Atharti only the goddess of pleasure that didn't involve the suffering of nonconsenting parties, rather than all of Pleasure? Hence why her juice got cut off later on
1) sort of

2) Is there a way to make an arcane fulcrim summoned via high magic permanent?
2) no

3) Do we know where Mathalann the sunnovabitch is BTW? Given how he screwed everyone over in the past I don't want to risk him coming out with a steel chair?
3) you dont

4) Out of curiosity did Ant know about archetypes in detail when he made the primarchs? Given that he had one himself at the time I assume he had some understanding, but that he also didn't know some of their underlying mechanics when he did the thing, which resulted in unintended consequences.
4) not in detail

1) Didn't investigate it due to personal disdain for the concept?
1) pretty much

4) pretty much: If he had known would he have done things differently, or given how unlikely the primarchs were even in those circumstances is it fair to say that the only reason he wouldn't have proceeded is hindsight basically?
4) yep

2) What generated his antipathy towards gods? I assume more due to things like the need for worship and their potential to surpress the free expression of those under them, since I imagine its not a result of being strong innately?
2) a few bad early experiences (himself included)

3) a few bad early experiences (himself included): His time as Ramasses, but did like some orphan gods take up residence on earth? Since humanity shouldn't have been able to sustain a god of any level given the modern population requirements.
3) one or two
also various encounters after hummanity left earth
includeding a couple of human gods

5) Hoeth had any luck indexing the staff info, or too much risk of blowing his head out at this stage to be worth it?
5) not had the time

3) To the best of his knowledge did the shamen make him to be a way for them to survive in some fashion or was he made to protect humanity? Or just a sorta mixture, since the Shamen were presumably a fairly large group.
3) mixture

4) How long would it take to make the dragon slayers latest generation of anti-dragon weapons? Asking for the future mostly since we obviously can't make them RN.
4) its less the time to make them
which is decades
and more the time to develop the expertise to make the tools to make them
and so on

1) Yeah the only way I figured we could get around that was if Lizardmen tech could do it, but since these were specialist eldar stuff for the most part I imagine they're designed so only eldar can operate the machines to do it?
1) pretty much

5) How do those weapons compare to the high end WIH weapons? Like black stone fortresses?
5) better

2) better: That sixty million years of development time payin off I see.
2) yep

5) Pfft, I gotta ask. The primarchs all male cause they're all partially clones of him, or was he just in the sort of head space where he did not think about it at all?
5) basicly clones of him

6) Also he want Cawl and his custodes back?
6) nah

1) That's a tick, are Cawl's custodes a bit different from the norm due to having been isolated from him for a while? Bit more independent etc?
1) you dont know

2) Do Slann have Songweaving or some analogue?
2) an analogue yes

1) Plausibility of either omake? The Kaleva Triplets
omakes Guiding the Chances
1) triplets dont work
guiding chanes is plusable

1) Triplets don't work: In what sense, the idea itself, the individual descriptions, the feats?
1) the idea itself

2) The idea itself: What about the general idea of a Slann trio working better together than expected? To the extent that the other omake shows them?
2) that works

2) Would upgrading cogitator-using relics with soul AI tech break their relicness?
2) yes

3) Is the person who discovered the machine spirits spirit awakening principles involved in the soul AI project?
3) yes

1) Did Charles negociate with Malcador to keep his eyes out of the nine realms area or was he keeping his head down?
1) he did
well a mix of negotiate and point out that the Nine Worlds were intimitly connected to Avernus
and that it would be a really bad idea if secrets were found that required the deployment of foces that might piss of Avernus

1) "Ultimate Shield: Part Two" was listed as having 305/306 with DC 200. Wouldn't that be a Critical Success?
1) if it was something that could be critted on yes

2) Has Zahhak made any new Blackened since the old ones all died in the Storm of Judgement?
2) no

3) Does Chaos have any Planetaries?
3) not really

5) Is Fundamentals: Vortex weaponry estimated to be useful?
a) Ditto but for Psychic Creator: Vortex?
5) not the player

6) in a Sane win where Lin was still alive, would he eventually end up to be the best/only therapist for God's and other powerful beings?
6) maybe

7) how far to the next update I need my hit ?
7) a while
extra shifts

8) How much benefit would we expect to get from "Fundamentals: Antimatter Technology" for the improved antimatter reactors and antimatter enhanced engines research actions?
8) not the player

1) What happened to Moriana that got her killed in a non-resurrectable way or otherwise taken off the board?
1) chaos infighting is all you know

2) Do gods of narrower domains tend to do better at it in a narrative sense compared to gods with a broader domain of which the narrower one is a subdomain? Or would any extra skill the narrower god has come purely from mundane skill specialization?
2) usually yes

3) Was Zahhak ever white?
3) yeah, she is a white dragon now
just has black hair in human form

1) What level of major is the Emperor at?
1) low

2) What level of major would he be if he started eating the souls of all his faithful?
2) low

3) Can he eat the souls of his faithful? I've been assuming he could since that was part of his narrative for quite a while
3) unknown

4) Why don't eldar gods have daemons?
4) not in their narrative

1) Changed a few things. Still implausible or fixable? htps://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qf2WGK2YTiUMlsXBOb1QXJofdV6RTlJ0wHWVXJDRi2E/edit?usp=drivesdk
1) that works

1) From what Vlad can tell, with their main chaotic competitors in the assassins, (well aside from Tzeentch in general) gone, and Omegon dead were the alpha legion becoming more effective due to having more consolidated leadership (inspite of Alpharius's general insanity.)
1) yes

2) Out of curiosity in sparks verse is it fair to say that Horus generally being somewhat well put together was more despite emps than because of him?
2) yeh

3) Also I forgor to bring it up at the time, but has Ant been informed of the blood angel situation? I imagine he's in the same situation as...well everyone in regards to them (AKA does not know WTF is going on there), but just in case.
3) he has
and yeah had a big WTF moment

4) IIRC You said the first god Avernus would be making was one for cleaning up the warp, but as a rule of thumb is basically any god concept something Avernus can concivably make given enough time (and assuming no chaos connection?)
4) yes

5) Has colour theory lost some power in recent years due to the orks no longer being around, or has it become somewhat self reinforcing?
5) become self reinorcing

6) If God A makes a deal with God B (a death god) to host an afterlife for God A's followers, do the gods still need to be in constant contact with one another to keep the deal going, or do all souls that are supposed to go to God A automatically get rerouted to God B's afterlife even if God A is cut off from contact?
6) it varies with the narrative and why the contact was broken

7) Was Cypher and Celestine dying just...really shitty luck? Or was that narrative? Sorry I'm sure this has been asked, but I can't find it.
7) Cypher was narrative
Celestine was shitty luck

8) Is it fair to say that Ant's God-King awe aura is problematic for his desire to not reinvigorate any faiths in him, as it presumably means that anyone who touches or is touched by his power is going to get blasted with "God-King worship him" energy, whether he likes it or not?
8) yes

9) Probably a bad idea, but would it be possible to combine the power amplification of the golden throne with the power amplification of an arcane conduit? I predict big explosion, but still.
9) you could and it would either be a massive power boost
a continent shattering+ boom
or both

10) Since people have been proposing the idea of Ynnead taking in human souls I feel like there are problems with this idea? Setting aside whether such a deal would even work, but I get the impression that a large chunk of why their current system works is that Ynnead is specifically doing it to eldar souls, which cuts down on the costs, creates a stronger pull between her and the souls (even when she's in the webway) and eldar souls produce a lot more faith than humans even as souls. If she started taking in humans would the sheer mass of souls (we are rather big in terms of population) out weigh the additional costs and strain placed on her from expanding the after life, gathering the souls etc.
10) one of the big issues is that she cant take human souls
she amanged a work around for the triumvettes followers
but that is empwoered by a divine sacrifice, and then written into the fabric of the warp by the Grand Ritual

1) Is Ant using his faith stores for anything particularly interesting, or has he just been using all of it on buffing his Custodes who are fighting in the Dragon War?
1) he is saving a lot of them
hoping that he can use them to help make the anti dragon superweapon

1) Where does Ants get the humans for his Custodes 2.0?
1) Trazyns exhibits

2) If Aria's unique powers prove to be worth the hype, will she have good chances of getting an archetype due to her unique status?
2) maybe

1) How many more years galaxy time do we have before Vaul is up?
1) around a decade

2) According to the Necrons, what's their best understanding of what the C'tan are?
2) either some sort of star parisite
or soemthing that formed before stars were a thing

4) Not sure if this is answered but on what Tech Level would Great Crusade - Horus Heresy Era Imperium be in?
4) probebly around 13 on average
way higher then 40k Imperium
but not as high as 40k mech
I would say 30k mechancius would be 16ish

1) How often (if ever) do Inquisition Psykers come back to the Telepathica for remedial training/update their knowledge (with constant mega advancements in magic)/etc?
1) pretty often

2) Are the Necrons willing to tell us why stars in particular have ka, which something usually associated with living organisms?
2)they dont know

3) What time range is the Troll Orichalcum upgrade project?
3) you meant he one combining it with Wraithbone?
they hope to finish within a century, three at most

1) No, the one using the World's notes on Eternal.
1) ah
less then a century to make something
then multiple centuries to make it something that double digit numbers of trolls can make

1) How do we start looking into details about Vulkan's Constant thing? Feasibility, diplo, GD, or direct Telepathica research?
1) you dont

1) As in he's way too busy for any kind of examination?
1) as in far more advanced races have spent tens of thousands of years looking intot hem and got scraps
the chacne of you getting anything is close enough to zero to be zero

2) Are Impalers as to APA as Lasguns are to PA?
2) nah
smaller difference

1) Is the Nightbringer actually "dead" (as in its part of reality damaged), or just normally shattered?
1) shattered you think

2) Does anyone have any idea what part of reality Qah embodied that was destroyed with its death from Slaanesh?
2) no

3) Does Chaos Sorcery actually require the compliance or nonhostility of the god you are invoking?
3) to an extent

4) Is this only people like the Eldar and Necrons, or did the Old Ones themselves get stumped?
4) the OO themselves made some progress but did not solve it

5) Have the odds of a psyker-psyker couple on Avernus having a psychic child remained static (iirc 1%) or has it increased/decreased?
5) increased but by decimal places

6) Are our psykers allowed to watch Ribbit's Relay Construction?
6) yes

1) How advanced were the Rashan, TL wise?
1) 30+

1) Can Devas of the Triumvirate happen before the Grand Ritual? Like, using their current domains and all.
1) yes

2) What would happen if the Doomed One was given the Widowmaker?
2) unknown exacty what
but he would die soon

3) Hypothetical Primarchs back in time to the HH, but if they needed to get empy into time out do they think they could safely do it themselves, or would this be a "go see if that time period's AO's got some free time?" sorta situation. Then let him sit on emps.
3) if it was all the current ones they would probebly be able to do it if they could arrange to gang up on him

4) If now Russ had to intervene to stop the burning of Prospero (lets say before it happened, but the wolves are in orbit), what would he do? As I understand Magnus was waiting to be carted off, but also wasn't communicating this fact to Russ, Russ was waiting in orbit and had chaotic infiltrators in his fleet and then Ahriman did an Ahriman and shot at them. Supplex Ahriman and the infiltrators and call his past self and Magnus a pair of self obsessed cry babies? 😄
4) less call them cry babies
more idiots incapable of basic communication

1) If the Chaos gods had known it was the Emperor keeping the Void Dragon asleep, and they tried to keep the Emperor alive for as long as possible to prevent the Dragon from waking. How long would they have been able to keep that up?
1) given that the Emperor arranged his own death
not very long at all

1) Did the necrons loose a few C'tan to the nids? As in enough of a C'tan's shards that they can consider it lost (mostly relevant for the confirmed constants?)
1) yes

2) They willing to talk about the nids final mutation? Beyond what is suspected, that being it was bad.
2) no

3) If it becomes clear that the Sane are definitely going to win the Long Night, is Be'lakor likelier to switch sides (like the Everchild) or would he likely just vacate the galaxy?
3( vacate the galaxy

4) Does Chaos ever wonder if the Green Awakening due to Krork was an intended side effect for the Eldar?
4) they do sometimes
among other things it provided a major distraction fr their foes
and cover for the Krork while they built up to a level that they cant be taken

I don't remember but is Vlad a transcendent as well or like Abby before his own is he just that good he is on the level of one due to stats and having a bunch of paragons?
We think he was transcendant before, but problem with Intrigue transcendents is that they're, well, Intrigue transcendents and getting accurate information about them is nigh impossible.

What is Cawl up to these days?
And yeah as I understand a decent chunk of the Inquisition's psy recruits are going towards comms. Unsurprisingly running interstellar spy agencies effectively requires speedy communications.
Also seems like the Inquisitor psykers would be pretty busy dealing with the rest of the Trust's psykers as well. Since I imagine that the rest of the Trust would have issues even finding them due to lacking something like Avernus' infrastructure for dealing with such things. Which also imagine isn't helped that it's probably really impractical for places that aren't Avernus.

(re-collecting things for the sake of new readers)

he's also *really* old; (more evidence that he's transcendent as thats the most common way of being ageless for humans, but he also collected all the BC set and got ageless from that so theoretically he could lack a transcendency)

also:
and when your sufficently old, crap happens that puts your status in doubt about alot of things. for example, with time-travel shinanagins being a thing in this universe, being immortal makes it inevitable that something funky happens to your time-line.

since he's explored the entire planet, caverns included and presumably also the timeless islands (or whatever their called); we know his timeline is a bit screwy (whether the screwyness is far enough in his past to not matter <shrug>)

Alpharius was a known intrigue transcendent (with a relevant archetype to boot), and Vlad is considered a step more effective than him. Whether that's because Vlad himself is also a transcendent, or if Alpharius being Chaos-aligned really did a serious number on his ability to be effective, is still unknown.

We think he was transcendant before, but problem with Intrigue transcendents is that they're, well, Intrigue transcendents and getting accurate information about them is nigh impossible.
It depends in part on the transcendent in question. Vlad, if he has one, has the kind that would take concerted effort by Rids to get any details on. Naturally we don't be doing that.

Speaking to the Worm
Speaking to the Worm

Everything you know, they will know.

This is not as bad as it seems.

In a polity so massive as the Trust, volunteers for an attempt to speak to the Slaugth was not as inconceivable as might be imagined. Even if it was seen as something of a suicide mission. Expectations were that of diplomats being mindprobed with gruesome biotechnologies. Even on a success. Everyone sent could do everything perfectly and still die achieving nothing. After all, the Slaugth had not conducted diplomacy in many millions of years. But it was seen as worthwhile to attempt nevertheless. After all, the greatest victory was that of the battle unfought. Dozens of Battlefleets worth of ships could be conserved. The Trust's expansion could be expedited.

The first question then, was what the volunteers ought to know. That the mood in the Trust was confident in victory, it was decided. That the Trust had acquired more advanced technologies since the battle of Vanaheim, it was agreed. That the Trust had upgraded their fleets yet again, it was decided. All information that in the general could not really be acted upon, and information the Slaugth likely had and which all the surrounding polities of any worth knew for certain. It was a statement of intent: We can defeat you, but we offer you an opportunity to leave instead.

More in debate were questions such as 'We knew of the attack on Vanaheim well in advance', 'We have deep knowledge of Sa learned from the Lizardmen' or 'We know exactly the layout of your operations despite all the countermeasures you have taken'. In the realms of diplomacy, a secret given up was a statement of power. Giving up a secret was both a small measure of trust and also an assertion that you could still win even after giving up that secret. Given the objective at hand, it was decided that the diplomats could know the generalities, if not the specifics. All major factions understood the concept of power well.

Then there was the delivery method. This was no small question. Each method of contacting the Slaugth sent a different message. There was the Primal, possibly at the head of a warhost and demonstrating that the Trust could simply slip onto any of the worlds the Slaugth controlled without so much as a warning to their sensors if they so decided. A step through the Webway was an assertion of the Trust's terrifying alliance with the Ynnarri, an open declaration of the powers they could call on if pressed. Arrival onboard a ship with the latest of Trust naval technologies would play upon the Slaugth fear of the constant advancements the Trust Navy were making. But only one approach could be decided upon, as there was no value in making two attempts.

Who exactly to send was in question as well. Out of the question were individuals of strategic value. value. Any user of Ka or Sa would probably go insane or be too revolted to possibly negotiate properly, and would probably be too suspected to boot. Whoever was sent would also provide a glimpse into the internal workings of the Trust, largely eliminating the Inquisition. This still left many - An Avernite would showcase the horrors of Avernus, a Muspelheimer would demonstrate the reaches of Trust technological development, a veteran of the Valinor campaign would see the impossible achieved.

At the end was the objective. In the tiniest speck of possibility held was that the Slaugth might assist them against the countless threats of the galaxy - Chaos and the Void Dragon would both surely see the Slaugth destroyed. Below that unlikeliest of possibilities was the hope that even if the Slaugth declined that possibility, they might perform a cold mathematical analysis on the probability and likely cost of victory - And just like the Trust themselves, they might then conclude that a naval engagement was not desirable. Perhaps then pack up and flee to the void. Perhaps offer a somewhat distasteful non-aggression pact to the Trust that was still palatable given the alternatives.

Either way, it was worth a shot.

After all, they will know this as well - And take it into due consideration.

AN: It turns out that there's actually a huge array of diplomatic options available even if you're talking to people who might well refuse all entreaties.

New questions and answers. Violent crime in Avernus is just asking for it given what is required for the average person to survive, that response is still hilarious to read though.
1) Necrons got any idea how the metal nids happened?
1) nope

4) Does Chaos ever wonder if the Green Awakening due to Krork was an intended side effect for the Eldar?
4) they do sometimes
among other things it provided a major distraction fr their foes
and cover for the Krork while they built up to a level that they cant be taken
2) What do the Eldar have to say?
2)they act smug
(its most farseers default stae of being, even, no especily when they are desperatly working off the seat of their pants to avoid disaster)

3) Odds of the Necrons showing up at the next Grand Conclave?
3) low

4) With the implementation of the tech from the 4th GC what's the Trust's new TL? (I suspect this has been asked before, but I can't find it.)
4) 25ish

5) did emps comment on the fact the mechanicus theology was (partially) correct
5) he was a bit suprised

6) Do established pantheons have their own unique psychic frequencies that's not directly held by individual gods, or is it just a mishmash of the members' frequencies?
6) some do some dont

7) how many times would the unchaineds population need to double for the trimverate to hit mid major?
7) 6ish

8) Is Malal a Great God yet? If not would we be specifically informed in a update if he became one?
8) no
and yes

9) If the Anatolian became a Great God post-long night sane victory, due to Trust successor states (Who would for the most part probably continue to worship him) expanding enough to make him one, would he still be able to hide himself from his worshippers and others? Or would he in essence have become too large to hide?
9) it depends onw hat domains he has picked up

10) For the Warp Surge ritual, is it a +20% bonus to sa effects taking place in the AoE, cast in the AoE, or both?
10) both but non stacking

1) How high a TL can we now distinguish? We were able to distinguish the FWS as 30 before.
1a) Are any of the TL 30+ races now identifiable as a specific number?
1) 32ish
1a) no

1) Did any of the Blackened - Zahhak's old paragon daemon princes - survive the Great Ritual? EDIT: This suggests maybe: omakes
1) one did
but has since died

1) Has the Blackened's death been defined?
1)during the Unchained Revolution
otherwise no

From Wahapedia unit descriptions
Eightbound
Virtually unrecognisable from the World Eaters they once were, Eightbound are Heretic Astartes whose form is possessed by eight daemons of Khorne. As a result they have incredible strength and savagery far in excess of others in their warband.
Exalted Eightbound
Some Eightbound reach a level of apotheosis when the soul of the World Eater they once were becomes one with the eight daemons sharing their physical form. This only makes them more dangerous. With no internal competition for control over their body, the Exalted Eightbound possess a purer kind of rage that is directed at their foes.1) Is Faust better than Khorne at making Eightbound- and Exalted Eightbound-like dudes?
1) yes

1) are the uncahined getting a lot of resources from the deva world road?
1) yes

2) do they have a steady pop doubling time or is their position not secure enofgh for that?
2) not se3cure enough

1) Is Guilliman currently at Secundus, or running around helping other sane polities?
1) Secudus as base of oeprations
spends maybe half his time there

2) I suspect that economic advancements may well justify (in the Trust) mass Basic Juvenat purely on the basis of popgrowth alone, ignoring productivity improvements. Is this... doable?
2) yes

3) Would a god of (mundane) corruption be chaos prone? I just keep thinking about those priests that were so mundanely corrupt that they did not fall to Tjapa.
3) maybe

4) Does Quartus have any paragons besides the primarchs? Combat or otherwise
4) a dozen or so
mostly combat

5) Is it possible to plasmance solis obliatum?
5) no

6) How many Beta psykers does Quartus have?
6) hundreds
and half a dozen As

3) and half a dozen As: is this only natural psykers or does it include psykers who got boosted by becoming astartes?
3) only nateral

7a) Are there any hive gangs in Avernus?
7b) If there are, what sorta gear does an average Avernite ganger rock with? (Weapons, armor and other items)
7) no
that type of voilent crime runs into a culture whose reaction to being mugged is "Open fire while your buddy flanks them and your rearguard calls in armour support"
make it distictinly unprofitable

8) Is the attempt to Diplomacy the Slaugth narrative or rolled?
8) rolled

4) Will they get a Ridcully reroll on account of being.. well, potentially just sidestepping the Slaugth war?
4) yes

5) Actually are they made up of Ka users, Sa users, or explicitly neither?
5) expecitly neihter

6) More generally is their composition something you have decided or omake material?
6) not really decided
exepct that everyone involved is expendable and knows that there is a high cahnce that they will do everything eprfectly but still die with no impact

9) Do any of the other primarchs tease Russ for how wolf centric his chapter is?
9) some do but its not quite as wolf centric as it seems
the thing is there are a decent number of animals on Fenris that got translated to "Wolf" in gothic
so from the Space Wolves point of view theya re naming their gear after a range of predators
not giving it all the same name

10) How are his siblings doing...not the primarch ones, Freki and Geri?
10) well and scary

2) Scary how? Cause giant primal super wolves? No idea how strong they are 😄
2) pretty much

1) How many people with paragons does the Blood Angel's polity have?
1) a few dozen

4) Were the primarchs archetype appropriateness just the result of Ant wanting to do a propaganda, being inspired by the luna gene smiths (who had an archetype thing going) and some vague understanding that conforming to warp narratives might be beneficial? Since the archetypes weren't intentional?
4) pretty much

5) Can shipyards be shipped by the Deva World Network?
5) no
well not whole
in parts yes

1) While massively inefficient, can astrology enchant objects?
1) yes

2) mmm...if "permanent" or close to permanent enchanting is done by altering an object so its frequencies are strong enough to passive draw sa into it, is there an equivalent for Ka? I assume absorbing Ka from the atmosphere would do it, but I feel like that'd eventually deplete Ka in an area...but that feels like the sort of thing which falls into non-issue issue outside of extreme circumstances (no life and no stars nearby for Ka to arrive in the area.)
2) you can use ka to create materials that are otherwise impossible but not themselves ka active

3) Can border lions that specialise in manipulating the border "enchant" things? If they altered a border of an object, would the effect remain even once border lion is no longer in contact with it?
3) yes but few have the skill

4) Possibly weird idea, but I recall there's a fair few concepts that Fenris/the primal tried to explain to us that Russ couldn't translate on account of it being very complicated and involving a fair few concepts that only really make sense to beings like world minds. Would this include cultural spirits? I ask cause Fenris was able to chat to the first world ship, which I feel like would be far more alien than a cultural spirit and given Fenris's objective being able to talk to cultural spirits feels like a pretty useful ability. + it had a test case living on it for a very long while in the Fenrisians.
4) not really
culterual spirits are pretty alien to it
being a manfestation of the bit of the manufactered that seperates it from the primal

5) gear after a range of predators: There's a lot of wolf varities on Fenris for a planet with no wolves 😄
5) that there are

6) Would there be high value in designing Psychic Architecture for the Callamus Titans, since they are in large use?
6) yes

7) Is there any information on stars in the Black Library?
7) yes

2) Anything interesting in there, or is it a rehash of what we already know in more complex terms?
2) mostly resah of what you know

8) What level of psychic power is Newbrand at?
8) Alpha PLus

1) Has she been practicing with it, and if so, what disciplines does she favor? (Psykery in general seems to piss off Khorne, but the disciplines that he hates more seem to also be the ones that wouldn't work as well for an ex-Khornate's style)
1) she is specilising in temperal manipulation and teleportion
haste and blink basicly

1) What do we need to do start looking for the concept to be allied with? Another GD, or directly to Telepathica research?
1) either culd work

"Ultimate Shield: Part Two was listed as having 305/306 with DC 200. Wouldn't that be a Critical Success?"
1) if it was something that could be critted on yes
2. Then why did it get a reroll when it had already succeeded? Am I mixing things up and we get unlimited rerolls?
2) you thought that there was potentional for a critical
our poeple do not act with perfect kneolwdge

3) For shits and giggles, how viable are the following as Things That Might Exist on Avernus, whether manufactured or natural:
3a) True/Alkhestral Coffee, perhaps brewed in a coffee maker designed with psychic architecture.
3b) A fruit that has been bred to amplify both the 'hot' (as capsaicin/chili) and cold (as mint/menthol) sensations in the mouth simultaneously
3c) Beergrass Fermentation Yeast Spread (Giga Vegemite)
3a) does not work
psychic architecture does not get that small
3b) would
3c) would

4) How does primarch death work? My understanding is that they're as much warp beings as they are physical beings, but then when they die, how come their bodies don't fall into the Warp along with their souls? Alternatively, why do their souls fall into the Warp instead of staying attached to their bodies?
4) unknown

1) What sort of things could a Geomancy spec Slann do? would they be stuck on Avernus pretty much permanently?
1) build new geomantic webs

1) Do the eldar still have the emotional issues they struggled with in the Age of the Imperium, like getting lost on the path and needing masks and all that?
1) yes
less so then then due to not being as strict
but yes

1) If an archetype holder died in the OO Retcon Training Machine, do they retain all Archetype steps? I assume the Slann know.
1) yes

3) Has any psyker tried duplicating Aria's Ka-Sa infusion for anti-Ka, with a friendly Ka user? And a lot of Ka tolerance
3) a few have
so far no success
3) Are failed attempts fatal or merely very unpleasant (or even largely consequence free)?
3) there have been a buntch of attempts that did not cause permanant harm, some have

4) if an archetype holder dies, gets revived and regains his archetype does he have to start at step one again
4) yes

5) How much would someone have to pay to get lessons from Jane 😛

6) Out of curiosity, do we know if Newbrand's "species" is something custom cooked up by Be'lakor or if it resembles his original species, before...well I assume they're dead and I presume he's responsible?
6) seems to be custom
but has a few traits in common with his orgional speices
hge is indirectly responsible
as he is the one who manipualted them into challanging the Dominion
and thinking that due to controling 80% of the galaxy they could do it

7) Were they the Mon'keigh? The original Mon'Keigh I mean?
7) no

7) Are the Croneswords a thing in Sparks at Midnight?
7) yes and no
as a set of Dominion Era ARtifact swords on the border of low divine yes
as they are in cannon no

1) how complex can we get with true matarils? ie could we do True coffe or true bricks for example?
1) you dont know

2) I need some frame of reference. How much of Avernus (Colony)'s artillery do our Minor Island Turtles represent?
2) mutliple percent
but the vast majority of your macro artillary
excluding the militia
before which everyone else put together only has a few percent of the artillary

3) Similarly, how many battlegroup worth of defences are our Voil Sails worth?
3) around 25 battlefleets
though a rather unblanced 25 battlefleets that would be slaughtered by a blanced force of the same size

8) How reliably can Vaul make divine artifacts once he's put back together?
8) he can relaibly do it
but it takes either a lot of time or the right narrative

1) Thoughts? Speaking to the Worm
1) looks good to me

2) post-retirement, what are the chances that Rotbart officially takes up Exotic Avernite Cuisine
2) that would ahve to be post Long Night
as after retiring as Governor he plans to go full time a General
either as Minister of War for the Imperial Trust
or under the Ynnari

1) Will we get the Codex Avernus 2.0 option this round?
1) yes

2) Would he work for Emps/Ant if asked?
2) yes

3) So, I assume that Void Sails can be integrated into Trust Orbital defences without too much trouble?
a) Approximately how many doublings are we away from Void Sail diminishing returns w.r.t integrating into Trust Orbital Defences? Assuming we spread them optimally throughout the Trust
3) yes
3a) 6ish

4) Do we have the capability to just ship out existing orbital defences to outer colonies?
4) yes

5) What is the plan against the VD? As far as I can see it has just been winning (if slowly against Abby) and getting harder to stop ever since it showed up. Hidden superweapons and desperation moves aside, how are the Sane expecting to not lose this fight? Are the Krork growing even faster maybe?
5) Krork are growing faster and as it spreads out over a larger area its command mallus starts showing more

6) Do anti-psyker traits apply with a reduced bonus against psykers who use their powers to support their mostly mundane combat style (ie a weaker biomancer giving themselves enhanced strength and speed that could just as easily come from supersoldier augmentations, or a newbie diviner replicating the effects of regular combat experience), as opposed to their entire style being based around using powers?
6) yes

7) have the primarchs finished their archetypes?
7) yes

1) what tier would the primarchs be if they ascend?
1) mostly honoured

2) would the primarchs be willing to do it if the need is great enough?
2) maybe

3) how many major gods would it take to equal a Great God?
3) it depends on power
but if you ahve a weak Great God and some really strong major gods 17
if its more average over a 100

4) Around what percent of a devout person's total psychic power do they generate in faith each decade?
4) a tiny amount but its not a liner percent of psychic power

1) I can't remember, but can we use the Gravitic Array offensively? By offensively I mean 'level planetary infrastructure unless they have a countermeasure to it'. As IIRC we could Gravitic Array ourselves during one of the Incursions, it just wouldn't have been a good idea due to collateral (to ourselves)
1) not relaibly

2) So if I remember right, eldar are the min-max species. In that vein, do Swordmasters of Hoeth cheese the TLN xp system by tying fighting - whose stat is the easiest to level up - to learning?
2) probebly

1) Should damage from psykers, especially A+, go down over time, as, even if bonuses are equal, and even if numbers of both anti-psykers and psyker both increase in the same proportion to the other, the 'surprise' factor of an A+/A/B/etc will go down as it is increasingly likely they pop up near(er) to someone(s) who can respond to them?
1) yes

1) Do the krork just baseline grow faster than the VD, or is it a result of the VD being so constrained in territory that it's deep in diminishing returns on further buildup, or alternatively the VD is growing slower only because it's under constant siege?
1) you dont know

4) Does Quartus have any paragons besides the primarchs? Combat or otherwise
4) a dozen or so
mostly combat
6) How many Beta psykers does Quartus have?
6) hundreds
and half a dozen As

3) and half a dozen As: is this only natural psykers or does it include psykers who got boosted by becoming astartes?
3) only nateral
What is the Trust's reaction to learning about these things? Because I like to imagine that the Trust just assumed that this kind of thing was normal due to bias. Since IIRC Avernus had something like a dozen human paragons alone and even outside the trust think they had something like 2-3 of their own human Paragons. Heck, as long time quester here even I was surprised seeing those numbers since assumed that places like Quartus would have something like at least half of our Beta and Alpha numbers due to sheer size.

Also what percentage of our Astartes are from Avernus and how many are psychic?

Guiding the Chances
Guiding the Chances

Micron by micron, Imbac watched the glowing lines grow. High Magic rituals on this scale always required atom-scale precision at least. It took days to draw the Runes.

Days he spent in this system. Away from the World. Months, with all the other preparations. And not only him. Five Slann were now in the system.

It was a risk. But a minimal one. Avatars were guarding them. Fleets were guarding them. Nothing but direct attention from the Five could be a threat, and precautions were taken against that as well, of course.

He looked around. The platform they were upon was over five kilometres across. To the right, there floated Biel-Tan. To the left, the Godkiller.

Not because they were the best protection. There were other reasons.

What they were doing now was Chance. Possibility. Probability. Both vessels had brushes with it lately.

So did the woman standing in the middle of the spellform now. Jane Oakheart, she who defied Chance time after time.

The human standing close to him had such brushes as well. But his role was different. The Blind Seer was guiding alongside him.

And all of them were in a zone of Chance. Not Chaos, not a Warp Storm. This was a system where the interference from Necron and Ynnari strategic weapons clashed, creating a jumble of a type that gave even Daemons headaches.

Behind him, Va'Jnem started. A powerful Songweaving, as he held an instrument not unlike that which forced the first movement out of him. At his sides, Il'Moore'Ni and Loom'Kajnn were adding their own notes; orderly and rhythmic from the former, seemingly random from the latter, yet all weaving together into… more.

These three were always more than they were supposed to, when together.

In front of them stood Ri'bbit. He took that Song, the Song of Guidance and Light. To the Song, he added his own guiding Light. The light of his Shining Citadel crossed the thousands of light-years between them and the World's system, and burst out into space in a thousand thousand beams.

Despite the complexity of the spells they were casting, it was his part that actually mattered. Slowly, he took in the surrounding energies, looking at the system.

This was the system where Ka'vulg's Steel, the fourth War World of the Krork, was struck by the clashing waves of reality, gone at once.

But there were possibilities where it survived.

He gripped the Chances around him. Biel-Tan, successful against the Phalanx centuries ago. Godkiller, which struck against the great misfortune of the Twins. Jane, she who succeeded so overwhelmingly against impossible odds and impossible chances both.

Imbac grasped the beams, guiding them. Into the cracks they went, the fissures in reality where nothing was certain. Millions of timelines, in hopes that one will find a temporal copy that was still there, one that could be guided into reality by the Light of the Citadel, by the Songs of Guidance.

The overwhelming majority of the fissures weren't deep enough. Not one in a hundred was a possibility. Yet thousands allowed to be probed. All of Imbac's power over time was being invested into that single timeless moment in the past, where Ka'vulg's Steel met its fates.

Imbac could barely see inside. But the Blind Seer cared not for that. It was the human who gave the Slann the advantage in the darkness of these dimensions.

In dozens of locations upon the storm-ridden, incomprehensible skies, circles appeared. Embryonic gateways. Most of them were destined to dissipate within seconds, but so long as one survived, one opened enough to let the War World through, the ritual will be a success.

Only twenty potential gateways remained now. Twenty wormholes leading to them. Twenty possible Kavulg's Steels being guided into the Materium.

But…

Something went wrong.

Deep inside the multidimensional space containing the wormholes, Imbac could feel the tunnels twist. Two of them clashed together, sending shockwaves across. With the mightiest effort, both from him and the others, he managed to stabilise the rest.

"I see you lack something," a voice sounded next to him.

Cegorach.

Glancing aside, the Slann saw the Eldar god holding five Siren runes in his hands.

"Fire-shaping runes?" he asked as he desperately concentrated on the ritual. "What have they got to do with this?"

"Oh, nothing," the Jester stated. "The runes themselves, nothing. Their history, however… you are succeeding too well. And that's the one kind of success you didn't prepare for."

By now, only fourteen tunnels had a chance of succeeding.

With a flick of his hand, Cegorach activated the runes. The tiny trickle of their power flew into and dissolved inside the torrent of the Slann power.

And at once, the tunnels started straightening.

"Inconceivable," Imbac breathed out. "How did you do that?"

"I added some history of the same kind of success," the god shrugged. "You need the proper narrative. The proper… punchline." Now, he held three weapons. Three different models of the Impaler gun.

With a single move of his hand, metal spikes flew out of the barrels, melting into the stream of power as well.

By then, Cegorach held four vials of Nynye bioweapons.

Such successes were hardly unheard of, after all.

The paths kept straightening.

Thanks to @Andres for checking. @Durin, I decided to post this.

4) pretty much
You know on the archetype weren't intentional thing, I wonder how some elder race researchers, who studied archetypes their whole life, would react to the fact somebody with only the barest understanding of the concept created something like the primarchs.
