The Gamer of Defiance Quest (Gamer/Defiance/SI)

I don't know what a con capstone is. Sorry.
You know how in the gamer how Han got bonus skills when he got to int 50 and 100?

Those our what I mean by capstone skills/perks, as they are gained only after reaching a high level in a stat.

Because in the last Gamer quest I did, people spent literally every stat point on Luck. I'm trying to avoid that in this quest, by allowing Luck to be won in games of chance, and by the no more than 3 limit.
But that kinds of cripples using points for other stats too. As hording points until one can push for great gain is one of our great strengths as a gamer too.

Since having the choice if we get into a tough fight later or great challenge, to just bootstrap ourselves to a new level of power to handle said issue is kind of core to the whole stat system.

Otherwise why even use it? Since it kinds of takes away the point of being able to spend points.

Also, I forgot to tell you guys about an extra roll. For the punches, you rolled a 23, and I did a100+ 23% of 350 rounded up for the number you can successfully do. It's probably much higher now.
Oh people will love us in a fight now won't they?:D

Though for the punches, is that number how many we can throw in a flurry without a break in one burst, how many we can throw before tiring out and needing a rest or some combo of the two?

I see your point. Yes, Sleepless was something I was going to give you guys at LVL 25.

Yeah, okay. The five point rule is removed. Just don't spend it all on Luck or I'll be sad.

A combo of the two. That was your flurry that you kept up until tired.

Ah, so a level perk then and not a stat one, Good to know.

Thank you kindly for that mate.

Though if you still have worries about stat dumping, you could make it that once we reach a capstone in a stat we can't put any more points in it again until we do a quest, get a certain title or something of that ilk.

As that way you could prevent things from getting to out of hand with stat dumping if you wish and make us really work from those high tier uber specialized builds.

Nice, and how long did it take us to catch our breath and be able to do so again if we don't want to wait for our mana to recharge? As our we like Han and only need a sec of two to be fully out of fatigue again, or do we need to catch our breath and rest between going all out like a normal person?

Good idea.

It takes five to ten seconds to catch your breath.

[X] Meditate. Become one with the stars, the Earth, and yourself. Take the path towards ascendancy.
sure it eats up an action but grinding that skill will pay off when the fights start.
[X] Look into jobs. The restaurant Delights of Daribo wants someone to help paint the exterior. They're willing to pay a small amount for anyone willing to work. 95% chance of success. 25-60 EXP. 30 Scrips. Increased relations with Delights of Daribo. Increased relations with Swoga Tilemso. 40% chance of Housework skill. Counts as 1 action.
[X] Look into jobs. A wealthy merchant wants someone to wash his roller. It's not a very dignified job, but it looks like it pays well, and you only have to do the exterior. Materials for doing the job are provided by Mr. Bedford. 100% chance of success. 30-70 EXP. 50 Scrips. Counts as 1 action.
[X] Go to the haryiv. You're going to get your money's worth for training in Castithan martial arts.
[X] find an area with no people and try your hand at freerunning, moblity is always useful.
[X] Explore the town on your own. 1 action each. Rewards are a surprise. Will expand Sam's knowledge, allies, and armory in varying ways.

Regarding the cooking job, has everyone noticed that we can forego the relatively small 30 scrip payment for lessons in cooking Castithan food that'll grant +2 to our cooking skill?

Also, what are your thoughts on the mining job? It seems like a good chance to gain money, experience, and new quests. There's a little danger, but that's what our combat skills are for, right?

Vote locks tomorrow at 3:00 EST.

No image today (probably something later), but I will grant you lore. The Republic of Texas was formed in 2035, with the Pale War having been over for almost four years at the time of foundation. A battered unit of National Guardsmen stationed near Amarillo fortified the ruined city, and soon formed a stable economy out of it. Soon enough, they had managed to form ties with other city-states formed out of the ruins, and created a self-sufficient republic out of the whole mess.

The Republic of Texas in the modern day is an authoritarian presidential democracy, and is the second strongest human state in the former United States. They enjoy warm relations with Columbia and the varying petty nations of North America. Their neighbors consider them a bit backwards, but they're no more different than their neighbors in terms of development. In the case of Jackson or Ciudad Victoria.

Texas is a lot different culturally than someone from 2015 would remember it being. Due to the massive influx of refugees from Central America, human and Votan, Texas is a very multicultural place. There are an almost equal number of Spanish-speaking and English-speaking peoples in the state, and said languages are taught in Texan schools.

Amarillo is very welcoming to Mexican/Votanis refugees, and is happily expansionist. The Rio Grande is too irradiated for Texan colonization, but the government is moving west and east at a moderate pace. One year ago, the city state of Shreveport was subsumed into Amarillo's government.

Texas would only consider joining the Earth Republic if they were awarded significant autonomy, and if there was easy access between the two, such as maglev lines, more developed naval routes, or something like that, they might already be a member. But as it is, Texas is independent and proud.

So guys, might I ask why all of you are not voting to get a alarm clock or for a plan that gets one when we have by the QM?

As with this info, why would we not get a clock when it gives us a constant +1 to our daily actions?
in this case it's because I suspect that most of the people voting for my plan won't check the thread till after the vote lock. if they had all gone plan silversun i would have dropped something in favor if the alarmclock and posted a notiice but since they copied the plan all that does in lower the number of votes for some things i want to happen.

Well that sucks, as not trying for the clock here is just wasteful. :(

Retcon: Haryiv lessons are now Saturday, not Sunday. That was a mistake I made, and it's a bit late to fix it.

[X] Plan Daily Grind V2
Quick question, with us punching a tree didn't wouldn't we also take damage?
Wondering if we got some sort of a Damage Reduction skill or do need something else to hit us to gain that skill....

Well considering we got the perk of not being able to hurt ourself against the things we are hitting with unarmed mastery, I'm betting we can only get DR from taking hits from another.

So to get that we might want to look into maybe joining a fighting ring or the ilk that puts in a easy place to do so.

@jcw3

So jcw3, considering the amount of martial arts that go into things like breathing skills, ki, chakras and the like. Would it be possible to find skillbooks for such that would give us effects like the Han's passive martial arts skill here? Or would those do something else in this setting or nothing at all?

Also, if we later pick up books or train in other martial arts, would we have separate skills for such or would they just combine and become a mixed martial arts skill?

You could, and I'm planning on you getting those skills if you keep up with the haryiv. Most of them would be from Votan martial arts, though.

Separate skills for a time, until you refine them into something you like, and create a new skill for yourself.

Neat.

As who doesn't like to make their own style of combat? :D

Though if we do that and when we get the psy powers later, we might have to dodge both the Ironman and Jedi jokes then. :p
