The Dragon Ascendant: NO SV: Welcome To Another Viserys Targaryen Quest (A Ck2 Quest)

Ironically enough, the people he hired are sane, sensible and loyal.

Just the ideas they are speaking are pretty insane by Westerosi Standerds.

What is... (Looks at rolls) Popular sovereignty and Accountable Government, and courts with a jury of their peers?
Well, TBH knowing he is a Tully I expected something much worse...

I mean it is still going to be a pain in the ass to deal with the aftermath of that on top of everything else, but I approve of his ideas.

Turns out, Edmure has been dedicating all his actions and rolls to Smallfolk stuff.

He rolled a nat 100... And met with a political thinkers who just so happened to be lads who have been developing this shit since Aerys.

As it turns out, the Smallfolk, in the Riverlands at least, have had enough.

And they are really looking for representation, Or they will Burn everything we have started to build to the ground out of spite.

Turns out, when you have been trampling on them for the better part of two centuries, and the lord actually wants to work with you because he is a good an honest man who wants the best for you.

there tends to be some changes. Big changes coming.

Actually: I have a question:

In exchange for a rumor mill of the… Essos places and Slavers Bay

Would you accept the update being delayed until the weekend?

Edit: I shit you not half the free cities rolled lower then 20. It's actually kinda hilarious.

TBH, I prefer the update, but if you prefer to write the Essos Rumor Mill before the update, then go for it...
I am laughing at the apparent ineptitude of all the free cities are at war without every mercenary company that they normally wage war with… because Alexander's host hired them all years ago and now he's so wealthy he can buy a kingdom if he want and decide the fate of Essos for the next hundred years.

Ain't life funny like that.

That also sounds pretty hilarious to read about...

So… I'm laughing and continuing to laugh at the total clusterfuck that has just happened in Essos.

Everyone was gambling on you joining up because otherwise no could do shit.

It's amazing the amount of incompetence on display.

And you bet Stannis' dry wit will be very loud here.

So basically, they declared War and then just sat there awkwardly and did nothing?

Heh...hilarious.

I do want that Essos rumor mill. Delay until weekend end I say.

Hey anyone want to take over the River Rhoynar the land is just sitting there?
Sorry but unless the Rhoynor people (Aka the dornish) are willing to pull an Israel for land they have not seen or cared for for 3000 years…

Not going to happen. Specially now that the magic is back and the Mother is really fucking angry at everyone who sails her without permission.

They are really lucky, if there were any Dothraki left, or if we were interested in expanding into Essos, quite a few of the Free Cities would have been conquered/destroyed

We should really do something about all that slavery.

Unfortunately we cannot do all that much... Maintaining Westeros neutrality during this Clusterfuck has many benefits, but we cannot really intervene there in Essos...

Which is a shame, I can totally see Viserys putting the same stunt that Dany did in canon, and getting an excelleny army for free (I mean we would still need to paid then once we free them, but still), a port in Essos, and a new friend for Dany

Essos Rumor mill (298 AC)
Essos Rumor mill (298 AC):

Braavos:
  • In Braavos, news of the Sealords Murder has shaken the city to its very core. Among his war council, ten were killed, along with the First Sword, and the High Admiral, in a wildfire explosion that rocked the city in the deep of night. After the Fires were extinguished, and the dead were counted, the entire war council was either dead, or so severly burned that they might not survive. Any chance at an offensive, either on land or at sea, was dealt a significant blow.
    • From Garret: How things work is, when there is a war, and the Sealord dies, the entire city holds an emergency election, and the Patricians choose someone from among their ranks, and that man is the new sealed. The Problem is, now that half the men who can become sealed are dead, now there is gridlock. The Navy wants one of their captains as sealed, while the Merchants want another one of them to take over. And it may lead to a civil war if it is not soon corrected or a compromise is made.

  • House Floris is ascendent, the minor merchant family, led by Ballio Floris that was rocked by scandal and trickery many years ago, now sit as the new grand admirals of the Braavosi Fleet, and with their skills in battle, and wit in diplomacy, they have considered the favorites to lead as the Sealords. However, there is a great and terrible rumor, that he despises the new King of Westeros, Viserys the Third, and will do anything to make his life a living hell, for humiliating him, and his brother, so many years ago.
    • From Garret: Oh fuck. Let's hope he has no hard feelings after we robbed him. Though considering the words that he used to describe you is "An incomparable sisterfucker, who is a thief a murderer and a whore…" I'm not inclined to believe our interests will be looked out for in the city. I've prepared our agent in the city to get out if things go bad.

Lys:
  • The Rogare Family has been rocked by Scandal, the rumors have broken out that many of the Rogare family, instead of being the fine family that Lys knows them as, were in fact, formally enslaved, a great shame and dishonor on all the Lysini families. If it were not for the purges they enacted on the other families and council, they would have been sacked. But there are whispers of a hero among the Lysini people. A hero named Vaeltigar. A Hero who may save them all.
    • From Oberyn: Now I'm not one to judge how a man gets famous and rich, but I am one to ask how in the Seven Hells did you manage to win an entire city over to your side, to the point where, everyone seems to want to have you as their king, or see you as a liberator from people who honestly think they are better than you. If so, what did you do?
  • The Lysine Generals are in outrage with the lack of supplies and equipment the Rogares have given them. Only a thousand swords they say, and three hundred horses for an entire army. They are not prepared to fight a war, much less one without the mercenaries of Essos, seeing as they are off on adventure and glory with a mad man. They are not ready for war, and may never be.
    • From Stannis: A nation that goes to war and wishes to find victory cannot win. That was a saying in one of the masters of Yi-Ti Warfare that I have read in my time. Once again, it comes true that relying on mercenaries and volunteers for a states army will not stand. If it were up to me, I would have prepared for war years in advance, instead of playing stupid.

Pentos:
  • The Prince of Pentos has protested the war, calling the politics and the wish of the magistrates who only wish to kill him and see another prince being placed on it. He is a good man, and many, even the frontiers outposts ot the guardsmen of the city, see that the prince is right. The War they want to fight is not one they will win, and the Prince is the only sane man among all the leaders. Perhaps it is time for the Prince to lead. So instead of the magistrates being able to kill the Prince on a whim, only one thing remains certain. The People want their prince to lead. Not to die.
    • From Stannis: When a man that is an over-glorified sacrifice to the city is more sane and rational than the men who are elected to lead, there is a great problem in that society. I do not like the Prince, when I met him, he seemed like a fool. But I will say this, he is right, and he has won people to his side. But instead of fighting a foreign war… he will fight a civil one, for his own survival if nothing else.
Norvos:
  • The city has hunkered down, the bearded priests having prepared for their lives for a defense of the great city. They are prepared to die, and nothing else. However, the Magistrate of the city have been worried about the priests overcoming many of his lord's and generals. He fears their overprotective stratigum of sitting and waiting will be detrimental to future success.
    • From Stannis: Religious zealots have no cause for dictating strategy over the interests of a state. The Priests should have followed the magistrate's lead on this.

Volantis and alleis and Qohor:
  • Volantis and it's allies, Myr and Tyrosh tried to attack the Qohor host on open ground, with slave armies. They were destroyed by a single host of five hundred men, hiding behind wagons, and a river. The reports are still leaving Essos, and are more fairytale than fact, but one thing is certain. Qohor obliterated three armies with only 500 men.
    • From Stannis: I need to find the commander of that battle and talk to him, so much of the truth is being lost. And I fear we may have a new player in Essos. A dominant one.

Alesander's Host:

No word. it's like they disappeared from the face of the earth.

Slavers Bay:
  • The Unsullied have revolted against their masters. The Leader, a soldier by the name of Grey Wrym, had been visited by the goddess of their worship, the Lady of the Spears, and told him that they were not just soldiers, but they were her disciples, her children, and her weapons, to destroy the very slavers that defiled her so long ago, forced her into becoming a whore for their griffons and harpies, being forced into nothing, as she was slowly stripped away of everything that made her whole. But she was now free from her bondage, and she was free to tell her lost and forgotten and enslaved Sons… that now was the time to rise. To become the conquerors of the world as she had seen to them. She had comforted them in their youths, helped them survive in the small ways that they would have never known. But she is now here. And they are now free. All the Masters were dead. And all the Slaves in Yunkai were free.
    • From Arianne: It seems like a nice story, but there is no truth in that… there can't be. There can never be a happy ending in Slavers Bay. I hope it is true, however, in my deepest thoughts. Perhaps there can be justice in this world after all.

Other News:

  • Deep in the Volcano's of the doom, where passing ships hand by the islands, but never draw closer. Some men here a song. A song of Dragons in the Doom. Some who have heard the song in Volantis know that they are babies in there. But that also means one thing. Where is the Mother?

AN: Enjoy.

I know we wanted neutrality, but can we intervene here? Getting a free port in Essos would be extremely useful and since it is on a island it would be really easy to defend.

And it is not conquering if the people want to be ruled by you...

Ok, the most reasonable leader in this clusterfuck, and they want to kill him... What a shame, but hardly surprising...

VERY OMINOUS...

THAT IS AMAZING!!! Well, lets hope that our dear wife is wrong, and the Slavers Bay System gets totally burned down and rebuilt into something new and better... Still the part about conquering the Word is a little worrying

Well, fortunately, we did not pick that particular doom so we are safe...

Even then I would really love to find guys crazy enough to get to Valyria, there was a lot of loot that we were unable to pick last time we were theres

if things keep going the Way of House Floris, unfortunately, it might lead to some problems.

However, we have basically made ourselves, at least in the short term... unassilible. After all, we have no debts to them, and we have said we wished for neutrality. and they know that shit can get really fuckign hard if we force ourselves to go hard.
I know we wanted neutrality, but can we intervene here? Getting a free port in Essos would be extremely useful and since it is on a island it would be really easy to defend.
Nope.

At least without breaking your promise and making your lords hate your guts. A king that goes flimsly with his promises like Aerys did tend to be hated a lot.
Ok, the most reasonable leader in this clusterfuck, and they want to kill him... What a shame, but hardly surprising...
The thing is, the fact that so many people want to agree with him, and don't want to murder him, is something that can be seen as the City of Pentos going through a political revolution.

After all, it's an oligarchy that has lost a great deal of legitimacy entirely due to our actions of fucking Illryio over.

There is going to be a great change.
And that is why Meagor was such a great king... You never want to have complete zealots controlling anything resembling an army
Well, at least in our case, with Maegor, he just single handily changed the fabric of Westerosi Society in less than one generation, even after his father did that with the iron throne.

And he did a good thing too.
Well, I have no idea how they did it, but my guess is that the City of Magic will have great advantage when magic awakens
Correct, and they really don't like us due to... issues with the Black Goat not liking us doing some magic shit with the iron throne.
Heres a hint:

They've become the Black Company in a sense.

Fantasy mercenaries fighting off against a very great magical evil. And they may not survive.
THAT IS AMAZING!!! Well, lets hope that our dear wife is wrong, and the Slavers Bay System gets totally burned down and rebuilt into something new and better... Still the part about conquering the Word is a little worrying
the thing about the Lady of Spears is, she promotes a very... Mandalorian style of culture to her unsulied children. Expect a great deal of unification and a great deal of bloodshed coming up soon for the free cities. and slavers bay.

And expect a lot of those orphaned kids who are still alive to be adopted by the Unsullied and the freed slaves.

It's going to get bad, and then its going to get really etter.

If the Unsullied are not killed.
Well, fortunately, we did not pick that particular doom so we are safe...
But hey...

Wild Dragons are alive everyone.
Even then I would really love to find guys crazy enough to get to Valyria, there was a lot of loot that we were unable to pick last time we were theres
only three sailors are good enough to do such a mission.

Davos, Gerion (who will not go there ever again, one mad adventure is enough) and... Stannis the Mannis.

So here is an omake challenge for you all:

Stannis the Mannis talking to Davos about the changing world.
