The Dragon Ascendant: NO SV: Welcome To Another Viserys Targaryen Quest (A Ck2 Quest)

The High Septon has denounced you as a Heretic, forsaking many of the great traditions of the Seven and the Seven kingdoms with your wants of fancy, and breaking of many traditions within the long history of Westeros. Nine members on the guard, eight on the Small Council. A King who is lacking in faith and in control.
  • From Lord Tyrell: These are rumors, nothing more. The faith has always respected the laws of Westeros and your rule in it. Even with, radical changes that you have done during the first months of your rule. There is nothing to these rumors. I promise you that.
No offense, Dude, but you trying to assure us there's nothing to this only makes me want to investigate this even more.

Balon Greyjoy is, by the words of the few servants that see him, unwell. What little hair he clings to is wiry and white, he is barely eating, and his mind seems farther afield with each day; he is said to fall silent for hours, staring out into the bay, then without prompting or incidence begin to scream at his father, or his brothers, or his sons, or simply put forth incoherent frothing while rushing about the ruins of Pyke; other times, he is said to be found scrabbling for bugs in the stonework or noisily slurping at standing water. It is quickly becoming a question of when, not if, someone new will sit on the Seastone Chair.
Not gonna lie...I actually kinda feel sorry for him.

Septons in the Starry Sept have taken to giving sermons about the coming end times, with the Magic of the World returning, and how the Faith needs its strength to face this great trouble, and defeat it with fire and steel. The Inquisition of the seven, an institution that was outlawed during Maegor the Cruels reign has reformed again, with its inquisitors, acting without your authorization, to act as judge jury, and executioner to any they consider "Cursed."
You are going down posthaste. I'm already conjuring up the Spirit of Meagor for Advice.

  • Men of Fair Isle have claimed to be seeing lights near the horizon of the Sunset Sea in the dark of night. However, no ships have come from the direction of these lights, and no ships sailing forth have found anything or anyone when they look. The Ironborn have been accused of some kind of shenanigans, but Lord Harlaw swears that no Ironborn are in that area, and none have any interest in harassing House Farman anyhow.
From the Master of Ships: Your Grace, I must state that the men of Lonely Light have seen the same light on the horizon. And while we know next to nothing about the lands further west of Westeros, I must say something of a rumor, an old tale that has been told by Ironmen since the beginning of time immemorial. The Great Ones put up a barrier to prevent us from going further west. And it has been broken, according to those same legends. And something horrible lies beyond it. But they are just stories, and stories are not what I take stock in.
It is beginning...
House Frey is ascendant! Despite entering the war on the wrong side, somehow the ever-present house has turned its fortunes around. There are now six Freys in contention for lordship of keeps across the Riverlands, with young Olyvar Frey taking lordship of the Twins, supported by the younger generation of Freys against the other heirs and claimants. Called Olly the Unlikely by the local smallfolk, the rise of Walder Frey's eighteenth son (and 50th in line!) was as unexpected as it was bloody: after their elders wrought destruction upon themselves, the youngest Freys took to arms and raised Olyvar to the lordship, putting down any that stood against them and hoped to continue fighting against the Dragon and his allies.
I'm fine with this. Let's hope Olyvar can repair the Reputation of his Family.
Samwell Tarly, of the Citidel, an acolyte that has been a prodigy in many of the subjects of his choosing, had invented something that may change the world. He had seen stamps from Yi-Ti, stamps that would print single words onto a page or scroll. He started making a few letters for Westerosi Common, and then, using a wine press, modified for his usage then he made a page on the Seven-Pointed Star. Than another. And Another. In less than a week, he finished the Book of Angels. Two weeks the Letters of the Saints. Four Weeks, the entire book. He has invented something that can, with time, print books.
  • From Maester Bill: He is the most brilliant man who has ever graced the citadel. That is All I can say. And if we can recreate his invention, there will be more books than the world will know what to do with.
My BOI getting a Chance to really shine! His Father really was an Idiot to never see what good he got with him.
  • On Tarth, Lady Brienne of Tarth is said to have battled the shadows that sprung against her Father and her stepmother, attacking the pregnant woman with dreams and deadly poisons not of this world. But Brienne had been blessed by the Light of the Seven and with the armor of light and steel from the Smith itself, she battled the evil and purged it from the lands. The Seven have blessed their champion on this world it seems, and it is the ugly Daughter of Tarth.
  • Another Ship crashed into ship breaker bay, but no survivors were found. But there have been reports of the plant life in and around the castle, are being drained of life. The Smallfolk are fearful that darkness has been summoned, with the Iron Throne being destroyed.
Well, well...isn't THAT ominous?
  • In Slavers Bay, there is talk of an influx of tens of thousands of slaves. Alesander's conquest and destruction of the Dothraki were as complete as the destruction of the Sarnor, thousands of years ago. The only ones who survived were in chains. This was no war. This was Genocide. And it was complete in less than a year.
*fights down urge to go all General Sherman on these Assholes* We promised we'd stay out of Essos for now, we promised we'd stay out of Essos for now...!!
Lord Edric Dayne, of Starfall, has taken Dawn, and has become the Sword of the Morning. This comes after an unknown person attempted to steal the blade from the Vault of the Stars. The Blade then began to fly through the air, and towards the North, and the Dornish Marshes. Before being etched into the Stone outside the keep of the Lightning Lord. Many men tried to claim it, but the Boy Lord pulled the sword from the Stone and felt the power within him that only Dawn could give. And the Blade spoke to him, "The Dark is coming. So Bring the Dawn."
  • From Maester BIll: I have no idea what happened, but it seems that Dawn is more powerful than any believed. It may be wise to investigate before things get stranger.
Yup. This is awesome.
New hope rises for House Baratheon! After finding its future on a knife's edge with only a greyscaled daughter (and countless bastard nieces and nephews) to Lord Stannis' name, Lady Selyse has sent word that the blessings of R'hllor shine upon her house – she is pregnant. Rumors fly around, most being variations on themes of Lady Selyse being a witch who has gotten with dark powers for her new baby, but no rumor is quite so wild as the one that says upon receiving the news, a smile came to the infamously stony Lord Stannis' face.
  • From Stannis: Any man who claimed that I smiled will earn Twenty Five Lashes. Except for Ser Davos.
Oh, Stannis, Words cannot express how much I LOVE you.
In King's Landing, the Man who could be safely called "The Dragon Knight" Continues to evade capture, with many of the Guards thinking he is less a man and more a myth, a spirit of the great knights who lived in the city. Some even think he's Aemon the Dragon Knight come again. Others think he's Daemon Blackfyre, taking revenge on the city that should be his.
  • From Chatya: I have seen a great number of rumors in my life, but none of them have ever struck me as odd, like this. A Man beating up criminals for no reason other than that they are scum. And need to be brought to justice, and your Watch is utterly incompetent to anything about it? Madness. But I can't say I don't approve of this Knights's actions. My girls feel safe walking the streets at night, and that is something I have never heard before in this city.
Let's hope we can come to Terms with the Dragon-Man sooner or later.
  • Maybe it's the return of the old dynasty. Maybe it's because King Viserys took down Robert, the bloody butcher of Pyke. Or maybe it's because he took down Tywin Lannister, and to their minds he did it "like an Ironborn", paying the Iron Price rather than with gold or with words. Regardless, the Iron Islands sit as firmly by the new king's side as any dragonseed. Calls for independence or renewed rebellion now are not quietly whispered at taverns or bantered between lords, but thoroughly beaten out of whoever was stupid enough to voice aloud the idea of turning on their now-beloved "Stormbreaker."
  • The Iron Fleet, once destroyed by the Baratheons, is now reborn and sailing the seas alongside mainlander ships instead of hunting them. Under Lord Harlaw, many of the Ironborn have become privateers rather than raiders, accompanying mainlander ships as paid protection through pirate-haunted waters. Some at home might grumble about the Gold Price replacing the Iron Price and the Old Ways being waylaid once again by old Lord Quellon's ideals, but any captain asked seems thrilled. Baelor Blacktyde is claimed to have said, "We get as much gold to shield these Greenlanders as we would from boarding them, and we get to practice the Old Ways on any pirate stupid enough to cross us! Iron and Gold do us better together than either did alone."
The Ironborn, finally becoming the Vikings they were always meant to be instead of clinging to Raiding and being Stupid Evil.
  • An unnamed keep on the smallest of the Fingers was said to have been burned to the ground by a party of twenty cloaked men. Lord Royce Coldwater led his men to apprehend this party, but found none of the arsonists. Upon returning to Coldwater Burn, however, he had in his company some dozen wandering orphaned children. Lord Royce fed and housed them for the night, saying he wished to "question the little birds" about who or what they might have seen in the morning. He claims to be deeply embarrassed that they all somehow slipped his grasp before the following dawn and could not be recovered.
*glares* You'll get what's coming to you, Littlefinger, just you wait...!!
  • Jon Arryn returned home from King's Landing a broken man, and was not improved by sending his only son to King's Landing. This act, along with Ser Brynden's departure for the Kingsguard, led to such a fight between Lord Arryn and his wife that even the normally taciturn and insular highborn have remarked on its ferocity and cruelty from both parties. Many say it only ended because Lord Arryn struck her with enough force to separate her jaw. A heavy silence has since reigned in the Eyrie, some suspect only because of the bandages keeping the lady's jaw in place and mouth closed.
  • Hill clansmen have been making a greater nuisance of themselves than usual, some even daring to attack the Bloody Gate. This has left many highborn of the Vale on edge, none more so than Lady Lysa. Whispers about the apparent weakness of Lord Arryn in the face of such brazen raids cannot be traced back to her, for obvious reasons, but suspicion lies squarely on her nonetheless.
Hooo boy, that ain't good.

  • House Stark has marshalled the North to pride of place in the King's allies, and Lord Eddard now serves as Master of Laws in the Small Council, with rumours abounding that either of his eldest children may wed one (or even both!) of the spare Targaryen heirs. Apart from the (expected and unregarded) bitter grumblings of Barbrey Dustin, the lords of the North are proud to have taken part in the Restoration, though some second sons and younger brothers have (very quietly) groused about feeling as turncoats against the Usurper, Robert Baratheon. Under the leadership of Lord Stark, the North has become an economic powerhouse to rival the Reach, and the Northern lords are making the most of this newfound largesse, as they all know well, "Winter is Coming."
  • Lord Gerion Lannister of Long Lake, "The Lion in Winter", has welcomed his second child and first son, Jacen Lannister. Work has now begun in earnest on his keep with the end of the war and his return to the North, and he hopes to have his little family out of Winterfell, and the Starks' hair, by next year's end. It is said that young Lady Sansa thinks of young Lady Joy to be like a sister to her, and is displeased at the idea of the Lannisters departing.
  • Domeric Bolton is said to have come down with terrible sickness after returning home from the war. Lady Dacey has managed the Dreadfort in her lord husband's stead, apparently causing some uproar in the town by dismissing many of the old lord's favored servants and burning old heirlooms and keepsakes in a bonfire far from the castle's walls. The smell is said to have been repellent, and to have lingered for days.
  • Jon Snow, the Bastard of Winterfell, has made great waves within the North as a warrior. In the Winterfell Melee that happened earlier this year, held by his brother, Robb Stark, in honor of all the men and women who fought in the Restoration. In over 2 hours of bloody combat, a marathon of fighting of over three hundred men and women, the melee went to a bloody conclusion, as Jon Snow, beat Great Jon Umbar as the last man standing, winning the victors purse of 50,000 dragons.
  • Lord Theon Greyjoy has requested to return home, and Lord Stark did not feel the need to say no. He is already one of Lord Starks most loyal Captians in the Sunset sea, and with the great change that has come to Westeros, the threat of violence to keep them in line is no longer needed. Balon cannot even control the men and women in Pyke, those that are still alive rebuilding the keep, and preparing for his return.
  • More news from Winterfell, as the crippled yet intelligent Lord Brandon Stark, seemed to be having prophetic dreams. In his dreams, he claims that he is flying, not on the back of a dragon, but within a crow. And that beyond the Wall, someone is calling for him to come North. His mother refuses to allow him to do so, but there is a lot of Talks throughout the North, that Brandon Stark is the Next Greenseer of the North. The Prophet of the Old Gods.
All very interesting. Let's see how the North will fare in years to come.

Well Mace may be the Ace, but he is not the best and lying straight to our face. This is also why I wanted to wait until next turn to start the Septon/Faith Actions.

i wanted to set this shit up to where you may need to start getting involved.
Not gonna lie...I actually kinda feel sorry for him.
This is Balon were talking about. you shouldn't feel sorry for him.
You are going down posthaste. I'm already conjuring up the Spirit of Meagor for Advice.
Maegor's Ghost: So you let them get and inch? My god, that Robert fellow was an absolute cunt!
Indeed.
I'm fine with this. Let's hope Olyvar can repair the Reputation of his Family.
The Freys will be interesting to say the least.
My BOI getting a Chance to really shine! His Father really was an Idiot to never see what good he got with him.
Samwell just invented the printing press.

Westeros is changing, and there nothing we can do about it, except join the change, or try and stop it.
Well, well...isn't THAT ominous?
Brienne is a Faith of the Seven, Paladin Dnd protagonist right now.

So expect her to gather a team of adventures and scooby doo her way through... Westeros.
*fights down urge to go all General Sherman on these Assholes* We promsied we'd stay out of Essos for now, we promised we'd stay out of Essos for now...!!
Speaking of Burning Sherman, Dany has a new action avalible.
Oh, Stannis, Words cannot express how much I LOVE you.
Stannis is like an old teacher. Everyone respects him, but no one knows anything about him, save for some... Davos centric stories.
Let's hope we can come to Terms with the Dragon-Man sooner or later.
Hey @Stardust&Scotch remember when you said that Batman would appear if everyone wanted it enough?

(Cue the Animated Series Theme)

He has. And he is in need of a robin.
The Ironborn, finally becoming the Vikings they were always meant to be instead of clinging to Raiding and being Stupid Evil.
The Ironborn are becoming actual Vikings instead of stereotypical Vikings.

Good shit.
All very interesting. Let's see how the North will fare in years to come.
Lets just say that if Bran is the Prophet, bad things may happen that we need to deal with.

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na ~DRAGON MAN~ ~DRAGON MAN~ ~DRAGON MANNNN~

So many rumors, and yet this is all I have in my head. I'll go re-read and try to get the rest to stick 😂

So how was the rumor mill?
Really interesting, there were many little details which I loved, like the commentaries of our counselors (especially the ones from Bill)... And it seemed like most things are going great (besides the Faith and the ominous details, which announce the arrival of the Aztecs...

There are quite a few things that I will really love to read in the next update...

First of all recruiting recruit Brienne for leading the Quensguard Project, since she is now basically a Paladin from the WoW

I also hope that we can interact with Bran and Jon, Bran because I want Bill to know him and study his greenseer abilities and Jon Because once we have the Talk about the Tower of Joy with Ned have Ned´s Conversation about the Tower of Joy we can get our niece back with us... (We kind of already know something is off thanks to Rhaegar)
"Than ask her brother about what really happened at the Tower of Joy when the war is done." He stated. "If you survive of course."

But for what I am most excited about is the whole "Faith of the Seven" thingy, and I love the opportunity to channel our dear old Meagor, when dealing with them (I find that burning down inquisitors has a certain kind of poetic irony). And Afterwards, I hope that we can get on the seat of High Septon someone like Ray (Maribald 2.0) which will probably help a lot in the Long Run

And I have to say, I did not expect such a reaction for breaking the "Holy/Lucky 7" in the small council or in Kingsguard (hell we are for now the only generation of Targaryens 100% incest free)... But hey, we can just put them down hard, so when we do the "big things" no one dares to screw around with HOLY TRADITION nonsense.

The thing about some of the details was: Soem of those details were straight from @Stardust&Scotch Three headed Dragon, and while others are there to clearly show that this is my own spin things, the influence is felt everywhere.

The Rumor mill itself with councilors commentary is one of those things I was stupid not showing sooner in any of my other quests.

I will say that, While Brienne is basically a paladin, she is only a novice who scored consecutive nat 20's when dealing with her problems at home, before running away to make things go good for other people.

I guarantee you that her story, even if you don't recruit her, will not be over any time soon.

Especially when Robert Arryn gets a little older. Sweet Jesus that kid rolled two nat 100's in a row, and now I need to make him important in court.

Plus it seems that Gendry and more of Roberts Basterds running around being the warriors or crazy mad lads like their father was in their youth.

indeed.

But here is something that you must know. Going North means you must leave court (at the very least the capital, you can bring court with you of course) for a while, and right now, with your rule still being under threat.

To be honest, the Faith's deal goes far deeper then our bucking of tradition.

Far deeper.

remember all that debt Robert took from them. Lets just say that he did something really fucking stupid.

And we have to clean it up.
And I have to say, I did not expect such a reaction for breaking the "Holy/Lucky 7" in the small council or in Kingsguard... But hey, we can just put them down hard, so when we do the "big things" no one dares to screw around with HOLY TRADITION nonsense.
The thing is, the Faith of the Seven is really big in Westeros and having its big traditions being broken is a really bad look for the Faith that is already pretty weak. (Though... with an inquisition)

Still less stupid than Cersei was when she reinstated the Faith's Military
indeed.

But here is something that you must know. Going North means you must leave court (at the very least the capital, you can bring court with you of course) for a while, and right now, with your rule still being under threat.
TBH, I was expecting to bring them both to the South... They must miss their beloved sisters and father terribly, and they will love to see the Kingdom's Capital

And it will become significantly waker in the close future.

Fuck, a badass SweetRobyn? I'm totally flabbergasted...

Great, we can say many things about Robert, but he had awesome genes...

I still want her in our court... One on the biggest things with the Queensguard is to be able to keep Asha, Brienne, Arya, Dacey, etc Close to us... And you know, you can never have enough loyal and skilled bodyguards, especially with Magic Aztecs coming for our asses

... Oh shit, uh, the Faith Militant may not be reinstated, but you will be shocked to know that Bobby B made some promises that are very... bad for us.

There must always be a Stark in Winterfell.

Remember that.
And it will become significantly waker in the close future.
If we chose to channel Maegor instead of Tywin. Though Tywin may even approve of certain actions.
Fuck, a badass SweetRobyn? I'm totally flabbergasted...
Not really badass, more...

Loyal? Honorable, wishing to be a true knight that his father could not be due to his truthfully poor choices and loyalty to his adoptive son?

We may have a sweet robin who wishes to be far more than just a regular lord. He wants to redeem that family name.
Great, we can say many things about Robert, but he had awesome genes...
All I shall say is Gendry is a strong boy who can break walls with his bare hands. And destroy armored knights with a regular hammer.

And possibly kill a dragon with a warhammer.

Well...

We've got a lot of time for that to happen.

Lot of time.

So any questions before the inevitable Targaryen Fluff piece is posted.

I was thinking more on Dany and Egg...

Or if you want to make it a surprise Dany and Jon...
Ironically, the thing that we may need to worry about is Viserys wishing for baseball team number of kids and Arianne not being able to do that.

Plus Viserys is more then interested in Ariannes solutions to some… boardom problems.

Well, counting our bastards we already have three...

So we are already a third of the way up.

Ok, we need to rescue the children and their mothers ASAP.

I hope that we get the option to do it really soon.
it is already on the turn.

After all: We need to discover if there are other targaryens alive.
Besides that @Magoose when are we going to ask Ned about the Tower of Joy?
Next turn.

Hell I created an entire category called: Faith

to handle the Faith of the Seven. and potential issues in your court that are religious in nature.

Ok, if I have anything to say Viserys or Oberyn are taking The Lonely Dragons next turn...

Good, very good...

Does Jaime or Barristan need a squire? Because I would not mind having him.on our side...
Hell I created an entire category called: Faith

We have to scare them SO FUCKING MUCH, that when we put someone who will reform the Faith for the better no one dares to raise their voices against us

Does Jaime or Barristan need a squire? Because I would not mind having him.on our side...
Barry the Bold is more for shaping up the guard we have now, instead of taking on a squire.

For now at least.

Jaime is too busy being our Hand to do that.
Ok, if I have anything to say Viserys or Oberyn are taking The Lonely Dragons next turn...
THat is entirely up to you.
We have to scare them SO FUCKING MUCH, that when we put someone who will reform the Faith for the better no one dares to raise their voices against us
We could always be diplomatic.

And by diplomatic, I mean start a Schism.
