The Royal Progress 3: Vale Progress
You were sitting on the East road, looking in the distance towards the Mountian of the Moon and the Vale itself. "I have never seen a valley like this before." You muttered as you scratched Ebrion's scales. Everyone was happy to be off the dragon and marching around to the nearest keep on foot, and you stayed far behind them, with your dragon. "Have you?"
Ebrion blew out a puff of smoke and let it fly into the air. Making a ring, before it dissipated in the wind.
"Don't be a smartass." You said rubbing a scale softly
You allowed yourself to rest these days. It was quiet. Calm. The Vale itself from the air and below were quiet, humble, and forested. It was like the Andels themselves could not tame the wild beauty of the south of the mountains itself, and mealy took what they could control.
"Well, at the very least this will be productive." You said. "The Vale shouldn't be too complicated."
Well, that was a lie you were trying to convince yourself to believe…the situation was…complicated.
Jon Arryn was dead. That much was certain when you were planning to leave, and decided to make it your first stop. You needed to control the chaos and make sure Robert Arryn would stay not only safe, but alive when he inevitably returned home.
His mother was strange, confusing, and utterly unpredictable. She had seized power almost immediately and had made several attempts and vague threats to you about returning her son, appealing to your familial duties as a father, and then, to outright political demands for her son to be returned. You had seen the likes of it before. She wanted to make sure her son was safe before she did drastic political actions within the Vale, when she had full control.
This was a classic "I Rule though my son, my word is the law." Sort of regency… it's been done before, and it normally has terrible consequences for the kingdom at large. Civil War most commonly. Well either that or a clear dissolution of power and Usurpation.
Unfortunately for you, Westeros could not survive this type of chaos. Three wars in one lifetime were enough. And everyone was tired of it. You knew it, she knew it. All of Westeros knew it.
And she was trying to leverage those fear for power…and was challenging you to stop her.
But now was not the time to be thinking about that. You needed to rest right now. And talk to those you care about.
Who do you talk to? (The Court):
(Choose 2)
[]Arianne: She took to traveling by Dragon back rather well, considering she was with Dany the entire time. She was not uncomfortable, but she was also not entirely happy. She missed holding you, and you did too.
[]Dany: She is exhausted from the travels and hopes that you will have several weeks staying in one place, so she can rest and recuperate from the travel. She was not used to traveling like that for long distances or time. She also says that she has a new song she wants to share with you.
[]Aegon: He smiles. That bastard loves riding his dragon so much that he doesn't even care about… well the discomfort of his other companions.
[]Bonifar He looked at the dragons, stroking the scales gently as he looked deeply into your face. "Out of all the miracles in the world… Dragon's coming back wasn't the most unexpected. It was you."
[]Oberyn: He will freely admit, that while the experience was worthwhile…he would have trouble going with the dragon again. There is also a report that he wishes to talk to you about.
[]Jon Snow: He is quiet. That much was certain when you rested, but he has something he wishes to speak to you about. Something that is clearly… weighing heavily on his mind.
[]Sansa Stark: She was in awe, staring at you always when she thought you weren't looking. And she had finally gathered the courage to talk to you.
Who do you Talk to? (The Guard):
(Choose 2)
[] Barristan Selmy (Lord Commander): He coughed. "I take it you wish to see me about… arrangements with the local lord's to be camping on their lands?"
[] Brynden Tully: His old bones were quivering from the traveling. "Solid Earth where men belong. Oh your Grace, what is it?"
[] Jaime Lannister: Jaime looked at you "Next time…I'm sitting in the Saddle with you."
[] Arys Oakheart: Arys was quiet, trying to not throw up again…oh my, you guess he had a hard stomach to please.
[] Mandon Moore: The Silent knight finally spoke for the first time in your memory, to you. That wasn't a grunt of some sort. "Hm. It seems you finally remembered I can talk."
Where do you go in the Vale?:
[]Runestone: The Royces have always been honorable and steadfast members of the Vale nobility, and they have always been the first line of defense when it comes to the Hill Tribe incursions. Going there would be a stark political statement. You wanted soldiers and masters of arms.
[]The Sunderlands: House Sunderlands are notorious for piracy of the North, their strange customs, and otherwise hatred for all Eastern Ships. You need to harness that and use it for the Good of Westeros.
[]The Fingers: The Old Keep of Pyter Baelish, and one of the only physical legacies that could be ascertained from his flight…mayhapse a visit will open something of the mind of Littlefinger.
[]Gulltown: The Seat of…House Arryn of Gulltown, the people the Graftons are trying to get their home back from… are a bit more mindful and trade-oriented than their martial cousins, and they have deep ties to Bravvos. Troubling but realistic. The Graftons have been setting their sights on at least buying much of the city to try to force them out. So… there is a great potential… for horrible things to happen, and you need to stop it before it gets worse.
[]The Eyrie: You need to See Jon Arryn off. There is also the very real possibility that you can reign in Lysa with a show of force, rather than letting it fester. The Eyrie also has a very magical aura about it. In a way that few places in Westeros have.
AN: Enjoy, Plan format.
