If we are not switching to murdering this guy at the drop of the hat, shield is probably better than sword for pure defense.

Also, tactical retreat might be in order; there is a tight hallway just behind us, where he couldn't swing this thing like crazy. Would really put a bit of a dumper on those crazy all-cleaving swings.

Also, as a note - Vessel of Despair probably can stretch that scythe pretty far in the same way as Orange stretched that body. If we want to get out of range, we'll need some really respectable distance between us, not just a few steps away.

Anyway, while I'd really like to "SPARE" but this guy really seems to be gone.

Sparing would be nice

And sure shield would be fine, but drill can be offensive and defensive, not to mention oriented to break, damage weapons like scythes.

That is, of course, unless his attacks go through us anyways while we're possessing... Or vice versa
 
Drill is just a shitty spear unless it is spinning. Can we keep it spinning sufficiently fast?

That said, look at those Crazy Diamond Limbs. Strictly speaking, it got pretty nice inbuilt natural weapons already.

No, who talks about murdering him, we want to save him:p, we just know who we have to emulate in order to do it:D,
Our plan is simple after all,
we punch Red across the face, ask him then Just who the hell does he think we are, all while pointing with our Giga drill towards haven and then tell him to stop despairing and that if he can't believe in himself anymore, then he should just believe in us who still believe in him and come with us :D

Define "face". There are several options in this particular case.

Do you mean the faceless white face of despair which is sticking out of his currently-serving-as-a-torso brain, or his brain which as mentioned, currently serves as a torso for the newborn abomination, or the literally empty skull out of which the brainstuff is currently sticking out on a spine made of ghost-matter with what seems to be stars inside of it?

I think we may want to remove "neutralize by force" from our back-up plans, at least for now. They likely can't perma-kill us, if we have the same undying quality that Red mentioned. So, not a threat to us. If they seem likely to be a threat to others using force would likely be necessary, but for now it is not.

I'm down for this, even edited it into my post. I do think we should start trying to pelt throwing stars at the bauble that has his halo in it. Feels very Hollo-Mask/Angel Core... might even return him to normal if it frees his Halo from the incarnation of his own despair.

EDIT: Also, this thing is in the spawn room. If we don't deal with it now it might not be just us that pays the price.

Don't abandon this area entirely, though. We can't leave until Red's been dealt with, one way or another. This is our respawn point. We can't have a vessel of grief wandering around it.
