You look around the command center, and, not for the first time, marvel at the variety of uniforms present, from ZAFT dress uniforms and OMNI jackets to N.U.N.S. fatigues, and even the odd robe of Britannian nobility. The only unifying feature is a patch with your resistance movement's logo and name on the shoulders of everyone: a white double set of wings, with 'Compass' emblazoned right below it.
Damm, quite an achievement for Meer Campbell to keep them all united and fighting together under her command. She really lived up to Lacus' will and legacy and it shows.

"Our attempts to cause unrest in Side 2 have succeeded. Not even the Council was able to cover up what happened." A soldier wearing a Zeon officer's uniform says.
Zeon: "We are good at committing war crimes after all. And this time, we direct it at the Council."

The propaganda announcement is interrupted by a dozen Kämpfers emerging from seemingly inconspicuous cargo containers placed around the Council's newly constructed training grounds. At the same time, 18 Zaku Is blast a hole in the side of the colony wall where they'd infiltrated into the interior.
Reminds me of a signature scene of Mobile Suit Gundam 1979 when the Zeon Zakus attacked Side 7 in an attempt to stop the Federation's V-Project that made the Guntank, the Guncannon and the Gundam.

Djibril self-destructed the Requiem after luring in as many Council forces as he could when he realized he could not flee.
Looks like he decided to go out in a blaze of glory than die unceremoniously like what happened to him in SEED Destiny. At least he is gone, he would be a rotten presence in Meer's united front.

And so, now leadership of the Earth Sphere's resistance falls to you and Compass.
I see that you already saw the Seed Freedom movie, cool.

What happened to the Kingdom of Foundation by the way?

Not for the first time, and certainly not the last, you weep for Lacus Clyne, Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, and so many others who have died fighting the Council.
That's a shocker. I thought they would make it out alive and keep fighting since they're the main character cast.

The problem is that plot armor goes so far to protect you, especially againts multiversal threats.

Unless your name is Chirico Cuvie.

Also should I worry about a diet angel halo's from part of the council due to Kagatie being a fucking idiot as always?

After the death of Durandal, Lord Djibril took over the defense and resorted to simple, but brutal tactics fueled by spite, killing many of the Council at the cost of just as many of his own forces. Unveiling the Requiem superweapon had actually managed to give Earth a slight reprieve as the Council shifted their focus to try and destroy the single most devastating cause of losses among their space fleets up to that point. Djibril's last act was to fire Requiem at a PLANT that had turned traitor and welcomed the Council with open arms. That this led to the deaths of no doubt thousands of likely innocent Coordinators was outweighed by the fact that the leadership of the PLANT in question had committed one of the worst acts of betrayal in the Earth Sphere. Djibril self-destructed the Requiem after luring in as many Council forces as he could when he realized he could not flee.

Well, for once Djibril was useful. And also perfectly on brand for the shit to just want to kill as many as he could. At least this time it was a good target.

You are Meer Campbell, filling in for Lacus Clyne after her death at the hands of the Council. Before her death, she had told you everything about what she had done during the Bloody Valentine War, giving you much needed context, and greatly improving your ability to be her.

Not for the first time, and certainly not the last, you weep for Lacus Clyne, Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, and so many others who have died fighting the Council.

*wince* Sad, but logical. If the Council had dealt with a SEED timeline before, they know how dangerous those 3 are, among others. Thing is they forgot about Meer, who has stepped in for Lacus in the way only she could. And damn if she's not doing a bang up job at making the Councils life miserable.

You glance at a framed photo of the Ayanas. Their mad project to send their unborn daughter to another dimension under the protection of the SAMSARA system seems to have worked, given that Council isn't lording their success in dealing with that over the media. You can only hope the Ayana's daughter is able to avenge her parents before Compass inevitably crumbles.

But until then?

In memory of the real Lacus Clyne, you will be her, and you will make the Council pay in blood for every inch of this dimension they defile with their presence.

Well, this explains a lot. It seems our 'home' dimension was able to gut the Council forces when they moved in. Sure they still got conquered, but the Councils hold is still very tenuous. Not to mention it seems they haven't made good on shipbuilding to replace the losses Djibrils final 'fuck you' dealt them. Let's see if we can't buy our origin enough time to finish Minerva, by being the biggest pain in the ass possible to the bastards.

Also, da vote.

Yeah, I'd imagine any timeline where the council is the major power to have most of the heroes long gone for more or less exactly that reason.

As for the vote, I don't think the princesses will be that bad. And Mira would pull off the black dress better. Oddly, I'm more worried that Schneizel isn't as defanged as we'd like him to be. I might have to reread the thread sometime to see how much I should be concerned.

Surprised no one's talking about the breadcrumbs littered throughout the sidestory regarding Mira's 'home' dimension.

I also sprinkled a lot of hints as to the fact that it was actually Meer Campbell and not Lacus Clyne as the viewpoint character. I specifically avoided any references to her Mr. Red Haro because that would have been a dead giveaway.

Anyway, voting likely to close tomorrow, followed by an update.

About Haro, does Meer's united front resistance think of creating dozens of Haros and Karels to have them as repair and maintenance units to help with the personnel handling the mobile suits and ships to be in top shape?

For Compass, every little bit helps.

Also want to point out that Compass isn't entirely united by the noble ideals of freedom and unity. Most of it is through sheer hatred of the Council for what they've done.

For Compass, every little bit helps.

Awesome! Plus adorable Haros are great emotional support of adorableness and cuddling! Quite a morale booster among Compass as well.

I see but at least they're not butting heads with each other (probably helped that extremist jerks such as Djibril are gone) and Fire Forged Friendship is a thing among unlikely allies after all.

Not only that, Meer is their compass, no pun intended, to not lead them astray.

You know, trying to pull together breadcrumbs.

I mean, yeah, Lacus Clyne has no need to remind herself that she is, in fact, actually Lacus Clyne. And general feeling of Compass being "We would happily genocide each others? But those guys? We will fuck those guys, together, first"
But yeah, if Zeon needs to resort to Zaku Is, things are fucked for Zeon. Anaheim Electronics is completely taken over, with some guys defecting to Compass.

I wonder what Eva was that. Some of later NERV (rebuild) models with S2 engine, or SEELE haven't thrown lot with invaders and it's spare MP one?
Now, if Godannar monsters/infection are returning, that would be fun. Dannar remains are most likely Space base or that guy with submersible Dannar who was antiheroing by himself with adopted Space Dannar girl.
I forgot, was Gunbuster event going together with GGG event in that dimension? So they saved everyone, but that mostly served Council.
Zanscare is still their cheerful self, and Council will eat them soon.

I wonder why Council is to fixated on Ayana's child to be popularly known and infamous? Because, frankly, it sounds like it was bigger thorn in their ass than Compass is.

Wouldn't surprise me if it eventually turns out there is some flaw in their tech that, because she was moved using it, she can somehow exploit to screw them over, or something. So they are desperately trying to kill her and destroy any of the reverse engineered tech before someone figures it out

It's mostly that the Council is unreasonably protective of their interdimensional travel technology and will go to basically any lengths to keep it secret. In their paranoia, they think Mira knows something about it.

July UE 0084
The Gobi Desert, Mongolia

Umi Ryuuzaki looks at the figures of Clef and Ascot in the distance.

She looks at the ground for a second before leaning back into Caldina's embrace.

"I...I guess I like Ascot." She murmers.

The three Chizetans make a noise of delight.

"I mean..." Umi pauses, thinking of how to phrase things. "Ascot's nice. And considerate...you think he grew up so quickly just cause he likes me?"

"Honey, there's no way he didn't." Caldina confirms.

Umi nods in understanding.

"I mean, Clef is also a good person, but..." She trails off, the most obvious thing not needing to be said.

After a few seconds, Umi's face morphs into an expression of terror.

"Oh god. I'm going to have to introduce him to my parents." She moans.

"That sounds like a problem for future you." Caldina says. "Didn't you say you were exhausted? You should probably get some rest."

Umi sighs as Tarta and Tatra giggle before giving her a quick embrace.

You are Alto Saotome, and you've been watching over Sheryl since you woke up at 5 am.

Although you desperately want to help Sheryl now, you have no idea what Sophia is offering. As such, you had Uruz squad force Sophia to write down everything about the proposed treatment before sending it to some trusted doctors for review. There's neither the time nor subject pool for actual trials, but they should be able to tell you if it will be able to help.

Sheryl's Condition-Roll 1d20, worsen her condition on an 8 or lower
Roll 19

Thankfully, Sheryl's condition seems to have stabilized for now, and she no longer has to be under 24/7 watch, not that that's stopped you from staying by her side.

For the first time since they had to use the defibrillator on her, she stirs.

"Sheryl!" You say urgently.

"Alto...?" Sheryl says weakly.

"Yes, it's me, Sheryl." You say gently, taking Sheryl's hand into your own.

"Alto...did you stay with me the entire time?" Sheryl asks.

"Yes." You say.

"Thank you..." Sheryl brings her other hand up.

You realize what she's trying to do, and put her other hand on your cheek. Sheryl gives a weak smile.

"There's something that may be able to help you, but the source is...suspect. We're having the doctors review it to see if it will work. Can you hold on until then?" You ask.

"Ha! I'm Sheryl Nome. Of course I can!" Sheryl says confidently.

You squeeze Sheryl's hand to reassure her, and she does the same.

Buckingham Palace, London

You check your face in the mirror one last time as the limousine Euphemia sent to pick up you, Diana, and the girls nears Buckingham Palace.

The girls are wearing their best dresses, Nina and Yukari wearing what they got in Talbadiya, while Lucia is wearing what Yukari got for her shortly after. Diana is wearing a white low-cut dress that she got from a friend, along with complimentary jewelry and matching white sandals.

You, meanwhile, are wearing the dress that Euphemia gifted you.

It's a black dress, translucent in areas, that goes down to your shins. A ribbon of the same color is tied around your waist, and transparent black silk armbands are wrapped around your upper arms. Matching jewelry meant to compliment the dress takes the form of a single silver necklace, and your feet are clad in black heels. The entire ensemble is completed by a single short black glove on your right hand.

You had asked those who had brought the dress over where the other glove was, only to be told there was only the one.

You close the mirror and look around the limo. All of you had your makeup and hair done by the best beauticians Euphemia could provide for the occasion, and as such, everyone looks stunning. They'd even managed to make Lucia's cybernetic eyes appear more natural without using contact lenses.

"I still can't quite believe that you have connections with Britannian Royalty, Honey." Diana says quietly.

"I'm surprised she invited us in the first place." You say. "I didn't participate in the final assault on Britannia."

"You think it'd be rude to ask why she put this together in the first place?" Nina wonders.

"I'm sure there will be an opportunity to ask." Yukari says.

"Looks like we're here." Lucia says.

The limousine stops, and a pair of soldiers in honor guard uniforms walk up and open the door.

You get out first, followed by Diana and the girls. As promised, there are no cameras or media presence-this is a private affair.

As the five of you are escorted toward the palace, you see Nina Einstein at the base of the steps, accompanied by someone else.

Who is it?

Normally I would jump on the opportunity to get Cornelia more screen time, but Nunnally and Alice are very cute.
