Oh...

I could have sworn that I put a plan together, but ThatGuyWithIdeas made a plan that does everything that I was thinking of. So I am going to go with that one.

July UE 0084
The Gobi Desert, Mongolia

You are Hikaru Shidou, and facing Nova again after what she did to you in Cephiro is...unsettling. However, you're not alone, and those with you are far from incompetent.

You let out a soft sigh as Dancouga deflects a blow from the Regalia's magic sword with its Dan-Ku-Ken.

"Flame Arrow!" You yell, hurling a bolt of fire at the Regalia to get Nova's attention. "Why so distracted? Don't you want me?"

"Oh yes, yes I do!" Nova says in delight before charging at Rayearth. "I just wish you'd stop playing hard to get!"

"Sorry, but the only way I'm going with you is in a full body cast!" You retort, holding Rayearth's sword up in a defensive posture.

"That can be arranged!" Nova giggles. "I can easily heal you once we're alone..."

You glance to the side, confirming that Umi, Fuu, and Shin Great Mazinger are moving to position themselves behind Nova, Dancouga taking advantage of Nova's temporary lapse in attention to shield that angle from view.

You can only hope that they'll be able to pull it off as Nova is upon you.

Nova vs Hikaru
Nova attacks with Regalia's Sword
vs
Armor DC 15 = 7 Ability + 7 Armor + 1 (Will 6)
Roll 1d10 + 12 Ability
Roll 3
3 + 12 = 15
Hikaru attacks with Rayearth's Sword
vs
Mobility DC 17 = 12 Ability + 5 Mobility
Roll 1d10 + 7 Ability + 2 (Will 7) + 1 (Magic Knight)
Roll 1
1 + 7 + 2 + 1 = 11

Result: Rayearth takes 1000 damage (6000/7000 HP), but Nova is so delighted that she forgets to pay attention to her surroundings, allowing everyone else to blindside her

Ambush-Selece, Windam, Shin Great Mazinger, and Dancouga attack
Umi attacks with Selece's Sword
vs
Mobility DC 15 = 12 Ability + 5 Mobility - 2 (Evasion Decay)
Roll 1d10 + 7 Ability + 2 (Will 7) + 1 (Magic Knight)
Roll 8
8 + 7 + 2 + 1 = 18
Fuu attacks with Windam's Sword
vs
Mobility DC 17 = 12 Ability + 5 Mobility
Roll 1d10 + 7 Ability + 2 (Will 7) + 1 (Magic Knight)
Roll 1
1 + 7 + 2 + 1 = 11
Shin Great Mazinger attacks with Screw Pressure Punch
vs
Mobility DC 15 = 12 Ability + 5 Mobility - 2 (Evasion Decay)
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 2 (Will 7)
Roll 9
9 + 8 + 2 = 19
Dancouga attacks with Cyber Beast Force Attack
Ryo casts FOCUS
vs
Mobility DC 17 = 12 Ability + 5 Mobility
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 2 (Will 7) + 2 (FOCUS)
Roll 8
8 + 8 + 2 + 2 = 20

Result: Nova takes a massive amount of damage

You bring up Rayearth's shield in an attempt to guard, only for Nova to bash it aside and stab your Rune God in the abdomen. You wince in pain before swinging your sword up in an attempt to catch her off guard, only for Regalia to move to the side and dodge your attack almost effortlessly.

"Oh Hikaru..." Nova croons as the Regalia makes to cup Rayearth's face in its hand. "I knew you'd come around eventually. Now, why don't we-"

She's interrupted by Selece charging in and skewering the Regalia with a rapid-fire series of stabs.

"How dare you hurt Hikaru like that!" Umi yells.

"I should have known! Pests! Hangars-on!" Nova screeches in rage and pain as she forces Umi back with a burst of flame from the Regalia's hand.

"HAAA!" Fuu bellows as she charges at the Regalia with Windam's sword, only for Nova to sidestep the badly telegraphed attack.

Nova's moment of triumph is short lived as Shin Great Mazinger's fists suddenly slam into the Regalia's abdomen. Nova makes a retching noise as the Regalia doubles over, leaving her completely open to what Dancouga does next.

"Yatte Yaruze! Cyber Beast Attack!" Shinobu yells.

Dancouga splits into its component machines, a pair of robotic felines, an elephant, and an eagle charging at the Regalia.

The felines tackle the Regalia from opposite sides and claw at the enemy Rune God a bit before leaping off, the elephant charging in and slamming it into the air with its trunk. The eagle swoops in, ramming the Regalia further upwards.

"Beat her to a pulp, Ryo!" Shinobu yells as Dancouga recombines.

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Ryo says.

Dancouga proceeds to uppercut the Regalia, hard, causing it to go flying before it slams back onto the ground, kicking up an enormous plume of sand.

When the cloud of sand clears, the Regalia is badly damaged, although some of the worst cracks seem to be mending themselves, no doubt courtesy of Nova's magic.

"I...I'VE HAD IT WITH PEOPLE INTERFERING!" Nova screeches. "Stay still, Hikaru, while I kill everyone else so they won't get in the way!"

The Regalia manifests an enormous javelin of light in its hand and makes to throw it at you when a rain of light bombards it.

You all glance up to see a familiar-looking Rune God.

"The Chronos?" C.C. says in confusion. "I thought you three destroyed it!"

"Hikaru. You're hurt." Your heart skips a beat when you recognize that voice as Lantis'.

"Lantis? What are you doing here? And where did you get that Rune God?" You ask after finding your voice.

"It would take too long to explain under the current circumstances. For now, let us focus on Nova." Lantis says, his Rune God drawing a sword.

You're grateful that no one else can see your face as you blush heavily before turning to face Nova.

"Concentrate fire!" A Jegan pilot yells as he and his squad assume a crude infantry square formation against a trio of charging shadow beasts.

Shadow beasts, golems, and Shadow avians crash against the forces of the Federation and Solar Vanguard.

A Shadow beast crushes a Chinese Federation Tank underfoot as it charges forward, only for its head to be blown off by another tank firing all of its missiles at it.

A desert-configured Leo fires a pair of shoulder-mounted beam cannons at a golem, atomizing its waist and causing it fall to the desert sands in pieces.

An Enact deflects feather projectiles from a Shadow avian with its defense rod before blowing off its wing with a single shot from its railgun. Unable to stay airborne, the Shadow avian slams into the ground.

A group of Gun-Rus and Panzer Hummels scatter as a pair of Shadow Beasts run at them, smashing several apart. Missiles, cannon rounds, and slash harkens take down one, a salvo of bullets from a squad of Akatsukis killing the other. The group scatters again to avoid a storm of feathers from a trio of Shadow avians. One of the Akatsukis manages to nail a Shadow avian with a Radiant Wave missile, the unnatural creature's flesh bubbling before it explodes.

Lelouch looks toward the Monument in concern as it pulses with malevolent energy.

"Ikaruga, contact the Chizetans and tell them to try and suppress the Monument!" Lelouch orders.

"Roger that!" The Ikaruga's communications officer confirms.

Lelouch's order seems to come not a moment too soon, as enemy reinforcements start to emerge from the Monument en masse. A few seconds later, an enormous magical projection of the princesses of Chizeta appears over the battlefield, the two of them performing a magical dance. The Monument seems to lose some of its luster, the rate of enemy reinforcements slowing to a trickle.

"Keep fighting! We have to buy the other team more time!" Lelouch says, firing the Shinkiro's Hadron blasters at a Shadow avian while sparing a glance to the battle with Nova. He looks back to the wider battle and winces as a golem smashes apart a Chinese Federation tank and a pair of Gun-Rus.

Mazinkaiser touches down between a pair of dunes with a massive thud, a plume of sand being thrown up into the air.

It doesn't take long for the Shadow worms to pounce, both of them kicking up large plumes of sand as they approach Mazinkaiser.

"Photon Beam!" Kouji yells, firing twin beams of Photon Power at the closest plume.

The Shadow worms emerge, jaws open and ready to try and tear Mazinkaiser apart.

"Rust Tornado!" Kouji yells, Mazinkaiser expelling a torrent of corrosive particles at the closest Shadow worm.

At the same time, everyone else still in the air fires, railgun slugs, missiles, and Radiant Wave beams impacting both Shadow worms.

The magical barriers of both Shadow worms flare to life, the horrific creatures mostly undeterred as they slam into Mazinkaiser.

"Come on!" Kallen yells as she and Suzaku charge at the Shadow worm which Kouji fired Rust Tornado at.

The Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. slams its Radiant Wave Surger into the Shadow worm while the Lancelot Albion rakes its swords across it, overwhelming its magical barrier. Sensing its own weakness, the worm immediately moves to burrow back underground.

"Now's our chance!" Hayato yells, Shin Getter 2 burrowing under the sand after it.

A few seconds pass by as the other Shadow worm also goes back underground.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M23NRARoRkQ

A rumbling heralds a Shadow worm reemerging.

Everyone tenses, only for them to notice the Shadow worm undulating as if in discomfort. A few seconds later, Shin Getter 2 drills its way out of its mouth, spraying ichor everywhere. The Shadow worm collapses onto the desert sands, dead, before its body starts dissolving into wisps of shadow.

The other Shadow worm kicks up plumes of sand as it tries to find a better position.

>Mazinkaiser has taken 3000 damage (7000/10000 HP)

What is the plan to deal with Nova?

[ ] NTR Rage Bait
-Have Lantis goad Nova into attacking him, then blindside her while she's in the throes of her own rage

[ ] All out assault
-Rush Nova with everyone present

[ ] Write-in

How do you deal with the remaining Shadow worm and the monument? Current distance of anti-monument team is still HALFWAY there.

[ ] Divide and Conquer
-Send all generic forces on the team to attack the monument while everyone else deals with the remaining Shadow worm

[ ] Rush Job
-Send everyone to attack the monument while trying to avoid the Shadow worm

[ ] Exterminator
-Focus on killing the remaining Shadow worm before attacking the monument

[ ] Write-in

A/N: Not much to say this time. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

...I am really tempted to go with NTR bait...

But despite the fact that teasing Nova is something I deeply approve of, I also think that she is smart enough not to fall for the same trick... This would be the third time. I'm pretty sure.

Buuuuut...

[x] Plan You can't touch this
- [x] Writein: You can't touch this
-- Have Hikaru and Lantis start trying to disengage, pulling back and covering for each other, while the others try to attack whenever there is an opening. Less an all out assault, and more a death by a thousand paperclips. the more that Nova has to move around, and the more that she has to chase, the less she is going to be firing off major attacks.

Can't say anything about the write-in until QM confirms if it is workable or not, but I'm not sure if we have the luxury to kill the Worm first before going for the Monument. It is possible we may have to consider splitting our forces here a bit (though I'm uncertain as to how much they should be split...)

Started to work on a plan. Opinions are welcome. No voting until QM confirms it is valid and the plan has been discussed.
EDIT: Dropped the bombardment attemp since QM confirmed it was not workable.

as noted earlier Rage Bait may fail at this stage because she's fallen for it so many times already. Surely she has to learn at some point, right? Like… she isn't actually stupid. Just magically obsessed.

I'm going to need to see what other people think about how to approach Nova before I decide how to handle her. That said, Rage Bait could still work since the guy doing the baiting is one of the potential romantic interests of Nova's object of obsession and him making that fact clear could rile her up severly.

The artillery unit can't bombard the monument because of two reasons:

a) it's not close enough to do so

b) the chaos of the battle has caused it to lose enough coherency that they won't be able to coordinate barrages

Also, keep in mind that the monument is...big. Like, skyscraper big. And it's technically not finished.

Since no one else said anything about my plan...

Don't see any problems with this, without counting that yeah Nova murderbone is pretty easy to rile up.

Gobi Desert, Mongolia

You are Hikaru Shidou, and you suppress the urge to blush as Lantis in a Rune God that looks almost exactly like Zagato's Chronos takes up position beside Rayearth.

"Oh, it's HIM." Nova drawls with distaste. "Finally got sick of watching from the sidelines whenever we broke out the Rune Gods?"

"Not quite." Lantis says evenly. "I only recently found this Rune God which my brother left for me, and decided to make use of it."

Nova scoffs before pointing the Regalia's sword at Rayearth.

"Stay still, will you, Hikaru?" Nova says in a dissonantly sweet tone.

No sooner does she finish saying those words does she hurl some kind of net of light at Rayearth. Lantis immediately summons a barrage of magical beams to destroy it before it can get close.

"I see you're starting to have original thoughts, Nova." Lantis deadpans.

"What the hell do you mean by that? ALL of my thoughts are original!" Nova sneers.

Lantis scoffs.

"If you are what I think you are, then surely you can tell that Hikaru feels differently about me than her dear friends?" He says. Although you can't see his face, you're sure Lantis is smirking.

The Regalia seems to stare at Lantis' Rune God for a few seconds before you see its demeanor shift.

"You...how dare you imply that Hikaru sees you in that way! ONLY I CAN FEEL THAT WAY ABOUT HIKARU, AND SHE CAN ONLY FEEL THAT WAY TOWARD ME!" Nova shrieks before blasting flame at Lantis' Rune God.

The Regalia rushes forward as Lantis dodges, and the two Rune Gods engage in a furious swordfight.

"Now! Attack while she's focused on me!" Lantis urges the rest of you.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cBdIXiRu9Q

"Okay, let's do this!" Shinbou says as Dancouga draws its sword and holds it up. "Give us the power of love and the ability to purge evil!"

Something fires a purple beam of energy at Dancouga from over the horizon, the energy itself going into Dancouga's sword.

"DANCOUKAGOKEN!" The Dancouga team shouts in unison as Dancouga brings its sword down, an enormous beam of energy emitting from it.

Nova, so focused on attempting to kill Lantis, is unable to dodge in time, and is engulfed by the beam before an enormous explosion ensues. When the smoke clears, the Regalia is once again smoking, with enormous cracks running all over it, the rate at which they're mending substantially slower than before.

"Press the advantage!" Tetsuya yells before Shin Great Mazinger holds up its finger. "Thunder Break!"

Shin Great Mazinger fires a Thunder Break at the Regalia while the Lancelot Frontier peppers it with shots from its VARIS. Nova tries to manifest a magical barrier, only for it to fizzle out on impact. Selece and Windam take up positions beside you.

"Ready to teach her another lesson?" Umi asks.

"Yeah, let's do it." You say.

You, Umi, and Fuu begin casting your most powerful magic.

"Sapphire Whirlwind!" Umi yells.

"Emerald Typhoon!" Fuu yells.

"Crimson Lightning!" You yell.

The Regalia is engulfed in a torrent of water which turns into a waterspout, the enemy Rune God at the mercy of its currents. No sooner does it manage to escape the water does Fuu's Emerald Typhoon hit, slamming the Regalia with gale force winds and throwing it back. Your Crimson Lightning is last to hit the Regalia, an explosion engulfing it.

The smoke clears, and the Regalia is clearly on its last legs, with numerous cracks running along its body while it leaks some kind of magical substance from its joints.

"You..." Nova coughs, "You think that's all I've got? I won't stop until Hikaru is mine!"

"Take a hint, woman!" Masato of the Dancouga team quips as Dancouga itself readies an enormous gun and points it at the Regalia.

You are Kallen Kozuki, and you have faith that the others can kill the remaining Shadow worm as you lead the Flags, Enacts, and Dragoons toward the monument.

The twin princesses of Chizeta are still suppressing it with their own magic, but it's still exuding quite a bit of malevolent energy as you get close. You squint in confusion as sparks fly from the monument before a bolt of lightning emanates from it toward the Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. and is deflected by your Knightmare's Radiant Wave Shield.

Everyone pauses for a second to process what just happened before turning and firing on the monument, yourself included.

The monument continues to lash out with magical lightning even as craters form in its surface, blowing limbs off of allied mobile suits and occasionally causing a rifle's ammo to cook off.

"Eat this!" Kouji yells as he shoves Mazinkaiser's hands into the maw of the remaining Shadow worm.

The Shadow worm attempts to disengage, only to find that Mazinkaiser's grip is not easily discouraged by its shaking.

"You've had your fun! Photon Beam!" Kouji yells.

Mazinkaiser fires Photon Beams from its eyes, the Shadow worm's magical barrier fizzling out and dying.

"Change Shin Getter 3!" Benkei yells. "Missile Storm!"

Shin Getter 3 unleashes a torrent of missiles from the pods on its back as Suzaku fires the Lancelot Albion's VARIS.

"Let's go! Daisetsuzan Oroshi!" Benkei yells.

Shin Getter 3 grabs the wounded Shadow worm with its extendable arms before lifting it up and flinging it into the air, twisting its arms the entire time to put force on the worm in different directions. The Shadow worm tears itself apart as it flies through the air, landing on the ground in pieces.

"Fire Blaster!" Kouji yells, finishing off the segment of the worm with its mouth.

The group turns toward the monument and flies over to it, Shin Getter Robo changing back to Shin Getter 1.

"We need to destroy this thing, now!" Suzaku says as the Lancelot Albion fires a barrage from its energy wings.

"Rust Tornado!" Kouji yells.

"Getter Beam!" Ryoma yells.

The monument, already damaged by the Guren S.E.I.T.E.N., Flags, Enacts, and Dragoons, quickly crumbles under the renewed assault.

You are Hikaru Shidou, and you hear Nova flinch at the sound of the monument crumbling in the distance.

"No...my monument to mother..." Nova sniffles.

~I thought this might happen.~ Lady Debonair's voice booms.

"Damn you, Lady Debonair! Show yourself so we can kill you!" Tetsuya yells.

~Ha! You are welcome to try when I deign to grace you with my presence. Come, Nova, return to me. Your failure this time is of no consequence, it was only an experiment, after all.~ Debonair croons in a disgustingly sweet tone.

"Yes, mother..." Nova says vacantly as the badly damaged Regalia floats up into a portal of darkness that manifests above it.

Nova disappears before you can say anything to her. With her retreat and the destruction of the monument, the remaining Shadow creatures disappear, and the golems crumble.

Looks like the battle's over.
