The prototype chonk deflector was used in our last ship and gave it reliable sprint 9, the experimental deflector could feasibly amp a capital ship into pointless flexing levels of speed, even with the sacrifice we made with the chonk primary hull, though I expect it will cause us some finicky issues.
The engineers will love and hate it. They can do so much with the new deflector but they have to dress up and do a Rain Dance ceremony every morning before they do daily repairs.

I feel like that's what most Starfleet officers are trained for already, given how often the chief engineers are asked to be miracle workers.

The chief engineer would pull out The Headress made of the ship's orgional wiring for the ceremony.

Edit: every ship in starfleet has one by the end of its shake down cruise and the ship is not truely decommissioned until Starfleet Corp of engineers ritualy takes the headdress off the ship for the frist and last time. For a non-eneingeer to see the headdress let alone to wear it means the ship must truely be facing a grave threat.

Yeah, it seems like the experimental recessed deflector is a good idea given this is an explorer, and given it will help make up for not having gone for the fastest possible saucer.

The big flat shape of the prototype deflector also apparently has the potential to cause maximum speed issues - two options in a row which either don't increase or possibly decrease our warp factor don't sound good on an explorer.

No, that was us going for the long nacelles instead of short ones. We went for a standard, non-prototype non-experimental recessed deflector.

Wait what if we comboed the Starfleet and Vulcan styles? Two nacelles with a vuclan style warp ring linking them

Edit: and we can put phaser strips on the ring for extra tatical rating.
