Can we get details on why this loses the torpedo launcher?

The secondary hull would link in pretty close to the bottom of the saucer which wouldn't leave space for it. At least that's my gut feeling.

I assume people are talking about the continuous phaser strip that circles two thirds of the the saucer section in the Ushaan design, rather than the Endeavour which had a split in them due to the sensor palette.

It would be nice to know which (if either) of these designs has that feature.

No, no split phaser strips.

I think two impulse engines are a good idea for redundancy. This ship is supposed to take hits and keep trucking. The Endeavor seems like it will only have a centerline engine.

And a bigger phaser strip isn't everything. I think this next ship is definitely going to take the Mk XII phasers.

More mass more betterer, particularly in the face of more challenging design stipulations

The Endeavor saucer wouldn't have any torpedoes if I'm reading this right? So we'd only have torpedo launchers from the engineering hull?

My heart cries out for mega phaser strip dakka, but my soul cries out for torpedoes.
However, I'm pretty sure you can put a torp on the secondary hull. Also, I loathed the nacelle placement on the Ushaan. I'm sorry, it's true.

The Endeavour-class has an aft launcher on the saucer section, which has only nominal tactical value most of the time, but the fore launcher is in the engineering section, and this vote is just for the saucer right now.
