[X] Just take it as it is and make improvements ...
-[X] Add +1 Weapons for 1 Advantage

It's still cheaper, and I'll take that as a point in its favor.

Well this basically guarantees the company's solvency I think. Everyone is going to want a corvette class built off this thing.

We should just pass on designing our own weapons and shields this turn due to the time crunch also what's the stats for the new component?

Edit: But on the whole we managed to luck out with those high rolls.

If I understand this right, our stats are going to turn out looking something like this:

Mk. 2 Vulkan Corvette Bridge
Size: Large (-1 Compartment, +1 Weapon)
Maneuverability: Starting at 1
Weapons: Starting at 2
Advantage: 5
Flaw: 0
Cost: Starting at 4

Who do we buy weapons from?
any of the major corporations who sell to the mid rim. Taim and Bak are a corporation with a solid repuation.

edit: their h9 model is what the C90 uses we can easily use them for the two twin barrel turrets then use quad lasers for the basic anti-fighter role.

though i am kinda wondering if we should have a pair of 40mm rotory mass drivers. video 1 and video 2

And maybe some smaller and less reputable companies. Zyrinox do awesome work, and their Quad-Death turret might look just great on our corvette.

Fairly sure that Star Wars doesn't have anything nearly so effective. The weapon in-universe with the fastest rate of fire would probably be the E-Web, and even with that you can still hear the individual shots. If we want something that could actually BRRRRRT at targets, we'd have to invent it ourselves.

I guess the question is how effective is our armour? For example, I'd argue it's probably worth armouring our design enough so that we can bounce fighter grade weapons and resist light laser cannons.

Hapan rotary blaster things work. Good luck hooking up with Hapes though.

Far as a speed shooter? The Ground Buzzer is pretty nice. Anti-personnel instead of anything bigger, but 12 shots per second with the ability to fire autonomously is pretty solid.

there are reasons I'm suggesting a rapid fire mass driver weapon. first is to force pirates to turtle under particle shields as mass drivers bypass ray shields. this will keep them from being able to shoot back since particle shields interfere with the user's own weapons

second is that i want these ships to be able to fly into atmosphere and provide supporting fire to allied forces and a rapid fire weapon will be better at suppression work.

The 4 quad lasers mentioned in the specs are plenty of rapid-fire in my mind.

Unfortunately the specs also specifically mention using laser cannons. If we were to add a mass driver, I'd only really be comfortable with it being an additional 7th cannon.

i meant it as a supplemental weapon to the requested loadout. but we'll have to see what kinda of cost we're running when we hit that point.

Keep in mind we need to comply with the following:
Must be armed with at least 4 light laser cannons and 2 heavy laser cannons
[*]Double barrels are preferred; quads for the light once
[*]Needs strong Shields (Normal or Large)
[*]Cost shouldn't be over 25 but must stay below 30

As it is weapon and special is all that is left in the design process. I actually hope we can do both steps at once to see what the shields cost as we did not have options for adding or improving shields on the freighter. Weapons we got an idea of pricing.

I'm inclined to think that mass drivers are not seen on ships of this period for some very compelling reason, and would see us going against the consensus here either a bad idea if they show up to be ineffevtive, or suspension of disbelief breaking if they end up effective.

weren't the flak guns on the Venerators mass drivers?
