Well, we gotta eat cost here. No way around it.

Corvettes allow for non-elite involvement in protecting your planet. Fighters are expensive and need elite pilots to be worthwhile. One corvette can provide a lot of defense at low cost.

Have to eat the roll here, at least this eliminates the flaws but ugh this ship design has just not been good for us, probably because our skills are so bad in addition to bad rolls?

Huh. So, does adding to our dice pool actually help with anything? It seems like dice add to flaws and advantages with the same probability.

[X] Just hope the marketing can come up with an excuse.

This is purely mechanical, but it was stated that flaws and advantages cancel out at the end, and so net -2 flaws is bad but not too bad and raising the cost by 3 is not something we can deal with.

[X] Accept Shen's proposal and rework the layout somehow. (-2 Advantages, -2 Flaws +2 Cost)

That is what the rebuild is for. Instead of just slapping new weapons on it the whole thing would be broken down and redone from the ground up. Allowing for a full update that makes the Hammerhead a powerful frigate on par or better than anything currently in existence and as strong as a Nebulon-B just without the comms or the sensor that make the Neb-B a very good command ship.
I kind of want to suggest a refit of the old Hammerheads, just to get a foot into the door.
Maybe package it with our police corvette design.

Yes, it does. Instead of rolling one dice for results, we got two roll and everything is done by those dice rolls for the final results.
We rolled 2 2s. Each 2 rolled adds 2 flaws and 1 advantage, for a total of 2A/4F, which is what we see. Net 2 flaws. If we had only done 1 die, we'd have 1A/2F, net 1 flaw. Which is a better result.

Mechanically, adding to our dice pool adds to A and F equally, thus in that regard there's no point in adding to the dice pool.

Also, 2 2s isn't that bad. 16.667% chance of rolling that bad or worse (in terms of sum).

Suddenly, a fleet of light ships fell out of hyperspace, close to the droid control ship, and attacked it where its mighty quad-lasers couldn't defend it. The fleet was under the command of the pirate and full-time mercenary Captain Nym, who had a letter of marque from the Queen.
Looks like in this timeline, she met and built a rapport with a pirate and brought him on board to deal with the trade federation capital ships? Wonder how this will change things.
