Space Ninja Summer Camp ( Warframe/Worm )

Which kind of makes that they thought 'no visible gear, Armsy turns up nothing. Despite one of his sensors being ineffective against her I guess this means she`s COMPLETELY HELPLESS !' even funnier.

3 of his sensors. He's got one for lie detection built in to the camera, but he thinks the suit itself is messing with his heartbeat and respiration sensors.

Of course, Taylor's body is just a projection, so there's no vial signs to find.

While that explains it, it doesn`t make the assumptions on the PRTs part any less dumb.

Shit, it might make them MORE dumb. Surely the PRT has experience with projections.

True but they would have no reasoning to expect a Tinker to have a Projection power too. That and they have no idea what the Tenno are actually capable of. Poor PRT. Poor, poor PRT they have no idea of the type of ire they have earned.

As a counter point, I present to you both Genesis and the Siberian, whom the PRT thinks are a changer and a brute respectively. From what little the canon work goes over, it seems like long range projections capable of complex behaviors are something of the exception rather than the rule. Crusader, for example, requires LoS to manage his creations, while we never really get a solid fix on just how far Manton and Genesis can get from their creations.

Both Manton and Genesis are Cauldron capes, which may help explain why their projections seemingly break the mold so harshly.

To be fair in the case of the Siberian, it's probably highly unlikely anyone has ever had the chance to properly approach 'her' in order to do any sort of decent scanning. Or, if they have, the results never made it back to the office for, oh, some reason.

And in Genesis' case, she has to dream up her forms and her power sort of grows/makes them only based on what she's thinking. As far as I know, we don't know whether the projections she makes breathe or not, because they do have some internal bits for generating effects.

It's a complicated situation that's entirely dependant on the power, so there's unlikely to be any one thing that lets people know something is a projection.

Tinker 8 though. With no idea of what her specialization might be and the failure of Armsmasters sensors it`s not much of a leap to 'this might not actually be a person', especially with what happened with the arrows. It would explain a lot of the seeming naivete.

Regardless of of whether she is a projection: Assuming that a tinker with visible obvious tinkertech on their person (suit, glowing cybernetics, whatever blocks the scans) whom you cannot scan is helpless is insane.

I really don't understand where this persistent fiction that she is not carrying tinkertech comes from. She is literally glowing with tinkertech, and wears a high-tech looking suit.

But not her armour, her weapons, and they detected no devices. Agent fuckup specifically notes multiple times how glad he is that Taylor came in sans all that stuff. The suit just LOOKS cool, and the glow is from glowsticks and contact lenses or something. Wishful thinking may have played a part.

It`s absurd, of course, but the preconception is 'No tinkertech on a Tinker = Currently just baseline human capability.' Tinkers with other, non-tech based, powers just don`t exist in Worm. Tinker powers might get you other ratings, like Blasto, but it`s all 'tech lets them do X'.

they detected no devices
What does "no devices" even mean? Are the apparent implants not a "device"? Does the suit not count as a "device"? And even before that "they detected no" is very much different from "their scans were blocked and they could not tell either way", which is what happened from their perspective, given that the obvious glowing implants did not trigger their scanner.

I also do not understand why the discussion is about having "other ratings". Nothing Taylor has done means she has ratings beyond being a tinker. Her suit would be the obvious anchor for the invisibility. Either it or the unknown amount of implants she has can explain the superspeed and the forcefield.

The most they can conclude is that she either warrants an even higher tinker rating due to her variety of tech (who even does implants!?), or she has been armed by other tinkers. They already know she bought her dog. Combined with the tinkertech, this strongly implies an allied bio-tinker. Come to think of it, a friend triggering as a bio-tinker would also explain why she has stayed under the radar for so long. Bio-tinkers are extremely feared, so her group would only reveal itself once they are firmly established and have created contingencies for all likely plans. For example someone forcibly trying to recruit them…

That still doesn`t make her suit in any way comparable to her armour and weapons, and the blocked scans were heartrate and respiration, not 'devices', though as I said they more or less seem to have taken 'no armour, no weapons, no powers' as granted when she didn`t show up with weapons or armour. And if you`ll read the chapter carefully you`ll note that the first reaction to the Void Cloak is 'Tenno had snuck in a tinkertech invisibility or teleportation device', so they seem to have been pretty confident that her having tinkertech on her wasn`t the case prior, glowy bits or no. There`s multiple lines about it in the chapter.

How much of it is wishful thinking by Agent Fuckup is up to your own interpretation, but I would like to remind you that, at no point, did Armsmaster make any notes about 'she may have hidden Tinkertech devices my scanners could not detect'. Might be his own arrogance, might be because the possibility never entered anyones mind.

The ratings thing is to illustrate that, as far as the PRT knows, Tinkers without access to their tech or means to create that tech are HARMLESS. Tinkers can have lots of ratings, but they`re all tech derived, so without tech the ratings don`t apply. In regards to Taylor not having non-Tinker ratings, if you read the 'Behind the Curtain' Interlude it`s obvious that the PRT HAS given her other ratings. Brute 3, Mover 3, Striker 4, Thinker 2, Blaster 4 in fact. Which is reasonable considering they`re threat ratings, not power descriptors.

Though, Piggot did warn them not to take any action that will provoke or threaten Tenno because she might have a Special Forces background.

I have a feeling that this attempt to get at Tayno, while built on the bare bones of a plan, went off without the okay or supervision of Piggot. Which means someone not only dropped the ball big-time, but fucked the bunk so hard that they didn't even bring their commander in on it. Piggot may be a hardass, but she's a professional. She's going to be pissed.

Tautology?

She's going to be pissed.
Pissed off Piggot is (or can be, at least) one of my favourite things in Worm fics. Sure she's generally a somewhat hard to like character, but she has a lot of legitimate reasons to get well and truly frustrated at practically everyone and everything around her, and it's a fuse that's been burning for a long time.

When done right (like in Outcry) it's a wonderful sight to behold. Unfortunately it's also something that's easy to screw up when you've got no idea what you're doing or how people/laws work, so here's hoping for the best regardless of how she takes this little mess they've created.

Fine, you fuckers. I downloaded Warframe from Steam. I've read lots of Warframe stuff during my free time out of mere interest in the lore, and so I'd have some base of familiarity given how often it shows up in crossover fiction. I'll state now that I generally find the aesthetics of the game grating*, but maybe it'll grow on me.

*I play the hell out of Fallout 4 and Destiny 2. Lo and behold, I favor earth tones, camo patterns, and guns that actually look like guns.

Right, you'd want the Tenno style guns then. Try to join a Clan and get a bp there or buy 'em with cash.

As a rule, weapons aesthetics are separated into 4 groups. Grineer who has Orky looking appearance with rounded edges and bulges, Corpus with boxy body and energy focus, Infested which are bioweapons and Tenno who takes "old school" appearance. There's also Prime weapons but its pretty much the normal version in appearance but with EXTRA BLING.

Skins are also available for some weapons and some of those have earth tones and camo pattern (and both!) but they're cash items.

I actually kind of hope that when Taylor's clan gatecrash Sol, the Tenno's dad figure comes with.

No, not Umbra, though I can easily see him showing up. I mean Teshin. After getting a Tayno infodump, he'd probably respect Piggot. She obviously hates herself and whats happened, and detests her job and all it entails. Despite that, she shuts up, does her Duty to the best of her ability, and chokes down the indignation over what her life has become.

Though, if Taylor was the one that save Umbra, I don't think it's much of a stretch that he'd be the first one through the solar rail on a rescue mission. Entering Earth's atmosphere with nothing but a shield of pure wrath protecting him, cratering the parking lot to the dock leading to the PRT rig, and demanding to know where his Taylor is.

UMBRA: "You're he father."
DANNY: *terrified* "Y-yes."
UMBRA: *Puts a massive, talond hand on Danny's shoulder* "Be proud."
DANNY: "I am."

And then someone take a potshot at Taylor.

Pretty sure Taylor left before the whole Umbra thing.

Sorry it took so long for me to get around to reading this chapter, but better late than never. Here's some corrections I saw.
Hell, the man probably had a robot built into his toilet seat to wipe his butt because it was more efficient. Instead of saying what he really thought, he nodded curtly with agreement,

At his reaction, Tenno giggled, turned to the mirror and merrily waved before turning back to him.

Completely unfazed by his change in body language and his accusation, Tenno glanced over to her right and seemingly through the sound proofed, one-way glass mirror on the wall behind him.

Tenno still appeared to be utterly relaxed and unfazed. It wouldn't matter in the end though.

With his back to the wall opposite the interrogation room, Tony grinned with a mix of pain and satisfaction as the girl got schooled by the more experienced Tinker.

"Well, can't say it's been fun, but it has been informative. Let Director, um, Piggot?" Tenno hesitantly and correctly pronounced her name with the 't' silent, "know I won't hold it against her, this time. If she wants to politely discuss things, she can send me a message through Dragon."

You know, going back and reading the failed attempt at an interrogation, I won't be surprised if Piggot takes personal control of the Tenno investigation. If she does, she'll figure out she's Taylor pretty quick, what with all the circumstantial evidence pointing that way.

She may just get in her car and drive to the Herbet residence to meet Taylor face to face. Piggot is certainly hard nosed, and hard charging enough to do it. And she wouldn't make a fight of it, either.

Tayno: "The Syndicates make house calls now? SWEET! Rules of Hospitality state you have to bring a gift~!"
I'm actually contemplating having popcorn on hand for the next few chapters. I'm giving it a chapter for reactions to sink in with the next being where someone grabs the Idiot Ball for Bond Villains. Odds of Coil or Kaiser trying to add civilian life pressure and getting either A: Beat down by Emma/Danny for maximum embarassment or B: Stomped by Valkyr as a... visceral example of why cat themed anything (Siberian, Kavats, etc) is not to be taken lightly? ~Place—Your bets—Which way the heads will Roll~
(Voltaire, Headless Waltz Opening)

Wait...wouldn't that make Taylor the Syndicate? So can she now drop eximus squads on the PRT until Piggot comes back with a gift? I can just see her rummaging through her lander for stuff to 'sell' to capes for 'reputation'.

Goddamnit, you just had to say it. Now I`ll be up all night conceiving of a Taylor Syndicate, possibly with attached omake.

Curse you sincerely.

Nah, Piggot visiting would be more like one of the Arbiters dropping in for a chat. Visiting someone doesn't mark that someone as an authority, just someone you want to talk to. The gift is for politeness and courtesy carried out even in ancient cultures. (Not sure where I read it but the unofficial rules of hospitality are pretty consistently a big thing across the globe) Besides, if she were setting up a Syndicate you think she'd waste a perfectly good Eximus squad on the defiant few? Nah. The Tenno Sniper rifle comes to mind...Velka was it? Venka was the claws if I remember right. Still it's a hilarious image of Piggot ringing the doorbell nervously with a vase of flowers in one hand.
