The distances are mostly the same. Maybe 10 days drive, assuming there's a road the whole way and the terrain doesn't become too inhospitable, neither of which Bulma's map indicates is the case.

Do we have an map of the area that shows the terrain around the balls?

There's a lot of mountains and forests to the north, but there's a major road that connects two of the major cities, so it's well maintained.

In the west is desert and more mountains. There's a road, but it's not as major.

While Bulma probably won't be a frontline fighter, especially in the Z era, she really should be able to defend herself a little, or at least flare her ki in an 'I need help' signal.
