Son Quest (Dragon Ball)

It's more that Gale Palm isn't a precision attack; it's a shotgun blast of compressed air. If you're close enough and in position to break the steering wheel, you're basically taking out the whole front seat.
So if you want to do that, feel free.
Even if it WAS precision, the cars would have to be very conveniently spaced for us to have a shot at the steering wheel without blasting through some portion of the truck itself.
Though... can we run as fast as the cars are going? Also, what are our odds of jumping between the various vehicles? Do we feel we can reliably pull it off, or would it be a tad tricky?
BTW, you haven't thread-marked the latest update yet.

Run as fast as the cars? No, they're going 70-80 miles right now. You're not a cheetah yet. Though you could jump between cars, yes.
Also, thanks for pointing out. It's taken care of.

hmm, strange thought, but I wonder if Pilf is behind it. put out a small bounty on us and the dragon balls among the bandits, without telling them what the dragon balls do.

@Leingod

Question, why is Goku bothering with attacking them with his body and/or ki attacks?

He has the power pole. He could just point it at the bad guys and say extend, and this would be over in moments. This is the exact situation where the Power Pole shines, where he needs to strike a bunch of specific targets far away really quickly.

Have it extend to hit the head of the driver, or have it extend into the wheel thus breaking the wheel. Have it extend into the engine.

Do we know about the Power Pole? Can we recommend this?

He will use it; he just hasn't brought it out yet. If you notice, more than once in canon he'll start a fight with hand-to-hand and then switch to the Nyoi-Bo, even if the Nyoi-Bo is the more efficient option.
And yes, you do know about it and can recommend it. Or ask to borrow it, I guess.

An easy answer. Because no one voted for it:V

[X] Plan Shade

[X] Keep driving. send Goku to the car roof to snipe the bandits cars with his bo. while Jin run along the car and provide close and mid range interference

All-Out Offensive and Defend the Car are tied right now, it seems. As soon as one vote gets a majority, I'm locking this vote to write the update.

The Diablo Desert, pt. 3
"Goku! Concentrate on protecting Bulma and the car! Use your staff to deflect the bullets!" you yell, as the bandits ready their guns.

"Got it!" Goku replies, drawing his staff and matching his cloud's speed so that it's hovering above the car next to you as the first bandits begin to open fire.

"If I get killed, I'm haunting the crap out of both of you, you hear me!?" Bulma yells.

Awareness + Speed (10.5) vs. Difficulty (10) – Success!

Reflex + Weapon Speed (8) vs. Difficulty (7) – Goku Success!

They're starting slow, only the ones with pistols firing: most likely, they don't want to damage the car too much, or they just don't want to waste precious ammo from their more valuable weapons. Resources are hard to come by in the Diablo Desert.

Whatever the reason, they're simply making this easier for you and Goku. Even better, they aim most of their bullets at the two of you, rather than Bulma or the car. At least, you think so. Most of them aren't very good shots, so it's hard to say.

Regardless, you and Goku are able to track the bullets and swipe most of them out of the air before they hit the car, and dodge the ones that are trying to hit you. One or two manage to get through and strike you before you can dodge, but the worst they'll do is bruise the skin. Thanks to his staff, Goku is able to strike quite a few more bullets from the air than you, since doesn't have to move around as much to block bullets that are further away.

After several seconds of this, a few of them start to get the hint that it's not working and stop wasting their bullets, giving you and Goku an opportunity to take advantage of this lull to thin out the enemies' numbers.

"Goku! I'm going to get rid of another vehicle; make sure you block anything headed towards the front of the car or the wheels!" you shout.

Agility + Might (10) vs. Difficulty (8) – Success!
2 Damage (0 Health Remaining)
Jin is fighting non-lethally! Bandit is unconscious

Might (5) vs. Difficulty (3) – Success!

You leap towards the nearest vehicle feet-first, shattering the driver's side window and knocking out the driver. And just in case there's someone else in the vehicle (a remodeled mobile home), you tear the steering wheel out almost as soon as your arms are inside the vehicle.

Might (5) vs. Difficulty (3.5) – Success!
Reflex + Speed (10) vs. Difficulty (9) – Success!
3 bandits taken care of! 20 remaining
1 vehicle taken care of! 8 remaining

The vehicle lurches as the driver's foot has been removed from the gas pedal, so you smash open the windshield with the steering wheel still in your hand, then leap out onto the hood and try to jump back to the rapidly-moving car.

It's touch-and-go for a second, as you only get one hand on the rear bumper and are forced to run at top speed for a few seconds to avoid being dragged behind, but you manage to flip yourself up onto the back of the car in time.

You get back up onto the top just in time to see Goku magically extend his staff and use it to whack two shooters, leaning out of car windows, on the head and knock them out. Luckily for them they're quickly pulled back in by their fellows before they lose consciousness.

Might + Skill (10.5) vs. Difficulty (9) – Success!
5 bandits taken care of! 15 remaining (counting the 2 Goku took out)
2 vehicles taken care of! 6 remaining

You stare at Goku for a moment, taking in this strange sight, even as you idly toss the steering wheel you forgot was in your hand like a chakram, where it embeds itself in the spokes of one of the vehicles, causing it to lose control and crash into another one. "Goku… how long has your staff been able to do that?"

Goku looks at you in confusion. "Huh? I dunno… forever, I guess?"

Your response is cut off as a few of the vehicles start to back away from the car. Are they retreating?

"What the hell!?" Bulma screeches. Apparently not.

Looking around, you see the problem: one of the vehicles is a redecorated military jeep, and someone has pulled away a large tarp to reveal a minigun mounted on the back. It's currently trailing about 10 feet behind the car, and one of the bandits is getting it ready.

"Hey Jin, what's that thing?" Goku asks, pointing at the gun as one of the bandits starts loading a belt of ammo.

"A very big gun," you say, a touch more calmly than you're really feeling right now. "And if those bullets hit us… they'll do a lot more than leave a bruise."

"Oh."

"Oh God, I'm too young and pretty to die!" Bulma wails.

What's the plan?

AN: Weapon Combat was added to Game Mechanics, and Goku's Weapon Attributes have been added to his Character Sheet. Jin's will be added... as soon as he actually fights with a weapon.

Hm... we're in the desert, so... use Gale Palm to whip up a lot of dust to give us cover, while Goku uses his staff to take out the jeep with the minigun?

@Leingod How thick is the support for the machine gun? Would Goku be able to break it with a quick jab of his power-pole? How likely is he to hit it?

And while I'm asking questions, might as well cover possible eventualites.
How likely are we able to reach it ourselves before he can start shooting? Would we be able to jump back after disabling the car?

It's pretty sturdy, so a quick jab? No. It might even be able to take a punch or two from one of you before breaking.
You might be able to move the barrel with it, though.

Odds are maybe 50/50.
Bulma would probably have to slow down a little. Goku could just pick you up with the Flying Nimbus, though.
EDIT: Your chances of success are higher if you do something like, I don't know, using the Nyoi-Bo or a Gale Palm to push yourself forward.

I like Kelenas idea... maybe Goku could also whack one end of the gun to make it miss us if that doesn't work? or jab it between the barrels so it can't shoot at all?

It's possible, though I'll point out that if you want to do something high-precision, you're probably better off just taking the Nyoi-Bo and using it yourself (I always use the Japanese name, because I'm too immature to say "Power Pole" without snickering).
EDIT: Skill/Weapon Skill is one of the key Attributes to that Check.

If we can't disable the gun, we would be better off disabling the shooter.

Hmm, actually, idea. @Leingod what is the feasibility of this
[] Catch a ride on Goku's extending Power Pole, quickly bringing you to the Gatling Gun. You will then disable both the gunner, and the the car (those steering wheels are so vulnerable), and then quickly return on goku's retracting Power Pole.

You mean, can you do it? Yes. If you're asking "will it work?" I have to say that answering that would be a conflict of interest, since as the GM I'd rather you not be sure something will work until you do it.
But yeah, it's a totally valid plan.

I know you can't tell us if it works, but you can tell us if Jin would see any problems with the plan, him being there himself, and supposedly having the idea. Like knowing whether or not he could break the support for the Gatling gun in one strike.
But, since it's sound enough that Jin doesn't see any problems, I will go with it.
