Just a check on this. I was thinking of a social Adept. I tend to base characters off images, and I have this idea for a Face based on Maetel and other Matsumoto-style female anime characters.
Born to Russian parents who worked in Mumbai's entertainment industry, young Yulia Belakova was actually raised on the trailing edges of the Bollywood B-list. even as a young girl, she had a way with people, a charm and presence that coaxed people into doing things for her. Surely, even as her parent's careers were fading, she would become a rising star. She was a truly beautiful girl, which helped.
Oddly, that presence didn't seem to extend to cameras, so after a short stint as a child star, the young lady dropped from view. Years would pass before she resurfaced in a very unanticipated position. She never left Mumbai, she just moved to the business side of Bollywood - and soon became all to familiar with its seedy black underbelly. Like many a burned out child actress, Yulia had found that she was no longer entitled to any profits or proceeds from, nor did she have any rights to,any of her previous work. Unlike most burnouts, she'd found her true talent and calling, instead of the usual collapse and tabloid tragedy. Furthermore, it seemed that like many thousands of others, her acting career was mostly forgotten, since her adept abilities didn't charm the cold hearted camera lens. Most of her performances were considered average at best, with her looks considered as the only reason she'd been given the part. But she had changed.
She learned that she was an adept, and that her frail, seemingly waifish body could do inhuman things. Likewise, she learned that she was constantly using the magic to influence and read people around her. . She could charm information out of the most stoic, calm the most vicious and gently redirect the energy of others to benefit her. It was a dangerous role, and so she took it upon herself to use some of her natural adept talent to become a competent fighter.
She found herself acting as a sort of negotiator for shady parties, a sort of fixer who brought talented people together with jobs that needed to be done. This included herself, often accepting jobs that needed a personal touch to get done. Now, she works backstage to run the show. The Vory she deals with jokingly have called her Tsarina, although she thinks it's annoying. Worse, it seems to be spreading with her rep as a negotiatior...
