After some deliberation, I have now always agreed with you, as one can tell by listening to the voices of the past to assess my "vote." I think that such respectful behaviour should help build a trust that allows Yu to return the affection
Potential friend: Code Pink does not appear to have simple star pupils, as they instead seem adaptable to her mood. Alright, let's see if I can edge the vote just over then. Mostly, I see going for the character interaction as the most benefitial action from pretty much either angle.
If we want to push Yu to have social interactions for the sake of it, there's an opportunity right there.
If you just want to cause trouble, pushing them to have social interactions is the way to go to trigger their social awkwardness and have them cutely panic.
If you actually want to help them get on school on time, we need directions from her anyway, and making it a walk and talk or something sounds much more practical to me than trying to combine conversing to ask for directions and noping out of the situation, only to run away in the direction she's headed in anyway.

Why did I think that asking eldritch abominations to help me with a social situation was a good idea? I was that desperate, that's why. Well, who said I had to get verbal?
I point at the girl and she blinks, sparkles emitting from her eyelashes. She then points at herself, then at me. I point at her harder and she does the same. We're getting nowhere at this point. Not the finger point kind of point. I point at the toast in her hand. Realization crosses her face as she gasps in an overtly dramatic yet adorable way. I can feel the close ups her face is having right now.
"I'M SO LATE NOW! Yumeko-san is gonna have my throat! And I can't say that the Late Rush stepped all over me again! Ohh what do I do!?"
I somehow doubt it would be, honestly. This Late Rush seems to be a daily thing too, by the sounds of it. The fact that casual danger like this is normal makes me feel very uneasy. Pink Sparkle Cadet rushes to put the toaster back on her mouth and waves at me before running off, the tiny plush charm on her bag bumping with its carrier as the recent experience not rubbing off on her enough to check both ways at least three times before crossing the street. Realizing that I'm losing my way to school, I follow.
The run to school was surprisingly uneventful, not counting the bright light laser beams of the Battle For The World's Fate, the occasional Kaiju roaring in the background and the police cars searching for Truck-kun. All I had to do was follow the sparkles emitted by my guide which took me to the gates of a huge, pale orange bricked school with some rather fancy-looking architecture. I can't admire it since I have bigger fish to fry. Standing at the gate with hands folded behind their back is a person who I assume is the Principal. The trail of sparkles is long gone.
I slow down and catch my breath as I reach the short, grandma-energy emitting woman with a look of what could possibly the largest amount of guilt on my face. I briefly consider using the timezone excuse Akira mentioned. Instead of getting berated, the Principal smiles at me
"Good morning, Parker-san. I see you tried your best to be on time today"
I quickly bow, the dread climbing up my throat. I'm going to get expelled at this point. The Japanese really value their timing.

The whole class sighs and I can feel the same 'You're joking' thoughts emitting from them. I guess she didn't notice we wore the same uniform.
She turns to the purple haired girl sitting infront of her with a grin as she waves her hands at me
"See, Yumeko-san? They saved me from Truck-kun today! I told you I wasn't lying!"
Purple haired girl simply huffs and neatly folds her hands on her desk, turning to inspect me before standing up
"Welcome to our class, Parker-san. As Class Representative, I, Omizara Yumeko, will make sure that we take good care of you"
The stoicism of her voice makes me wonder if they actually will but the authority she poses makes me certain that she'll make sure of it. Principal nods and gives me a smile before leaving me standing there. I scan the room for free seats and spot a few
