While your logic is sensible for training, the failed "Care for Neji" action included a promise to make up for it ASAP. Thus, avoiding it would be worse than at least trying.
Additionally, the only plan with a chance to rival the winning one is Plan: Persona. Since it's very similar to yours, would you consider switching?

I think you didn't read anything I wrote... We'll have equal chance as Jounin as we would as Chunin, which is to say 0 chance. We'll have to hit Kage level to stand a chance, and we ain't doing that as a academy student.

Coming after us will get them a LOT of flak. And that's ignoring that Minato could arrive to help out at literally any moment. If they are to make moves against us, they are gambling their lives against 1) their ability to beat Kakashi, a legendary ninja, and 2) that he doesn't got one of those emergency kunai on him that will insta-summon Minato.
There is a lot of points to come out as the newest OP God Figure. Konoha is #1, but it's far from unassailable, and the sooner we make a name for ourselves the sooner we can start making things better.

I think risking a compound failure with Neji is worse than him waiting a bit...but this seems to have the least risk for compound failures other than my plan.
Seriously, we're risking training being cut off or maluses on future rolls. Or worse. Even a 49 after a failure last turn could be bad. That can be avoided by skipping a turn for the actions failed last turn.

"My name is Shirou." He stated. "I… well it doesn't mean anything anymore. I've wanted to talk to you for so long...that speaking to you now I have nothing to say. You are everything I could have asked you to be."
"And what would that be?" you asked.
"A good person." He stated. "Keep being who you are Shiro Hyuga, and great power will be your reward."

You held Neji in your arms as you took him from the training ground towards the small gravesite for your parents and the others who died.
The Clan weren't petty enough to desecrate the bodies of the dead main branch members, but treated your parents grave with reverence… if only because now, they respect you.
"Hey Neji… I know you know mom and dad are dead, but you deserve to know where they are buried." You stated.
Was it cruel? No, you did not believe it was. Hiashi hiding things from your brother when he could clearly understand was wrong, and cruel. He wanted to learn where your parents were, and Hiashi sidestepping the issue was not helping him.
Hiashi didn't want to accept the fact they were gone.
Neji was afraid that he was abandoned by them. And you didn't blame him for being afraid. He knew next to nothing about them.
You set him down in front of the grave stones. "Here's mom and dad… Heroes of the Clan." You whispered to him.
And you both sat by the graves. You told them both about everything you could.
When you finished, Neji was asleep in your arms… and Hiashi was watching you both, as the sun set behind the walls.

"You are his uncle Hiashi!" You used his first name angrily. "The brother of his father! He was afraid of being abandoned, because he understood things just enough to let those worries come to pass!"
Your uncle sighed. "I… I have no excuse other than not being willing to accept the fact they are gone."
You let out a sob. "I know. I can't accept it either uncle… but we need to be truthful… and strong for those who are left. We cannot bury ourselves behind a masquerade of lies… they will just collapse and hurt us all."
You paused and looked your uncle in the eyes. "Can you promise me that Hiashi… Please stop stopping so distant to both of us?"
Hiashi had tears in his eyes. "I will try."
"Do… or do not Hiashi." You stated warmly. "There is no try."
Hiashi frowned. "I will."
Reward: Hiashi will start being the father to Neji that he has been lacking. He also wants to punch you for being so blunt and honest with him.
He feels as though he failed you both, but wants to make up for it.
He also is beginning to feel better.

Orochimaru has a whole team that survived a lethal encounter, and is a Hokage's student. Orochimaru while bedridden could cause Kakashi to be intimidated.
Kakashi resigned from Anbu already? I thought he was still in it. That is not muddling canon with quest, but happened in this quest?
Danzo is dead to me in this quest. That blame Danzo tag has no right to exist here because Danzo did nothing wrong this quest.
