Olek, Thorsson was not all that happy that he'd drawn 'ranger training' from the miners cap, for the year. The Sun was far to bright in his eyes, and if his ma was to be believed it'd no doubt 'stunt' his growth. making him too tall for his real passion, mining...

"Master, must we watch them again, they're just umgi?" He hissed, before recieving a sharp smack to the knee.

"Watch your tongue wazzock. These folk may be fallen umgi, for all we know. You ever seen an Imperial wear this many furs?"

Olek shook his head. "Never left the hold before master."

Tharr struggled not to facepalm. The chance that the umgi bellow would be able to hear it being too high.

[X] Josef One-eye: Intrigue Skill – 17 (+15 To Scouting Rolls)

I think scouting is going to cover a lot of what we are going to do in the early day and that is going to be when we are most at risk. We need the scout now and we will need it next turn and the one after that etc...

[X] Try and speak with them (Rumors of your presence will spread if they peaceful if hostile they will try and harm you and a battle will occur and unless all are killed rumors will spread of your location.

We need trade partners and we need to know where we are and what the dangers are. Right now the only sign that we are on a different world is the lack of a green moon

[X] Plan Let's get Down to Business
-[X]Settle Disputes as they come: The Clan is in a new land but that does not change that your kin are a prickly people and without a level headed leader are more than likely to fight one another when things get boring. Sadly the lack of a proper Warriors hall that is likely to occur quite a lot but your sure you can keep the peace if you watch over them carefully. (Keeps Hold Stability Stable)
-[X] Test your warriors to see who is the best among them so that he can help lead: The Throng has suffered much in recent wars both against chaos and then the urk. Still, there are a few elders among the clan and you are sure one of them has plenty of experience in both leading and Training.
-[X] Excavate and build a Clan Residence: The Clan needs a location with which they can relax and watch the Garazi Grow and while the hold is new a hall to see them housed will do much to easing the burden of being in a new land.
-[X] Excavate and build a Mushroom Farm: Your Clan are no farmers and sadly have had little need to build dedicated growing hall the last hold having had plenty of space for surface farms. Still, you are engineers and it will be of little issue in building a growing hall for Mushrooms, even if your clan is not sure what they are doing. They do like things dry right? Well, you hoped they did.
-[X] Map the surrounding area: You are new to the area find out the best way to move around the place and also, figure out what is around you so that you can plan for them.
[X] Establish an early warning network: Send out the Ranger's of the Clan to map the best locations for watch posts and also, lookout points so that the rangers can set up watch and warn the clan of any coming danger.
-[X] Prospecting: There is much to be found within the Earth and your clan has proven themselves adept at knowing where even the best of things are.
-[X] Focus some effort on a project: Much work will be required to establish a hold but you are sure that if you lend a hand out somewhere that more can be done even if it will not be easy. (Excavate and build a Mushroom Farm)
-[X] Learn Battlefield strategies: War never changes, set yourself to learn new strategies and techniques to lead the Throng to victory. (Martial Skill progresses)(Progress to next level is 1046/1500)

You looked down into the cavern watching as your kin moved about their day to day lives happily, many of them at least a little content to be living in proper houses for once, the smiths and miners happy that they would soon be able to ply their craft's, well that was what they thought, though you were still undecided on what you would have the clan expand next. Though you knew that it was likely to be the mines and possibly the Workshop as the engineers were bound to start getting uppity within the next few years but the Brewers hall and farm was also needed, and the thought of running out of ale was horrifying. Still, you would talk with your advisors about that at a later date as it was not a light choice.

Glancing off to the makeshift workshop you shuddered at the looks of the thing, you were no fully trained engineer but even you could tell that it was umgak. Still, it was better than nothing, the sound of walking drew your attention. Glancing over your shoulder you saw Aunt Sif carrying little Sigrun looking at you, a certain look in her eyes.

Looking to the stairs you wondered if you could escape before dismissing the thought knowing there was no escaping her when she wished to discuss your future marriage. At least it was only an uncomfortable subject, still, you wondered if there was no way to get Faragrim here to distract her. Taking a deep breath you braced yourself for a long few hours, at least there were only minor issues keeping you busy. Tasks less embarrassing than this, now if only you could go and take a look at all that had been done over the year.

You Glanced between the two elders in relief as the long and arduous effort you had put in had managed to devolve the entire problem before it could start. Now as you looked between the two of them you could not help but ask. "Now, why were you starting a grudge over the mushrooms." You asked the two heads of the Engineers and Mason guild.

You had expected an answer, though it did not come both elders turned to glance at one another and nodded silently. Both of them answering at the same time their voices in the exact same tone. "How to prepare them for eating." The answer left you with a desire to knock their heads together then again it was not all that surprising you supposed when dealing with the twins.

Letting out a sigh you looked at them before shaking your head you turned away from them marching back to the construction site while shouting over your shoulder. "Next time, take your disputes on food somewhere else. Where not those damned Grombolgi." You said while ignoring their protests. Still, at least things were calm now if only your Aunt would stop pointing you at all these minor disputes.

You glanced over the veterans of your clan and nodded towards many of them who have proved themselves in the war, many of them sharing a similar haunted look you saw in your reflection. But still, they stood having endured the crucible and become stronger if not entirely whole after the ordeal.

-Review Shadow Forests/ do you mean?>Forest of Shadows<
You nodded to Falstad the only other dawi of your clan to have fought beside you in the skirmishes through the Shadow Forests/>Forest of Shadows< in the war. Your group having been cut off after the river crossing had been lost. Still, he was but one of many of your clan to have survived the war against the Dum. Tearing your eyes away from him you locked eyes with the oldest dawi in your clan, his ancient eyes staring into you.

You bowed your head slightly to the Elder.
"Ancestor Muradin, I am glad to see that you have recovered from the journey here."
You said respectfully to the Elder as he had taken a rather nasty blow on their arrival and you had not known that he had recovered.

Muradin stared at you his ancient battle az upon his back.
"Recovered!, Their was no need for the codling that I was given. Why back in my day we were expected to charge down the slopes of the mountains so to cleave the urk in twain." He Grumbled before spitting off to the side. "That little tumble was nothing more than a setback and the broken leg was no issue either, why I once slew a Black urk with nothing but a broken ax and my bare hands. They were bigger in those day's too." He said while turning his gaze upon the others of your clan.

You nodded a smile on your face.
"As you say elder,"
You said as you looked between Falstad and Muradin, wondering who would be the best to choose. As both of them would do well to advise you, though Muradin did prefer the ax and shield and his experience would be invaluable. You did not doubt that Falstad would do just as well and he had trained many a dawi in combat, even if it was not quite normal among the clan. Still, that left the question of who would be better to choose.

You walked into your new home and let out a sigh, it was larger than that of the others and nestled nicely into the highest part of the new cavern. Something that made you feel a little more uncomfortable but you could live with it.

Looking around the place, you spotted the meeting room a large fire built into its side and leading deeper in you could make out the small kitchen that would be used should you not head down to the communal eating hall. Looking around you moved deeper into your home you spotted six unused rooms, well maybe five since you were sure that your aunt would be moving in with her growing family. Something that brought a smile to your face, still that was for later though you were going to have to go hunting to maybe secure some meat for a small feast.

Shaking your head you turned and left your home passing your personal solar that you would use for long days and came out onto the patio that overlooked the cavern the stream not far from your home while below you stood the new homes of the clan. Many of them looking complete, well mostly as they still lacked many of the doors that would be needed but that was of little issue. Still looking down on your clan go about their day was kind of relaxing, the armory and larger bathhouses and communal areas at the base of the cavern neatly built leading your clan along. Still, it had taken considerable effort to complete. Especially as you glanced at the hall opposite the residence, the growing hall fully complete and the stream diverted slightly to keep the mushrooms soil damp. Though it only looked better for it as the architecture of your people guided it onwards to help the hold prosper.

Who would have thought your father's odd habit of collecting trinkets and tomes would pay off, though why he had a tome from bretonia on mushrooms you would never know.

Walking besides elder Ulla as you walked into the complete Hall you nodded in appreciation of the work. When you had started working on a way to build a growing hall, many of the clan had put their heads together only having designed the systems used within the growing hall of your old hall. Though as engineers you had many and had thought that you would have to experiment for years before you ever made any progress, well that was what you thought was going to happen. Still, it was surprising that a tome held such excellent information within your personal study.

Then again many things had survived the transition and your father's study tomes had been lucky to be among them. Still, why the Wazzock would collect things about mushrooms you would never know. Letting out a breath you glanced at Elder Ulla. "How sure are we that this is the correct system, we had to have found nearly a dozen of the damned things in the archive." You asked as you watched a bit of water pour into the bed before sealing up again leaving the Stream to continue on its way.

Ulla shook her head as she gave you a kind smile. "Maybe if we follow what the Bretonians wrote." She said, her face curling in distaste. "Then it should be correct, though I would not be too hopeful as they are fools. Still, we may have found one of their few thinkers, so there is hope that the knowledge within the tome is true, though why they documented the best place mushrooms grow I will never know." She said to you before breaking off to check on the progress of the Mushrooms, which seemed to be growing better than before. Still, you would watch and if you were lucky the engineers had selected the correct system.

You Looked over the freshly drawn map of the area and nodded glad that you had some intelligence of the area, even if it was only the immediate area, especially after what had occurred with the umgi. As you were sure that it would be far from the last time you would hear of it. Still, as you looked over the map of the detailed local area, you were left with a sour taste in your mouth as you noted there were few valleys near your location only a few smaller ones filled with deer and boar. Still, it was good to know.

Though the question was how did you move around as there were few natural cave ways from the look of things, though the few that there were could be used to great effect. Still, you were sure that the information would prove useful once you needed it. Especially in planing a few defences for the hold.

You stood atop one of the many watchpoints that had been built around the valley and its approach and firmly pulled your cloak closer to your face, the cold winds cutting through the fabric whilst around you the peaks of the mountain stood tall and firm. While below you could see the approach in a distance and while you could not make out the shape of anything moving within you could see the next watch post and nod glad that it was easy to see.

The Work had taken much of the two years to set everything up so that it would not be detected but also so that your kin would be comfortable. Backing away from the top you moved into the small little room that had been dug into the mountain and found yourself relaxing around a small fire that kept the place warm and the elements out and while there were only four of these places you were sure they would serve well. Glancing at the ranger Ragnar you offered him your tankard of ale. "How long you up here for?" You asked knowing that it was bound to be a harsh task.

Ragnar grinned and took a sip of ale before he spoke. "Not too long Gotri, only another two weeks then one of the beardlings are been sent up here for training, should be good for them. Hopefully, the cold will temper their blood a little, too eager I say." He grumbled but you nodded knowing well that he had been much the same.

Taking back the tankard you nodded.
"Aye but it's the young blood, we were not all that different and I remember well what it got you into. Then again I was much the same."
You said fondly.
"I best be on my way, much to do I'm afraid."
You said, Ragnar bid you farewell as you left the trip down the mountain cold, though the view was nice enough. Still, you would have preferred some dwarven architecture among the roaring heights, though that would come in time.

Glancing at Master Durin and then back to the two in front of you, both of them older and most definitely better trained than you, though they looked respectful you could tell that it was a just thing as if it were not for your victory's during the war that there would be a judging glare in their eyes. Thankfully that was not the case, though as you glanced at the makeshift workshop you wondered what they were up to. Though you would have to find out later.

Looking between them you had to wonder why these two had made it among the Master's final selection, as you were pretty sure that more than one fellow engineer had complained about them, then again they were a little less orthodox than most dawi even risking Expulshing and there were few things worse than a blackbearding.

Though as you looked at them you focused on the elder. "Elder Burlok, you were the last one that I expected to try and council me, especially after the last time you took to a teaching role." You stated though the sheepish look he gained had your groan. "Why did you even want the position, I know you prefer the solitude of the machine, and managing the guild is bound to draw you away from them?" You asked as you looked at the reclusive elder.

Elder Burlok seemed to straiten at the question before glancing off to his cousin and master and then you. "No real reason just thought the clan could use some wisdom, though I won't be bothered if you pick Gunnar, he may not be as knowledgeable as I, but he should have a better time leading the engineers than I." He said while ignoring the glares of his cousin and master.

Elder Gunnar shifted his glare while letting out a huff. "Pick the lout, my Thane, he needs to get out more, I found him recently in a secluded out the ways cave. Though I don't doubt what he says is true he knows more and will likely be of more help. That is until I get some more experience but my cousin needs direction. You inspected the roast and nodded glad that it was going just right, though you lacked the spices your pa had, you had made do and while it would lack a bit of taste it was better than nothing. Turning away from the spit you came face to face with Kaz two tankards of ale in his hand. Taking your ale you took a seat on your patio that overlooked the cavern. "Thanks, so how are you and Frida doing these days?" You asked as you turned your attention to him while the others sang within your house.

Kaz remained standing a dopey grin on his face. "She's good though as of late she been out of it, though that is of a little issue as far as I am aware. Though she has been rather nervous as of late, especially after been to one of the priestesses of Valaya. I'm sure it will pass. How about you I hear your is aunt still pestering you to get married to either Legertha or Veborg." He said his smile not leaving his face a calculating look in his eyes.

Letting out a sigh, you nodded. "Aye, though it was damn strange I always thought I would marry for the good of the clan, yet here I am wondering if I should marry one of our own out of fear that we are in some far off land. Something I am more sure we are, as the Umgi were different from those back home, strange language too." You said glancing over to the boar and saw the flames were at least manageable. "Still, I am sure that it will blow over not let's not talk about that little issue and talk about the fact that you left your wife at home when she's out of it." You said focusing back on your friend though you did not get to discuss the topic as your friends came out singing and a barrel of ale atop their shoulder their eye's focused on the boar. Letting out a sigh you knew you would have to fend off any meddling hands you could talk with Kaz about that later.

You glared at the book of your ancestors wanting to burn the damn thing, you knew what it was saying even asking but for the life of you the ability to commit all the details and advice to memory would not come to you, this was why you needed someone to walk you through things personally with a little demonstration. The Tactic was not that hard after all but the lack of seeing it in action was throwing your head for a loop, slamming the book shut you took a step away from the thing before you threw the tome into the fire.

Letting out a breath you went to fetch yourself some ale so to calm down, glancing over at the thing you wondered if the Throng could be called for a small demonstration before dismissing the idea as they were likely needed to expand something within the hold. Rubbing your eye's you looked at the tome before picking it up and sliding it into the bookshelf. It was useless to try and learn something when you knew it wouldn't stick. At least you would be able to implement the idea if you were pushed to do so. Though you would rather have it run in a wargame than in the field first. Leaving your room you moved towards the makeshift marksman range knowing you would need some more practice with the crossbow, especially as you had no supply of powder yet.

You Walked down the cavern following Master Miner Borin as he leads you into the depths of the mountain for what felt like hours. Still if what they had said was true then you had to know. Coming to a fork in the path Borin stopped and looked at you.

He bowed slightly. "My Thane, Each of these path diverges from our discoveries, though I would suggest the one to the right as it leads to the Silver cavern we found, though if you wish we can go and take a look at the Iron first and then save the Fine silver for last. It's a beauty I tell ya, why I nearly wept at the sight as I know our ancestors will be proud that we have Silver in our hold once more." His voice gruff but the skip and smile on his face let you know that he was happy.

You nodded glancing between the two paths and decided that you might as well take a look at both of them while you were here so you went down one of the paths. The clan looked to have a great start to things.

A Talk with the Umgi: : 61+20(Omake's)=81

Letting out a low sigh you whispered. "Faragrim, have the others ready for anything and if they try something. You know what has to be done, but I would rather we not start a grudge over something that could be avoided and we finally have someone to talk with. Still no point in been careless." You said before silently putting the gun on your back you backed away and cleaned yourself up.

Glancing to the two of your kin at your side you gave them a nod and walked around to a clearing some good distance away. Coming out of the forest you could see them clearly while your eyes spotted a number of the clan laying in wait should they try anything. You mumbled. "Well let's get this over with, have your weapons ready as these umgi look like Norscans." Your voice barely carrying over to your kin.

Straightening you walked with a purpose and spoke loudly your hands most apparent in front of you and visible, while at your sides, you could make out your kin's shields at the ready. "UMGI!, are you Friends of the Empire?" You shouted out feeling rather foolish for not thinking of something else.

They jumped at your voice many of them looking at you in shock and worry as they put their hands on their weapons a few of them even drawing their bows but not notching an arrow. Which was probably a good thing. Letting out a sigh, you approached them carefully and tried to convey that you came in peace.

Though any hope of actually understanding them went out the window when you heard them speaking in some strange tongue that you could not understand. Shoulders slumping slightly you spotted a fallen tree and moved to it slowly and took a seat and gestured for the umgi to sit across from you atop a stone.

They approached it carefully and sat across from you some of them even letting their weapon go while several garazi poked their heads out of the tent. Focusing on the umgi who sat in front of you his beard of decent size for an umgi, even if it was rather unkempt. "So, do you understand Reikspeel?" though you only received a calculating look with little recognition. Grumbling you spoke in several languages that you only knew a little of. "Albion, Norse, Bretonian, Tilian." Though nothing came of it as it only seemed to throw them into confusion.

It seemed that they were only hunting for some reason and would leave as soon as they could but first, they needed animals likely wanting to restore their food. You nodded and left them in peace well kind of as you still left guards to watch them.

Something they were aware of as they even left you payment for possibly staying on your lands, though how they knew you were there you would never know, at least they gave you enough food for a year. Still, as you sat around a fire later on in the years you wondered what would come of this. Moving down the street, you passed many a young Garazi who were lead around by the priestesses of Valaya and kept in order by their older members. Grinning at the sight you easily sidestepped them making sure that none of them were left behind before making your way out of the hold.

The last few months had been peaceful ever since the umgi had left and despite the clan's low food and ale, things were good and notwithstanding some of the more vocal engineers and miners, the hold was at peace. Though you did admit that it was bound to change if things were not seen to. Looking around the buildings you spotted Logan returning from the small training grounds that had been built to train the Garazi when the time allowed it.

Jogging over towards him careful of your fellow kin you met him just outside one of the armouries, you grinned when you saw that he looked mostly rested. "Logan! Where do ya think you're going?" You asked Rhetorically while also gaining his attention.

Logan turned to you and seemed to slump slightly knowing that his plans were likely to come to an end. "Thorin, could you maybe not ask Alric or better yet Grumdi I'm not just gonna drop my plans for nothing." He said gruffly before making his way into the armory.

You shook your head and followed him. "But you don't even know what I was going to ask, at least I'm sure I didn't" You said thoughtfully a grin on your face.

Logan grunted not even looking at you as he spoke. "You haven't yet, but you have that damned look on your face and I know that it will be the end of my plans." He said gruffly as he took off his helmet and put it on a stand.

You let out a huff of indignation at that. "I'm not that bad." You muttered while trying not to sound that offended at the idea. You only received an exasperated look from Logan who looked like he disagreed greatly.

"Help me get out of this armor and we can talk some more but I gotta go and see Vala, Nephews apparently been pestering her to get me to see them more." he said while unclasping some of his armor.

You nodded letting your idea fall to the wayside as you helped him out of the armor. "How are they? Been awhile since I last saw them." You said removing a pauldron and placing it on one of the nearby tables a few other warriors around you going about their day only giving you minor nods of respect.

Logan's small grin turned into a smile as he talked about them. "They're good, I hear that Lunn might even take on a new apprentice." He said the two of you devolving into small talk of the goings-on of the hold while Logan slowly took off his armor.

Though it came to an end when a ranger came running into the armory his beard just below his chest. His youthful eyes scanning over his elders. "My Thane, Master Josef said that you are needed, they found something." He said excitedly.

You gave a nod before turning back to logan. "You going to join me?" You asked your voice losing some of its warmth. Logan gave a hard nod and started to put his armor back on. You moved off to the side and started to do the same.

***

As you marched down the path a few warriors and thunderers at your back and Logan at your side, the young beardling barely more than a child led you to what had been discovered. The sun in your face and the snow slowly melting around you ever so slightly as you walked further down the path.

The Ranger stopped for a moment as he looked down a fork in the path before going down the right way looking uncertain. Glancing around, you watched as you slowly descended down onto a hidden trail.

Glancing over to Logan you spoke. "You know at this pace things don't seem all that dire, I might not have even needed you." Your voice carrying over the group while around you the sound of birds chirping kept the group at ease.

Logan only snorted at that before looking at you not paying attention to the path. "The last time you said that was outside that umgi town a few years back and we know how that turned out." He said while turning back to the path.

You slung your gun into your hands as you spoke. "Aye, though that was not my fault, I distinctly remember that been that other Wazzocks fault." You said indignantly and if anyone ever asked you would deny that you sounded like an umgi whining.

Logan grunted as he gave you a smile though his response was cut short as the ranger coughed nervously. Glancing to the beardling he stood before a group of rangers who stood some distance from the thing. "My Thane, Josef is inside." The Beardling said nervously.

You nodded to the lad before glancing at Logan. "Well, might as well get this over with, you wanna come in or you gonna see if you can find Grumdi since he's bound to be here." You said as you walked towards the cave, the stench meeting you even from a distance making you screw your nose up in disgust.

Logan did not answer for a moment stepping backwards. "I think Grumdi will like some company, though I doubt even him being in a foul mood will sway me from going in there. Enjoy Thorin." He said before making a hasty retreat from you.

Letting out a sigh you sucked in your breath and entered the cave and passed under two statues of Troll's both of them hideous and grotesque, the sun upon their faces. No doubt in your mind crafted by some fool who was exiled for his love of the urk. You screwed your nose at them and continued onwards making note to send for a couple of hammers, you would have no statues of trolls near the hold even umgak ones. Why were all things made from non-dawi crafters umgak, how hard was it to make a decent craft? Really some races just did not have the skill, talent and patience.

Passing ever forward despite your thoughts, you found Josef standing atop the corpse of a deceased Troll looking to have died some weeks ago. Though from what you could tell was done by a liberal amount of arrows. The fact it was dead was could only mean good things. Looking away from the corpse you saw two rangers cataloging what they had found.

Josef looked to you and spoke gruffly his single eye trained on you. "My Thane, it seems we had a troll problem in the area, thankfully they're dead by the looks of some umgak black arrows we found though I doubt whoever finished the beast off lived long to tell the tale. Damn things weapon was coated in old blood." He grunted out his head jerking to a large hammer in the corner.

You nodded glancing around before turning to him. "Have the others look for similar hiding places I doubt this was the last group of trolls in the area and keep watch for whatever killed them." Looking away, you looked to the pile of mismatched armor and weapons. "Send me a report on what you find and keep half the group I came with. Things might be lurking about." You said before leaving the cave you had things to think about.

Diplomacy:
To speak with others be they dawi or umgi always requires a little skill and tact to ensure no wrong occurs. Of course, there is always that strange elusiveness that you never understand from none dawi but at least you can kind of pick up on it. At least it will only last till you find some other poor dawi in the clan to take up the burden of speaking with outsiders.
1 Action Available (Not much you can do at the moment)

[]Settle Disputes as they come:

The Clan is in a new land but that does not change that your kin is a prickly people and without a level-headed leader are more than likely to fight one another when things get boring. Sadly with the lack of a proper Warriors hall, this is likely to occur quite a lot, but your sure you can keep the peace if you watch over them carefully. (Keeps Hold Stability Stable)

Martial:
With careful aim and deliberation will you strike at the enemies of the clan while also making sure that your kin will do all they can to be prepared.

2 Actions Available

[]Prepare the defences:

The Valley in which the Hold will be built is small and so is its entrance which is both small and Treturas to reach if not in the valley. The Path leading to it narrow and long with many boulders that the Throng could use to slow a Threat and more locations to act as perches for the Thunderers to rain death upon them. Still, preparations will be needed to ensure no threat gets in the valley and it will require a lot of work but you are sure that it will be worth it.
60% chance of success. Cost 2 Tools 1 Lumber
2 Turns

[]Establish a training ground:
The Throng needs a location to both train the green beards and practices their skills, of course, it will have to be under the sun much to your kin's displeasure.
Dice Determine How Good it will be and it will Cost 2 Tools (Takes up 1 Space but will be removed once warrior hall is built)
1 Turn

[]Have Them Assist in the mines:
All Dawi know how to mine and while many leave the profession to pursue their craft it is a vital skill, thankfully the Throng has little to do and that will just not do, especially since it has left them a little softer than usual. Something easy enough to solve especially if they use some of that free time to help harvest some extra ore.
(Doubles the harvesting rate of mines. Write in which mine's or just say all of them.)
60% chance of success. Cost 2 Tools per Mine selected
1 Turn

Stewardship:
Thankfully with the help of Alrik you can be sure that the hold will expand quickly but carefully under his care, though you are also glad that he helps bear the load on some of your work.

2 Actions Available

Surface Options Space 0/4

[]Begin farming the land:

You are a clan of Engineers and have been so for a long time, sadly none of among the clan are farmers, and the required skills unknown, Thankfully you have built one or two farms so it should be easy. Of course, your not exactly sure how to grow the grain you have stored in the supply caravan. (Takes up 1 Space future Upgrades will take more) (Production is 1 Food and 1 Ale Grain)
40% chance of success Cost 4 Tools (Maintenance Cost of 1 Tool)
1 Turn

[] Set up a Logging Operation:
The Grove of trees below the hold and in another valley looks large and strong enough to use as a construction material and you are sure that it can be used as a steady source of lumber though the work will be hard and gain little as much of it will have to be hauled up to the Hold(Production of 2 Lumber)
60% chance of success Cost 2 Tools (Maintenance Cost of 1 Tool)
1 Turn

[] Grow A Grove of trees in the Valley:
The Hold needs a steady supply of lumber and the distance between the logging operation far and dawi-power limited, so having a grove within the valley should help speed up production. Though it will take many years before any of them will be ready for harvesting. (Takes up 2 Space)
50% chance of success
3 Turns

[] Hunting Lodges:
The Clan has lived within the mountains for two years now and the Rangers have noted the patterns of the animals in the area and know how to hunt them effectively. Of Course, hunting them is difficult with the Hold been so far away and something is needed to store the carcasses of the animals so that they can be gathered by members of the clan.
60% chance of success Cost 2 Tools, 2 Lumber (Produces +1 Unit of food) (Increased chance of the hold been detected)
1 Turn

Hold Options

[] Build a Hold Entrance:

The Clan lives within a Cavern and while it is a good place to begin the Hold will need a proper gate to be carved and built so that any foe that tries to harm the Clan will find more trouble than they think as a Strong Gate and Towers will bar their way.
60% chance of success Cost: 4 Tools and 2 Lumber, 2 Basalt
1 Turn

60% chance of success Cost: Cost 5 Tools 2 Lumber
2 Turns

[] Expand the Mushroom Farm:
The growing hall within your hold is decent enough and while you are no farmers, it will be easy enough to expand the space used to grow the mushrooms easily. 60% chance of success
Cost: 3 Tools (Improves base production of food to 1 unit)

2 Turns

[] Excavate a Brewery:
A Dawi needs Ale and a Hold needs a lot of it to keep running and dawi from going all strange, Thankfully all dawi clans know how to produce Ale even if it is not the best, of course as Engineers you like yours a little stronger and know what you're doing. So building a Brewery should be easy enough.
60% chance of success Cost: 4 Tools (Maintenance Cost of 2 Brew Grain)(Produces 4 Ale)
2 Turns

[] Excavate and build a Metal Smith Hall:
The Clans roots are in those of working metal and making the day-to-day items that many a dawi and umgi would use, Your clans skill at working metal is only paralleled by your fellow dawi and even some of them fall short of your standards. Still to ply metal to your will and standard requires a dedicated hall with specifically built facilities and tools so that your clan can work in peace.
70% chance of success Cost: 8 Tools (Maintenance Cost of 2 Iron Ore)(Produces 8 Tools and increases the quality of your Ingots used to Decent Quality) (Produces Ammo for breach-loaded Cannons. Cost: (Maintenance Cost of 2 Tools) (Production 4 Silver Ore)
2 Turns (+1 Turn Due to distance)

[] Excavate and Build a Miners Hall:
The Stone and earth hold a wealth that the hold needs to prosper, though the Hold is a great distance from the largest of deposits in the earth, thankfully a bit of work should make things easy enough especially if a hall is built so that the riches of the earth can be stored there for transport instead of having to haul it back to the hold. Of course, it should also, help with preparing for future mine expansions(Leads to be able to build lifts and also a way out of the hold without taking extra time.)

The Clan are all trained engineers, sadly they are not farmers as you have learned, then again you never expected them to be. You guys do not really have all that much to do at the moment regarding either diplomacy or even combat so those two areas are gonna be rather bare-bones for some time. Also, feel free to suggest some ideas you can do for them as I just might have missed an option for you guys. (Though I am sure I will come up with something.)

As for the events, some of them may seem strange but the first few turns I using them to populate the area alongside you guys. While also making use of them to keep things interesting.

Falstagg glared our at the map before him... near 200 years he'd been a ranger, and never once did he have to start mapping from scratch.

Usually there had been at least an Umgi map, or maybe some grobi scrawl for use as a template, but never from scratch. He didn't even know how to establish points to start his bearings. Like should he start with the centre as the hold? No some of the zhuffbar maps, had the hold in the corner... Then again, they'd been designed so they could all be placed together to form a greater map, so maybe that was the way to go?

He slammed his fist again some blue rock. Why couldn't they have landed somewhere near another hold... Wait what was that crevice just beyond that slope?

"Sooo..." 'Farmer' Klaus started... "Who knows what in the ancestors name we're supposed to be doing?" The assembled Garazi blinked at him. "I think we're supposed to read the tome first elder." Svetti Larrsdottir said, after raising her hand.

The elder stopped for a moment before chortling. "Aye lass, I know that, I was more meaning how we're meant to expand the damn thing. The 'shroom's' seem to be doing well, but how am I supposed to expand, it, dig out the walls with a hoe? Bring in a pick? Maybe even sow more largely dry manure?"

Another Garazi raised his hand. "What about we pick the walls, then lay more manure, and work it with a hoe elder?"

Klaus clapped his hands. "Alright lad, stay after hours and I'll give you some Millsdottirs." The Garazi beamed. "That's the first bit of progress I've had all month, who'd have thought farming would be so difficult?"

"My thane, as you can see here, the latest expansions to the forges, should allow us to start casting iron with maximum efficincy." You blinked blankly as Head smith Helga Lothsdottir led you around the metalworks. "I see... Impressive..." You choked out as the great cauldron like thing poored a stream of glowing orange liquid in a great bolted block before you, sending fumes everywhere.

"Ah splendid." She sighed breathing in deeply. "You'll be able to see our work first hand..." She signed to her workers to unbolt the block, before attaching a serioes of hooks to it. With a great groan the top half came clean off, leaving a series of glowing tools and parts in the great cast. "Bit of warping here." She grumbled, grabbing the still glowing iron with her gloves. Before reaching an axehead "Ancestors take it, we've got bubbling." She groaned aloud. "Thorek, have it pour more slowly next time, and maybe add some holes. Its a waste, a pure waste...." She grabbed the shoddy casts, only to toss them back into the cauldron.

"Best make sure, we don't repeat that next time." She grinned.

Durin glared at the schematics before him. Steam Golems... To think when he was but a lad the entire concept of Gronti seemed an ancient relic from the golden age...

No longer of course. The efforts of his peers over the last centuries had proven that... No longer were Gronti needed to be carved from the hearts of mountains, or pure gromril. No. Now they could be forged from bronze, steel and iron, worked not by animated rock. but by cogs and gears. While only a shadow of the glory of the ancestors, it was a welcome respite that despite the distance in time, Dawi could still replicate the wonders of the ancestors, even if it wasn't in the same way as in ages past.

It wasn't the same of course. The biggest hurdle for generations of engineers had always been on how to animate the blasted things. Cogs and gears were easier to repair and move than seamless stone; but at the same time, they had yet to find a mechanism that could automate golems without the rune of animation...

And while his dreams of golems fighting once more among the throng had been golden only a few years back. Now they were far away from any Zhuffbar. Far away from Runelord Zharek Goldtooth and his cohort of underlings.

And so they would have to start from scratch. At least they had the manual models to start with...

Interlude: A Skirmish in the Shadowed woods
Interlude: A Skirmish in the Shadowed woods
(The year 2303 IC, Great War against Chaos, Forest of Shadows)

You grumbled as you walked through the thick snowfall of the forest, the early morning sun blocked from the thick canopy above, while the sounds of a crow sounded off in the distance and a branch crunching beneath your boot, while the thick fog was barely letting you see more than a few feet in front of you. Your gun loaded and ready to fire should anything approach while at your side stood elder Josef and Gotrek, the three of you scouting ahead of the rest of the party while other groups of three did the same.

The Camp lacking its usual warmth especially with how things were between you and your pa. Though that would not stop you from scouting alongside the rest of the clan, and while he thought your place was with the rest of the clan you needed to be in the action alongside the throng to earn glory and honour for the clan. You would not shame your ancestors, especially by being a coward and waiting for the Dumal to come to you. Especially after so many holds had refused to answer the call.

A Cough from your side drew your attention to Gotrek your master and elder having noticed you drifting off. "Focus beardling, there will be plenty of time to think when we return to the camp but this is no place to drift off, especially in such dark times." He said sagely as his eyes scanned the area around you.

You nodded while you spoke. "Yes, Master." You said returning to the task at hand while Josef gave you a hard look. Shifting carefully you looked away from him, though it did not stop your mind from been restless. After what felt like hours of silence you could not keep quiet any longer. "Elder Josef, has there been any word on the Dumal host's?" You asked eagerly the hope of delivering vengeance against the urk burning within your blood.

Your Master let out a low laugh that sounds like he approved of your fervour though there was a tinge of sadness for some reason that you could not understand. While Elder you Josef seemed to fall into a foul mood. " You will learn beardling, that your taste for battle will dull in the years to come. Especially when your hearth is empty of friends with only memories to remind you of them and the satisfaction that you have delivered vengeance! To those that have harmed the clan and snuffed out far too many of our kin. Now focus, there will be a battle when we find them but your damned speaking and breathing is bound to alert them well before we see them." He Said Sharply before picking up his pace as the fog slowly cleared around you.

You looked down to your feet and continued to follow both of your elders master Gotrek giving you a slight pat on the back before continuing through the forest ahead. Letting out a sigh you continued to follow them the group falling into an uncomfortable silence as you went about looking for threats.

You glanced to the sun that now lay high in the sky as Josef and Gotrek lead the way back to the camp. But as you continued onwards the smell of rotting meat seemed to have invaded the area, grimacing you prepared your gun as the two elders grabbed their weapons.

Gotrek and another group of rangers met up just ahead as they slowly advanced while Josef took a position behind you. The eerily silence giving you a little chill though as you walked a little ahead nothing occurred.

Letting out a sigh as you lowered your barrel slightly when a hand grabbed you and pulled you to the ground. Your hand went to your ax in a panic though as you tried to draw your weapon it was of no use as you watched several arrows flew over you a moment later.

Glancing off to the side you saw Josef glaring at the fog, his focus on something distant. "Move!" He ordered you as he fired his gun into the fog before trading it in for his ax.

Nodding you stood up running towards the sound of gunfire while an arrow shattered across your mailed back stumbling you a little. Grunting you turned around as you spotted Gotrek and a number of the rangers around him killed by arrow's, only three of those that stood beside your elder alive and one in the last moments of life as you watched your clan's man choke on his blood.

Snarling you raised your gun to face those around you and found a group of Gor at your back many of them pointing bows at you. Firing your gun you killed one of their numbers, only to have to shield your face as they unleashed a rain of arrows upon you. Though before you could do something to them you watched as a grenade landed among the group killing many of them.

While another bunch of the beasts came bursting out of the fog charging you. Throwing your gun at their leader you stunned the beast long enough to draw your ax and planting it firmly in its gut as another one came at your side only to be killed by one of your kin. The fight that followed was quick and brutal as the Gor continued to strike at your group only falling silent for a moment.

As you looked around for more your felt Gotrek grab your arm, turning to face him you found an arrow stuck in his shoulder while his eyes inspected you. "Gotri take Josef back to the Throng and warn them of a Warband dwelling here." Your master said to you before he moved his hand to snap the arrow shaft, as he hissed at the pain before drawing two of his pistols as he stumbled a little to the side.

You glared at him. "I can still fight, we can warn the Throng together." You said heatedly glancing over to the group to only find Josef among the living, the elder on unsteady legs, an arrow having carved across his face.

Gotrek's normally jovial smile turned into a grimace as he Grit his teeth glanced to his leg the armour around their leaking blood at an alarming rate. "You will go to the throng! and tell them what is coming." He ordered his voice ringing with a sad finality of things. "Do not let your youth and skill deceive you Gotri. DO what you must and uphold your duty, my apprentice." He said before letting off a shot, his round flew into the distance. You stood there for a moment waring with yourself, on what to do. "Go!" Your master shouted as he limped towards the Gor letting out a battle cry as he shot another one of the beasts.

You watched him charge into the fog for what felt like an eternity before grabbing your elder and hoisting his arm over your shoulder while drawing one of your own pistol's, you walked away as the sounds of your master dragged the Gor away. The sound of him fighting growing distant before fading to nothing only a single shot ringing out as an end to your master.

***

You Jolted from your sleep, a thick fog had enveloped the valley while a few trees stood around you. "Shifts over lad, and it's no good for the Thane to be so tired." Glancing over to the side you found Josef standing there, his one eye, a look of understanding on his face.

Letting out a sigh you nodded as you glanced out into the eerie quiet valley only to have a tankard of ale shoved into your vision. Glancing to the delicious brew you nodded accepting the tankard. "How is the perimeter?" You asked trying to shake the empty feeling you felt.

Josef let out a bitter laugh as he stared at the embers of the fire. "As good as can be with our numbers I suppose, though most of them are young blood, they will learn." He said before glancing at you.

The two of you falling into a comfortable silence as you drank together once again. Enjoying the silence of one another's company as the memories of old friends and masters kept you company. While the Clan went about its business in patroling the new land with which you had found yourselves in.

You walked within the wooden gatehouse, the small platform enough for you to see down into the valley, but also the path behind you that leads to the valley and while the last few hundred meters were rather flat it did not change that there was little room to charge the gates. Though if that was a good thing only time would tell. Though you doubted that it would be without its benefits, while further away you watched as a group of Thunderers moved back to hold looking cold and tired, the long shifts no doubt something few were used to. Though that was more to do with the fact that the mountains could be rather cruel in the long hours of the night.

Even if you found the lack of Mhornalhune a little strange as it had not been seen for many years now something that you had failed to notice. Though why was something none of the clan wished to discuss as it was bound to appear at some stage. Letting out a sigh you wondered if what you were doing was correct.

A Powerful and old Voice pulled you from that line of thought though. ''So this is where you went.'' Glancing around you saw Alric standing their his coal-covered face staring at you. ''What has you out here, I know that Josef generally sticks around at nights like these.'' He said a hint of worry in there.

Letting out a sigh, you shrugged. ''He's inspecting some of the outer defences, thought you would have been down in the new mine after it opened up?'' You asked not wanting to dwell on why you were out looking past the gates.

Alric glanced at you before deciding against pushing the issue. ''I probably would have but Faragrim's out of it tonight had a bit too much ale again. So Logan ended up pulling me out but it's for the best needed a little bit of a break. So what's this I hear about you running from your aunt's home?'' He asked a knowing look in his eyes.

Stifling a groan you glared at him slightly though there was no heat. You let out a huff before turning away figuring that it was better to cut your losses before you let your thoughts out to one of the few elders and friends that you trusted knowing that it was bound to lead somewhere.

''Gotri! Don't turn your back on this I can help ya.'' Your friend shouted out no doubt hoping to both help you while also doing it in one of the most embarrassing ways possible. He meant well but his methods did need some work. At least they were improving much like the hold, now how did you escape this mess.

Diplomacy: Gotri +13

[x]A Speech to help keep the Clans spirits up:

A New Land may be daunting but your optimistic that things will turn around especially with all the new things that can be discovered. Though you will admit that the thought of being a little lost is daunting you are sure that there will be a way home. (Increases Hold Stability)

You Grumbled as you moved towards your home glaring at it, wishing things could have remained as peaceful as they had upon your arrival, sadly that seemed it was a fool's hope. Damned engineers have been no good grumblers stirring up problems though if it was only them then it would not be a problem.

Entering your house you slammed the door closed as you continued to grumble to yourself wondering where the elders got the right to question you on your choices, really it's not like you wanted the Ale to run out. Especially since you would suffer along with them. Though why they choose to bring it up before your speech you would never know. Damned near sent many of the clan into a riot right there. At least things would hopefully calm down but you doubted that a speech would work now with the clan worried about your ale stores.

Pouring yourself some ale you took a seat in front of your fire you wondered if there was a way around this. Only for a hard knock on the door to sound from the entrance. Glowering at the door you decided against answering as you needed a drink and the grumbling could wait. Especially since you were sure it was bound to give you a headache. Maybe you did need an advisor to help you deal with the elders just so you knew who to point at them.

Martial: Falstad Deadeye +17 (younger Dawi and skilled in ambush warfare and trainer (Combat Training is x6 and is an Average class hero))

[x]Prepare the defences:

The Valley in which the Hold will be built is small and so is its entrance which is both narrow and treacherous to reach if not in the valley. The Path leading to it narrow and long with many boulders that the Throng could use to slow a threat and more locations to act as perches for the Thunderers to rain death upon them. Still, preparations will be needed to ensure no threat gets in the valley and it will require a lot of work but you are sure that it will be worth it.

You walked beside Falstad his long red hair flapping in the wind as he stared down into the valley path below you. The two of you atop one of the many firing platforms that dotted the high mountain that slowly leads to the tiny Valley entrance. The entire entrance blocked off by a low wall only reaching three meters high while also stretching about twelve dawi abreast, it was not all that great as it lacked some of the things you would have liked for a defensive wall.

Thankfully that was the last line of defences as the path that you had found when you had inspected the valley was now filled with shooting platforms that would strike at any that would harm the hold. Though they would be safe from most retaliation you really would have liked to add a few more things. As the defence was greatly lacking for what you would consider in a proper hold, thankfully the valley would help till you got it to where it was needed.

Glancing to Falstad you shifted while also securing your gun across your back. "So how is it that you managed to get the Throng to do so much so quickly?" You asked pretty sure that both this and the mines had needed more work on construction than this.

Falstad Grinned mischievously the elder looking glad that you had asked. "Well, you see...".

[x]Have Them Assist in the mines:
All Dawi know how to mine and while many leave the profession to pursue their craft it is a vital skill, thankfully the Throng has little to do and that will just not do, especially since it has left them a little softer than usual. Something easy enough to solve especially if they use some of that free time to help harvest some extra ore.
(Doubles the harvesting rate of mines. Write in which mine's or just say all of them.)

You walked into the tunnel entrance as you followed Elder Borin into the depths of the mine, passing a few of the older Garazi as they hauled ore back to the hold, many of the clan within the new mines. The Stone pillars and smoothed path having made the trip far safer than it used to be. The Throng having been pushed far by Falstad. Shaking a little you could still not believe what he had done but it worked.

Especially as the clan now had a proper and safe mine to gather iron, which was a good thing with how things were going. At least some things went better than others. Still, as you were shown around the new mine you could not help but appreciate that it was done, still, you would much rather prefer watch duty along the path than down here, especially with how uncomfortably hot it was. Still, you endure even as the Elder grumbled about there been too few miners in the clan.

Letting out a sigh you continued to follow your elder inspecting the mine and while it was no work of art it would do. Now if only your elders were a slightly better company and more like Josef, things would be good then, At least you still had some good ale.

(Iron Mine has been built.)

Stewardship: +18 (Advisor Alrik)

[x] Expand the Mushroom Farm:

The growing hall within your hold is decent enough and while you are no farmers, it will be easy enough to expand the space used to grow the mushrooms easily. Though you are sure that any further improvements will have to be thought out carefully as while you have information your clan sadly lacks the knowledge to truly have the growing hall flourish.
60% chance of success
Cost: 3 Tools (Improves base production of food to 1 unit)

Glancing around the now larger hall you could not help but wonder if this was a good idea, then again the clan needed food and the mushrooms were great for eating. Though a little oily for your liking, still, they managed to keep the clan going alongside its dwindling food supply, barely keeping ahead of the issue, things were progressing smoothly and the drain nowhere near as bad as it could be.

You cringed a little as you looked back to the entrance of the hall. Yes, things were better than what they could be, especially since you knew that giant spiders most definitely did not taste like umgi chicken. Thankfully that had only happened one time and if you could help it never again. Mushrooms were far better in your opinion even if they lacked a bit of taste compared to your usual dishes. Though a little extra meat would go a long way to keeping everyone happy. Now if only you could do more than only make mushroom soup.

[x] Excavate and build a Metal Smith Hall:
Looking around the large Empty Cavern you could only spot a few well-built pillars having been carved while many others were rough and unformed but they still held the roof of what would be your clan's new Metalsmith hall. The hall requiring a great deal of designing and carving to make sure there would be plenty of space for your kin to work their craft and no fast attempt would do. Your clan were dedicated Metalsmiths and no half-rate hall would do for your clan.

Glancing over to Alrik you spotted him in the middle of discussions with his fellow builders many of them pointing around the future hall no doubt planing on what was needed. Turning away from them, you left to work aware that much would need to be built for the hall next year including all of the different equipment needed but at least it was progressing. Now, where were the stashes of ale as a few of the barrels had already gone missing from storage and were bound to be in a hole around here?

Intrigue: Josef One-eye: Intrigue Skill +17 (+15 To Scouting Rolls)

[x] Investigate the nearby mountain area:

The area of your new home has shown that it possibly holds more mysteries than you would have thought and while learning what is in the distant valley's around the hold they are not all that is shrouded in darkness. Your home is set within a relatively large range of mountains and it is sure to hold many secrets. The rangers will need to roam the entire mountain range and look it over carefully if the clan is to know all the dangers that lie in wait around your new home but also the possible treasure that awaits.

You stared at the moon for a time before focusing back on Josef, the elder having finally returned after a few months of investigation. Though the Grim look in his eye let you know that any chance of the hold been truly safe was unlikely. Letting out a sigh you spoke to him, at least a little happy that there was at least some protection for the valley. "What did you find?" You asked tiredly as you glanced away from him toward a fire roaring as you added some more wood to it.

Josef let out a huff as he took a seat near you. "Nothing that look's like it could threaten the hold but I can't tell you enough to be sure. Though no large gatherings that will change, especially once the damned things get a leader. Still their not too close by and we found some more abandoned homes and camps, not much else but there were signs of a patrol further off to the north. To organized to be the Umgi, told the young blood's to be careful. Though they're bound to stir up some kind of issue." He said to you shortly and then took a sip of Ale. "Found some more broken armour and weapons among the mountains. Some of the pieces were rusted we got some more armour, none of it useable at the moment. Still, some of it could be salvaged." You nodded at that before letting out a sigh.

Looking back at him a wary look in your eyes. "At least it's useful, but you did not mention the things that could threaten the hold." You grunted out as you sipped on some water. While a cold wind seemed to pass through the valley.

Josef let out a sigh as he started to explain what was found and while there was no large group of them it did not stop the slight worry that came with the knowledge.

What was found:

Resources:
-2 Broken units of armor= 3.5 Units worth of Iron ore
-3 Rusted units of weapons= 0.5 Units worth of Iron ore

Threats: (Blame that event roll of turn 2)
-Three Troll warrens filled with five-to-eight Stone trolls, two of which are easy to reach while the third is high in the valley in a large cave system.
-Two bands of roaming Blue Mountain orcs number between 150-500 Each of which patrol in groups of as many as thirty out of their caves.

Possible Investigate routes
-Patrol routes to the North. (Though they seem to only happen sparsely.)

[x]Hunt Animals further away from the hold:

The Clan are all trained engineers, sadly they are not farmers as you have learned, then again you never expected them to be. Thankfully the Rangers are adept hunters, but there are only so many game animals around the hold's immediate area. So sending them away to distant lands to gather the hold some food should help bolster the clan's stores for a time.

Your mouth watered at the sight of the animal carcasses that were brought into the hold, the lack of fresh meat had been something the clan had sorely needed. Thankfully it seemed to sate much of the clan's hunger and had bolstered your stores of food as many more of the carcasses were cured and preserved for the coming months with which you could eat alongside the mushrooms and gatherings of forage around you.

Glancing away from the delicious meat you found Grumdi among the group, your friend trying to hide in the shadows as the clan celebrated their return. Grinning you approached your friend from behind as he was on the verge of slipping away.

Crossing your arms across your chest you spoke up just loud enough to make him jump but also just draw attention to him. "Now Grumdi, where are you trying to get off to." You said drawing his attention to you a look of dawning horror in his eyes as he glanced to the group off to the side. While his shoulders seemed to slump slightly.

He let out a huff as he spoke in a deep voice that was uncommon for his age. "Damn ya Thorin why ya gotta go and do that. I just wanted to go and have a nice smoke before all this and here ya are ruining it all, can't ya let me get away just this once." He whined, your friend and junior looking put out as a group of Garazi charged towards him mobbing him with thanks.

Letting out a laugh you watched as he tried to escape unsuccessfully only to be freed by a young blushing Kvinn who looked to have barely matured sending your friend into an incoherent fit as he clammed up. You watched as the two of them talk awkwardly the Kvinn eventually leading the Garazi away from him.

Glaring at you he spoke quietly. "I will get ye back for this Thorin, I swear it." He said before walking though you could tell he was a little giddy. Letting out a snort you left him to his own devices knowing that you would talk on the morrow.

(2.5 Unit's of food hunted) (I hate uneven numbers and the food amount is unlikely to change for a long time so just giving you a little extra.)

Learning: Engineer Burlok +19 (Specialised in Steam Engines and Golems as well as Lifts. will improve research speed to these options. He does not leave the hold)

[x] How to farm Mushrooms:

To Grow something is easy you have found but to truly make something flourish requires a great deal of effort and time, or so you have discovered after the rather pathetic crop yields you have produced. Thankfully you have a few tomes around that can help guide the clan to getting it just right. Though finding out which method works the best will take time. (Progress 0/3)

You looked at the test patch warily, the thing looking more like a strange contraption with all the different tools around it as a group of engineers watched the thing carefully. Many of them looking bored out of their skulls as they tinkered with all kinds of things while watching the mushrooms grow slowly the patch in front of you responding best to the current set up.

Glancing over to Master Burlok the recluse looking rather put out that he could not work on something more advanced. Letting out a sigh you approached him wondering if there was something you could do for him. "Master Burlok, is there something I can do for you?" Asking kindly well aware there was likely little you could do.

He glanced at you before letting out a sigh. "Too late for that now lad you have me as an advisor and both my Cousin and Master Durin will have my hide if I don't do my best. Still, you have asked for something more exciting like Steam Engines, but no you had to ask for mushrooms. Dammit, I'm an engineer, not a bloody grower. Damned Umgi work if you ask me, still, I will do my best though it would help if the damned things were not so damned random. I swear this is not Dawi work." He grumbled as he continued to twist and turn something in his hand as his eyes kept glancing at all the tests. Backing slowly away from the Elder you wondered if the lack of proper engineering would affect the rest of the clan as it had your elder before dismissing the thought. That was preposterous as you were sure that it was only the elders who were worried. Still, you were going to have to sort the issue out, leaving the elder to his grumbling you figured there was something better to do.

[x] Old Tomes:
Old Scrolls and books were discovered among the treasures of the stinking troll cave and while you can not understand them they are bound to hold knowledge within and thanks to your basic understanding of the common tongue you are sure that with a fair bit of effort you can learn what is within them. You looked over the rough translation your limited knowledge had been an obstacle that you did not like, thankfully you had managed to do well enough and translate some of the texts. Still, it was not enough to understand what was written completely only that it was describing someplace in an umgi kingdom called Arnor or more specifically a place called Cardolan and some kind of issue their though what your clan had not managed to discover.

Though things looked good and chances were that you would get the full translation within two or so years. Though that would require some dedicated effort, thankfully it seemed the umgi in the area used some kind of variation of Albanese. Even if it was a little rough at least there was some kind of basis you could use. Now if only you could figure out more of this umgi kingdom that laid somewhere to your north.

[x] Spend Time with your Family Rolled: 89

You carried Garik atop your shoulder your youngest cousin enjoying the feeling of being taller than his brother for once. While a Toy wooden ax firmly gripped within his hand as he looked around for his mother. "Aunt Sif, where are you?" You shouted out into the house as you entered, the smell of roasted deer over an open flame greeting your nose.

"Gotri! Good of ya to come and visit, I swear you spend too much time outside in the open air, its no good for ya I say and what will your cousins think." She shouted out into her home while the sound of feet slapping across smooth stone greeted your ears only to be tackled in your side by your youngest cousin."

You let out a playful oof as you glanced down at him before grabbing him in your free arm and hoisting him over your shoulder you took them towards the kitchen. Looking through the door you found your aunt busy seasoning her ration of fresh meat and felt your belly growl. '' So where's Durim?" You asked noting his absence.

She Grimaced slightly as she looked away. ''He's left on a long-ranging, his group should be back in a few months.'' She said a little worry in her voice word of the threats around the hold having spread though the clan already.

Letting out a sigh, you nodded. ''He will be fine, even if there is danger he has more than proven himself. Especially with what we went through.'' You said firmly more than ready to believe that he would survive whatever he came across. Though you were sure that was a small comfort especially with how things still played out for the clan.

She nodded smiling at your cousins before turning to the deer. "Your right I suppose now, how about I tell some more stories of your time within Zhufbar.'' She said getting shouts of joy from your cousins much to your mortification. ''Though if that's not to your taste how about some marriage prospects I hear Josef has a niece that is unmarried.'' She said while glancing at you.

Letting out a groan, you knew that this was going to be one of those visits, at least there would be good food after the ordeal.

Your NOT! Supposed to complete this many tasks so quickly. Also, I gonna be introducing a new mechanic that will essentially allow you to choose what you're producing from the forge over a set amount of turns. (Mostly because the Tool mechanic is new and I gonna need to modify it if things are to unbalanced. Which is looking likely with how much you need to consume.) (Then again that will be sorted with the Metalsmith hall still something I will have to watch.)

Turn 4 - Discoveries

Event Roll: 97

You sat happily off to the side of your aunt and friends talking the night away. Many of them just celebrating a new year, as a large portion of your fresh meat was used. Though as you watched the clan below you could not help but smile as things seemed to be calm and quiet, the lack of battle having soothed many an elder.

Something you were still trying to get used to, the lack of Urk or Thragoki assaults having left you slightly agitated. Looking away from the lower residences you focused back on the small gathering inside only to find Faragrim standing, a tankard in his hands while looking a little flushed. Letting out a sigh you moved towards your friend and elder knowing he only drank like this for a reason. "Faragrim, save any ale for the others and I?" You asked while guiding the elder to a seat.

He seemed to be mostly fine as he smiled at you, he tried to look composed though you could see through the mask. "I saved a few, I think." He said while trying to think about what he had done.

You grunted and let the issue slide aware that it would achieve nothing without Alric at your side. "As long as there is some, so how is the work in the forge?" You asked while looking over to the stream, it's slight trickling heard over the sound of the clan below.

He was silent for a moment making you glance at him to find him drinking some more ale. Letting out a burp he continued. "Things have been good, especially having the heat of the forge around me again. Though I would rather be making armour again than these damned tools, stealing all my time they are." He grumbled taking a large gulp of his ale before continuing onwards. "We need em, but I feel the craving to mould the metal under my tools again. Even if it is for but a week but No!, more tools are needed. Damned things are no good, won't save us from a damned grobi never mind trolls." He Grumbled again falling into silence as he downed his ale and looked at the empty cup forlornly. He looked away from it towards the Barrel looking conflicted before pouring himself another tankard.

You looked away from him as you spoke. "It won't last too long my friend, just a few more years and you will be back to how it was." You said and then grimaced at your choice of words. Thankfully nothing came of it as you looked to him only to see him gulping down more ale. "Faragrim..." You stopped as you saw the ranger approaching, glancing at your friend and then at the ranger you sighed. "Faragrim, go and get Kaz and Grumdi. I may require them." You said leaving your friend behind hoping that Alric would control him.

Moving towards the ranger, you noted that he looked tired. He spoke tiredly while gulping down some water. "My Thane, Josef has returned and brings arms of the fallen with him." His voice is tired and worried.

You felt your throat constrict. "Rest, I will meet with him and find out what has happened." You said departing quickly as your two friends shouting for you to wait.

***

You ran out into the moon light the sight of torches in the distance, your dawi carried something between them. Reachin them in a short time, you found much to your relief and confusion a large number of ancient-looking armour much of it rusted while numerous rusted shields and az's were among them.

You relaxed slightly as you tried to control your breath your heart hammering in your chest looing around you saw Josef hauling some shields with him. Letting out a huff you moved to him calmly, the loss of your kin unlikely. Though you were going to have that damned beardling on grave shift on the peak by the end of the week. There was no need to relay a message like a damned umgi. At least it was only a scare you thought. "Josef!, where did you get all of this?" You asked looking over the assorted items a strange black great sword among them.

Josef glanced towards you and seemed to sag. "found the damn things in some abandoned outpost. The damn thing was old and looks to have been abandoned for thousands of years. Good thing our ancestors built it otherwise the damned thing would have crumbled by now." He said with a grunt as he lay down one of the many shields he was carrying.

You stared at him for a moment his words rolling through your mind. "You found a place of our ancestors?" You asked your composure slipping a little at possibly finding relics of the golden age.

Josef shook his head looking just as dejected. "Nay lad, the damn place was bare, looted I think by whoever slew the defenders. There was far more armour within and the shadows thick as if something once-powerful died there. We may return but there was little of worth there. Except for that strange blade here, definitely Elgi from the magic within the damned thing." He said while turning to one of the rangers to get a report.

Though before anything more could be said a strange horn ran out within the distance. While a ranger came running down from one of the paths along the mountains. "MY Thane!, Umgi approaching the hold." He shouted out startling the rangers.

Your legs carried you without a thought towards the gatehouse and there you found many Umgi. All of them garbed in green cloak's bows at their backs. Many of them looking rather happy to have found you.

The Umgi in the lead spoke up in Westron, sounding a little rough but you understood it well enough thanks to all the work on the tomes. "Greeting's Durin's Folk, we seek refuge within your halls. While we cleanse these lands of evil" He called out the umgi seeming cheerful enough though you could tell there was a wariness within him.

Events

Forge Hall production:
The Hold requires many things and the forge can only produce so much, having a set amount of needed supplies will allow the clan to see to its needs without issue. Even if you have to stop the clan from constructing things for a time.

[]How much do you want to be stored: Pretty much you guys letting me know how much you want in the hold and will allow me to shift production where it is needed without having to vote all the time. (Can be changed whenever you want.) (Also just to know what the most important is, put a 1 next to it and the least important item a 3. That way I have an order to follow if need be.)

Tools – Write in the amount you want to be stored at all times if possible
Weapons - Write in the amount you want to be stored at all times if possible
Armour - Write in the amount you want to be stored at all times if possible

Old Dwarf outpost

(Strange Black Elgi Blade)
(Ancient Dawi Armor and weapons)

9 Units of Dawi Armor (much of which can either be restored or melted for 2 Iron apiece)
12 Units of Dawi Weapons (11 of the units been unusable and can be smelted for 15 Iron Ore or kept for restoring which will take time)
[] What do you do with the old dawi armour and weapons found
-Keep them
-Smelt them

Ancient Tome's (Available for study next turn as they need some work to be preserved)

[]Dunedain Group:
A group of eighty umgi has come seeking refuge within your halls. What will you do? (they will assist with Intrigue and Martial actions while also hunting.) (The Elders will question sheltering them. -2 To hold Stability if they are taken in.) (Choose 1) (The Dunedain in most of which is that they will assist you in clearing out the trolls and orcs. Giving you a +15 to those options as well as gathering food for themselves with a chance of getting more food for the hold. )
-Give them Shelter
-Turn them Away

(Interlude coming up for this)

Faction/Group Discovered: Dunedain of the North (Current Leader Arassuil, Heir: Arathorn I)
Faction Location Discovered: Blue Mountain Dwarfs
Faction Location Discovered: Bree landers
Faction Location Discovered: Elves of the Grey havens
Faction Location Discovered: Hobbiton

60% chance of success
1 Turn

[]A Speech to help keep the Clans spirits up:
A New Land may be daunting but your optimistic that things will turn around especially with all the new things that can be discovered. Though you will admit that the thought of been a little lost is daunting you are sure that there will be away. (Increases Hold Stability)

60% chance of success
1 Turn

Martial:
With careful aim and deliberation will you strike at the enemies of the clan while also making sure that your kin will do all they can to be prepared.

2 Actions Available

[]Establish a training ground:

1 Turn

[]Clear out the strange grobi like creaturs:
Josef along with several rangers have found strange grobi like monsters roaming the mountains praying upon a number of umgi and with how they fight among one another, you along with the rest of the elders agree that they are a threat. Still, it is no small number of Grobi and it will take preparation to deal with them. Still, it can be done. (Progress 0/2)
50% chance of success Will use between 1-3 units worth of gunpowder for a skirmish. (Adding the Cannon will increase the chance of success by 10%) (Canon will use a quarter of a battles worth of ammo if added in)
1 Turn

[]Clear out a Troll warren:
While scouting out the distant valley's in the area Josef came across trolls and while they are large and rather smart they seem to be rather weak and slow compared to those the clan has faced in the past. Though a Troll is a Troll and they will have to be dealt with. (Progress 0/3)
40% chance of success Will use between 2-4 units worth of gunpowder for a skirmish. Gain 1-3 Units of food (Chance to find treasure) (Adding the Cannon will increase the chance of success by 20%)(Canon will use a quarter of a battles worth of ammo if added in)

1 Action Available, 1 Action Locked

Of Course, hunting them is difficult with the Hold being so far away and something is needed to store the carcasses of the animals so that they can be gathered by members of the clan.

1 Turn

The growing hall within your hold is decent enough and while you are no farmers, it will be easy enough to expand the space used to grow the mushrooms easily. 60% chance of success
Cost: 3 Tools (Improves base production of food to 1 unit)
1 Turn

2 Turns

A Dawi needs Ale and a Hold needs a lot of it to keep running and dawi from going all strange, Thankfully all dawi clans know how to produce Ale even if it is not the best, of course as Engineers you like yours a little stronger and know what you're doing. So building a Brewery should be easy enough. (note 1 Brew grain makes 2 Ale)
60% chance of success Cost: 4 Tools (Maintenance Cost of 2 Brew Grain)(Produces 4 Ale)
2 Turns

[x] Excavate and build a Metal Smith Hall:
The Clans roots are in those of working metal and making the day-to-day items that many a dawi and umgi would use, Your clan's skill at working metal is only paralleled by your fellow dawi and even some of them fall short of your standards.
[] Establish A Fine/Pure Silver Mine:
While Digging out a Forge Hall for the hold your dawi found a tunnel leading deeper into the earth that took them far. Though the journey was long you found a massive cavern filled with seems of fine Silver, something that only your Ancestral hold of Karag Agilwutraz was able to rival, and while you do not know if it is true within your new home.

60% chance of success Cost: 6 Tools (Increases base production of active mines by +1) (Reduces build times for mines.)

Intrigue:
The Rangers are a group you have worked with within the past and while they lack a leader at the moment they are more than capable of leading themselves and though their numbers are few you are sure that they will do their jobs admirably. []Hunt Animals further away from the hold:
The Clan are all trained engineers, sadly they are not farmers as you have learned, then again you never expected them to be. 1 Turn

(Will be locked after next go until threats are cleared)[] Investigate the caves in Distant valleys:

The area of your new home has shown that it possibly holds more mysteries than you would have thought and while learning what is in the distant valley's around the hold they are not all that is shrouded in darkness. Your home is set within a relatively large range of mountains and it is sure to hold many secrets. The rangers will need to roam the entire mountain range and look it over carefully if the clan is to know all the dangers that lie in wait around your new home but also the possible treasure that awaits.
50% chance of success (might Find Something of use).
1 Turn

[] Train the Rangers: Josef has taken command of the rangers and has requested that you give him leave so that he may train the rangers in the art's of their profession and while they have seen much, Josef is adamant that they will need harsh training so that they will not perish on the challenges to come. (Slowly Improves your advisor's skill)
60% chance of success

[] Pick off a few Grobi like beasts:
The Throng will have to deal with them, though their task will be far easier if the rangers are sent to pick off some of them, while slowly whittling them down and sabotaging what they can and while they live within the caves. This will be far from the first time they have done so to an urk. (Will reduce the cost of the Martial action)
60% chance of success
1 Turn

[] Try and kill a Troll or two:
Trolls are a nasty monster, this you know well and so do many of your kin, thankfully your kin are more than adept at dealing with such a foe. Especially one who seems so slow and weak and while they only come out at night it should be easy enough to kill one or two of them. Which should also, make it far easier to eliminate them. (Will reduce the cost of the Martial action)

(Progress 0/8)
60% chance of success
1 Turn

[]Better Lifts:

Improvement Options (1 Action Available but you can use the other actions to improve to if you want)

[]Work on your Statesmanship:

There is much to learn when dealing with dawi and umgi lord's but you can learn even if you find it rather dull and boring. (Diplomacy skill progresses) (Progress to next level is 340/1500)

[]Learn Battlefield strategies:
War never changes, set yourself to learn new strategies and techniques to lead the Throng to victory. (Martial Skill progresses)

[]Learn ways of running a hold and building:
A hold is not built in a day and it is forever expanding and growing and a Thane must be knowledgeable in its matters if he is to see his home Thrive. (Stewardship Skill progresses)

[]Practice been a sneaky Dawi:
To be unseen by the enemy requires great skill and patience and to hunt an enemy even more so, thankfully you are decent enough at it but you know you can be better. (Intrigue skill progresses)

[] Engineering Lessons:
Your clan is one of Engineers and while you admit that you are a slow learner, you do know that you learn well under someone and your training was far from complete in some areas, thankfully you have time to improve yourself. (Learning skill progresses)

[] Weapons Practice:
To Learn a Weapon takes time and that is something a dawi has ample time to take advantage of. Though it takes dedication to use a weapon you also know that a battlefield is a chaotic place and that anything can happen and training for it will prepare you. (Write in the weapon you wish to learn)

3-hour Moratorium
If you're wondering what that black blade is then it's Anguirel, though how it got to the dwarf outpost is something that can be discovered in the tome's that were also found. Since as far as I am aware there was no mention of it after the fall of Gondolin. (So I just gonna make a story for it. Also, I rather think it will make things interesting.
looks like you found some friends.
