Ride the Lightning (Worm / DC Comics Cross Over)

Given the existence of independent heroes Earth Bet has clearly different laws on vigilantism than our world. I've seen different fanfics use different premises on exactly what those differences are though.

Pretty much this. Protectorate Capes are empowered law enforcement officers with shared jurisdiction over Capes (shared and under the oversight of the PRT).

Independent Capes can choose to affiliate (like New Wave) where by they receive training, gain some insurance coverage, and agree to follow certain protocols.

On the other hand you have the true vigilantes (like Shadow Stalker was). They are tolerated as long as they don't prove to be more trouble than they are worth. Laws against outing a Cape protect them, but they are still pressured to join out right or at least affiliate with the government groups.

Still, if you do good work, hang around to give the authorities a report, and are willing to show up and testify in court, you can get along well as an independent vigilante.

So, in short, Taylor tries to help, ends up not doing anything properly.

Insert comment about learning to walk before you run.

Follow with wry observation that we are trying to apply previous comment (re:walk/run) to someone who literally gets things done by running fast.

For real though, intended road bump. She will get better.

i will probably make one this afternoon but here are some pics from the internet of potential costumes

I think the first looks the best. The second is too minimalist, the third is too flashy, but the first is just right. Nice coloring, looks functional. Has both minor decorative while not overdoing it.

The irony of a Flash costume being too flashy...

Mostly on my thoughts about how Taylor thinks. She is a withdrawn person for the most part, although she seems a bit better here. So I can't really see her going for the super-bright Flash costume. The first works pretty well for her. It's not totally dark, but the colors are darkish without being black.

Technically, number three isn't a Flash Costume. It's Jesse Quick as Liberty Bell. I have to agree though, I like number one. Trajectory from CW's Flash best of the lot. Though she's actually more like Bart Allen's Impulse/Kid Flash right now. Barry only got to keep the things he read at super speed for about an hour or so. Bart was the first Speedster I can remember that actually retained EVERYTHING he read at super speed. Still, great story so far. Glad I found it.

So in other words, having completely failed on all three points on her first outing, Taylor is going to be shocked that police dislike her.

Having just watched the last two episodes of The Flash I was a little miffed at her costume. It is pretty close to what we ended up going with. Red jacket (with flash emblem), non-skin tight pants (The Speed Force LAUGHS at your concepts of aerodynamics), boots, and goggles. Also including pockets. Taylor is a practical girl and could never be one of those heroes who manage without pockets.

  • Number of countries prostitution is Illegal: 109
  • Number of countries prostitution is restricted: 11
  • Number of countries prostitution is Legal: 77
  • Number of countries with No laws for prostitution: 5
I wonder what my country counts as. Selling sex is legal but buying it is illegal. Meaning that the prostitutes are 'safe' but the johns are breaking the law.

I don't really know why being a pimp is a crime ?
It's pretty illegal.

I have two suspects, one male, one female, who have been duct taped inside of a car.
Soooo, she tried to arrest the prostitute?

Well, it's official, Taylor is a jerk.

I can't sympathize with people who mess with prostitutes, I don't think it's a crime superheros should be messing with.

I mean, Pimps are generally terrible people, take them down all you want, but messing with a prostitute is particularly low.

Something that I am hoping for Taylor to learn is nuance. With her power in this story she has the capability to help ALOT of people in ways that go beyond stopping muggings or pantsing Lung. In order to get her to that place I need her first learn the law, and then learn where the law is wrong.

just got home so did this

based it ontaylors discription, skinny girl, with long brown curles and a slightly too wide mouth

THIS IS AWESOME! If the top was just a little looser, had a couple of pockets and a flash emblem, it would be exactly what I'm going for.

Also, first bit of fan art! My phone has a new lock screen.

Well, that's one way of putting the school drama on a bus and bidding it a not-so-fond farewell. I don't think I've ever seen it handled like that before. Usually the school gets destroyed, Taylor runs away, or something else equally extreme.

Yeah, the more I thought about writing school scenes, the more ill I became. When they are done well I actually enjoy them. I don't think I would do it well.

We will get a few by virtue of her having to go in on Wednesday to opt out. She might also end up back there in costume at some point, but for the most part I was just ready to not have her in that environment.

Police Explorers, huh? Well, it may not be a forensic scientist, but its a wonderful start. Also, great way to figure out what she did wrong, and learning how to fix it.
