No you didn't.

Going to tell you this right now, you haven't lost shit.

It's going to take a while to get back home because blind warp jumps are chaotic in the best of cases (And worse when you're on the edge of the Shrouded Regions), but you'll be back soon enough.

Isn't it good that you set all those balls in motion back home before you left? Why, you should be arriving right around the time you're needed again, and you're up to Common Class!
Depends on the Favor of the Warp before they decided they had enough fun dicking with us then

At least we didn't start a war and then leave.

Hey we did get something though:

What Mark of armor do the Templar normally use?

We do need a suit for our next Aspirant.

Mark VII.

More importantly, you've got some extra Gene Seed if you want to recruit some dudes for your Warband too.

This was an option opened up in this route, that you'd have a few exchanges with a Templar in melee, and assuming you killed him fast enough, you'd have taken his body and wargear. You just happened to wreck him in the first hit because loldice. Chaos Lord, you wouldn't care, March of the Battallion, Valioth would have claimed such things for his own use.

We do need a suit for our next Aspirant.
that is true.
Costs of aspirants:
Astartes Suit = 10,000 wealth
Ceramics & drugs in food for bone density and proper growth = 1,200 wealth
Astartes weapons (non power, standard grade) = ~500 wealth per weapon (need multiple, at min 1 melee and 1 ranged weapon).
About 3x the cost for power weapon, so 2 power weapons would be ~3000 wealth

The suit is the biggest expense and we just snagged one. although it would need to be refitted for a fem marine.

Details! The phrase holds true! I dunno where the phrase came from, but it holds true! This was a success for us personally on every level. Now we just need to survive this series of warp jumps!
I agree, I was trying to be a funny guy

Who's the GM here?

I'm telling you as the omniscient writer of the story, that I'm not going to basically shit on all of the development you've already had. You're just going on a bit of an adventure before you get back home, to provide a timeskip so that you get back right when you have an actual Civilized World under your aegis, and the ability to work on your own.

These things would have happened no matter what route was picked.

++GET YOUR HEAD DOWN!++ Cobalt's voice echoes through your own company's voxlink, and not one to ignore such requests, you comply--as the back wall of the segment you were trapped in exploded, multiple macrocannon hits overcoming the external armor of the Ramiles--revealing one of the freighters at your back.

Oh, and an open guncutter, with Lilith spooling up the tailgun.

"HI EVERYONE!" She chirps, bracing herself as she fills the corridor with a hail of autocannon fire--enough that even the mighty Black Templars had to get their heads down or die like dogs. "Come on Ma'am!"
Did.... did we just re-enact the Morpheus rescue scene? With us as Morpheus? Does that mean Lilith is The One?

Sweet. Loot tally:
1 Retrofitted freighter
1 Guncutter
1 Suit of Mark VII Power Armour
1 Undamaged Geneseed
+ Whatever gear and minions came with the ship and how much loot Cobalt and Lilith were able to grab.

Fucking Score!

Not Intentionally

The mind works in mysterious ways.

Hmm. On the upside, we seem to have acquired another set of Power Armor (heavily used). And those are expensive.

On the downside, well, we're going on a little trip... Hopefully we'll find something awesome on the way back home.

Hey, I know we got -5000 favor for running, and we started this with 2700, but we were also all set to get an extra 2000 for being in the command group. Not sure if we get to keep it, but I hope so.

So...are we at -2300 or -300?

This reminds me of an idea I had for when we start conquering the rest of our planet.

We should have Cobalt attach a lasgun to out left forearm. Hooked to our suits reactor and coolant system, it would be a side arm with unlimited ammo. Great for dealing with large numbers of squishies. Saves wasting bolt ammo that's actually valuable.

Oh, and one for Lilith too.

QM said that the trip is an excuse to time skip basic development. we are going to come back to find that the demense finished uplifting to standard age.

Makes sense since we left behind mara with a force armed with and able to pruduce laz weapons and flakweave armor, we set up a self expanding system of roads via training road builders who can train more roadbuilders, we did a jumpstart package for uplift, and our heretek allies are experts in divining the future so they might have sent someone there to make sure our army builds up properly as a nice gift for us when we return.

That is a remarkably good idea, like a storm bolter, but with functionally infinite ammo. And the power armor might not be too shot up, depends on if they thought their Battle Brother was injured or if they knew he was dead.
