Renegade Chapter Master Quest (WH40k Quest)

@Oshha are their any Navigator houses in the sector? Other wise we will be in a bit of trouble when it comes down to steering our ship through the warp.
To the best of your knowledge, any navigator in good standing with the Imperium left when it did. To reach somewhere, you are forced to either have your Librarians to perform piloted jumps or make multiple calculated jumps.

So we can't make any really long ranged transits outside of the navigators who choose to stay with the chapter and what's left of the battlefleet.

You can use your Librarians since Space Marine Librarians are able to ape the roles of Navigators and Astropaths.
They can and also are generally better at it than a bog standard astropath given their mental fortitude. However when it comes to the navigator role they aren't as effective as a navigator with their third eye in the warp.

Unless you have a better idea, that's all we're gonna be stuck with so we better get ready to start using more Librarians than we're used to

True, but they are good enough for getting about a single sector.

Short of trying to persuade our navigators and those of the Battlefleet form their own house? No not really and any of the less reputable houses I wouldn't trust worth a damn their is a reason why they have their dark rep.

Can just seize navigators from other ships when we start to raid the Imperium

To confirm, did the Chapter Fleet not have any navigators?

We kinda have too. Otherwise any ship not carrying our librarian will be crippled on strategic level.

It did, but the Storm Avengers choose to avoid picking a fight with the Imperium by letting them leave peacefully. Since then, you have been using Librarians in their place.
Wait so how did the battlefleet odin and asgardia move their ships? Bog standard Astropaths don't have the mental fortitude to navigate the warp.

Multiple calculated jumps like most civilian traffic. Navigators aren't required for warp travel, just the speedy long distance piloted jumps.

Still, it's a problem we'll want to solve if we can figure out a way. Neither we nor the battlefleets are civilians. Maybe we can attempt some surreptitious conctact with a Navigator House and see if we could convince them to supply us?

So more insanely dangerous then rather than out right death then given they are only making short jaunts into the warp. Assuming the currents don't change that is and ships get swept off course since with no navigator or librarian onboard they will get lost otherwise.

No, they are making the short warp jumps done by calculations in realspace that are impractical for interstellar travel and are too short to be swept off-course because the ship exits the warp before the currents begin to change. I'm not sure how to say this, but can you please educate yourself about what is being discussed before making blatantly wrong statements?

Nah, civilian merchant ships usually don't have a navigator and make short warp jumps with computers all the time. It just takes them a lot longer to travel anywhere than normal.

Although, with that said, I think the Imperium and 40K in general still has one of the faster forms of FTL in fiction. Like, I'm pretty sure it's not unusual for more important and advanced ships like Space Marine vessels to travel from sector to sector in only a few weeks assuming no major Warp fuckery. Even with computer-calculated Warp jumps I think that would put 40K at or slightly above the speed of Star Trek FTL where ships can usually only travel a dozenish light years in a day or Mass Effect FTL when ships aren't using Mass Relays.

No, they are making the short warp jumps done by calculations in realspace that are impractical for interstellar travel and are too short to be swept off-course because the ship exits the warp before the currents begin to change. Fair played a game of RT were GM went high intensity so was going off my memories of that didn't mean to cause offence.

hmm makes me wonder if we get lucky we could maybe find a hulk, wreck, ruin or maybe even trade for one that contains a void abacus since we could actually plot accurate void jumps four or five times longer than normal without a Navigator's aid. That could actually be a god send in this situation though actually finding one would be damned hard.

The only other method I could think of would be what the Leaguers of Vortann use but that would make the techpriest fight us.

Fair enough.

Leagues of Votann don't exist in this quest. The closest thing is going to be abhumans known as Squats and I doubt they will be prominent at all.

If the enemy fleet is so restricted to short term jumps then presumably we could lure them into an ambush or use our superior mobility in some other fashion. I shall leave it to the Master of the Fleet to think of something

people are forgetting that the sector used to have like 100 subsectors and we are down to 6? cause thats why the imperium threw in the towel and abandoned us and the quest started on easy mode thanks to good rolls for our two main enemys in the chaos and ork getting distracted with a mutual fight.
