It is the dawn of the 41st Millennium and you have been abandoned by the Imperium of Man. More precisely, the Asgardia Sector has been officially declared lost by the High Lords of Terra and written off by the Adeptus Administratum. Having gone from a hundred sub-sectors to a mere six still in Imperial hands, the Asgardia Sector has been deemed indefensible and unworthy of continued Imperial attention given its inevitable doom.
All loyal Imperial forces have been ordered to withdraw from the Asgardia Sector so they may continue to serve the Imperium and carry out the Emperor's Will. That includes your chapter of space marines, the Storm Avengers. And yet you cannot follow those orders.
Your homeworld is the civilised world of Midgardia in the Thor Sub-Sector of the Asgardia Sector. The protection of the Asgardia Sector is one of your chapter's primary duties, something it has done for the entirety of its existence. Your orders from the Adeptus Administratum require you to abandon your homeworld, to give up your duties.
And so you found yourself caught between two unthinkables. Do you court heresy and treason by disregarding your orders? Or do you abandon your homeworld and sacred duty. The choice is a heavy one, but in the end, there is only one thing you can do.
The uncaring High Lords and the bloated Adeptus Administratum are responsible for putting you in this position. A festering bureaucracy and a corrupt, failing empire that cares not for the people it is supposed to be protecting. That is not the Emperor's Will and whatever Imperium was forged by the God-Emperor during the Great Crusade, what exists today is not it. No, it is a mockery of true Imperium, a chain around humanity's neck.
The people of the Asgardia Sector are loyal and faithful to the God-Emperor and they are under your protection. To just abandon them is a betrayal by those ruling over a corrupt and perverted Imperium and one you shall not partake in. You are an Angel of Death and you answer to the Primarch and the God-Emperor not the High Lords of Terra.
Many will call you a heretic and a traitor for your choice, but you make the decision to do what is necessary with a heavy yet resolute heart. Let them call you what they will, you have your holy duty to discharge.

When were the Storm Avengers founded? Choose one.
[ ]
Fourth Founding. The Storm Avengers were founded following the War of the Beast by Maximus Thane, the then Lord Commander. One of the older chapters, the Storm Avengers have protected the Asgardia Sector for almost eight millenia.
[ ]
Thirteen Founding. Founded during the mysterious and enigmatic Thirteen Founding, little of the Storm Avengers' origins are known both to the chapter itself and the Imperium at large.
[ ]
Twenty Third Founding. A relatively recent Founding, the Storm Avengers have only protected the Asgardia Sector for around two millennia before the Imperium abandoned them and their charge.
Unfortunately, the near-loss of the Asgardia Sector has left your chapter depleted. The Storm Avengers could be worse off, but as things are, they are lacking some critical specialist expertise amongst your surviving brothers.
What expertise do the Storm Avengers have a shortage of? Choose one.
[ ]
Apothecaries. Your chapter lacks experienced Apothecaries, forcing you to rely upon self-trained and inexperienced rookies to tend to your wounded and collect the geneseed of the dead.
[ ]
Chaplains. Your chapter is lacking Chaplains despite its continued faithfulness to the God-Emperor. You have no doubts that you and your brothers will stay in His Light, but plenty of those who pledged themselves to Chaos started out thinking the same.
[ ]
Librarians. Your chapter currently has no Liberians amongst its number, making any psyker abilities amongst initiates a notable concern in the future.
[ ]
Techmarines. Your chapter lacks Techmarines, forcing you to make do with subpar maintenance unless you are willing to go to one of the local Forge Worlds.
[ ]
Veterans. Your chapter lacks a 1st Company as all of your space marines are either in positions of leadership or too inexperienced to count as veterans.
It isn't just experienced battle-brothers that the Storm Avengers have a shortage of. The recent fighting has left your armouries short on reserves and spares, especially in some specific areas. Something you hope to change, but with the Imperium of Man pulling out of the Asgardia Sector, you will no longer have access to the usual resupply methods. One way or another, you'll have to adapt to the new circumstances that you find yourself in.
What equipment do the Storm Avengers have a shortage of? Choose two.
[ ]
Terminator Armour. Your armouries lack any suits of Tactical Dreadnought Armour or as it is more commonly known, Terminator Armour. This will limit your tactical options in the future such as boarding actions.
[ ]
Power Weapons. While you still have chainswords, combat knives and a few relics, your armoury is devoid of any standard power weapons, hindering the melee effectiveness of your space marines.
[ ]
Plasma Weapons. Plasma weapons are a powerful if dangerous addition to your arsenal or they would be if you had any within your armouries.
[ ]
Flamers & Meltas. There are no melta or flamer weapons within your armouries, limiting your ability to take out enemy vehicles or hordes.
[ ]
Dreadnoughts. You have no Dreadnought chassis in reserve and if you have any grievously injured space marines, you won't be able to let them fight on as Dreadnoughts.
[ ]
Rhinos & Razorbacks. Your chapter lacks any standard APCs, forcing your space marines to either fight on foot or seek unconventional means of transportation.
[ ]
Predators. Your chapter lacks tanks thanks to the lack of functional Predator Battle Tanks, something that will sharply limit your ability to deploy armoured elements.
[ ]
Land Raiders. While most chapters only have a few Land Raiders, your chapter has none at all. The lack of these valued and deadly war machines will be felt.
[ ]
Thunderhawks. In a painful blow, your chapter has no Thunderhawk Gunships in its hangars. Your space marines will be forced to use DropPods for combat insertions and alternative transportation when they need to get during peaceful situations.

Inspired by this
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Renegade_Space_Marine_Chapter_Creation_Table, you get to play as a space marine chapter master who has left the Imperium without falling to Chaos. As you should be able to tell, the Imperium has written off your home sector as no longer worth defending and you have ignored your orders for reassignment.
Now you'll have to try and protect the sector without support from the wider Imperium whilst still fighting off old threats. While inspired by quests like
Death or Glory &
From the Brink, I'm not going as mechanically heavy as those quests because I don't want too much workload from this quest. Also it will be space marine-oriented so even if you do end up as the de facto sector lord, actually running the sector will be handled off-screen.
Beyond that, your character and chapter are mostly pre-built with the first two votes determining some details of the latter, which will influence the former. As you can tell, this vote has you picking how old or young your chapter is in addition to what shortages it starts off with. The next update will be covering your starting advantages, disadvantages and relationship with other factions.
One final thing, this quest will be hard mode and some choices will have unstated effects that you won't find out until you take them.
Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.
