I do hope it's due to the votes/consequences of said votes/Gendo and not my writing skills!

Oh no, it's absolutely because of the votes and their consequences, and definitely not because of your writing skills. The skills are great. The decision-making process of quest so-far... it tends to swing between 5d chess and "literally why would you do that". Oh, and also Gendo, but that should be a given. This isn't "Nobody Dies" or something like that after all.

I'm not sure if it would work. By the description of the angel heat, it could evaporate the water before it began to cool down.
Any thermal energy absorbed by the water isn't being absorbed by the ground, air or city—and water has an exceptional specific heat.

The answer is almost universally "It sounded like a good idea at the time".

[X] Operation Frozen Shroud
-[X] Focus on protecting Shinji from further harm. Focus on defense.
-[X] Shinji: Continue providing fire support for Asuka for just a little longer, Shinji.
-[X] Asuka: Continue fighting at close range. Keep the Angel from advancing any further.

Asuka continues her assault, the D-type armor makes this a necessity to keep the Angel from advancing any further (an absolute must for our ranged units to have any chance) Shinji continues his fire support for Asuka, the only difference in plans is for Rei to focus on defense for Shinji, my idea is have Asuka as the point of our offensive, Shinji will fire support for her and Rei will cover him in turn, ideally this will provide enough hitting power to finish the Angel off, while insuring that our Units don't take anymore damage from any ranged attacks it attempts to fire at them.

Anyway as far as I can see we have three choices here, we have this plan, which (hopefully) combines some measure of offensive/defense hitting power, melons plan that is the same but with having Rei focusing on keeping the Angels attention away from the other Units, which I am a little uncertain on, having Rei focus on defense seems more certain to deflect any counter attack the Angel makes ,then trying to keep the Angels attention focused on her, not sure if it is possible for just her to accomplish it.

Or a third plan that could go all the way and focus on both Rei and Shinji doing the same thing to divert the Angels attention away from the other units, I am not sure on it yet, could work, but at the same time there is a good chance of both of them being burned even more from playing this inverted game of keep away, hmm any thoughts?

Only almost?

Asuka stays in melee, this is obvious. Now when the angel is diffused, its AT field may be weaker.
Shinji has to grow a pair, and continue fighting (another reason (even if it's minor) is to avoid further rifts between him and Asuka)
An important question is how targeting systems of Eva can compensate lower Synch Ratio? Also, how his pain will compromise his targeting ability?
Because Shinji may not be able to shot with enough accuracy. And if he can't hit the angel, with lower Synch, he may be a better bait than Rei, so they switch weapons. He is less mobile, and he will hurt less. Yes, this is asshole move, but we have to consider it.
On the other hand, I assume that the positron rifle has some form of an energy field/wave around particles and we can treat a swarm of infinitely smaller triangles like a wall.

My decision-making process tends to swing wildly from "okay this is what we need to do with Rei and the kids according to the seventy-six part plan" in peaceful turns to "oh god an Angel kill it with fire what do you mean it's made of fire" in combat turns :V

[X] Plan: Retreat is (Not) an Option

If it's not dead by next turn, maybe swap out Shinji and Rei's weapons; I think if Shinji takes another hit his effectiveness with the rifle will be below Rei's.

I didn't think of the lower sync rate problem, I guess it would depend on what his synch rate was at and how much it has been lowered (lowering it should have eliminated the pain factor) but Shinji has always had a high synch rate, and the bulk of his training/combat experience has been with ranged weapons, he is essentiality the sharpshooter of the team, so I feel like he can pull it off.

Also I think it is a very bad idea to have them switch weapons, Rei's arm injury makes using the MK-20 very risky to say the least, her probing shot coming far to close for comfort to shooting Asuka in the back, and fighting through the difficulties to use said weapon is far easier said then done with faced with such a handicap, I do not want any misses/shots wide or blue on blue action to occur when we can least afford it.

[X] Plan: Retreat is (Not) an Option

Both plans are similar (differences are so tiny, that's they are up to QM interpretations), but I think we have to create more openings for Asuka. If she is not able to attack we're cooked. Sorry Shinji, you will have to survive with only partial protection.

Uriel VI: Allegro
[X] Plan: Retreat is (Not) an Option
-[X] Rei: Focus on drawing the Angel's attention away from Asuka (and Shinji).
-[X] Shinji: Continue providing fire support for Asuka for just a little longer, Shinji.
-[X] Asuka: Continue fighting at close range. Keep the Angel from advancing any further.

Shinji makes a vague noise of assent and begins charging up a shot. He sounds tired. Asuka tells him to suck it up.

Rei springs into action and as quickly as she is able (which isn't very quickly, really), fires another shot at the Angel's body. She waves her good arm and runs to another spot further away from Shinji and Asuka and begins setting up to fire again, trying to get the Angel's attention.

Asuka slashes at the Angel with the Glaive, creating a broad trail of green mist across the Angel's face. Asuka wants to know if they're even really hurting it as she takes another faceful of molten Angel. A warning alarm starts blaring on Aoba's console. A white fog begins leaking from the back of Asuka's D-type equipment. Two of the coolant lines have been severed. Well, that's just great, Asuka says. Can someone hurry up and tell her how to kill this stupid thing already? Behind Asuka's obvious bravado you detect clear panic. Hyuga says the temperature inside Unit-02 is starting to rise.

You turn to Ritsuko. She shakes her head and takes another drag, punching away at her computer with a look of frustration. The text on the screen scrolls so quickly you're not even sure how much of it Ritsuko can read.

The Angel is about to assault the poor girl again before Rei puts another bullet in it. It shifts its assault to Rei, who throws up her AT-Field…and gets impaled by some of the Angel that passes through it in response. Rei shrieks in pain as the glowing points of the Angel melt through Unit-00's armor, and she begins ripping out the projectiles in a panic. Ibuki says you should lower Rei's sync ratio. Ritsuko overrides her and says no. Rei requested they not. Ritsuko is going to honor that request.

Asuka and you swear in unison. The Angel gets another taste of Shinji's Positron Rifle. It attempts to ram into Asuka in response, but Asuka's AT-Field continues to keep it from getting past her and towards the city. Her feet make long trails in the molten pavement, but Asuka pushes the Angel back into its place. Asuka says it's not getting past her. In the process of being pushed back, the Angel enters the third dimension, becoming an intricate lattice of pyramids called a tetrix. It starts to rotate, making it somewhat difficult to determine the actual size and shape of the Angel from moment to moment.

Rei shoots the Angel again, having managed to remove the burning thorns in her ruined armor and compose herself. One of the pyramidal shapes composing the Angel near its top ruptures in a cascade of green gore. Something beeps on Ritsuko's computer. Ritsuko says you've got a Core. One tiny pyramid seemingly randomly placed within the Angel is highlighted with a "Target" marker on the display in front of you. It doesn't look any different than the rest of the Angel's body. The Angel starts to rotate more erratically, making it difficult to track the target with the naked eye alone. Ritsuko says the Angel's body is about to collapse into the fourth dimension, which would likely make parts of its body inaccessible and its movements much harder to predict.

You ask Shinji how he's holding up. Shinji says he's…managing. The only way you're going to hit the Core is by using the MAGI to target it, and the Positron Rifle, being integrated into the system, is the perfect fit for the job, provided the wielder stands still long enough to aim. He's going to have to be the one to finish it off. Asuka makes a sound of clear dismay at her kill getting handed over to Shinji.

MOVEMENT V
~Vivace~

Shinji is going to attempt to shoot the Angel's Core. What will the girls do?

Asuka
[ ] Attempt to once again bring the Angel to the ground. This would potentially hinder its rotation, speeding up the targeting process, but is risky considering the state the D-Type equipment is in.
[ ] Do not adjust current strategy; Asuka's job is to simply create a barrier between the Angel and Tokyo-3. Hold ground and hope for the best.

Rei
[ ] Continue harassing the Angel with shots. Do her best to hit the Core as well (with the caveat that her odds of hitting it are much lower).
[ ] Place herself between Shinji and the Angel and prevent any stray shots from hitting him while he's trying to aim. Prepare herself for fiery punishment.

Shinji has 3 shots remaining.

Asuka slashes at the Angel with the Glaive, creating a broad trail of green mist across the Angel's face. Asuka wants to know if they're even really hurting it as she takes another faceful of molten Angel.
So would we.

Remind me, Asuka, who was just bitching that they wanted to know how to kill the Angel?
I mean, aside from me.

[X] Plan D(fence)
-[X] Asuka: Do not adjust current strategy; Asuka's job is to simply create a barrier between the Angel and Tokyo-3. Hold ground and hope for the best.
-[X] Rei: Continue harassing the Angel with shots. Do her best to hit the Core as well (with the caveat that her odds of hitting it are much lower).
-[X] Shinji: Good luck
Let's not risk the girls any more than we have to. With Shinji and Rei firing at the identified core, hopefully this will be over soon.

Hm. @Sutekh how's Unit-00 holding up physically?

If it can take the punishment, I think we might need to ask Rei to tank for Shinji, because his odds of hitting this shot are looking dubious enough already and if he misses it we're basically just fucked.

Hm. @Sutekh how's Unit-00 holding up physically?
Extensive damage to the front armor and burns to the chest area and hands. Won't explode or keel over from taking another hit but it's not in top condition. Movement is somewhat impaired by the amount of pain Rei is in. Any further damage to Unit-00 will be excruciatingly painful, but with luck, not fatal.

I'd rather the extra shots on target to hopefully try and kill the Angel before it can attack again. I'm somewhat open to wrestling it to the ground, but I'm not sure if that'd make the job of shooting the core harder or not.

[X] Plan D(fence)

Shit. We probably can't even try to make her retreat because of the D type slowing her down, and we still need to keep the angel in place. I'm really scared for Asuka right now. Hopefully the next turn will be the last, because otherwise...

[X] Plan D(fence)

Well, we have some progress. Time is running out.
Asuka makes a sound of clear dismay at her kill getting handed over to Shinji.
It happens sometimes Asuka, suck it up.

Sorry girls, but you have to take the heat (pun not intended). If we will kill it quickly you will not be exposed much longer, so we should avoid Roasted/Boiled Pilots Special.
If it takes too long, the angel will ascend beyond third dimension and we have Big Bang anyway.

I think it's obvious, but just in case. Rei should be careful not to block the Shinji's line of fire

In this situation I do believe the best defense is a good offense (given the Angels combat capabilities) the sooner it is dead the sooner our pilots are safe, so with that in mind have Asuka on the offensive here, Asuka is already in the firestorm (such as it is) so either way I do believe she is going to be taking damage the longer she is in there, and acting as the wall against the ball of fire is only going to insure additional damage is dealt, so might as well go for broke, to speed up the targeting process.

With the cloak ticking down, and the damage to our units (and the D-type armor) going up I think now is the time (maybe the only time) to go all in.

[X] Plan: No time like the present

Took so long on doing this I didn't see TNOs post.

This was a hard choice. I'm reluctant to expose Rei to more damage, but we may not get another chance. The shot has to hit.

But her armor, the only thing keeping her alive right now, will be at risk of being further damaged, and if it breaks, she's toast. Literally. She's not going to just be burnt like Shinji and Rei were (wich is already pretty bad), she will be be side by side to a miniature sun.

She will be taking damage either way, yes, but the difference between taking the offensive or not can be letal.

In my view the fact that the armor itself is taking damage is indicative of the heat becoming to much for it, it is starting to crumble under the pressure (so to speak) because after all the armor was able to withstand the temperature from an active volcano in the show, the Angels attacks have been all fire based after all (unless I missed some physical attacks) so the more this goes on the worse it is going to get.

The temperature and radius of the no-go zone around its body is expected to increase as well.

So it is my understanding that when you factor in the temperature increase to the decreasing 16 (now less) minutes mark we had at the beginning of this battle, the heat is only going to get worse and worse until everything is incinerated, so my thoughts are based around that no matter how dangerous it is now, it is going to be even worse (more lethal) next turn if it is allowed to go on any further.

[X] Plan: No time like the present

I understand people will automatically be reluctant to deliberately put anyone in the line of fire.

But I get the sense that this is a case of "pick your poison." Someone is going to take the heat, literally and metaphorically. Shinji is our best gunner right now, so he should be protected.

Also, I'm thinking of the relationship dynamics here. We already asked Asuka to take the biggest risks against the centipede Angel and she's still blind in one eye from that.
