Putting the Craft in Warcraft

[X] Plan Tools & Magic v.2.0
[X] First thing you do is make sure your boss (and the priests) knows the uses of gold as a light conduction metal, so others know they can use gold inlay for light enhancements on equipment.
[X] Work days are 3/3/3/3/3/D (x5=30 days i.e. a month) 25 end fatigue, 75 work segments.
-[X] Work the required segments on repairing equipment plus maybe a bit. {75 -(7x5) =40}
--[X] When repairing, try to take some repair projects that will let you practice your leatherworking (but nothing that would slow you down, wouldn't do to hinder the war effort). You could do better there and if you want to make the best armours you must.
-[X] Forge new and improved blacksmithing tools. (Only the portable stuff. Ignore anvil and forge) Use whatever metal you think best/have time for, give it a Stamina++ enhancement definately and blue quality if you have the time.
[X] Spend 2/3rds of what free segments you have left after repairwork and tool upgrades training magic. Whatever kind you can most easily arrange training in. Try the quartermaster or Joyce.
-[X] Additionally suggest to the quartermaster that equipping each of the specialists with a set of light armor(leather or chainmail) and a buckler may be prudent - in case of the worst happening such as Stormwind coming under siege or infiltrators appearing in the city. Each specialist is an investment and so giving them some form of protection cant hurt. Weapons should not be an issue since we are a group of smiths and craftsmen surrounded by heavy implements.
--[X] If not, make your own provisory armour and ask Leon to help you train in it.
---[X] Visit Leon anyway to train/spar and catch up. If they want to, bring Joyce and the other specialists too.
[X] while at the bar, befriend the defenders of city or any other craftsmen.
---[X] Attempt to contact and invite Leon, a knight of Lothar, your acolyte helper, that one crossbowman that you met if he is still around and/or some of the other specialists as we go.

:V might as well

Plan Tools & Magic v.2.0

Do we actually have the time for this? It seems like we are trying to do everything, and in result, everything we do will be shit. I'd rather focus on one area to improve than try to fit everything in and make little progress.

Well, we have about forty work segments we're not using to repair stuff. Out of those we use maybe something like half to make a blue quality (+13) ++stamina(+3) Steel? (+2) hammer (depends how many segments it takes to make the hammer =18+?) That should be plenty, right? Then we use two thirds of what's left to train magic (conservative estimate ~12 segments used to train) And have something like six-ish segments left to train/spar with Leon and/or make a provisory armour. So we won't compromise on tools, but training, especially fighting, might not get as much time as we might want.

[X] Speak with officer Harding to see if it would be logistically possible and strategically useful for us to to add protective enchantments agains fel magic full-time to as many of the sets of armor being repaired as possible. If we can equip at least a small elite unit in armor somewhat proof against such spells, it might make a noticeable difference.
[X] If it turns out we simply can't be spared from conventional repair efforts, still do our best on our own time to upgrade the armor as we repair it. It might save lifes.
[X] Don't work ourselves to total exhaustion like we did with Lothar's armor - we might have to leave Stormwind in a hurry if things go poorly. There needs to be some strength left in us to run, if it should come to that.

[x] Get repairs done as fast as possible without burning yourself out. Also help out with getting the other 20 Knights back into the field seeing as they were also part of the King's commission toward yourself.
-[x] Look for some more intruction in smithing and enchanting during your free time, maybe someone to give you some tips on leather too.

[X] Plan we found out how to imbue light so let's take it a step further.
[X] Act as a liason between the Priesthood and the Army
-[X] Send a message to Priesthood on two separate issues. Potential cross training with the army and to learn the Light Attunement process for them selves.
-[X] Send the Army Heads a message about two issues. Potential Cross training with the Priesthood and to have their own Enchanters/Forgers learn the Light Attunement process.
--[X] First is that we're willing and want to teach the Light Attunement process to others since it's currently the best chance we have against fel magic and that other dedicated light attuners is good for our schedule on account of us wanting more time for our next big project. So at the least have them send some of their better forgers/Enchanters to learn from us or the Enchant Specialist the light attunement process.
--[X] Second is that with the Light Attunement it's possible to both bring the Priesthood into the battlegrounds and not lose their effectiveness and to teach Knights and Soldiers light magic to take advantage of the Light Attuned Weapon and Armor. Hence why they would need their own
-[X] IF we have some spare time work on our Enchantments. In particular a potential Earth Enchantment and making our Glowwing more solid
[x] Work days are 3/3/3/3/R

---[X] Attempt to contact and befriend Leon, one of the knights of Lothar, your acolyte helper, and that one crossbowman that you met so that you have a ranged and melee allies if things get worst.

[X] Plan Arcane Might
[x] Work days are 3/3/3/3/3/3/R
-[X] Work the required segments on repairing equipment.
-[X] Forge a one-handed warhammer (2 segments)
--[X] Truesilver ( 4 segments, 10 gold)
--[X] Stamina++ (3 segments, 4 gold)
--[X] green quality (5 segments)
--[X] Light attunement (10 segments)
--[X] Sub-total Cost: 24 segments, 14 gold - 20% specialist discount = 11.2 gold
[X] Request introductions to a mage capable of teaching us further from the quartermaster - or if that fails locate Joyce and ask if she could introduce us to someone to further our ligth training with a focus on self defense(smite - holy ranged attack, Holy shield - bubble up!). Spend what time we have outside of our required crafting on this.
[X] while at the bar, befriend the defenders of city or any other craftsmen.

-[x] Look for some more intruction in smithing and enchanting during your free time, maybe someone to give you some tips on leather too.

Still messy as balls, but if someone wants to give their go at organizing this better, go ahead.

We haven't heard one way or the other whether or not the knight's armor is still being worked on. The King also directly commissioned us to get the knights' armor done, and specific orders tend to outweigh general orders and even then we'd still be doing the general orders first.

Like I said earlier, these knights are likely to be the most effective thing that are going to be coming out of Stormwind anytime close to soon. I want that done as soon as possible.

You are really, really grasping at straws to think I'd buy this argument. Add in you've actively dismissing most of what I've said as personal character attacks on you... and I think I'm running out of things to say to you on this that don't actually qualify as declaring this previous post of yours as a prophesy.

One last time:
-The King made it our job to personally upgrade Lothar's armor.
-We did so and did his horses barding as a bonus. This took a month.
-It is flagrantly not Waylan's job to all the repairs of all the knights.
-It is Waylan's job to do R&D.
-Waylan is doing his job and rather well at that.
-There are other smith's in the kingdom. They make and repair the knight's EQ all the time.
-The only question is if they can handle the light enhancement part. Likely the reason it is taking so long.

-For some odd reason your literally declaring that because Waylan is not personally repairing the knights gear it isn't getting done ever.
-Your effectively declaring all the other smiths, including the ones that built that gear incompetent and declaring they fail at their own jobs forever.
-Your declaring them all suffering from dereliction of duty.
-Your declaring them to all be blowing off the King's direct orders.
-At best I'll give you some of the knights are going to be stuck with the gear they had last time they went out.

...Dude. read the story post again. The King *did* make it Wayland's job to repair (and probably put the light infusing inlays on) twenty knights' armors.

Look again at what I said was an Ad Hominem Fallacy.

Lets get to the main issue with your response... your obsessed with the Glory work... and think basically every other smith in the kingdom is useless.
This part of your response does not deal with the logic of my arguments, but instead states an opinion about me, "That I am obsessed with Glory Work" (Whatever that is) as fact. It completely ignores my argument and goes after my character and background--which you know nothing about. That is an Ad Hominem. I did not say it was done intentionally, but I was pointing out that it was an Ad Hominem and beyond that need not be addressed.

The second time I said that you had an Ad Hominem you began with, "You seriously do not understand how this R&D thing works." Again, that is directed at me and not my argument.

(The ones that remain I have issue with.)

Incorrect.

First off, the King commissioned Wayland to rearm 20 knights and their horses in two months and addition to rearming Lothar in one month. It was Officer Harding who lightened the burden by taking most of the knights and horses off of Wayland's platter. Technically, Wayland is still responsible for them getting done.

Second, While there are many smiths in Stormwind they are also being currently asked to fix the armor of soldiers coming in from the front. They might be handling more than Wayland, they might be handling less. We simply don't know.

Third, I did not say that. What I did say is that I want it done as soon as possible. It takes less time when N+1 people are helping than it does when only N people are helping.

Fourth, I am not saying anything about the other smiths. I am saying that Wayland has some free time in his schedule and that I believe the best thing he can do during that time is work on the King's original commission. I said nothing beyond that, and the fact that perhaps he should look at getting training in Enchanting, Blacksmithing, and Leatherwork because he can advance to the next rank in each--but no one wants to talk about that.

Fifth, I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Are you saying that even if we had no time limit before they hit the field, infinite resources, and infinite workers we would not be able to rearm twenty men and twenty horses. That doesn't make sense. If what you meant to say "At worst," I'd still have a problem with that.

Twenty knights and twenty horses who are resistant to Fel Magic and are highly mobile is a rather large game changer. I pointed out the reasons why last time. The fewer of them that are resistant to Fel Magic, the less effective they are. But if you disagree, that is your choice.

Bit of building
[X]Forge Better Tools for blacksmithing.
-[X]Do a bit more than the bare minimum for Repairs (10 segments a week)
-[X]Talk to our boss about Gold Attunement.
-[X]Talk to our priest friend about the light.
-[X]Forge something to help Leon survive if we have the time.
-Forged Blue Steel Blacksmithing Hammer of Strength, and Agility
Time = 1+2+13+3+3-2 = 20
Time per Month 4*30 = 120 - 30 (Sleep) -40 (Work) - 20 (Hammer) = 30 left of free time.
Standard Upkeep 3 GP per month
Cost of hammer 4+9*.8 (Discount) =10.4
13.4 GP spent out of 17.4
You have 4 GP left

New Hammer gives the following: - 1 Segment off all blacksmithing time to a minimum of 1 (For all but Thorium). +25 Blacksmithing Skill

----

You have a lot of work now. All of it repair work. The knight's armor is finished off at the beginning of the month, where you assist the leatherworkers and other Blacksmiths in adding the finishing touches. This is the easy part. Especially once it's known that gold can be attuned just as well as Truesilver. Gold is far more plentiful, and even better works very well to coat things. It's less durable than you would like, but everything has a trade off.

Fortunately you aren't needed to work solely on the repair work, and can do a small side project. Not much of one, but you need a proper hammer. Using Smith's tools has rammed home the fact that if you want to get better, you need to have better tools.

Steel is the best you can afford right now. But you can't look down on the simple metal. It's the hardest of the stone metals, and combined with some proper treatment, it's better than anything but Thorium. You might not have the money to afford that, but the time you've taken to make the hammer, combined with the simple enchantments has made it likely one of the best hammers for your work. A good tool in all, and one that will likely last you a very long time.

You actually leave your forge when it's still light out for once too. Which lets you finally try to track down Leon. It's a bit harder than you would think as the man's stuck in the elite training. And apparently on lockdown.

"You are the one that made that sword of his aren't you?" The guard for the area looks at you with a slightly annoyed expression. "He loves to wave that thing around. Even sleeps with the blasted thing. Getting a swelled head and all that too."

You smile with some embarrassment. "Sorry? I know he's dumb as a box o' rocks, but he asked."

"Yeah, yeah." The guard snorts. "Tell ya what, I can't let you through normally, but since you made that sword of his, I can wave it under you checking up on equipment. Problem is you're probably going to get roped into doing some of it."

You grimace. "I got a lot o' work. Not sure I can take more."

The guard makes a face. "We could use some things that wouldn't break if you look at em wrong. Training is good, but some of the stuff is older than my grandma. I'll sweeten the deal too! You do this, and I'll let you join up for the prank we are doing."

"Prank?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah! See, Leon's being an idiot. Thinks 'cause he's can beat us all in PT that he's hot shit." The guard snorts. "You come in, take a training sword, and we can make it so you win. We got a weakening potion that lasts about an hour. He's gonna get dosed. Probably be best for you to do it anyway, since if one of us did it he wouldn't take it as seriously."

You snort. "I'll think about it."

"Will be here." The guard grumbles. "Elite training my ass, went through the entire thing and got stuck helping train the next batch of meat."

You just shake your head and leave.

It would figure that Leon would get into some idiocy like that.

Aside from that event, you spend a fair amount of free time with Joyce. Most of it is spent talking casually. About the light, your work, and other things. You even try to increase your skill with the light. Which while not a failure isn't particularly easy. If it's not crafting it's really not particularly easy for you.

You are able to heal now somewhat though. Which lets you deal with the standard burns and such that you get over a days work.

All together, it's a surprisingly easygoing month for you. Even with the horrible news from the front. The Orcs have razed another city to the ground. Right now people are evacuating from their path. The 'grand plan' is to let them break on Stormwind now.

So you expect that the end of next month they will be seiging the keep. Which is a bit of a laugh to be honest. The last time they tried that, they were almost wiped out. Stormwind is a fortress in every sense of the word. Even better, it can't be seiged conventionally. They can just get things shipped in from the port. So while the news is bad, there is very little panic at the moment, even with the refugees.

[] Plan for next month

To meet and spar with Leon, you will need to promise 6 segments of work time.
Leatherworking perk
-75 Light reinforcement provides some minor elemental protection

[x] Train how to fight
[x] Continue working on repairs.
[x] Repair Guard Equipment.
[x] Drink to relax
- [x] Continue meeting Joyce
- [x] Continue meeting Leon
