Tamiko: Hm... Is it just me or is he seems really familiar?
Evelyn: Nah, never saw him.
Kishi: P-probably you saw him on TV, Tamiko.
Ariane: Yes, he should be pretty famous!
Mariko: *shrug*
Tamiko: Just me, then.

Ariane on the other hand…

"G-guys? A little help, please?" she cries out with a panic-stricken voice.

You sigh at the sight of the girl, completely surrounded by a horde of birds aiming for the pair of breadcrumb bags on her arms. With so many birds pressing against her feet, she can't even move away from there without kicking the birds in the process. She's desperately trying to keep the bags out of their reach but some opportunistic one attempt to make her drop them by flying past her.

"D-do you think we should help her," Kishi asks, sounding almost reluctant.

You close your eyes for a moment and nod with a sigh. "Let's go."
That's adorable and hilarious.
-[] Second World War!
Question: Does it cover Japan's aggressive role and actions? As a historian, I feel... uncomfortable exposing girls this young to war and atrocities, so I'd just like to ask in an OOC fashion.

It's family friendly in the sense that they won't go into graphic details about stuff, but the exhibition wouldn't be recommended for the youngest children of families.

The five of you make your way to the spiraling museum, managing to make it through the front doors before being forced to line up for the entrance tickets. While it's no holiday season, there are enough people and too little cashiers to force you to queue for entering the exhibitions themselves.

Not that it's you only standing around awkwardly. Just from the entrance you can see the spiraling stairways and the levels above you, all built into a architectural beauty. You find yourself staring around at the place in wonder, never having gotten to visit a place like this Though much is hidden behind the solid rails, you can see glimpses of what is to come.

Right next to you, Ariane let's out a quiet, "Whoaa…" at the sight. If you were amazed by what you saw, then she is downright transfixed by everything she sees. You can't really blame her.

"Oh, l-looks like they have changed the special exhibition," Kishi observes, causing everyone to turn look at her. "I-I came here last year with my parents," she hastily explains, flustered about the shower of attention. "T-they had an fair about the Second World War then…"

"Wow, that sounds really interesting!"
Evelyn exclaims, seemingly intrigued by the prospect.

"Y-yeah… T-they actually brought in a real tank for display," Kishi explains with an enthusiastic nod. "I-it was pretty barebones inside, though…"

Evelyn lets out a whistle at that. "Man, I wish I had gotten see that."

You nod along to that. You don't know why, but you suddenly get the silly idea of getting yourself a tank and then driving it to the town with your friends. Or even a witch barrier! Maybe you could ask Kishi to make one?

"I don't know… This History of Science exhibition seems very interesting too," Mariko notes, sounding almost genuinely excited, much to your surprise.

"Y-yeah, it's certainly new at least," Kishi allows. "B-but how about we go through the normal exhibitions first? I-I can act as a guide there!"

Nobody objects.

===

"So… Let me get this straight," Evelyn says with a raised eyebrow. "Japan was invaded twice by the Mongols…"

"Y-yes?"
Kishi answers.

"...And both of these times, they got wrecked by a freak typhoon while seaborne?"

"W-well, yes… B-but, there's a bit more to-"

"Wow, talk about lucky,"
Evelyn summarizes with a whistle, interrupting Kishi's explanation. "I wonder what it must have been like to the guys defending the islands, though?"

"Very divine!"
you announce quickly with a sneaky smile, drawing groans from Kishi and Mariko, but a wide grin from Evelyn.

"Heh, guess the Mongols were gone with the wind then?"

"I know! They vanished like smoke in the wind!"

"P-please don't…"

===

"Heee, are these katanas?" Ariane asks happily while pressing her hands against the display case. Down on your waist level, several different swords are set, each one out of their stylish sheaths for display. "I didn't know they could be that large!" The girl points at a blade easily the size of a man.

"Well, that's not a katana… Actually, most of them aren't," you explain slowly and take a step closer to the plastic box. "The one you're pointing at is called a nodachi… Well, I think at least?"

"Huh… Then is that the katana?"
Ariane asks pointing at another sword, this one quite small compared to the others.

"Nah, that one's a wakizashi."

"...That's just silly,"
Ariane notes, and you think you can see a mischievous glint flicker in her eyes. "Why would the exhibition need to show anything else but katanas for swords?"

"Because it's a good one!"
Kishi huffs indignantly.

===

"Man, Newton really was amazing!" you exclaim as you gaze at the series of pictures laid on the wall before you. The entire science exhibition was just one wonder after another to you, with the various artifacts and small animations explaining the significance of the featured people. Who knew science could be fun without magic!

"Y-yes, Sir Isaac Newton is still one of the most important figures in the field, even when the science has advanced from his times," Mariko explains with a dreamy edge to her tone. "It's a testament to his theories' impact and the genius of the man."

"Hmm, I think I remember him being mentioned in our Physics books? Something about laws or such…"

"Y-yes, Newton's laws of motion. They're the very basic stuff,"
Mariko notes and shakes her head. "Did you know how he came up with his theory of gravity? He was resting under an apple tree when one of the fruit fell down and hit him in the head. He started to wonder why it fell down, and things built up from there."

"Isn't that a bit silly, though?"
you ask with some curiosity. "I mean hadn't he seen anything else fall down before? Why would he need an- OW!"

You wince and rub your head, turning turn to look everywhere around you to see what hit you all of sudden. At first you don't notice anyone or anything out of the usual, but then your eyes lock with a spherical red object on the floor. You pick it up with raised eyebrow and frown.

What is a rubber apple doing here?

"Score one!" comes the answer from straight above, and you turn to see a hysterically laughing Evelyn leaning against the rail of the second floor. Both Kishi and Ariane are standing next to her, both showing clear amusement at the joke. So that's what they were doing in the gift shop while you were going ahead with Mariko!

"Ow, why did you do that?" you shout at them with a pout.

"Because science, that's why!"

===

"E-everyone… I think I want to become an astronaut," you whisper as you walk out of the small video theater in the museum. They had just run a small documentary on the history space travel and the scientific breakthroughs that lead to it.

Needless to say, getting to see some actual footage from space along the way, and some amazing animations about what lies beyond… you are left nigh speechless. The stars must be so much more beautiful up there!

"Yeah, me too…" Evelyn notes, unusually calm about it. "I wonder if they will have colonies on Mars or Moon in the near future? I would love to visit such places…"

"I-it's unlikely for a decade or two,"
Mariko says, with Kishi nodding next to her. "I would like to go to space myself, though. The view must be amazing when seen by your own eyes."

"Yeah, it looked so beautiful, magical even… It must be so nice there"
Ariane dreamily says. "I really want to meet some aliens too."

"..."

The tour to the museum is over at around half past three when you walk outside the building and head to the planned restaurant near the Railway station. When searching for a good place to eat, the burger place was recommended by many people your age. And while your aunt is the best cook you know, junk food is still tasty!

It's no AMERIKANMEGABÃGÃ, but a thousand Middle schoolers can't have a bad taste!

The restaurant itself is nearly packed with people of all ages, and it takes you a while to find a free table to reserve for yourselves. It ends up between some normal-looking family and a small group of schoolgirls. You could have gotten far worse! This one actually has soft benches for everyone.

It takes only a few minutes for Kishi and Ariane to come back from the line with your meals, the two having queued while the rest of you reserved the table. It's time for the very late lunch break to begin!

What do you do?

Idea: We make a tank... that can channel the abilities of the magical girls inside! We can call it... Team Tank!

I'd laugh if I wasn't so familiar with the Special Attacks program.

I wonder if this is the work of a wish. The Mongols' inability to sail without getting struck by a disaster or two always did amaze me.

The wish doesn't neccessarily have to be from a Japanese girl since a lot of people had good reason to hate the Mongols.

Little did she know, she already knew one.

It goes by the name of Tamiko, and romance is a foreign concept to it.

All shall be consumed by the Platonic and Familial Friendship Filter.

Believe it or not, I debated whether I should have the characters wonder about the same thing, among a lot of other things (which is why this update was a nightmare to write, too much to choose from). I decided against it, since the purpose of this trip is to have fun, not to construct conspiracies like this.

Furthermore, I feel that letting this kind of things remain ambiguous and unstated works better. Ironically, the world starts to feel really dull and unmagical if you explain everything with Meguca and their wishes. Reality is unrealistic, and I want to keep that going on here too.
