[x] Dinner... wine... THAT IS TOTALLY DATE! YOU HAVE PROOF NOW! Checkmate, uncle!
[x] Sit down to eat dinner.
-[x] Talk with your uncle and Cathy.
--[x]About what they did today
Any and all implications of your adorableness and questions about your life fly over your head as your gaze locks onto the glass of wine on Catherine's hand. You narrow your eyes and move your focus to the rest of the meal. It is suspiciously rather large for something to be done for a single free day between work. This... This is it!
You dramatically point your finger at your uncle and grin widely. "A-ha! I-I have the proof now, this is a date between you two! Ch-checkmate, uncle, checkmate!" you shout triumphantly. Finally you have the chance to push back against the evil that is your uncle! Payback is a bitch!
While you are not exactly sure what kind of reaction you were expecting, this is not it. At first, both your uncle and Cathy simply raise their eyebrows at your dramatic outburst, clearly not expecting such a reaction from you. However, the latter recovers her wits faster and turns to look at your uncle with a slowly expanding sly grin.
"Hmm, I knew there was a reason I liked her! Smart one, that niece of yours, don't you think?" she says in delight and sets the glass of on the table. She leans a bit further to look at your uncle, slightly revealing a metallic chain of a necklace against the side of her neck. Your uncle only coughs pointedly in his fist.
"Well, Tamiko is certainly a bright girl, although the conclusion she drew from this one is quite wrong. We have talked about this, haven't we?" he states, completely nonplussed of any accusations.
You are caught completely flat-footed when he suddenly turns to look at you. You gulp nervously and draw back your extended arm a bit. There is this certain amused glint in his eyes that you do not like one it. "Well, I think you should still watch and learn. After all, a time will come when you'll just have to cook a romantic dinner for your waifu. I don't think those afternoon dates will cut it forever~."
In that moment, you wish you could just disappear from the sheer embarrassment. Your blush radiates brightly in the room and you seem to shrink several sizes. You try to protest, you really do... but nothing comes out except for a light, pathetic wheeze. Why here in front of visitors? Whyyyy!?
Catherine only chuckles at your reaction, further drowning you in your pit of despair and doom. "Ah, young love... Just take it slow, lass, you have your entire life ahead of you. There is no need to rush things yet," she advises you and nods her head sagely.
There is no victory here, not with the two of them ganging on you. There is no dishonor in surrendering this one. You weakly grab the back of a chair and slump down on the chair as your shaking legs give out under you. Maybe if you just eat your dinner quietly, you might just make out with some dignity left intact.
"Uuuuh... H-how... was your day then?" you manage to stutter out in embarrassment as you reach out to the food containers. In your head, you begin to pray that they would make your coming death swift.
"D'aww, you are just too adorable for your own good," Cathy coos and pats you on the head, "But who am I to decline an answer to a face like that? Hmm, I suppose you could say we had a... nice, relaxing tour around the town?"
"...By which she means we spent better part of the day going over malls and small stores in a shopping spree," your uncle deadpans and passes you the potato bowl.
"Hmm, I don't think you should complain that much," Catherine shoots back in amusement and laughs, "You seemed to enjoy yourself well enough! Besides, you sorely needed that upgrade to your wardrobe. Pink looks just so good on you! You should wear it more often!"
"Charming, I'm sure," your uncle answers her skeptically and leans back on his chair, "But I dare say burning the majority of my non-work clothing was pretty excessive, no?"
"Details, details..." Catherine says and waves her hand dismissively. "But how about your niece's day then? It is just unfair to force her to listen to our ramblings when she must have had such an eventful day herself. Why, she seemed to be anxious about something when she stepped in?" she continues rhetorically and turns to look at you with your uncle.
Damn.
