Oh this can be interesting, but what do you mean by extreme ?

I direct ye to Chronicles of the Going Home Club, episode seven, first half. The rules aren't actually very different, but if you treat it like an intense battle to the death, it becomes one.
...can we play this with our uncle present? He can be the narrator...thank you for showing me such a awesome thing...that was amazing.

You decide to let it be, not wanting push a topic Kishi is uncomfortable with any further. While you would like to find out more about Mr. Kyubey, it can probably wait until later when you are somewhere more private and secluded. 'W-well, I guess…' you send to Kishi and turn to look out of the window again, hearing a quiet sigh of relief from Kishi.

The rest of the bus drive peacefully passes by without any kind of incidents, and you hop out once you reach the familiar residential area. The walk to Ariane's house doesn't take too long and soon enough you find yourself ringing the buzzer at the gate to the huge yard. You hear no answer, but the gate opens itself before you letting you walk in side by side.

You don't get very far on the path to the mansion as Ariane bursts out of the door to greet you in person, a happy smile etched on her face. You can see Kishi tense up when she notices the running girl. Beginnings of a light blush creep on her face. She is probably remembering what happened the last time you were here.

While it was incredibly embarrassing to both of you, you don't think there's any reason to be that wary of Ariane's intentions. She agreed to not do that again after all, so she is probably running towards you just to greet you...

...And then you find yourself thrown to the ground with great force as Ariane glomps both you and Kishi, throwing you to the ground. A delighted squee escapes her lips as you crash to the ground, and drowns the yelps from you. "Wheeeee, you're finally here!" Ariane chimes and tightens the hug on you, "I was getting so booooored of waiting…"

"Uh, hi Ariane," you weakly groan underneath her, vainly trying to get her to ease the grip. While you can always appreciate a hug from your friends, the cold pavement of a walkway is not the best possible place! "...C-could you let go? T-the ground isn't exactly comfortable," you calmly ask her.

"Aww, do we have to?" she whines back, not easing her hold on you in the slightest.

"I-it would be good, y-yes," Kishi weakly stutters out in your stead.

"...Fine," Ariane reluctantly allows and climbs back on her feet. You and Kishi follow suit, dusting off yourselves.

"Huh, isn't Evelyn coming today?" Ariane asks you and curiously peeks behind you in case someone was hiding from her sight there.

"Don't worry, she is coming too," you calmly tell her, "She just had to go home first, so we'll have to wait for her."

"Hmm, if you say so… But hey, miss Celia prepared cocoa and cookies before going home! Come on, we can go through those while we wait!"

The three of you make your way to the kitchen of the manor-like house. You note with some surprise that the hallways are now fully illuminated. The lamps are small but bright, and they have some barely noticeable wires going to several light switches scattered across the hallways. The work is clearly unfinished, but it seems that Mr. Verrier has decided to get proper lighting to the house.

It certainly beats out the flashlights…

The dining hall is still as spacious as you remember from your first visit. However, rather than go over the area in search of secrets doors and hidden compartments, all of you sit down at the table while Ariane carries a filled silver tray to the table. All of you pick your mugs and plates for the cookies while chatting with each other.

"So, how have you been today?" you curiously ask Ariane and swallow the last piece of a delicious chocolate cookie. She is lucky to have someone able to make these. Maybe your uncle knows the recipe?

"Oh, it's the usual… learning, reading, writing, more learning, the usual!" she answers dismissively and takes a gulp from her mug, "But I kind of wanted to ask you, when are we going to see the other towns? It is getting so difficult to wait!"

"Uh, t-there's no need to hurry," Kishi says, "w-we'll have good time in the weekend. J-just be patient, w-we don't want to rush this."

"Yeah, d-don't worry, we'll go there eventually. Let's just enjoy this afternoon for now," you continue from Kishi's answers.

"I know... but I hate waiting…" Ariane groans in response and grabs another cookie from the pile, "How long do you think it'll take for Evelyn to arrive?"

"I-I think it will take an hour or so? She has to take another bus and we don't know where she lives... so it's hard to say," you note theorizingly, having no idea yourself, "But if we have to wait, we could pass time with games! H-have you heard of... Shiritori?"

"Yeah, my Japanese teacher had me do that a lot! I'll start… um… well…"

You are not very surprised learn over the course of your game that you and Kishi have a distinct advantage when it comes to knowing the vocabulary. Although, to Ariane's credit, she does show a solid grasp of the language herself, even if she has conversed with you quite easily before.

Still, word games can keep you occupied for so long and the game eventually devolves into childish arguments. First about the viability of localized English and French words, then to whether chocolate or strawberry is the better ice cream flavor, and finally to the best song of all time.

The last one gets interrupted by a buzzing sound echoing from the wall, which causes Ariane to giddily jump up from her seat and bolt towards the front door. You and Kishi wait in the suddenly awkward silence for a a long time before Ariane finally comes barreling back in, literally dragging Evelyn behind her.

The latter is clearly flustered from something and hastily dusts off herself to save some face. She desperately tries to wave at you but the attempt to look cool only comes off as awkward, "Uh... hi!"

Incidentally, the two cases of crazy shiritori I mentioned were

Delete Shiritori:

Each player has a syllable bank that includes all fifty Japanese syllables.[2] The order players take turns is decided by drawing cards. Lower numbers go first.[3]
  1. The first player to finish up their fifty syllables is the winner.[4]
  2. Each syllable of the fifty syllables can only be used once.[4]
  3. The first syllable of the word will be passed down from the previous player. Therefore, only the second syllables and beyond are to be "deleted".[4]
  4. The following cases will result in a disqualification:
    1. When cannot think of a word or when you use the same syllable.[5]
    2. When you use a word that's already been used by the previous player.[6] Homonyms are an exception.[7]
    3. When you use a word that ends with "ん" (N). Since there are only a handful of words that start with "ん" (N).[6] (Because the game ends when all fifty syllables are used however, it is possible to use a word that ends with "ん" (N) to finish the game.[8])
  5. When a player is disqualified, the Shiritori game will continue on with the rest of the players. When there is only one player left, the last player will win automatically.[5]
  6. No passes.[5]
  7. The "fifty syllables" are the forty-five syllables excluding the archaic "kana" words and the "を" (Wo) syllable.Voiced, half-voiced, long consonants, and contracted sounds are also included.[9]
  8. Only use nouns so words can go undisputed.[7]
  9. No violence.[10]
  10. Words must be four syllables or more.[11]
  11. Time limit is exactly one hour. Will be disqualified even if answered "within" an hour.(ie. You have to answer on the hour, no sooner nor later)[11]
And Materialisation Shiritori:

Similar to the normal Shiritori rules, each player takes turns to give a noun which does not end with N (However, the players can switch language at will and don't even have to stick to languages both parties speak). The last character of the previous word said must be the first character of the next word to be said. Things that are present will disappear, and things that are not present will materialize. Players cannot cause the direct death of each other by stating vital components of the body (they can cause the indirect death of the other by altering the environment though). The noun stated must be a non-imaginary word. Sora noted that words which are non-imaginary but the opponent does not know of can also be used.
The conditions for losing are:[1]
  1. Using a word that has already been said
  2. Being unable to answer within 30 seconds
  3. Being unable to continue
In addition, when a word is stated, the effect is based on the meaning intended by the player who stated it.

As a side note, I did some tweaking to character sheets to reflect the recent developments: mainly to Evelyn's and to a lesser extent Kishi's. Again, notify me if you think I forgot something or you find some typos/clunky language.

Also, I should have the end of the weekend mostly free (no promises), so I'll be doing some organization work then. Like finally making that timeline and maybe threadmarking the story only -thread. If you think of something that is required, just say so: I have no real life anyways :V.

After seeing the addition, I feel a need to slap the stupid out of Tami whilst yelling " SHES INTO YOU YOU IDIOT! WHY CANT YOU SEE IT! WAKE UP!!!"
