this must be met in kin- Wait, how long until the update gets here?

because I can't write horror in daylight with my little sister giving makeovers on the other side of the room.

Chapter 2 - The problems won't go away on their own 5
[x] Skip to the end of school.

[x] Go with the basic plan: head over to Ariane's for the afternoon with Evelyn coming in later. Figure out what to do once there.

[x] Along the way, telepath Mr. Kyubey and ask why he was not able to come over last time.

You nod at Evelyn, tentatively agreeing with her suggestion. While you would prefer if you all traveled to Ariane's together, you can also understand Evelyn's reasoning. "Okay, we'll be waiting for you no matter how long it takes. So don't worry about being late!" you answer the girl with a cheery voice, "A-anyways, I think we can make it this bus route if we hurry after school..."

The three of you return to the normal lunch break chatter, talking about a plethora of unrelated subjects with each other. Although, it does take a few moments for Kishi to fully snap out of her nervousness about the coming day. The break doesn't last forever though, and after a while you are all headed back to class for the afternoon's lessons.

You cannot recall anything truly memorable about the lessons themselves, other than taking notes and doing the required work as per usual. As such, you don't bother staying there for longer than is necessary and hurriedly walk out of the room with Evelyn as soon as the school day ends. You bid each other the temporary goodbyes for the day as you go your separate ways from the school gate.

Kishi arrives there a few minutes later to join you for the visit to your friend. The two of you hurriedly make your way to the nearest bus stop and manage to get to the earliest possible lane with time to spare. You pick a free pair of seats in the vehicle and sit next to each other. However, neither one of you speaks that much during the trip, as both of you are wrapped in your separate thoughts.

While Kishi is taking the chance to go over her homework with a slight smile at being able to enjoy a simple quiet moment with you, even in a not-too-silent bus. You on the other had focus on more personal matters, namely what was going on with Mr. Kyubey last night and why he didn't appear to pick up the filled grief seed like he did before.

He didn't answer your attempts at telepathy... and hasn't talked with you after New Years either, now that you think about it. You are no entirely sure if your Magical Girl telepathy works with him, so the incident could have been caused by lack of viable communication methods. But since he used that kind of ability to speak with you the first time you met and he appeared when you threw the seeds, it strikes you as somewhat unlikely. You... feel worried about him, worried about your friend's absence.

Several different scenarios and dark thoughts cross your mind at once, each one making you feel more anxious about this. You shake your head to dispel them, not wanting to dwell on them.
...Did he abandon you? Did you drive him away by screwing up again?
...There is an easy way to test this at least. You nervously close your eyes and attempt to reach out to Mr. Kyubey through your telepathy again, feeling genuinely fearful of what might happen, 'M-mr. Kyubey? D-do you remember me, Tamiko? I-I... wanted to ask you something... W-why didn't you come over yesterday? W-weren't you able to?'

Time passes by agonizingly slowly, and you can hear your heartbeat get louder and faster from nervousness you are feeling. But nothing happens. You don't hear anything from him, not even a single thought. Your friend doesn't make even a momentary appearance...

You slink back on your seat. Looks like this didn't work...

What do you do?

[] Keep trying! Maybe you're doing something wrong or he's busy?

[] Let it be, you can think of this kind of things when you're not busy with your friends.
-[] Skip to Ariane's
--[] Talk with Ariane.
--[] Suggest something to do while you wait for Evelyn.

[] Talk with Kishi.
-[] What does she know about Mr. Kyubey and contacting him?

[] Write-in.

This would contain some thoughts or analysis if I wasn't on the verge of falling asleep where I stand.

That is problematic. Well in a way. You usually have to try quite hard to get Kyubey to leave you alone and now its the opposite. It doesnt really make sense for him to deliberately ignore her. So is this some weirdness from the curse on Tamiko? He managed to see her when he went to make the contract but we (the readers) have seen him have difficulty noticing her in the past.

I doubt it's related to the curse. More likely, unlike extremely powerful MG's like Mami and girls with ridiculous potential like Madoka, we're not important enough in his opinion to spend much time with.

One thought I've always had about the main series is that Kyuubey hung out with Mami as much as he did because he knew she was emotionally dependent on him, and it was convenient for him to have a powerful, dedicated MG in control of Mitakihara, so that he could make many quick contracts that would witch out, leading to a good harvest.

Compared to us, where we are less dependent on Kyuubey for support thanks to having friends and family, and are also not powerful enough to hold down an entire city on our own. So it makes sense that he would consider us lower priority.

And excellent way of testing whether he can notice us or not.

Even if we are 'beneath him' (ignoring that he has a multitude of duplicate bodies) thats no reason to ignore Tamiko outright or to not collect a grief seed.

if this does not work i will vote to telepath to him a scream calling his name, along with Ariane and Kishi.

I should probably note that the powers of the MC Meguca trio are all easily in the higher tiers of superpower lottery, so you being too weak to be bothered with doesn't work that well as an argument.

Ariane is essentially a walking nuke, only hampered by her personality and outlook on life.

Kishi has a plethora of options going for her combined with a solid base of passive buffs from robotics, but doesn't want to waste her magic on new tricks that are not guaranteed to work when the old ones are reliable and get the job done.

Tamiko's powers more geared to precision and trickery in comparison to her friends, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a Meguca with equal or greater capability for power versatility and potential for growth.

And if only you knew some of the ideas I have planned for Evelyn :V...

Chapter 2 - The problems won't go away on their own 6
[x] Talk with Kishi.
-[x] What does she know about Mr. Kyubey and contacting him?

...This is not the time to wallow in self-pity for your failures to communicate with your friend. You let out a quiet sigh and straighten your back against the bus seat before turning to look at Kishi sitting next to you. The girl is still smiling faintly despite being occupied by her school work. You hesitate for a moment to bother her about your own failures. She shouldn't need to help you out all the time.

However, she is a lot more experienced in Magical Girl business than you, and conversely can probably share some insight into your troubles. And come to think of it, you probably could have avoided a lot of problems in your Magical Girl career by being more active about learning the functions of the world of magic?

The realization makes you feel sheepish all of sudden, but you don't let it stop you from clearing your throat audibly to get your friend's attention. "Um, Kishi? C-can I ask you something?" you carefully tell her and take a quick look around the almost full bus. It is probably better to switch to telepathy for this, lest you accidentally reveal magic, 'I-it's about Mr. Kyubey…'

Kishi seems to freeze for a moment, taken off-guard by your sudden of Kyubey. It doesn't last for too long though as she calmly closes the book on her lap and looks up at the roof of the vehicle. "Y-yes? G-go ahead," she quietly lets out with a wary voice but continues in telepathy, 'W-what would you even want to k-know about him?'

'W-well, it's kind of stupid..." you hesitantly say before fully switching to telepathy, 'I-I've been thinking about him since last evening when he didn't come to pick up the grief seed... A-and I just tried to contact him with my telepathy, but got no response just like yesterday. D-do you know anything about this? C-can you tell me how to contact him?'

Kishi's body tenses up a bit and she gives you a quick sideways glance, 'W-well, he does usually answer when called with t-telepathy… B-but we don't get along too well, s-so I don't do t-that often. M-maybe he's just busy or something at the moment? D-don't worry too much about it.'

'I-I guess so, but… it still bothers me…' you admit and turn to look through the window at the constantly shifting scenery outside the bus. That does answer the question about communication methods, but you still have no idea why he would ignore you like that all of sudden. But you doubt it's anything Kishi could answer.

However, there was something she said earlier that struck you as strange, 'A-anyways, you said you didn't get along with him?' you ask with mild alarm and level your gaze at your friend. Mr. Kyubey and Kishi are among the best people you have ever met, so it makes no sense for them to dislike each other! Everyone one of your friends should get along with each other...
Maybe she is the reason he left you…
Kishi's eyes seem widen as she realizes she admitted that out loud to you. She begins shifting uncomfortably on her seat and tries to send you an explanation. 'U-um… I-it's nothing serious! H-he still checks on me o-occasionally,' she tries as diplomatically as possible at first, 'W-we just have some…uh, d-disagreements about things? W-we simply give each other room, t-that's all!'

Yeah, you suspect she isn't telling you everything there is to it... And the thought bothers you.

What do you do?

[] Let it be, she has her reasons and the bus is not the best place to pry about this.
-[] Skip to Ariane's
--[] Talk with Ariane.
--[] Suggest something to do while you wait for Evelyn.

[] Continue talking with Kishi.
-[] Tell her to explain everything, you know she is hiding something from you.
-[] Switch the topic elsewhere.
-[] Ask her to contact Kyubey and request him to come here?

[] Write-in.

Time to get back to normal writing schedule. Anyways, as you have seen the Side Stories, you will probably have a fair (but not complete!) idea on just why Kishi isn't too fond of Kyubey, regardless of the validity of her complaints.

I could edit my vote to have them play Shiritori instead of reading books.
