Trying to think of a plan, and I think we can confidently say that Hiver isn't tied to a chair with a gun to his head. The others don't kmow he snitched on them yet, so they may think he's on-board. We need to make contact with him and inform the man that we're going to rescue him, and that's where Handyman comes in.

When the ambush is sprung, Hiver acts with us, Menagerie Witch's horde acts as a distraction, and Black Swan tries to keep Scarlet Maturity occupied while Handyman and Lady Leizi run the hell away with Hiver.

The problem is Gwen and the rest of the 4 Seasons. We really could use another good face puncher for this situation since while Handyman is good at that too, I don't think he's "2v1 2 of Four Seasons" good. Have Hiver and Lady Leizi help maybe? We'll be on a timelimit since we know from Lady Leizi's assessment that Black Swan can't win against Scarlet Maturity, but she's the only one in the team that can stall him.
That works Handyman to tip off Hiver for the rescue and also smuggle in Maddies constructs for pincer attack to cause chaos.

Did a brief sweep of the DC's so far, and unless I've missed something, I don't think Lady Leizi has activated her bonus skill during this issue where she can reduce ESP DC of all her allies by 3. Which is good cause we'll need it for this mission.

Also atleast we know what we mission we take on and dont bring mona in. Taking down 3rd person while mona patrols is just efficient use of resources.

Edit: Were probably gonna have failnaught assist us a lot her targetting and monas blasters are amazing combo to making sure her hits dont miss and lower collateral damage for stronger blast.

Edit 2: BTw we still have to wait for wulong help and new dna from our cache and missions but if we can I think the ally empowerment powers works well for boosting johns Operations and makes him useful even with his abyssal hit.

Hopefully wulong can figure out a synergy with Ally empowerment on it.

In memory of Dr Ibis's dignity, here's some fun math I've worked out

The cheapest recipe for Autobiokinesis is Soldier X([Fitness]+[Regeneration]), Daggermaw/Multiplex([Transformation]), and Adamant([Transformation]+[Regeneration]) with a price of 5

The cheapest recipe for Fundamental Force Manipulation is Hydrocity([Elemental Manipulation]) and Crimson Soprano([Solar Absorption]+[Energy Manipulation]) with a stunningly low cost of 3 potentcy. Wow!

The cheapest way to get 3 Ally empowerment tags is Bulwark, Chatroom, and Nephthys for a total of 13. #RIP

IMPORTANT EDIT: Autobiokinesis is actually just 5

I have to imagine that all of our plans for power combos are happening in the margins of Ibis's personal notes.

Someone asked how back-and-forth the costume making process was a bit back, but how much feedback do the candidates themselves have with their selected powerset? Like, did Ibis, Chaucer, and Leizi decide the combination of samples themselves and then foisted it onto Mona and Rhys? Or was there more back and forth and collaboration?

Do we have mundane military equipment like smoke grenades and such? Not gonna be useful against SM, but against 4 Seasons, it might be useful. Still trying to think of a plan, but the ice cream I'm eating is too delicious and keeps distracting me. :p

Awesome update Bitterman.

The new DNA Profiles look amazing and Dr. Ibis' notes are just getting better and better.

I also came up with a possible build for a new hero.

Name: Adamant, Rakeem Wade
Power: Transformation, Enhanced Strength, Regeneration

Name: Sewer Rat, ???
Power: Transformation, Enhanced Senses, Self-Enhancement

Name: Lightstep, Lloyd Morgan
Power: Enhanced Speed, Invulnerability, Enhanced Senses, Enhanced Strength

Transformation + Transformation + Enhanced Strength + Enhanced Strength + Enhanced Senses + Enhanced Senses

Already sounds incredibly potent at this point with these easy synergies, but combine that with

Enhanced Speed + Regeneration + Invulnerability + Self-Enhancement

We would be doubling up on all but one of the 'Enhanced' stats we have at this point, which would be boosted again by Self-Enhancement I assume, double Transformation combined with Regeneration and Invulnerability would also make them ludicrously tanky.

Potency be rather high at 13 with no reductions, but if we manage to get a candidate with a high base Tolerance and boost it up with 'A Spoonful of Sugar', I think they could be well worth the cost even with the slight loss in potency.

Sorry if this got a bit wordy and came out of nowhere but it struck me while I was reading and wanted to get it out before I forgot about it.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it sounds like whoever gets this power set would probably wind up as a Wererat if it keeps the Rat part of Sewer Rat.

So, since it was mentioned that Umibōzu and Uiara were the primary handlers of aquatic Behemoths, and people have been mentioning Chaos 0 as something they might want to try and get, I had an idea for a potentially very useful power.

Hydrocity + Umibōzu + Daggermaw

Hydrocity both give water-flavored Elemental Manipulation, while Daggermaw gives a Transformation tag at a cheap potency. It's possible that the three might synergies into something like Elemental Shapeshifting/Transformation, and the resulting combination would potentially have Enhanced Strength, Enhanced Senses, and/or Construct Creation as well. It has a base Potency of 9, admittedly, so we might need to dilute it some if we can't get a high Tolerance recruit soon, but definitely a combination to keep in mind for the future.

In memory of Dr Ibis's dignity, here's some fun math I've worked out

The cheapest recipe for Autobiokinesis is Soldier X([Fitness]+[Regeneration]), Daggermaw/Multiplex([Transformation]), and Adamant([Transformation]+[Regeneration]) with a price of 8

we can still get new Dna from the cache and missions.

Also synergies auto fuse as long the keywords needed are there. So we just need to find out a stnergy with ally empowerment in it.

Lastly
Memoria+Mister hunch+Chatroom
should gives us both teleportation and ally empowerment since clairvoyance is a shoe in

Bulwark&Minesfield&Soprano
Should give us energy manipulation and ally empowerment

I think its better to just go with synergy with ally empowerment though

Depends on the character. Mona mostly picked her stuff with Chaucer, Maddie knew exactly what she wanted, and Rhys though the name was funny when Maddie came up with it.

Not yet!

Bitterman has said before that an "elemental manipulation" might not stay in it's own lane if it was mixed with something else. Autumne might not stay wind, Deadman might not stay magma, these two might not stay water...

Like how novalights light powers became gravity yeh.

Also that combo doesnt have any defense powers so really not good with john thinking about it.

Only type of hero im fine with def powers are those focused on support. Since they really shouldnt be in a fight.

For john right now Impartial to 3 clairvoyance since he can support us through teleports and Telepathic coordination.

Telepathy is massively useful for teamwork

That combo is also more HIT than OPERATIONS to the extent people care. Thought, pretty rad, ngl.
Figures still an easy and good combo for future.

Also am I right that ally empowerment powers boost Operations?

Since apart from powers that literallt enhanced intelligence or related to tech it seems more fitting for boosting Operations.

Probably helps in rep too only idiots wont appreciate proper and good support.

Our DNA collection grows. Now we just need a pool of fresh candidates and some spare goldnine. One thing that is interesting to me is we see a lot of powers that are directly applicable to HIT, ESPIONAGE, and possibly OPERATIONS but not so much REPUTATION. I see emotional manipulation but in the context of manifesting emotions as physical objects or power instead of social manipulations. Not much in the psychic department (save for Chatroom). Probably getting a synergy with multiple copies of emotional manipulation and clairvoyance could be the ticket for a dedicated social spec hero if we need one.

For the upcoming mission I imagine the structure will be something like:
  • Tense social encounter, parties try to get a feel for each other
  • Stalling from Four Seasons while Scarlet Maturity and friends get into position to spring ambush
  • Hell breaks loose, we'll need to escape while hopefully extracting Hiver
The team roles I imagine:
  • Lady Leizi - queen piece. Has big target on her head, advise pairing with a heavy hitter and putting on a shield for insurance
  • Black Swan - heavy hitter. Only one who could conceivably stall Scarlet Maturity in direct combat
  • Menagerie Witch - summoner. Provides reinforcements for distraction and escape, should be kept away from enemy forces
  • Handyman - advance scout. We want him to scope out the place beforehand, possibly inform Hiver in advance, and maybe take a few bullets while we make a getaway
It's an extremely good idea to have Handyman take a job at the place. In an ambush scenario we want to do anything we can to reduce the enemy's home field advantage, and that means scoping out the place ahead of time. Layout, exits, hiding spots, vantage points, etc. I'm not sure what would be the best role for him during the meeting though, whether he should be in the building beforehand and try to warn Hiver or come with our meeting party as a wild card (e.g. hiding as a brief case or slipping in as some stealthy creature thing).

Also I want to ask, are assigned shield generators consumed even if the character is not hit during the mission?

Funny enough the best way to up rep in our current knowledge is to give someone highly destructive powers so that people will fear and respect you.

Mona got 8 rep through a combo her cover and the fact people really wouldnt want to mess with someone who can level a city

Part of that was the good cover story, and Bitterman said that a good chunk of it is just Being A Nice Person Who Wants To Help And Does So.

Question, but does Lady Leizi's information network extend to being able to get a live feed of the public security cameras near the restaurant?
