Unrelated, but I there is an upcoming back issue that touches on themes of gender identity and dysphoria. I have no first hand experience with these feelings, and I've tried to do a lot of research to make sure I represent it respectfully. Is there anyone who's qualified on such topics who'd be willing to double check my concept to make sure I'm not inadvertently doing something offensive? It would involve spoilers and there might be a vote or two I would ask you to not participate in.
I could give it a look.

Idle question: Do the stats required to take on a mission provide a rough outline of the stat checks that will happen inside the mission itself? IE. because New Dawn had no Hit requirement, we won't be making any combat checks in that part of it?

As much as I want to just believe the optimistic take, I feel like the context behind New Dawn's demise makes me hesitant with that assessment. With how chaotic the situation is at University District, I feel inclined to believe we may get into a fight, otherwise how would it stop the organized assaults alone unless our sudden presence gave them enough of a pause to delay whatever they were doing. Now had this been Olympus Has Fallen, I would've been more inclined to believe it since it feels like the sort where negotiating and trade-dealings comes more into play. Not to say there wouldn't be any for New Dawn; we're officially forming an alliance with an old rival afterall, and I do believe that if there are any fighting, it would not be the complete focus of the update compared to the negotiation. I just don't wanna complete negate the possibility that there wouldn't be HIT checks in the context that New Dawn has. Don't want to completely let my guard down.

New Dawn is going to be a mission based around negotiating. There aren't any fights planned as of now. Those come later in this quest chain.

You can treat the stats as a rough guide as to what stat checks will show up the most in the mission itself.

  • [X] Plan: Squid Rings
-[X] Agree to fight Floating Venom Morpheme.
--[X] Black Swan takes potshots at FVM to lure it away from the Apiary, while Handyman and Menagerie Witch takes to the skies atop copies of Nevermore.
--[X] Handyman and Menagerie Witch should let Black Swan grab the monster's attention while they work on prematurely detonating bubbles via ranged attacks.
--[X] Everytime the bubbles are cleared, Black Swan should get close to the monster and output high-power beams at it, preferably on the spots that look like it contains organs, before retreating once the monster glows red and unleashes more bubbles.
[x] Agree to fight Floating Venom Morpheme.
    -[X] Plan: Divert And Blast
-[X] Lady Leizi will get into a good position and provide support via information.
-[X] Maddie, staying by Leizi, will create a large swarm of small Nevermore clones that will harrass FVM and draw attention.
-[X] Rhys and Mona will use the distraction to sneakily move onto the opposite side for a flank attack, with Mona focusing her energy on blasting FVM itself while Rhys throws bone arrows.
    [X] Plan: Return to Sender
-[X] Agree to fight Floating Venom Morpheme.
--[X] Black Swan takes potshots at FVM to lure it away from the Apiary, while Handyman and Menagerie Witch take to the skies atop copies of Nevermore.
--[X] Handyman turns into an air blower (propeller or bellow, whichever is best) and aims to gather a chain of bubbles leading back to FVM. Menagerie Witch will time a chain detonation with an FVM bubble release baited by Black Swan.
--[X] Black Swan follows up on chain detonations by flying close to the monster and blasting it at high power, preferably on the spots that look like they contain organs, before retreating so another chain can be set up.

Vote closed. Lotta ways this can play out. First, can I get a d20?
