Peril's Origin - A Magical Girl Quest [Complete]

-Absence of Light: Presence of Light and all of its derivatives are suppressed
-Supremacy of the Light: Automatically kills all Demons of Class 3 or lower that enter the same combat zone as Gabriel.
The update sounded like Absence of Light does block Supremacy of Light.
It also means Lu needs to be last to leave... and counter Gabriel.
Lu has a high chance to die here.

Also waiting on QM confirmation if we can buy Rage Against Fate :V

@Naron - checking so that we know for certain. Determined Soldier works by making us "invisible" to hostile auras and presences. Does this also work on Supremacy of the Light, and (since there was a precedent) does it mean that so long as Paoras is linked to us she is effectively immune to instant death from this? And am I right that she usually is subject to that instant death?

RE: Argent Star
Leveling up Argent Star to use against Fairies is indeed generally useless nowadays, because of Anti-Air and Purge working their magic. Not counting those with a counter, or just the super-prodigy kinds like that team Naron statted up in the worldbuilding thread. Similarly, I'm quite sure that Archangel Gabriel and Heaven's First Host will be clad into Armor of Light, making any attempts to splotch them futile.

On the other hand, sometime in the future a level 20 Argent Star will probably grow enough to splotch elite non-immune flyers with decent effectiveness. I'll be saving it for the next time we run into that Valkyrie Commander.

Your eyes wander from the scene in front of you to your surroundings, illuminated by fading sunlight. Large swaths of forest were trampled and burned within a single week. Large pits were dug for the attackers to hole up in, housing many more Demons than could normally fit in this much space. You can not see them from here, but you know that dozens of Hell Gates are active below the ground, spewing out more troops and taking others in as they are cycled out.

Argus leads the forces attacking the castles in a pincer attack while more battlegroups are pushing further into Valhalla. You heard that there are plans to crack the first castle in the following week.
Supreme Leader of the Unified Light, Grand Archangel and most powerful combatant the Light can field. Even five thousand years younger than at her peak, her gaze alone makes you shudder; it takes all of your will to keep yourself from casting the spell and fleeing; not from just this world but from this very time.

A sharp pain knocks you back to your senses, Paoras' panicked eyes right in front of yours; she slapped you. Lu is right next to you, weapon drawn. The camp breaks into disarray within moments; horns are blown while everyone scrambles to start a fighting retreat.

Magic begins to rain down, illuminating the artificial day in a myriad of colours.
@Naron - do I understand the disposition correctly?
1) In the sky, there are 8000+ Faeries raining down magic, 300+ Angels of probably higher caliber than your usual War Angels and Archangel Gabriel, who are going to be throwing down with Lucifer (and quite a few Dark Stars, and Hell Beasts as well most likely) this very moment
2) The landscape is a war camp that doesn't quite reach the level of desolation Faeries would consider acceptable to Meteor down. There are quite a few pits going down, with (probably) a warren of tunnels or something, deep enough below that merely landing on surface isn't going to allow an Angel's Presence of Light to kill off the demons below.
3) Somewhere within those tunnels, there are Hell Gates which our allied demons intend to use to escape (read - running retreat). Notably, Heidi cannot use those herself and would need to find another method for herself... Probably something to do with Dark Stars, with Voyage as the last option.
4) Somewhere on the surface, there will be General Argus. He is probably going to Conqueror's Wave a lot of Faeries, and thus invite quite a few Angels to his position, in short order.
5) It just so happens we need 3x Slayer-Kills to fulfill prerequisites for one of Heidi's Super Ability prereqs, and 3x kills to fulfill prerequisites for Anti-Infantry upgrade on our scythe. Also, merely switching off the lightsaber doesn't dispell the Boost-Weapon enchantment on it.

Heidi herself, as I understand, has the following priorities
1) Paoras - her teammate for this debacle, Heidi wants to keep her safe, and Paoras wants to keep Heidi safe
2) Orux - her boyfriend, Heidi wants to make sure he leaves the location alive
3) Mokutuuk and Dragul - because these two matter to Paoras and Orux
4) (NOT APPLICABLE) Lucifer - who is going to be throwing down with that entire host of enemies, and rely on Gabriel's presence to maintain combat effectiveness.
5) (NOT APPLICABLE) Argus - who is the ranking officer in this invasion and of course Heidi is going to find him to get her orders like she always does. Pfft, she isn't Tanya the Evil.
---5) (more seriously) Heidi might be able to make a difference by getting to Argus and throwing down with the Angels... Unless they have higher flight speed than she can handle, and make no mistake these are elite forces, higher than average speed is almost to be expected.
6) Heidi herself - while there's no notes about Epsilon Aaron or others of Maia's family being involved, Heidi needs to have her own way out. She cannot use Hell Gates. She'll need Dark Stars to give her a lift.

So. Here's the tentative plan.

[] Plan Ordered Retreat
-[] First of all. Find Mokutuuk and use him as a mount. He flies faster than you can run, probably. Boost yourself with Paradox Charge, with your Lightsaber present. You will need it to intercept attacks on yourself and on Moku.
-[] Secure your own retreat. Probably with the Dark Stars - so find out where the Dark Stars are staging a teleport-out. Preferrably convince them to provide teleportation within the tunnels, but close to the entrances so evacuees can reach them with relative ease. Make sure they know you are also going to go with them, and ascertain if they can teleport out with you, Paoras and Moku if necessary.
-[] Find Orux and Dragul if they're in the camp, and make sure they get to evacuation sites.
-[] Help cover the retreat to the Hell Gates while you're flying around, and don't forget to evacuate yourself, Paoras and Moku. With Dark Stars preferrably. Try and kill at least three enemies with your lightsaber while you're at it. Maybe by intercepting their attacks with the lightsaber. If need be, bait the enemy by throwing up some Argent Star.
--[] If for some reason any other options to dimensionally escape becomes unfeasible (including there being no open Hell Gates to get at least Moku out), try and escape into the wilds.
--[] If all else fails and you or your teammates are going to be overtaken by Angels and their Presences, with no way out or reinforcements in sight... If you are desperate enough and have no other options... Have Paoras keep close to Mokutuuk, literally wrap yourself all over Paoras, and cast Voyage while willing yourself to go to Charon's Keep and to Maya (with her tiny faerie girls still being tiny), and try to push the gate wide enough that everyone fits in.

Mind you, the only reason I'm mentioning Voyage in the vote is because Adelheid was almost panicking enough to consider casting it to escape.
I haven't mentioned Lu or Argus in the plan... Frankly I think that both of them ought to have their own ways out of this situation, and both will be fighting a bit above what we could handle.
Also, I'm still relying on Paoras to have her Mana Battery, so the spell should have 12000+ boost for us.

That is how Determined Soldier works, yes. It works on all kinds of auras and presences except, maybe, Overwhelming Presence. Supremacy of the Light is not exempt.

You are also correct in that it protects Paoras, and that she would get auto-killed by it. I think; I feel she is not yet on Class 4 level, but Lost or Crys may think otherwise.

Gabriel is not yet in the same battlezone as Heidi, though. Too far away to target anything on the ground.

1) Yes to the first part; Heaven's First Host is the elite of the elite. Lu is right next to Heidi right now though, so no throwing down with Gabriel in a moment.
2) No meteors, and Presence of Light is currently negated by Lu; the rest is about right.
3) Correct.
4) Maybe?
5) Correct.

About right.

Heidi did not recharge Pao's mana battery.

That aside... I feel I really should have put it into the chapter after all, but figured it would not be necessary.

No write-ins.

This is not a big micro-vote, it is supposed to be straight-forward. Moreover, Heidi is not in a state of mind to formulate any elaborate plans. She can only choose between "Run Away Fast" and "Run Away A Little Slower".

I am sorry that this makes the time you spent on writing this up wasted, but I did not expect to see long plans for this vote.

I just realized how fast 'run away fast' is
I wonder if we are breaking any speed records here, because that is a lot of actions per turn.

Not yet, I am afraid. Just as Gabriel is not yet close enough to instant kill stuff on the ground, Heidi is also not close enough to the enemy forces to get boosts.

The lack of Determined Soldier in the active effects is not an oversight.

and since that damn Valkyrie noticed that Heidi's effect scales with combatants it'd make sense for the enemy to send some elites after Heidi and hold the rabble back.

That is if they'd even account for her in this battle and don't have bigger fish to fry e.g. Argus.

I'm not feeling the need to pick fights with the flying foes so much as the need to be elsewhere with Paoras, Orux, and maybe Dragul

Allied Forces:
-About a billion demonic soldiers
-Several tens of thousands of Hellbeasts and assorted fliers
-About ten thousand Dark Stars
-General Argus
-Lucifer

Enemy Forces:
-Archangel Gabriel
-Heaven's First Host (300)
-Fairy Home Realms (8,200)
Okay, no offense to anyone, but I would like to draw attention to this.

Namely, these parts specifically:
-About a billion demonic soldiers
-Heaven's First Host (300)
We have roughly a billion or so demons on the field.

... And Heaven only sent 300 Angels.

Think about that.

I don't want to come off as insulting or anything, but as she is, if Heidi tries to do anything but run right now the most she'll do is probably die painfully.

The First Host is Heaven's Elite of the Elite. Aside from Gabriel, there are at least nine or more Archangels in that line up alone. Gabriel simply stands out because the reputation she has for Heidi. She won't be as strong as she is in mainline, sure, but this is still Gabriel. The Light's Ultimate Combatant. The Avatar of Light. Heidi auto-crit-failed her willpower roll on Gabriel's arrival to the point she needed someone to slap her back to her senses.

And alongside those nine other Archangels there's going to be minimum of one more Grand Archangel of comparable power to Michael in Mainline. And each of the non-archangel combatants in that group will be far and above beyond a regular Angel. The First Host never has and never will grow more than a Thousand individuals for the simple fact few angels ever make it that high in personal power.

So there is no fighting here, because there is no victory here for Heidi. We stand and fight, we'll be nothing more than another number in a statistic.

So...

So basically, even though the UD would expect a visious counterstrike to the invasion, this is a far more extreme reaction than they planned for?

That they've probably got some bigger fish than Argus ready to portal in, but not big enough to answer this?

High chances are at the time they were expecting something similar, just not this fast. Regardless, not really our problem because our group is too weak even if the UD had something in the area to fight.

[X] Help cover the retreat to the Hell Gates!

I see this essentially meaning throwing Conundrum on our friends and taking potshots with Argent Star as we run the fuck away

Due to @Skyblade64 working hard for it on Discord, a passive exploit for Argent Star's Anti-Air was unearthed. Though, technically, it is somewhere between exploit and actual mechanic.
-Anti-Air counts every use of the Flight-Ability, even if the user remains on the ground while doing so or creates another effect with it entirely; in particular, ongoing soft exploits of Flight trigger it as well.
