Try and balance your crippling trauma with superheroing.

Attempt to not get killed by the evil conspiracies that are all around.

Make friends despite being a human weapon.

Character Generation 0.1: THE WORLD

THE WORLD IS IN DANGER, AND SOMEBODY MUST PROTECT IT.

Huh? You've heard similar words over and over again by this point?

Well then, that's fine. I'll start again.

THE WORLD IS IN DANGER, THREATENED BY EVIL, AND THERE MUST BE SOMEBODY TO PROTECT IT.

AND THEY DO SAY THAT WHEREVER THERE IS EVIL, THERE ARE MAGICAL GIRLS.

BRAVE WOMEN, FIGHTING FOR LOVE, AIDED BY MAGICAL FORCES TO PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVASTATION.

YET THEY ALSO SAY THAT WHEREVER THERE IS EVIL, EVEN IF THERE IS NO GOD OR BUDDHA TO PREVENT IT… THERE WILL BE KAMEN RIDERS.

BRAVE MASKED WARRIORS, FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE. BORN FROM EVIL, YET CHOOSING TO FIGHT FOR HUMAN LIFE.

They fight for similar reasons, don't they? But they always fight separately, in different ways. They're practically in different worlds.

Well, until now, I suppose.

IT WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIGHT ON TO PROTECT THIS WORLD, AS ONE OF THOSE MYSTERIOUS HEROES. YOU WILL ALSO BE ACCOMPANIED BY YOUR COUNTERPART, NO MATTER WHO THAT PERSON IS. WHETHER YOU RISE TO MEET THE CHALLENGE OR FALL DOWN INTO THE DIRT IS UP TO YOU.

And I am so sorry you cannot escape the horrible fate that was ordained for you the second you chose to be a hero.

But I'm getting much ahead of myself. If you're here, you've forgotten something and fallen into a dream, haven't you? Very well then. I normally wouldn't do this, but…

I'll try to give you a heads up about what you're getting into. Tell me, how do you see the world from up above? I'm curious— I've never been there myself, you see. Call it a selfish request of mine, but can you let me see what you've seen?

(Your character generation will be divided up into four parts. The one you're on is where the details of this world will be fleshed out. Then you'll pick your character's, and in turn your Counterpart's Archetype (what they can transform into). Afterwards, you'll customize your perks and then your Counterpart's build. Character generation will not preserve points between each part— unless cautioned otherwise. Good luck, and feel free to ask questions. You'll need it.)

Blessings. (Advancements)

This world has so many wonderful things that you'll get to see. I hope that you'll enjoy all of it. Now, tell me about the world I always wished I could see.

(Pick the world's Advancements, which will benefit everybody, Rider or MG. For each perk picked, gain a certain amount of points. These will be used in the next section, for the more good is brought into the world, the more bad must follow. You may only amass a total of 7 points, and you must have a minimum of 3 points. Pick only one from each section.)

What are the unique achievements of this world?

This world has its own unique features, and I've had the pleasure of getting to know it very well, so I think I can do this first part. You see, what's special about this world is what society discovered as the first half of the millennium ended…

[ ] (0) …It's seemingly perfectly, utterly normal.
Um, wait, can I check my notes again?

Really? Wow, that's sad.

Well, it seems that you'll just have to deal with a normal civilian life. Sorry.

[The world is, on the surface, equivalent to the real life world circa 2024. No special bonuses, ??? may happen later]

[ ] (1) …It's advancing into the future, step by step.

Yes. Thanks to the help of President Aruto of Hiden Enterprises 20 years ago, the world began to integrate AI into its daily operations. Now, the organized AI robots known as Humagears are recognized as sentient citizens, and are efficient and respected workers in almost every facet of life. Well, except for the creative arts. That's still left up to humans.

With the AI revolution done and finished, humanity looks towards a brighter, cleaner future. Enjoy it. Because the future is right around the corner.

[Humagears, special androids and AI, will appear. Easier upgrades to equipment. All Kamen Riders receive increased starting stats.]

[ ] (2) …It's reached an incredible state, considered the ideal science fiction future.

It's incredible out there, you know. The apartments alone would make somebody from twenty years ago wonder if they were transported to a world of someone's imagination. But it's not fiction, it's real. In the streets, people walk around with bodies modified to cater to every whim. Teleportation is about as expensive as a taxi from back when we still used those. It may seem normal to you, but it's quite interesting from my point of view.

And in the continent-spanning communities and megacities that work together to build a shared future, a new project is being discussed. Humongous robots, as large as 10,000 men. Iron giants that can be seen from all over the world, all built to protect the wonderful beings called "humanity."

[Gain all upgrades from "advancing into the future". Setting is like cyberpunk but nicer. Think Magical Index. Majorly increased starting stats for Kamen Riders. Become able to access Cybernetic Augments. (Artificial Being/Humagear) becomes a possible origin in the next section.]
[Gain possible access to the (Mecha: Metallic Giants) upgrade later.]

[ ] (1) …Magic is slowly becoming part of daily life.

Humanity doesn't seem to know how it happened. And they don't know what it is, though they're definitely working on it. But twenty years ago, a new power source was discovered. Glyphs, magic circles brimming with the energy of the elements of nature. Now, combined with Runes; crystalized memories that can be traded and replicated, magic is no longer something confined to the imagination. It's seen as humanity's pathway forward, a new clean source of energy and something to be used by everyone.

And in the shadows, the spirits that once haunted Tokyo hundreds of years ago are beginning to reawaken. How will the world change now, I wonder?

[Basic classes in Magic will appear in school, if you're at that age. Easier upgrades to stats. Yokai may appear. All Magical Girls receive increased starting stats.]

[ ] (2) …Magic is absolutely integrated into the world.

Magic isn't anything new to your world, you say? How wonderful-- reminds me a bit of where I came from. Yokai, elves, dwarves, humans… if you can think of a race or spell, it's probably in Tokyo. It's been like that for a long time, I suppose, 200 years or more. What a spectacular, fantastical world.

[Setting becomes pure Urban Fantasy. Think Touhou or FMA. Majorly increased starting stats for Magical Girls. Become able to access instant and pre readied Magic. (Magical Being/Yokai) becomes a possible origin in the next section.]
[Gain possible access to the (Spirit Animals: Creatures Of Soul) upgrade later.]

[ ] (2) …Magic and technology are starting to advance, in unison.

Magic has been around for about twenty years. So have Humagears and true AI, though they got better around… ten years ago, you say? Intriguing. The future is moving forward, with both magic and technology. Only time will tell how this strange mixture of fantasy and futurism will turn out.

[Gain the benefits of "Magic is slowly becoming part of daily life" and "advancing into the future"]
[Later on, gain access to the powers of Alchemy and Magitech.]

Who are these "Riders" and "Magical Girls"?

Well, you probably already figured out that they're heroes that fight for good, and some other things.

What I think you really want to hear about is how the public sees them. Because from what you've just told me, the world at large sees them as…

[ ] (0) Mysterious Heroes
Kamen Riders. Magical Girls. The world knows that they exist. The world knows that they protect people from the monsters that they can't fight on their own.

Um, and the world doesn't know much more than that.

You see, Kamen Riders and Magical Girls have always appeared, did their thing, then disappeared. No overarching themes or organizations that the average citizen can see. Just nonstop fighting for a few months out of the year, then gone. Maybe you'll break that trend.

[No special bonuses.]

[ ] (1) Secret Societies

Now, Magical Girls? Kamen Riders? I believe everybody knows about them, the technicolor explosions and sparkles tend to be obvious. But nobody knows where they come from. The government couldn't track them if they tried. But everyone knows that they exist, and that they work together. It's not uncommon to see Kamen Riders come back after years to help out their juniors, and themed Magical Girl squads of three to five. Maybe you'll find out how they're connected.

[There are organizations for Magical Girls and Kamen Riders respectively. However, you'll have to get to them yourself.]

[ ] (2) An Unveiled Masquerade

Magical Girls and Kamen Riders aren't employed by the government, but they've always been supported by the government. This was probably because of a long line of boring political things that neither you or I really want to get into, so I just recommend accepting this as your status quo.

If you want to hide your identity, that should work out. But both the bureaucrats up top and your fellow heroes are always looking out for you, and will make sure that you've got backup during your toughest fights. Whether that be your struggles against the monsters terrorizing Japan's civilians or your struggles with the mundane daily life afterwards.

[The military will show up after some time to help out with monster fights. Aside from that, you'll have full choice on whether you want to reveal your identity, and free government benefits. (Money!)]

And what do these two types of heroes think of each other?

Ah, I also want to know how both those sides cooperate. Slow down while you're talking please, I need to grab a notebook…

[ ] (0) They don't know the other exists./They work alone.
"Magical Girls stay on their side." "Kamen Riders keep to their own business." That's just what they say.

There's no inter-organization communication between magical girls and Kamen Riders. They're not exactly enemies, but they're not too friendly either. Maybe it's the fact that a lot of Kamen Riders have a lot of shady connections. Maybe it's the fact that there's a lot of middle and high schoolers putting their lives on the line as magical girls. Maybe it's both. Probably both.

[Kamen Riders and Magical Girls work separately. No special bonuses.]

[ ] (1) Friendly (?) Rivals

There's a bit of friction between the two types of hero. Maybe it's just a natural thing, especially when one group has sparkles and friendship while the other can murder a grown man with a punch, but I digress. Besides, with the exception of a few people, most Kamen Riders and magical girls seem to be nice enough.

[Riders and Magical Girls work together sometimes, but disagree on some of their methods for fighting evil. Most of the time, relationships are cordial, but there are some people that have… not the best opinion of the other side.]

[ ] (2) Partners In Good

Love. Justice. Both of those faraway ideals are two sides of the same coin. Both the Riders and the magical girls have agreed on this. As such, they fight for Love and Justice together, whether that be on the battlefield, or during daily life. It's always nice to have a friend, Isn't it?

[Riders and magical girls work together; your PC will know that your counterpart is a Magical Girl or Kamen Rider before the story starts.]

This seems very challenging, and a bit overwhelming. Is there anybody that can help me?

Well, I actually don't know that. Could you tell me about some of the people you know? Ok, we can work with that…

[ ] (0) You'll have your own friends to rely on. Normal friends.
You'll have to find your own people to help you in this strange, weird world. Nobody else, but nobody less. They'll help you out as much as possible. I wish you the best of luck.

[Only original characters will appear in this quest, no other special effects.]

[ ] (1) You'll have some assistance from learned heroes.

You've probably figured it out by now, but you're definitely not the first one to participate in this whole hero business. Try and see what other heroes, your seniors, can teach you.

[If any option is picked where, for some reason, large groups of heroes are able to work together, you may sometimes have characters from magical girl anime and Kamen Rider cameo to help you out.]

[ ] (2) There are heroes from the past that you can learn from. You'll just have to find them first.

Takeshi Hongo. Hiden Aruto. Shouma Inoue.

Usagi Tsukino. Madoka Kaname. Sakura Kinomoto.

You might know those names. You might not. But just like you, they were heroes in their own right. They may or may not remember their experiences because of
certain things, but they will still serve as valuable mentors for the tribulations to come.

[Multiple characters from throughout Tokusatsu and magical girl history will appear in this world. While they will not be able to always help you fight, due to certain reasons, they will still serve as valuable mentors and role models.]

Disasters. (Uh oh.)

It seems like a wonderful place to live, right? Hopefully you like this world, because it's the only one you've got. Protect it with your everything.

Now, I hope you don't currently think that everything was going to be fun and games. Because if you did, I've got bad news. For every blessing, there must be an equal amount of disaster. That's simply how the world works.

Now, as you can imagine, there's a mastermind behind all of these things. Unfortunately, you cannot change that. But you can know what you will be fighting. Here, let me grab my notes…

(Tally up your points now. If they're more than seven, go back and choose again.)

IF YOU AMASSED 3 POINTS, TAKE ONE DISASTER.
IF YOU AMASSED 5 POINTS, TAKE TWO DISASTERS.
IF YOU AMASSED 7 POINTS, TAKE THREE DISASTERS.

[ ] Giants of Hell
They disappeared 25 years ago. They were giants. Creatures that could have swallowed the sun whole. They came in many names. Mothra, King Ghidora… and the almighty Godzilla.

These creatures were called Kaiju. A fitting name. Until recently, it was believed that they were extinct, but one does not simply kill a kaiju. How can you kill a concept? A god? All we can do is simply wait for those beasts to awaken again.

[Bosses of each season and each arc will come with their very own personalized kaiju. These horrifying beasts will take specific preparations and terrifying sacrifices to defeat. There are very few things that can fight off kaiju easily, but perhaps going with a Mecha could even the tide…]

[ ] Hearts Unjustly Tainted

I can't tell you everything about the force pulling the strings. Believe me, I wish I could. But there's a voice out there, talking to everybody, telling them that they can be worse, that they can be monsters. All they have to do is let go and indulge in their worst vices, and their deepest wishes will be granted. Eventually, someone's going to listen, and I don't want to know what'll happen then…

[Distortions, monsters born from mental breakdowns can start appearing. Unlike normal monsters, you won't be able to face them with pure force. You'll have to know the person and reach their heart to bring them down from their breakdown.]
[Also, Distortions won't just be random people off the street. They could be your friends, your family members. Who knows?]

[ ] Dark Mirrors

I know that with everything I've told you, you may have the impression that there's almost infinite good in the world out there, just waiting to be found. And there is. But there are other Kamen Riders and Magical Girls out there. And well… not everyone uses great power with great responsibility. I know, it's horrible.

[Evil Kamen Riders and evil Magical Girls will start being deployed by the antagonists. They will match you in every single way, and perhaps surpass you in some areas. Defeating even one of those dark mirrors will take not only skill, but an understanding of yourself, your powers, and your weaknesses.]

[ ] Beings From Beyond The Stars

The world is so much bigger than you know. Stars upon stars… I've seen them both inside my heart and outside in the world. But there are some beings out there who're just as intelligent as humanity. And unfortunately, just as greedy. Good luck.

[Aliens are real and they're your problem now. They may range from a civilization of soldiers that hate Earth for no reason to beings you will never be able to comprehend.]

[ ] Puppet Masters From The Shadows

SHOCKER. "Sustainable Happiness Organization with Computational Knowledge Embedded Remodeling."

I can't put this in any other way that doesn't sound as blunt as a dumbbell, so here I go. They're a fucking hedonism cult, and also a nation-wide conspiracy. People thought that the legendary first Kamen Rider, Takeshi Hongo, and later the just as famed Sailor Moon, Usagi Tsukino, both took SHOCKER down before they disappeared. But SHOCKER was never truly defeated.

It might not be obvious, but in their last breaths, they placed sleeper agents
everywhere. In your businesses, in your secret organizations, even inside the government. SHOCKER has been sleeping for years. And now, the sleeping giant shall wake.

[Certain segments of the government will try to antagonize you and brand you a criminal. Aside from that, certain businesses will keep surveillance on you and try to jack up the prices of all the cool stuff.]

Hm. So that's the world that you live in. It's not perfect, but I really do think it's a wonderful place.

That is, if you're willing to fight for it.

Win for me, alright? Not just against the disasters and monsters out there, and not just against the people that'll try and put you down. Do your best to win the world a happy life. One where nobody has to fight monsters.

Hah, I doubt you can even hear me that well. Don't worry, I'm not insulted.

Besides, when we meet, and I mean really meet, not just these hazy dreams, you'll just remember this as a fever dream or night terror. And I won't remember you.

Goodbye, Noble.

YOU SLEEP TODAY A REGULAR MORTAL.

TOMORROW, YOU SHALL WAKE A HERO ORDAINED BY FATE. A NOBLE.

I'm sorry. I believe in you.

Please win. For love. For justice.

For those wonderful beings called humanity.

6:11 PM
Your Place, Tokyo

You wake up in your apartment, nestled away in a tiny corner of Tokyo. As you awaken, you're covered in a cold sweat, terrified for some reason that you can't remember.

Just what were you dreaming about?

Author's Note:

Hello there. If you're reading this, you're reading the rewritten version of this intro segment. You can find the original version from a few months ago here, but I don't recommend it. If you know me from my other Quest (Space Oddity), welcome back! I hope I won't disappoint you.

And if you don't know me, the name's Kermie. No relation to the Muppet. Remember it, because I'll be the one you can talk to if you want your questions about this story answered. Just hit me up with an @. This Quest was born from my love for both Tokusatsu and the magical girl genre, so I hope that you all love it as much as I do. I've got some wild plans for later, so sit back and enjoy this crazy adventure. Now, hit the arrow down there to continue to the next part of the character creation, or click here to get into the story segments proper.

Character Sheet

Name: Rei Maruki (AKA: Striker Roze)
Personality: Brash yet Calculating
Past: Ex-Assassin

Rider Theme: Duel Spirit Manifestation
Level 7: EXP (450/1250)

Health: (25/30)

Stats:

Physical: 30
Social: 26
Mental: 30
Technical: 20
Magical: 28

Perks:
[Break Down]

Your powers are unstable. Unreliable.

But that just means they're much more powerful than some run of the mill hero.
[EXP gain x1.5. Form Change stat boost extended to one action after the transformation.]

[Sentient Powers]

The cards that you found, your transformation trinkets? They're alive, and they want to help you in any way they can.
[Your powers are sentient, and will attempt to give advice at the end of each update on how they see the situation. At higher levels, they may even be able to fight as Kamen Riders of their own…]

[Pressure Points]

Your old Assassin's Guild training always had a small section focused on anatomy. If certain points are hit on a body, you can do a lot more damage…
[Crit Threshold lowered to 90 during combat.]

[Inner Focus]

Don't you dare die. Not yet. Not until those you love are safe.
[At 20 HP or Less, you take -2 damage from all sources. You cannot take more than 10 damage at a time while under 20 Health.]

[Reshuffled]

What can be broken down can be built back up, and pieced back together. Fix the deck of fate, and you'll be able to break even the Void with your iron fists!
(Or: holy shit, your powers are beginning to punch things as hard as you specifically want them to!)

[Physical/Mental has reached its max improvement for now. Once per Week, when a Physical or Mental check or attack is failed, Rei may reroll that failed check. (Gain other levels of Reshuffled to gain something else…)]

Traits:
[Monstrous Composition]

The events that were realized on you turned you into a monster, physically while transformed and mentally outside. Thankfully, you still want to be a half decent person, so you just come off as very grumpy.

[No Secret Society will take you in, (yet…) but none of the baddies will try to jump you unless provoked. (With some exceptions…) Gain a variable bonus on all intimidation checks.]

[A Monster Seeking Kindness]

Your first promise. To protect those who stand behind you, even if it means going to hell and back. And to face any who stand against you, even if they come from the hell you once ran away from.

[-??? to rolls with either Secret Society. Any enemy attempting to roll to manipulate Rei with either words or mental effects must roll with disadvantage.]

Flaw:
[Those Who Cannot Change]

The power inside you is a raging torrent, an all-devouring beast— if you do not take a firm hold of it, it'll destroy you entirely.
[Rei will be able to make write-ins, but if she kills too many enemies or comes into close contact with the Void, she may enter the Void Burst state, making her temporarily lose her mind.]
[You may only pop two Form Changes each scene, not counting ones triggered by [Awakening].]
M1 Silenced Pistol "Shinigami"
The one thing you were able to sneak out of your assassin training during your desperate escape. A silenced pistol from the armory, and a damn good one at that.

(Can only be used twice per combat.)

Condition: Almost Brand New (1 use before condition degrades.)
Grade: 3
Attack Roll Type: Mental
Damage: d20 Piercing Damage

Special Traits:
Concealed:
-This weapon can be always carried around you in public, since it's always hidden.

Lethal Weapon:
-On rolling over DC by 20 or more while aiming at a (Civilian) or (Mook) target, instantly kills the target.
Always available, in any form. Cannot be recharged.

Body Recalibration
(Usable once per combat)

Only usable at 50% or less HP.

Halve the damage from the next enemy attack. Roll 2d10+8, and then heal by that much. (May get better when you reach levels 10, 14 and others…)

Inner Focus
(Passive)

At 20 HP or Less, you take -2 damage from all sources. You cannot take more than 10 damage at a time while under 20 Health.

Spirit Commune
DC: 70, Magical
(Usable once per Combat)

As an additional cost to use this move, lose 5 Health.

Take a turn to manifest your current Rider Form's Spirit as a summon. This Spirit has stats and health calculated by the stat boosts their rider form gives you. This summon stays around for 2 (3 on Crit) turns, and will act independently using the moves they have.

On successfully using this move, you may have a free Form Change. (However, Break Down's stat buff does not trigger.)

Trigger Void Burst!
Magical, Two Times Per Combat
DC: 50/70

Activate Void Burst of your own volition- but focus yourself this time. On success, Rei enters the powerful Void Burst state for two-three turns, but she's able to control herself and distinguish friend from foe. Cannot be used while Void Burst is on cooldown. Also gives Rei +30 Awakening!
See "Magic and Tech" for specific details on these Spells.

1. Fluidity Of Water
DC 35,
Active
3 Uses Remaining

2. [Empty Spell Slot]

3. [Empty Spell Slot]
Current Amount of Capital: 4
(Capital is the amount of spendable money you have.)

Glyphs:
Void

Fire x1
Water x0
Earth x1
Air x1

Memories:
Killing
Changing
Teamwork
Step

Consumable Items:
Convenient Bug

Deck Of Darkness
A deck of cards that appeared to you after you were pulled through the void. It appears to contain both Atry and Gargoyle in the form of cards, and some others.
It seems to be able to manifest your new Rider Powers in conjunction with the Void Glyph. While it's definitely tainted by the Void, the spirits inside likely would have died if not for the fact that they clung to you. Aside from that, it looks like you'll need to meet more people in order to give you more spirits…
[MORE INFORMATION TO BE DISCOVERED]

Void Glyph
A mysterious glyph that seemed to find you after you were tossed into the void. It seems to be inscribed directly into your hand, which should be impossible. It also increases your bloodlust.

You've realized that it's a manifestation of the Void, and that it can be suppressed with focus. Now, it serves as a "battery" of sorts for your rider powers.
[MORE INFORMATION TO BE DISCOVERED]

Hero Distress Signal
An app in your phone, downloaded by Takeshi. It allows you to send out a distress signal to any Kamen Riders or Magical Girls in an area. While you're normally averse to working with others outside of Akemi and Himari, it could be helpful later.
[Can be used as a free action during combat, once per Week. Does not work during a main story mission or when your phone isn't working. KRs or MGs may take 1-3 turns to actually get to your location.]

One-Time Shonai Teleport Charm

A small charm, given to you by Fuji. Apparently, it can teleport you and one other person to the Shonai Peninsula Settlement when you crush it. It's one hell of a trip there, but considering that you've been teleported to Kyoto before, it's not impossible.

It's inscribed with the kanji for "sea, magic," and "return". Very subtle, guys.

[MORE INFORMATION TO BE DISCOVERED]
Archmages
-Receive +3 Capital each week.
-Gain room for 1 extra Rumor questline.
-Any "learn magic" actions now have a lowered DC.
-The Archmages will be helping out on Awakening Day.
-Certain Missions in this Arc have changed.

-Complete these Major Actions to increase your standing and benefits from this group.
—Introductions: KR Solflare
—Introductions: Apollo and Artemi
—Introductions: Psyche and KR Wiseman
-Takeshi Ishinomori has been gained as a Contact.

Mechanics
Rolls:
In this quest, everything that isn't an encounter table is decided by a d100, a virtual dice with 100 numbers.

When our character comes across a challenge, they'll roll against a number representing the difficulty of that challenge, a DC (Difficulty Check) Rolling higher passes the check and our character succeeds, while rolling lower fails.

Critical rolls are insane successes, or insane failures. They are naturally rolled (no modifiers) 95-100 and 5-1 respectively.

A Nat 100 (a naturally rolled 100) always succeeds and gives you something extra, and Nat 1 always fails catastrophically.

Getting close to the DC by 10 or less is a Near Failure. You almost got it, but you were just a bit far off. The DC is halved if the task is repeatable.

70+: Archmage
Actions:
You have a certain amount of Major and Minor actions each turn, usually three each, though that may change depending on what's been happening in the story so far. You may replace a Major Action with a Minor action, but not the other way around.

You can also take up to two more actions in each category, Major and Minor, but I will leave the consequences of doing so up to you to discover.

In case you're getting Deja vu, that's because part of this system actually comes from another VERY well known quest. "Persona HEAVEN", by afreaknamedpete. Don't worry, I got permission from him to use this.

Burnout:
HIDDEN -
Fuck around (take actions over the limit) and you'll find out.

Capital
Your amount of Capital is equivalent to how much money you have. Don't worry about living costs— this is just the money that Rei feels like she can spend short term.

In your head, you can equate 1 unit of Capital as equal to $100 for now.

Magic:
As a free action each week, you'll be able to craft a Spell with Kira. If you don't want to only craft one spell, it will cost one Minor Action per extra spell per week.

Each spell consists of three parts: A Memory, a Purpose, and a Glyph.

Memories will be gained either through the natural progression and milestones of the story, or by taking the Minor Mental Action (Recall Memory). Memories will either significantly boost or worsen the next part.

A Purpose is what you want the spell to do— this will be decided via a write in.

You'll find unused Glyphs after fights or by buying them. When you choose a fitting Glyph, it may or may not bestow an elemental effect upon the spell that'll give it better properties.

The final effect of the spell will be decided by the QM. While Glyphs and Memories that have higher synergy with the Purpose will get you a better potency of Spell, if you're able to argue in thread what you're picturing, I might make it better.

(Now, discussion doesn't just motivate the QM, it motivates the character as well!)

Finally, you'll name the Spell. One word names, please!

And finally, once that's done, you'll get a Spell, which will either be Active (combat) or Passive (activated to give a small Perk at the start until the end of each week). Every Spell has limited usages, and once those are gone, it breaks. (But Kira may be willing to remake it for a price that was cheaper than first creating it.)

Tech:
When using tech of any sort that belongs to you, you must make a roll on tech. If that tech roll is below 10, after using that function of the tech, it permanently breaks. If the weapon comes from Kamen Rider powers, it's just unusable for the rest of combat.

The type of dice used varies depending on the condition of the object. If it's brand new, you don't have to roll. If it's well functioning, you roll a d100. If it's almost rusting… you'll roll with a d10.

Buying Tech:
Tech is divided into six Grades, which represent how powerful and useful it is. From highest to lowest, the grades are:

??? (Grades 7 and up. This is currently unavailable.)
Superweapon (Grade 6)
Rider/Hero Level (Grade 5)
Military Grade (Grade 4)
Average Weapon (Grade 3)
Scientific Curiosity (Grade 2)
Civilian Tech (Grade 1)

Depending on your current highest Grade of Tech and to a lesser extent, your Relationship Level with him, Nakayama will offer different things in his shop each week. (Determined by background rolls.) After a while, you may also ask to upgrade your weapons, but that's for later.

Rider Form Weapons do not count for Highest Grade, so don't ask.

Magitech:
Not encountered yet.

Black Market
In the Black Market, you will be able to buy two things: Illegal Goods and Intel. Illegal goods work like Kira and Nakamura's offerings, in that they're free actions where you can spend capital in order to get some goodies. Just like in those two shops, spending more personal with Jun can also give you more features, such as bringing back old offerings.

Intel however, can get you some of the plans for one of the many factions working in the background. Alternatively, you can get some info on specific subjects, such as certain KRs, MGs, or people.

Intel will roll a background Mental roll with advantage for Jun, and he will then relay you the info he found at the beginning of next week.

Be wary however. Buying too many things of either type will increase your Heat, which tracks your chances of being noticed by the criminal world you tried so hard to get away from,

Heat can be decreased by not buying from the Black Market for a week or two.

Projects
Projects will usually be demarcated with a (x/y progress) label in their action. When rolling for a project, the character doing it will roll a d100 and add their modifier of the relevant stat.

When a roll (counting modifiers) is over 100, the dice explode and another d100 is rolled to add to the progress. Projects can have multiple parts, and are completed when the progress bar reaches its limit.
Initiative:
At the beginning of combat, everybody rolls a flat d20. The higher the number, the faster you go in the turn order.

Scenes And Turns:
One update of fighting is a Scene. One round of everybody taking an action in initiative order is a Turn.

Extra Actions:
When Rei is outnumbered at least 4 to 1, she'll get one action per turn for every two enemies.

This may change depending on how many allies you have.

Attack DC:
Most attacks will have a DC, that changes depending on how difficult it would be to land that attack. Landing within 10 short of that DC will give half damage (rounded down), while under that will have the attack miss.

All your attacks rely on Physical unless said otherwise.

Weakness:
When enemies or allies are hit by something that they are particularly weak too, they'll take x1.5 damage, rounded to the nearest whole number. There are also resistances, so watch out for that!

Crit Hits:
Roll 95 or higher (not counting your buffs) and your attack will deal double damage. (Crit Multiplier applies after weakness multiplier.)

Over Damage:
When rolling to attack, rolling over the DC by 10 or more gives +1 damage for each 10 you were above the DC. This can increase with time. Over Damage is only able to add a + modifier equal to 1/2 of the moves base rolled damage. So if you rolled an 18 on the damage, Over Damage can only bring it up to 27.

Special Moves:
Certain moves, such as that Scythe of Sorrow, can only be used a certain number of times per scene. Check your character sheet to see how many times you can do each move,

Finishing Moves:
Finishing Moves MUST be used as a character's last move in a Turn, and the character will be unable to move during their next action if the Finishing Move does not kill or similar.

If a character has multiple actions, they must use their finishing move in their last action.

EXP
C'mon, you've played video games. You know what this is.

Health
If this hits zero, you'll either be knocked out or straight up die, depending on how hard you were hit.

At the end of combat, each Hero's health will be restored by half their max. The rest stays around in your civ form.

Leftover damage from combat cannot take your civilian form's health below 1.

Tutorial: Void Burst
When she casts Void-aligned Spells, when an enemy is killed by her, or when ???, Rei makes a Social Roll, DC 10. On success, the DC for that increases by 10, while on failure, she enters the Void Burst state for 3 turns. (After Void Burst wears off, Rei may not use it for the rest of the Scene.)

During this state, all Void spells gain new effects, and Rei gains a buff to all her stats except for Social, which you gain a debuff to. She also goes pretty crazy, only barely being able to distinguish friend from foe. The stat buff is equal to 5+your current level x2. So that would be a +13 to every stat except for Social, which takes a -13 instead. Rei may also take an extra action each turn, at the cost of paying 5 Health per extra action.

Rei may also choose to enter the Void Burst state on command as a DC-less action during combat. This may have some uses later on.
Relationship Levels:
Relationship and Reputation Levels are an attempt to quantify something that cannot be quantified, and so the mechanics behind them are difficult to specify and elaborate on. However, there are several levels that indicate general closeness:

Level 0 is on the level of general politeness and acquaintance, with little emotional depth or interaction. Most neutral or distant relationships are here.

Level 1 is on the level of friendships or possibly newly budding relationships, generally the honeymoon period of a new relationship or a generally cordial but not especially intimate bond. Friendships usually stay here.

Level 2 indicates good friends or a deeper bond, where secrets start to be shared and walls start being torn down. Family tends to be here, or more established relationships.

Level 3 is where especially good friends reside, or more serious long-term romances. Secrets, hopes and dreams start being shared, as well as fears and concerns. Trust is an especially strong factor.

Level 4 is on the level of best friends, close family on good terms, and committed relationships. With closeness comes trust and expectation, and secrets are divulged often, though not universally.

Level 5 relationships are life-defining and correspondingly rare. Such relationships are on the level of mythic romances or legendary friendships, the kinds that stories claim to transcend lifetimes. Most people never have a bond of this level, and that is more than fine. A loss of this level, after all, would be absolutely ruinous for both parties. Or the survivor.

Reputation levels also exist, but they are essentially the same thing, but for large organizations and factions. 1 is someone on their radar, 5 is a founding member.

Negative relationship ratings do exist, ranging from animosity to undying hatred. Try not to cultivate too many of these.

Form Changes:
When you do a Form Change, you'll get stat buffs and one trait. The rest, you'll have to find out.

Heat:
Not encountered yet.

Disaster:
[X] Dark Mirrors

Early in the morning
Your Place, Tokyo

It takes you a good while to calm down. You've got to breathe. In. Out.

Ok, you're calm now. So you get out of bed. That dream shook you up, but you can't remember what it was about. Weird. Unfortunately, it seems like your past got to you, or something must have spooked you from your nightmares. Unfortunately in this situation, it didn't seem to help that you were…

Personality:
[ ] …Curious and Inquisitive.
[ ] …Brave and Bold.
[ ] …Shy and Reclusive.
[ ] …Kind and Caring.
[ ] …Something else. (Write-in, two adjectives max)

It takes a monumental effort, but you manage to throw off the sheets and get out of your bed. Now you've got to go through your whole morning routine. Yay. You go to the restroom to brush your teeth, and in the mirror you see:

Age:
[ ] Your young face. (High Schooler)

You're roughly a junior, and you've been going through school at an easygoing pace.

[ ] Your good-looking face. (Young Adult)
You're about college age, and you'll be able to decide whether you're going or already graduated next update.

[ ] Your tired face. (Middle-Aged)
You're 40 something. Hey, at least you've got a steady, boring corporate job.

As you brush your teeth and spit the toothpaste down the drain, you wipe up the sink and get into the shower for a quick wash. You wonder if anybody would think you look hot right now, but dismiss the horny thoughts with a quick slap of cold water from the sink. You've never had a romantic partner, since you're just an unassuming…

Gender:
[ ] …Male
[ ] …Trans Male
[ ] …enby. (Nonbinary.)

(If you identify as a man or enby, you can still become a Magical Girl. Magical Boy? Magical Warrior? We'll workshop it.)
[ ] …Female
[ ] …Trans Female

And you look like:

Appearance:
[ ] (write in) Send a small description and a link to a picture. (NO AI ART PLEASE)

You throw on your clothes, and make sure you've got your stuff together. Time to get to work- you've only got twenty minutes to make it there! Right before you walk out the door, you make sure to grab your wallet, and ID. Gotta make sure that you can get on the train, after all. On the ID, it says your name, though you obviously don't pay much attention to that right now. Your name is…

Name:
[ ] Ren Akiyama
[ ] Akira Tori
[ ] Shintaro Ishimori
[ ] Hana Aoi
[ ] Mai Kurosawa
[ ] Rei Maruki
[ ] No, you're… (Write-in.)

You're outside of the house now. Just in time, you manage to get your ass out of the apartment, and down the stairs to the subway.

6:15 AM
Tokyo Subway, Going To Akihabara

You scan your pass just in time, before taking a seat in the crowded subway car. You're ready to doze off, until you hear somebody call out your name. "Hey! Is this seat taken?"

Oh hey, it's your coworker Arata! "No, it isn't. You can sit next to me." Thank god this train isn't crowded at all. Rush hour would be a pain to deal with today.

Arata Keiko

Your work friend. He's a dumbass, but he's your dumbass. Aside from being a generally good guy, he's also a fiend for Gundam. You should really ask him about his hobby one day…

He brushes a hand through his messy mop of black hair and waves to you. "I wasn't expecting you to make it on this train. Thought you'd be taking the 8:30 one like I usually do. What are you, some sort of super-speedster?"

You quietly laugh. "No, Arata, I'm just a regular person. I've just got the prudence to get my butt out of the house early, unlike you."

He smiles. "Well, that's nice! Anyways, wanna hear about the new HG model I got? Seriously, it's so cool. Check it out."

"Sure, why not? We've got time before the train starts."

Arata pulls out his smartphone, which unfolds from a square the size of his palm into a tablet sized screen. Probably some spell infused there, but you don't bother to ask. He starts going on about the new Gundam model he got, showing you some pictures of his new passion project. He's been doing this since way before both of you met. When was that… five years ago? Man, that feels like forever ago now.

Now that gets you thinking about where you came from. That's because you're just a:

Origin:
(For this section and until the end of the update, you will have 4 character generation points. Spend them all.)

[ ] (0) Regular Human
You're just an average Japanese person. Nobody more, nobody less. But hey, you've got a real appreciation for life and a good work ethic, so you're glad for that.
[No special effects.]

[ ] (2) Enhanced Human

A few years back you managed to get out of "that life" and turn away from your past. The forces that be seem to want you to come back. No thinking about that for now, however. Just enjoy your time with your friend.
[Some mild starting stat upgrades and mild experience as a combatant from your past, which will be decided in the next update. This also comes prepackaged with trauma because of course it does.]

[ ] (2) Artificial/Magical Being
You're not actually human at all! You're—
(Great enhancements to all starting stats. Start with a few free traits. However, you have less opportunities to make friends and talk down the bad guys due to your lack of humanity.]

[Locked due to world options.]

A conductor Humagear walks through the car, advising everyone to take their seats. His hands chop up and down, with human-looking skin hiding motorized servos and cold logic. As the Wind Glyphs start blasting from the other side of the train, the channeled energy of air acting as both a turbine and engine, the train starts to speed up. As Arata winds down from talking about his interest to go play some mobile game, you whip out your phone to scroll through social media. While you look through your feed, some posts come up. They're curated by either an algorithm or some Humagear with too much time on their hands. That's to say they're related to:

Interests/Hobbies:
(Pick as many as you like.)

[ ] (2) Magic
It's the newest discovery, the biggest thing since cavemen discovered fire. The new revolution that'll bring humanity into a new era! How could you not be interested in Magic?
[Increased starting Magical stat. Gain starting item: Beginner's Rune Kit.]

[ ] (2) Engineering

You've been helped out by them ever since you were little. They can do things that are impossible for humans within the blink of an eye. How could you not be interested in Humagears?
[Increased starting Technical stat. Gain starting item: Beginner's Repair Kit.]

[ ] (2) Magical Girls and Kamen Riders.

Yes, yes, the irony is clear. But you couldn't help but gravitate towards these effervescent figures, who always fought for the good of all.
[Better chances of meeting "interesting people" when exploring. You'll be able to get some info on any hero or villain's powers just based on their looks.]

[ ] (1) Martial Arts.

Your mom signed you up when you were young. Then you just kept on going.
[Increased Martial stat.]

[ ] (1) Trivia.

Japan's schooling system isn't the best in the world without reason. You may or may not be in the part bringing up the average.
[Increased Mental stat.]

[ ] (1) Socializing and Celebrities.

You were a social butterfly in middle school. And then freshman year. And then…
[Increased Social stat.]

And as you look at all those frivolous things on your phone, you still don't know what's in store for you. As you put it down and close your eyes for just a second, you don't have the slightest clue about what would happen today. In only a few hours, you'd become a…

Archetype:
(This is the most important part of the update. It determines how and why you will be a hero. Choose wisely.)

[ ] Kamen Rider

Your powers originate from the mysterious organization sending down monsters to the world, also known as Umbra. Essentially, whether you were experimented on by them or simply found some of their trinkets, you'll be fighting evil using a power intended for evil. Your Counterpart is a Magical Girl.

Fight for Justice, Rider. And remember, when you're in trouble, the correct option is always to yell "Henshin!" and then start kicking people.

Some famous Riders are:
-Takeshi Hongo (Kamen Rider Ichigo)
-Hiden Aruto (Kamen Rider Zero-One)
-Shouma Inoue (Kamen Rider Gavv)

Perk:
[Those Who Change]

The "heart" of your powers keeps on shifting and moving. You can't pinpoint it, or how it'll develop. But you know that these powers aren't content with staying human and normal forever. Maybe that's a good thing, especially with how dangerous things are about to get.
[Gain access to Form Changes (Ten in total, maybe more) over the course of this harrowing adventure. Form Changes will give you different Perks while transformed and temporary Stat Upgrades.]

Trait:
[Seeker Of Justice]

"Bad" and "good" are two sides of the same coin. With your new eyes and heart, you can see exactly what type of person somebody wants to be, whether they'll fight for human life or disrespect it.
[You will be able to ascertain someone's Alignment (eg. Neutral Good, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil, etc) after fighting with them or socializing with them for enough time.]

Flaw:
[They're After You]

Umbra, the people who you got your powers from, wanted an expendable soldier. They instead got a huge pain in the ass: you. Now, they want their investment back, dead or alive.
[The antagonists of this story know you PERSONALLY. And while for a while they'll just send their mooks, eventually you'll find yourself going against their head honchos.]

[ ] Magical Girl

Your powers originate from a mysterious creature that blessed you with the power to fight off the monsters that terrorize the people, those things called Shades. Your Counterpart is a Kamen Rider.

Fight for Love, Magical Girl. And remember that even in the worst of times, there's still hope left for even villains.

Some famous Magical Girls are:
-Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)
-Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura)
-Any of the PreCures

Perk:
[Praying For Love]

Your powers are powered by emotions. Your love, anger, sorrow, joy… all of them coalesce into your magic.
[Half your Social stat can be added to your Physical stat when fighting. This can double your chances of both winning and making friends.]

Trait:
[Seeker Of Love]

You care for people. Always have, always will. When you gain your powers, you'll be able to sense and empathize with their emotions on an even deeper level.
[You will be able to ascertain someone's Sanity (on a scale of 1-100) after fighting with them or socializing with them for enough time.]

Flaw:
[Emotions On A Wire]

This magic, this power… it's all connected, intimately, to your emotions. Try and use it when you need to, but remember: the magic is only as sane as its user.
[Due to being fueled by your emotions, your combat powers and your Perk might fall out of use if you go through enough emotional or mental stress during your civilian life. Basically, don't be a NEET!]

[ ] (1) Kaijin Rider/Pseudo-Rider

Your powers originate from a dark place. But even so, you will not be chained by anybody's rules, or anybody's morals. You'll still try and fight for justice… but you'll be doing it your own way. Your Counterpart is a Dark Magical Girl.

Some famous Pseudo Riders are:
-Machine Chaser (Kamen Rider Drive)
-Valvarad (Kamen Rider Gotchard)
-Another Riders (Kamen Rider Zi-O)

Perk:
[Break Down]

Your powers are unstable. Unreliable. But that just means they're much more powerful than some run of the mill Rider.
[EXP gain x1.5. Form Change stat boost extended to a bit after the transformation.]

Trait:
[Monstrous Composition]

The experiments and events that were realized on you turned you into a monster, physically while transformed and mentally outside. Thankfully, you used to be (and still are) a half decent person, so you just come off as very grumpy and kind of intimidating.
[No Secret Society will take you in, (yet…) but none of the baddies will try to jump you unless provoked. Gain advantage on all intimidation checks.]

Flaw:
[Those Who Cannot Change]

THEPOWERTHEPOWERITHURTSITHURTS—
[Write ins will be harder to find opportunities for, and write in combat plans will be interpreted through the lens of someone blood-drunk on combat.]

[ ] (1) Dark Magical Girl

Your powers originate from a contract with a being outside the scope of this world, one that speaks of an eternal Void. A very, very unfair being, who's toying with you for sport. Your Counterpart is a Dark Kamen Rider.

You've got problems. Mental problems, social problems, and now that other Magical Girls hate you, you've got Magical problems. Good luck.

Some famous Dark Magical Girls are:
-Homura Akemi (Madoka Magica)
-Koyuki Himeko (Magical Girl Raising Project)
-JUST GO WATCH MADOKA MAGICA.

Perk:
[Survivor]

Ante up your life. That's what you've been taught to do. While this life has been ruthless, you've still got to try.
[Advantage (two dice rolled) on ALL combat rolls. 1.5x EXP.]

Trait:
[Stranger]

You've always been an outsider. Ostracized. Maybe that's why you took that contract. But even outsiders are a group of their own.
[Automatically gain Relationship Level 1/5 and a look into the Sanity of anybody with the (Outsider) trait.]

Flaw:
[And I Prayed For Hate]

You need to fight monsters and eat their souls to survive. That's it, you said it. The bastard that you sold your soul to for that one wish says so. And you know very well that you're not the only person that needs to do this.
[Other Dark Magical Girls now know your location, name, and family. Also, if you don't fight monsters regularly, you'll die. Good luck!]

But that's all for the future. For now, you're just focusing on going where you need to go. So you shut your eyes and take a nap. And dream of being a hero…

Author's Note:
Pt 2 of the character generation. Say hi to Arata! He might be a Kamen Rider, he might just be a dude working as Mission Control. Who knows? As for all the options here, consider browsing them for a second. While they weren't all picked, you might want to use these options for your very own Rider OC, maybe even for an Omake later on. But that's for later. For now, hit that arrow and get on over to the next encounter with the mysterious world creation narrator…

PLEASE FIX YOUR VOTES
some votes are going to need to be merged, it seems, since as per usual people not including Plan at the start of the Plan name is splitting the votes.
You make a good point.

Everybody, make sure your plan is titled Plan (X), and if you're voting for a plan, make sure that it's called a plan. Your QM really doesn't want to count manually.

Carry the one… shoot, looks like she's going here, he's going there…

Oh! It seems you're back. Hmph. Hit your head on that metal tube you were riding on? You shouldn't be sleeping so much, Rei.

How do I know your name?

…Please don't ask. It's a long story. And as for what I'm doing? Oh, that's convenient. It's related to you. Just a bit of peeking in on your world.

You can watch. Well, actually—can you answer a few more of my questions? We both know you're going to forget the second you go outside, anyways.

Your Past:
Hey, you've had… a tough time in life, right? What made you the person you are today? I know it must have hurt, but it didn't kill you. Did it make you stronger?

[ ] Former Umbra Soldier
You joined because of the promises of a world where everybody could be free. You left after seeing what had to be left in chains.
[Increase all stats by 10 EXCEPT for Mental. You gain inside knowledge on Umbra, the organization pulling the strings of the world. Umbra gets inside knowledge on you.]

[ ] Ex-Assassin

It's only been about 5 years since you escaped that life your parents sold you into. When you look in the mirror, you're unsure where the time that was supposed to be your childhood went. There was an organization that trapped you during those long years, called the Guild. The International Assassin's Guild. May you never see their faces ever again.
[Increase all stats by 10 EXCEPT for Physical. Gain easy access to (Guns) and start with a silenced pistol, though you'll have to upgrade fast.]
[A certain faction will now also be interested in you.]

[ ] Genetic Experiments

You're a monster. When you look in the mirror, check your mouth, or feel magnets stick to your skin, you can tell. Is a killing machine like you even worthy of being called a "human" anymore?
[Increase all stats by 10 EXCEPT for Social.]
[Makes your Flaw [Those Who Cannot Change] worse.]

[ ] (Write in?)

Must be suitably tragic for a Kamen Rider.

Origin:
Let's see… I shouldn't look too far into the future, but where will your powers come from? We know Umbra had something to do with them, but Rider powers don't grow on trees. How will you become a Rider?

[ ] Genetically Engineered Solutions (Weapons)
The trinkets of power that you picked up were supposed to be for an Umbran Soldier. Of course, they dropped dead the second they tried to run away from the organization, so now they're yours.

[ ] Cyborg Augments
You should not have taken that offer to participate in "medical trials". But hey, at least you managed to escape the hypnosis stage. Now you're on the run, with a belt in your backpack and a body stronger than anything you could have imagined.

(If Genetic Experiments was chosen, this MUST be picked.)

[ ] Chosen By The Glyphs
Because of Umbra's experiments, certain Glyphs occasionally go out of control and create monsters. You pushed your friend out of the way of one of these Glyph beams, but you managed to resist the power and channel it into yourself. Now, you're a Kamen Rider.

[ ] (Write-in?)
Something else? Subject to QM veto.

Theme:
And of course, we can't forget what your powers will look like in the future. The Riders of ages past have always had a "theme" that guided the aesthetic of their powers.

Most iconically, insects. A grasshopper, to be exact. No offense, but I wonder what shape your hatred will take?

(Every theme will grant you a free trait, no points needed.)

[ ] Elemental Magic
DRIVER ON.
GLYPH GO.
HEAT, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

Your powers manifest as Miniature Glyphs, magical discs which you extract from people who were "corrupted by Glyph energy" (read: Umbra/the Void). You can use the four elements, and might get access to more as time goes on.

Gain Trait: [Glyph Absorption]
When you go into areas with Glyphs via [Explore] actions, you can absorb those Glyphs to reduce Umbra and their minions's power there. Also, you may absorb someone's Mana by touching them, which reduces any DCs against them and temporarily increases Magical.

[ ] Emotional Magic
FOUND! Despair.
Dreamer ready. Lock on?

Your powers manifest as Emotion Glyphs, a currently undiscovered type of Glyph. Those Glyphs seem to be contained best when they're grafted onto a lock.

Gain Trait: [Friendship Powered Magic]
Spending time around and fighting with friends will extend Form Change buffs, and increase Martial and Physical. Making spells of your own will also be much easier.

[ ] Steampunk Tech
GEAR SET!
L'aereo del sognatore.
~CLANKCLANKCLANK~

Your powers manifest as Dream Gears, which are gears that contain holographic blueprints for some of humanity's greatest inventions. (Think engines, lights, and boats.)

Gain Trait: [Tech Absorb]
When working against Tech using opponents, you may absorb their tech when close enough, which allows you to temporarily use a new special move and gain a temp Technical bonus. If you gain the special item [Empty Gear], this may even lead to you gaining a new form.

[ ] Android Tech
Humanity Confirmed. DNARise!
Ready? Go!

Your powers manifest as various DNArise Keys, which contain copies of one of 8 blueprints made by a mysterious inventor. The Blueprints each show one of 8 body parts, and how they could be enhanced with cyber implant tech. These Keys, when inlaid into your transformation belt will temporarily transform you into a cyborg and boost a certain part of your body.

Gain Trait: [Android Auguments]
x1.2 EXP gain. (CANCELED OUT BY OTHER PERK) When Form Change ends, you'll still be able to carry some of your stats into your human form for a while.

[ ] Magitech Combination
GEAR, GO!
GLYPH, SET!
TRUE MATCH!

Your powers manifest as a combination of the Miniature Glyphs and Dream Gears mentioned above. You can combine these two powers in order to achieve your forms via your Fusion Driver transformation belt .

Gain Trait: [Magitech Absorb]
If you've purchased or "borrowed" any Magitech from your enemies, you may absorb it to create new weapons mid combat. A Magitech vacuum becomes a tornado, a Magitech lighter becomes a flamethrower, and so on. These weapons have limited durability, but stay around after combat.

-[ ] Duel Manifestation
CARD SET!

Your powers manifest as the actualization of the spirits contained in a certain deck of cards.

Gain Trait: Card Summon
Later on, you may temporarily summon spirits from a certain world as allied Riders/Magical Girls.
Gets better if [Sentient Powers] is taken.

[ ] Write in Theme?
Of course, the five courses of action written up there are just some of the ways you could develop. Realistically, almost anything or anyone can be a Kamen Rider or Kaijin Rider, as long as they adhere to a few certain rules.

A not even remotely comprehensive list includes:
  • Space (Voids)
  • Mythical Figures (Hercules, Gilgamesh)
  • Dinosaurs
  • Dragons
  • Insects
  • Monsters (Medusa, Dracula, etc.)
  • Birds
  • Alchemy
  • Video Games (yes, this has actually happened.)
  • …And almost anything else you can think of! Except for Magical Girls. Don't do that.

You can gain more points to take more Perks (good) by taking Flaws (bad). You may only take three Perks and Flaws each.

Perks:
Every Rider has their strengths. Here, why don't you take a look at yours? I've got some notes. Again, don't ask why I have notes.

[ ] (1) Specialty In… (Social/Physical/Technical/Magical/Mental)
Now, we've already established how smart and strong you are. But ok, you also have even more talents, such as…
(Cannot be combined with the flaw that debuffs the same stat.)
[+10 to chosen stat. More EXP gain when training that stat.]

[ ] (2) Sentient Powers

The gears, the keys, the Glyphs… whatever they are, your transformation trinkets? They're alive, and they want to help you in any way they can.
[Your powers are sentient, and will attempt to give advice at the end of each update on how they see the situation. At higher levels, they may even be able to fight as Kamen Riders of their own…]

[ ] (2) Insider To The Societies

I won't and can't tell you who. But one of your friends, even if you don't know yet, is already a highly respected Kamen Rider and respected by the premier organization of Kamen Riders in Japan. And the second that they realize you're a Rider, they'll offer you an invite of honor.
[Almost instant access to the Rider Secret Society (not the real name) once the prologue arc is over, no questline needed. This comes with a lot of benefits, such as money, and a free assist if any other Rider is in the area.]

[ ] (1) Extraordinary Synchronicity

Magical Girls, Kamen Riders… they're all equal heroes, in your eyes. That's definitely a nice way of thinking, Rei. And you'll get to know somebody that thinks the same.
[Guaranteed (Positive) relationship with your Counterpart. Aside from that, you'll be able to more easily create special Combination Moves with any other Rider or Magical Girl you're fighting with.]
[Special Note: Since you're a Pseudo-Rider, you'll be getting the Combination Move part later.]

Traits:
Ah! I didn't notice that part of you the last time I saw you. Let me just give you a check up.

(Traits are neither good nor bad, just little extras you can pick up. They cost 0 points, you can only take 1, and they are also optional.)

[ ] Walking Tech Bane
When it comes to your personal gadgets, you've always been fine. But whenever you hold or deal with any other tech, it always seems to break on you.

Becoming a Rider has not helped with this problem.
[Every ally OR enemy that uses tech will have their equipment debuffed. This does not include you.]

[ ] Voidwoman

Apparently, some people just can't channel glyphs. Their presence absorbs mana just by being close to them. You are one of those people.
[Every ally OR enemy that uses magic will have their stats debuffed. This does not include you.]

[ ] Known Reputation

Now, you aren't a Rider just yet. But in your time spent living in Tokyo you met some… interesting… people.

How do you know this many Riders and magical girls?!
[Increased Reputation with and decently easier to get into the Rider Secret Society. Flaw [They're After You] will get worse, and Umbra will already have a decent lock on you.]

Flaws:
And you've also got… oh, those are some nasty weaknesses. Yikes. Sorry about that. Maybe consider putting those on a to-do list to fix?

[ ] (-1) Deficiency In (Social/Physical/Technical/Magical/Mental)
You like to think you're strong and multi-talented. But, well…
[-15 to chosen stat. Less EXP gain when training that stat.]

[ ] (-1) A Personal Debt

Back when you were just a high school student, you got in some trouble. You managed to get a favor from the Yakuza and some others to get out of jail, but that favor still needs to be repaid.
[Certain criminal factions, that may or may not be connected to Umbra, will be forcing you to do certain… unpleasant things in order to stay alive.]

[ ] (-1) Weak Armor

Whoever made your suit clearly missed a few details. Or maybe the gods themselves are just out to get you.
[Instead of detransforming when hitting 0, reaching 10 Health (Health scales to physical+Magic or Tech/2) will knock you out of your transformed state. This can be fixed, but will take some time.]

[ ] (-1) Phlebotinum Incontinence

The powers that be seem to have made it so that for you, these incredibly strong powers seem to come with a learning curve.
[Increased Crit Failure threshold. Gaining new forms will take longer.]

Author's Note:
I wrote this entire snippet while blasting all the Heisei Kamen Rider theme songs. I stand by my opinion that Switch On is still a banger theme song.

Getting back to business, this is the second to last part of character creation. Next, you'll see the creation of your Counterpart, a Dark Magical Girl, and Rei's relationship with them. I hope you like Rei, because she'll be around for a while.

Ok… so that's who you are. Or will be. We're in a weird anachronistic place right now, tenses are hard. Rei, just keep floating there while I grab my notebook.

So, you're still here. Bit untalkative, aren't you. But if I have to be honest, I'm glad that it looks like you'll be gone soon from how much you've faded, otherwise we'd be in big trouble, Don't ask why you need to get out of here soon. I've known some really bad forces that are really interested in me and that's all you need to know.

Either way, wanna see this cool thing— person? Person, ok. Let's go with that. According to my calculations, you're supposed to meet them soon. Isn't that interesting?

Ah. Though I've got some bad news. They've gotten into some bad situations, and might need your help. No, they don't need someone dead. I'll explain as we go. Follow me, Rei. Um, actually, let me just move your astral body a bit to the left…

Character Generation Points: 2
(Gain more by taking flaws!)

Personality:
As you can see, they're very…

[ ] …Curious and Inquisitive.
[ ] …Brave and Bold.
[ ] …Shy and Reclusive.
[ ] …Kind and Caring.
[ ] …Something else. (Write-in, two adjectives max)

Gender:

And they're going to be a Magical warrior. Specifically, a Magical…

[ ] Boy
[ ] Girl
[ ] (Write-in anything else)

Name:

Their name is…

[ ] Ren Akiyama
[ ] Akira Tori
[ ] Himena Aoi
[ ] Raye Akaba
[ ] Kaneko Akemi
[ ] No, they're called… (Write-in.)

Appearance:

And they look like…
[ ] (write in) (You know the drill: send a small description and a picture.)

Relationship:
Now, one more question, do you know them? Don't worry, I won't erase our memories. That's going to happen as soon as we both wake up anyways.

[ ] (1) Old Friends
Back in your past they were, well, not inseparable from you, but they were a good friend. For some reason or another, they drifted away from you, and you never thought you'd see them again,

Of course, that's going to change in your near future, considering you'll both be trying your best to be heroes. Or anti-heroes, or—
why is your human morality so hard???
[(Positive) Relationship with your counterpart, and relationship level 2 with them. This will serve to get through multiple obstacles in the early game.]

[ ] (0) Who?

Erm… you don't know this person? Ok, let me just write down a few things…
[No special bonuses.]

[ ] (-1) Rivals on Sight

You and them just don't mix, it seems. Just looking at you is like seeing oil and water or stars and meteors shoved into a barrel together. Yikes.
[(Negative) Relationship with your counterpart. You'll be fighting your Counterpart. And if you're not fighting, they'll be trying to steal your kills for their own reasons.]

[ ] No, we're… (Write-In)

Past:

Ok. Now we get to the difficult part.

Whatever your relationship was with them, ignore it. Leave that by the wayside for a second. Because their past was… it was difficult. Promise me you'll help them.
Promise.

[ ] Loner
Have you heard of the NEET? They take all their things, and the second they get away from school, they hole up in their rooms, dive into their fantasy worlds, since the real one could never be kind to them. They live off of the scraps that their parents worked so hard for.

And eventually, they die. Alone, uncared for. Rotting.

Your counterpart is on the road to become one of these people. And if it wasn't for their destiny to be a hero… I have no doubt that they wanted to die on that road.

[HUGE debuff to Social, and your counterpart will be distant from you for a good while no matter what relationship you pick.]

[ ] Fellow Weapon

You met so many people as an assassin, back in that Guild. So many good people, and bad. Of all of them, your counterpart always seemed to stand out the most. Same age as you, same business as well.

You only knew them for about a year or two. But whenever you saw their face, it felt like looking into a mirror.

[Gives your Counterpart the same training that you did, and also their own gun. They will also be chased by the same organization(s) you are. If they are Old Friends or similar, you two will connect easier. However, if you two are Rivals or worse, well…]

[ ] Always Left Behind

Don't you know? The worst part about this world being filled with heroes is that some normal people can feel unwanted. Unremarkable. Those normal people want so hard to be like them, even if it's impossible.

People like them always want to chase that light of heroism. Not knowing it's just the flame of a wildfire…

[Your Counterpart will not be the most "street smart", and they will be trying to act like a regular Magical Girl/Boy. This is a mistake.]

[ ] (Write In)

(Must be tragic.)

(You might have noticed that there is no good option here. There was no happiness in the past for either of you. The only way up is forward.)

Wish
So. That's… bad. You were gritting your teeth while seeing that. I can tell. Rei, you're not subtle. Their life was so bad that they saw fit to do something drastic.

They made a wish. Signed a contract. Signed a contract with something far, far beyond their power. And my power, if I have to be honest. With the power of that contract, they wished for…

[ ] Their wish was… (Write-in. Subject to QM Veto, but this has very few limits. Must be something PERSONAL.)

Perks
:
Alright. Phew. That's the heavy stuff done. Ok, that's all the things I needed to tell you, now you can just watch. Ahem. According to what I can tell, their strengths are…

[ ] (2) Master of (Tech/Magic)
Even though they are an outsider in most places, there is one place where your counterpart shines as a rising prodigy. It is…
[Buffs to Technical/Magical. Narrative buffs as well, with them knowing people from the Engineering Magical community.]

[ ] (2) Aid From A Friend

Now, everything from sky to sea and everything in between will be stacked against you two. You've figured that out by now. But I can even the odds a bit. It'll cost me a bit personally, but I've already gotten used to sacrifice.

See, have you ever heard of this funny thing called Incarnation? Odd technique for my kind, and it'll cost us all something… but it might be just the thing we need.
[Your narrator for the past few updates, Mr. REDACTED will be attempting to help out your counterpart. His powers and memories will be limited, and while he'll recognize you on sight, you won't.]
[He will still have decent knowledge of what's above and below you in the strength hierarchy, and he'll also give you deadlines and goals to work towards.]

[ ] (1) Specialty In… (Social/Physical/Mental)

Now, we've already established how (pardon my language) fucked their life is. But they do have some good points, such as…
(Cannot be combined with the flaw that debuffs the same stat.)
[+10 to chosen stat. This will have narrative effects in your Counterpart]

[ ] (1) Hero Otaku

It seems that people of your species always seem to know way too much about the things they love. Thankfully, it's a good thing in this case.
[Your counterpart knows a lot about Magical Girl and Kamen Rider culture, and will help a lot with searching for either Secret Society.]

Flaws:

And last of all, here are (oh dear) their weaknesses. There seem to be a few.

[ ] (-1) Deficiency In (Social/Physical/Technical/Magical/Mental)
They are your destined partner, so they are strong, smart, brave… but as you know very well by now, people aren't perfect.
[-15 to chosen stat. This will have narrative effects in your Counterpart.]

[ ] (-1) A Personal Debt

Back when they were just a high school student, they got in some trouble. They managed to get a favor from the Yakuza and some others to get out of jail, but that favor still needs to be repaid. Good luck dealing with that, because it's probably also your problem now, Rei.
[Certain criminal factions, that may or may not be connected to Umbra, will be forcing your Counterpart to do certain… unpleasant things in order to stay alive.]

[ ] (-1) Unending Grief

Sometime in your past, they lost someone near and dear to their heart. That grief has never truly left their soul. It is etched into their mind, acceptance just a bit out of reach. It's a love that never ends, even long after their other half left the mortal plane.
[Minor debuff to Social. Becomes a major debuff when attempting actions that involve getting over grief or going against the resulting unhealthy habits.]
[Changes to ??? (Derealization) if a certain Wish is taken.]

[ ] (-1) Phlebotinum Incontinence

For some reason, their patron has made it so that for them, their powers came with a learning curve. I won't blame them, your counterpart— it's that thing's fault.
[Increased Crit Failure threshold. Gaining new powers will take longer.]

I see. That's the person who you're connected to. If you don't mind giving me a piece of advice? Protect them. They'll stay with you until the world burns and the Void consumes it all.

This is the last time we meet in this way, and probably the last dream like this that you'll have for… a while. It was nice to meet you. Wake up Rei. It's about time for you to be a hero. Good luck out there to the both of you.

[X] Pleasant, yet Scheming

Author's Note:

Final part of character creation. After this, it's right into the story. See you on the other side.
