Actually, the best leaders are the ones who knows the Burden Of Power, but taking it anyway because the alternatives was worse. King who simply don't want it can be neglectful, which is in some way can be worse than cruel tyrant.
It amuses me how the game warns you that using the Dark God Gem to enchant armour comes with an extremely high chance of causing the wearer to develop Evil mutations from the constant overexposure to Evil energies, and also cancer, because Baelogi is a spiteful bitch.
Then it gently reminds you that you're using Minions.
Well, it is more of a concern if you're playing with the Full Moon, Crimson Night and Gold for Swords DLC enabled. After all, having your werewolves lose their regeneration because it's too busy fighting off the cancer, Catleya's Vampire Maid coven getting stuck in their bat forms and the mercenaries you just hired going on a murderous rampage inside your base does tend to cause issues...
Fortunately, EarthScorpion isn't playing with those as this Let's Play started before they were released...

Nah, the wolfies get their regeneration boosted to Deadpool levels and vampires are dead flesh, so Baelogi can't do anything there. The rest of the undead have similar immunities for the same reason.
...Oh. Ha. Ha. Ha. The Dark Angel of Living Things and Evilution got defeated by a giant undead hand in her first appearance.

Now that Louise is self-aware about the Void messing with her , I expect that she will be more careful and question her execution of plans. And maybe even try to see if she can remove the influence on her.
P.S. Honestly I hope there are no pairings , Henry is too off her rocker about her dead love and that prince sure as hell doesn't sound like a good choice
So... Elanoir picks up Marcipan's body to return her soul into it.... Also picks up interesting story from Magdalene about Louise's love problems... Then goes home to have a talk...
Few days later Emperor Lee almost dies from heart attack... as he is being visited by Karin herself (not fully here, is she overdosed on some calming tea?) and her husband... Not to kill him... but to have surreal conversation on does he deserve theirs daughter's hand in marriage...
On todo list, top prioty:
Must be something he ate. Interrogate poison tasters and doctors as soon as Karin goes away... IF she goes away... At moment still alive...
"Before the current generation, the de la Vallière family were perfect examples of the nobility. Yes, they might have been rotten to the core, but they understood the virtues of stability. God, if I could replace all the ducal lines – save my own – with old school de la Vallières, I would! Certainly I'd get rid of the current lot. People ascribe too much importance to 'good' and 'evil'. The de la Vallières were perfectly content to stay on their land, bathing in the blood of peasants and feuding with the von Zerbsts. And of course, they were so useful for suppressing the real threats to the Crown, like rebellious peasants. Heroes can be relied on to consistently stop portals to the Abyss, but they're less trustworthy when the peasantry are getting uppity."
I'm pretty sure there is dramatic irony to be found here. As Richelieu isn't aware that it is Louise who is the Overlady that sees the Council as a threat to the Crown to be taken out and has been very successful in doing so thus far. And this is all glorious as every last one of the problems the Council is facing that is Louise's fault is exactly the behavior Richelieu wanted out of the nobility and it comes from arguably the most Vallière of the Vallières in a generation or two.
That will never work. It is cliche. Even if he doesn't end up as skeleton or rotten zombie, spending time in underworld... He could end up emo or insane, all color washed out in world or living being pointless.
Or some evil spirit kicks Prince's soul aside during reanimation, so we get body of prince but someone else inside.
She could have already hired some demons to go kidnap Prince('s soul) from underwould, then put soul into alchemical homunculus, standard golem or ask Baelogi how to clone body from hair she kept as memento or other item.

Or because the prince was Good before he died, he might still be so when Henrietta revives him? And might strongly object to Henrietta going into Evil to get him back? I can see this going up in glorious flames if everything goes perfectly to what Henrietta wants. Also goddamn was that a good chapter.
He's been giving off that vibe ever since he first appeared, especially with his manservant's antics referencing Baldrick and all that.
And for some reason, I kept conflating Baldrick with Jurgen from the Ciaphas Cain WH40k series, even though the only real thing the two have in common is poor hygiene and serving as aides to military figures. Jurgen is actually competent, so there's that too.
Was not expecting an ending like that where Louise sends Eleanore back to her parents, though I guess I can see how it works out. She always was going to get the Gauntlet back, but I expected her sister to join her in the tower as well, but I guess I can understand Louise's logic there. The two of them would be at each other's throats all the time, as would Cattleya.
Well, this arc has ended, so that means another interlude next, right? Wonder what background material we'll be getting now with the next one. Awaiting it eagerly, keep up the good work.

Louise moaned, holding her head in her hands. No, no, no. Stupid logic. Stupid, stupid logic. She didn't want to do this. But when she put it like that, there really wasn't a choice at all. She'd have to become the overlady again - knowing that the evil power twisted her mind and the way she thought. Louise wiped her eyes, feeling them well up. It wasn't fair! It wasn't fair at all! She was happy now. She could be the daughter Mother had always wanted her to be – and more crucially, she could be the woman she wanted to be.
Ah, this was amazing. So tragic and heartbreaking, and so meaningful. Absolutely beautiful. This is where Louise proved that no matter her official alignment, she's truly good. How many people would be willing to make this choice? How many people would sacrifice everything they've ever wanted for this? Consider how deeply unfair this is - at the end of the chapter, Eleanore gets to go back home, to her family, to talk with her father about what she's gone through, to try and get better. Meanwhile, Louise gets to go back to her dungeon, to be berated by Gnarl and crushed by her crush. Louise is truly the best among them, and she get so little credit for it. I'm glad she at least got to have a loving moment with Eleanore. Lastly, this is further proof of @EarthScorpion's supreme skill as a writer, and was indeed amazing character development, rather than anything else.
"Oh yes. Yes, I will. I'll tell her everything. I'll tell her the Void is corrupted. I'll tell her about the curse that the royal families carry because of that. And you know how she'll react to that. I'll be with her every step of the way. Listen to me, Void. You can either have me as your host, or you can have me as your enemy. You make the choice. Give me that power. Or else."
This was an amazing evil speech, made all the better for the fact that A) She's good while making it, B) She's threatening a sentient artifact that is the embodiment of Evil, C) The speech basically comes down to "I'll tell mother on you", D) It works.
Eleanore, I think you're confused. You're not so much 'wicked' as 'mean'. And while no one mourns the mean, meanness is a personal choice - you weren't born or destined to be that way.
Well, that's excellent for Louise. In truth, it seems to me like the consequences of this are quite possibly the best, or at least, much better than should be expected. Montespan out of the picture, Eleanore no longer threatening to intervene (remember before this she asked Magdalene to arrange a meeting with the Overlady?) and possibly able to intercept Karin (or at least provide cover/aid), Baelogi and Athe gone, and Magdalene in control of Amstrelredamme .
"Corrupt or kill, your wickedness," he'd said, knuckles white around his walking stick. "Corrupt heroes, or kill them. You should never just leave them running around where they can get up to mischief!"
She shook her head, trying to get his quietly furious voice out of her ears.
Personally, I think Gnarl's true anger here isn't because of Louise failing Evil or something, but because Gnarl was personally offended by her rejection of him, and wanted revenge on her.
"So have I! It'll serve us very well! Well, you know, Tiffania is fighting against the Albionese Republicans - the ones who murdered my sweet love - and that automatically makes her our friend. But she wants to talk about a treaty between us so we can focus on ruining both the Council and the Republican government!" Henrietta clasped her hands to her chest. "And then! Just think! They executed my love, but we can recover his body. Louise-Françoise, I can bring him back."
Oh, excellent. This arc was amazing and I loved it, but I also can't wait for the next arc: Teaming up with Tiffania, fighting Sheffield, Cromwell and Wardes, Henrietta and her adventures in Necromancy and necrophilia... Also, the fact that in the next interlude, we'll probably get to see Kirche and co (or at least Tabitha) in Amstrelredamme, and I'd love to see their reactions to Magdalene and the aftermath.
The only downside is that a falling-out may lead to a war, but everyone else lives on the other side of the known world anyway so that just means one more exhausted army with a long supply line that his fortifications have to repel.

Its dark power called to her. She wanted to say "No!"; to resist it, to stand strong. And she could do it. Even exhausted to the bone and desperately needing sleep, she could stand strong.
Loiuse de la Valliere, y'all. She has a will of pure fucking steel. And this win - this victory by timeout; not letting Eleanore confront her younger self at all and instead just intercepting her before she got to the critical point - that was a perfectly Karin solution, not a Valliere one. It was a victory in the style of her mother; the one who always came up with plans like "okay, so what if we ambush the evil wizard three days before the solstice while he's still twenty miles out from the unholy altar and smash his head in?"
For all the Evil and despite her decision to take up the mantle of the Overlady again, I think Karin would be super-proud of her youngest if she saw this arc - the square rank wind mage with a heart strong enough to hold the tainted Void like a jail cell and keep it contained. She really is her mother's daughter, and I'd like to think that Karin would recognise that even if they wound up on opposite sides of a battlefield, should she ever find out about these events from Eleanore. She might conclude that as an inevitable consequence of the cursed power Louise bears that she needs to die in a way that will keep the Void from passing on, but she would be so proud of her nonetheless.

@Aleph, you are absolutely right (as usual), and this is also one of the things I most like about Louise - this strength, this fucking will of steel, that sustains her through everything, just like her mother preaches. This is Louise, pure and simple, what truly makes her herself.
And of course, you've made it even more tragic, because one of the few things Louise wants in the world is for her mother to be proud of her. And as you say, she would be... if only she knew. And Louise doesn't know it, and may never know it.
...I want to cry.

I think the saddest thing is that Louise never actually used her Wind magic in front of Eleanore.... or maybe even any reputable sources. So she has no proof she's her mother's daughter there.
EDIT: Gah, got that wrong, and Kintty caught it for me. Thank you!

Louise fried Cat in front of Eleanore. She knows. A better question would be if Eleanore would think it wise to tell her mother anything about Louise and Cat.

I very much doubt it. Eleanore is too much like Louise to think that telling mom anything, much less at this point, is even remotely a good idea. Plus I think that Eleanore is going to be focusing on repairing her relationship with mom and dad along with dealing with her own personal issues that lead to her attempted temporal suicide and Marzipan.
Dad might get told something eventually, but I doubt it's going to be anytime soon.
One thing I am wondering is if there are any small ripples from Louise's timetravel escapades, primarily the fact that there should have still been a Louise hiding in Eleanore's closet.
