Lee might be okay with his consort having a mistress, assuming he's still the only one who'll be siring his consort's children. His consort's mistress being a queen regnant is probably a bonus. His consort's mistress being a queen consort is probably also a bonus if Wales is okay with it. The only downside is that a falling-out may lead to a war, but everyone else lives on the other side of the known world anyway so that just means one more exhausted army with a long supply line that his fortifications have to repel.

Well, we've already got a FlashBlitzheart, so it's hardly surprising.

The foremost question, though, is which Blackadder – the various generations all had... equally various levels of success.

I would say the second or the third. Certainly not the fourth, and likely not the first. Probably the second, with a significantly less competent queen.

I recall nothing from Henriette that indicates she feels anything for Louise aside from deep friendship. And I say that as someone who loves looking for that kind of thing and who has reread this piece several times. If you've got examples of Henriette having romantic feelings for Louise, I would love to see them before I get my eyes checked because I'm clearly going blind if I've missed such content.
I could have sworn... look it's 10:30 at night, I have gotten very little sleep in the past three days between spending one night having my flights repeatedly cancelled and the previous night on a bus. I distinctly remember Henrietta expressing disappointment at how Louise wasn't paying her enough attention, or being appreciative/complimentary enough of Henrietta's clothing choices. I'm too tired to do an effective search for these scenes, but I'll concede I might be misremembering and/or misinterpreting platonic intimacy on Henrietta's part.

The problem with that idea is that it assumes that Louise will stay with Lee and won't end up getting dragged out of the relationship by Henriette being Henriette. Which also relies on Louise being willing to confess her feelings whilst Wales is a threat and/or not resisting Henriette pulling her into a poly relationship involving Wales when she, as far as I'm aware, barely knows him and only through Henriette. Furthermore there's likely a rather significant chance that Louise would end up with Henriette's kids if the right spells can be found in the family library. Also pretty much the entire situation relies on Louise remaining as the Overlady, Henriette ending up outed as a necromancer, and probably a holy war or something because of Wales coming back from the dead in what I can't imagine being in too great of shape.

Jeez that doesn't sound like fun, but Henriette not being happy about Louise not paying attention does sound kinda familiar, so I might do some digging around to check.

Gnarl is loyal to the position of Overperson. He makes no attempts to actually interfere in the movement of the Gauntlet from one arm to the other, though he does make efforts to ensure it's transfer from one overparent to an overoffspring should the need arise and no one has taken the Gauntlet for themselves. He may be upset over Eleanore, but that wound is going to be soothed by Magdalene's appointment to the Regency Council and possibly the recruitment of whomever is going to be helping her with the Minion Hives that was talked about ages ago.
Possibly. On the other hand, he can communicate via the Gauntlet, and Louise did monologue her true plan in its presence.
I have no clue where you and the others are getting polyamory from, almost to the point where i question if you lot know what that word means. What has happened is that the love triangle between Louise, Henriette and Wales is now a threat to Louise's desire to have Henriette rather than an obstacle when his being dead was looking far more permanent. This being companion love triangle to the one between Louise, Henriette and Lee.
It's because True Love is a thing, particularly between Henrietta and Wales. And you pretty much can't compete with that without using some rather scummy means that are incompatible with how Louise feels for Henrietta, like with whoever it is that's unknowingly coercing Monmon into forsaking it. So attempting to coexist with it seems like the only option.

Yeah.
Plane #1 was scheduled to leave at 12:50am. Finally got to the front of the check in line at 11:30 only to be told that the plane had broken down in its previous city. But not to worry! They already had a new plane lined up.
Plane #2 boards at 5:50am. I enter security at 4 and am told that my flight doesn't exist. Go back to check in and they inform me that it has been cancelled. Then they give me my checked luggage and new tickets.
Plane #3 is at 11:50pm today. Of course, they didn't specify PM. So, I've spent the mid-morning napping on the floor, the late-morning and early-afternoon reading e-books, and since then surfing the web after buying 24 hours of wifi.

I fucking hate United.

Gnarl has known that Louise would be up to such thing and that her alignment would be Delusional Evil since chapter 3 and this isn't the first time she's had this conversation with the Gauntlet on. Mostly because she never takes it off.

Also I'm not sure if the True Love phenomenon has really been explained too well. Saying that everyone only gets one or that there are ways around that that don't involve scummy means feels far too premature at thsi point. Espcially given that ES is ES.

Oh my, that chapter ran the full spectrum of funny to heartbreaking. Louise threatening the Void to make it take her as a host again was damn awesome.

Very impressive work from Earthscorpion.

Yeah, I was coming at it from Lee's perspective, and even that had a "might" and two "probably"s. It's really unlikely to work out.

At least they didn't ask you to voluntarily leave a plane.

So far, what we know about True Love is that if its object is dead, then Incubus glamour just makes you pine harder. We don't know if it's singular or eternal, and we don't know if other forms of mind control can overcome or subvert it.

Okay, I was jumping to conclusions there. I'm sorry for accidentally presenting my speculation as fact.

Need to properly read this and comment, but have to run, so just two things: First, awesome chapter and a great end to this arc, I want to cry at some things.
Second: Louise, Pirate-Princess of Vallière Sky-Principality:

Remember that Henrietta's true love is named Cearl (or something like that) and not Wales.

That's entirely because canon is silly in calling the heir to the Albionese throne during a Civil War "Wales", when it's usually more on-point with its "stolen from the history books" names. No, the name of the Prince of Wales is not "Wales", save when you're doing that thing where nobles refer to each other by their titles. And thus his title is the Prince Wales. Not his personal name.

... wait, you Released Eleanore? Wtf? She's one of the most powerful lieutenants in the game! And one of the most dangerous enemies! And Releasing her hurts your reputation with Gnarl and lowers the Evil threshold it takes to trip the Karin meter, because she tells Mother if it looks like you've fallen to darkness!

Man, I am bewildered by some of your choices on this playthrough. They're interesting, sure, but it looks like you really aren't all that bothered about playing optimally.

Look, I went to quite some lengths to access this Actually Good choice. You have to arrange to capture Eleanore after she has her hands on the Gauntlet, then deliberately time-out your dialogue choice to reveal the secret "I'm going to do... nothing" dialogue, and then that unlocks the hidden Actually Good option to Release Eleanore rather than Recruit or Kill.

It's an actual, meaningful sacrifice. This isn't a Bioware game - trying find the Actually Good options are hard and actually just weaken you. After all, for her to accept the Release rather than attack you, you need to give up the Dark God Gem as a proof of your bona fides - which makes developing your Workshop more expensive since it's the most efficient power source in the game, with only a small-medium risk of Baelogi and Athe escaping and forcing another boss fight.

God, I know. I love that thing. SO MUCH MAGICAL MINION ARMOUR.

Hmm. Actually, thinking about it, I guess it's less of a sacrifice for your playstyle. I was running a minion-master who was basically as optimised for command/coordination as yours is for direct-damage, but I've heard that if you're not so good at keeping your underlings happy, it can be a real bitch keeping Eleanore in the sweet spot between depressive spirals and mutiny. I know for a fact that she can overthrow you again if you screw up, in both heroic and villainous ways depending on what your mistake was.

Still, yeah. Kudos on getting this option. I'd heard it was possible, but I didn't know how you obtained it - I just got my minion horde flattened by her three times in a row when I tried Kill and then settled for Corrupt instead once I figured out how not to attack her head-on.

Ugh, tell me about it. The Soular Burner comes with the obvious ethical issues and the issue of actually keeping it fed, the Aethyric Turbine fluctuates all the damn time, and Geomagical Taps require you to prospect for suitable leylines to build them on.

Compared to that I'll take high power output and reliability and risk a very pissed off Dark God escaping as radiation if you don't invest in enough cooling and containment upgrades.

...So I thought was caught up with Overlady.

I also thought "wow, this is the first update in like a year, sweet!" and jumped right in.

And got hit face-first with Time trying to eat Eleanor, Louise being an utter badass with a spine of solid fucking titanium, and a whole hell of a lot of confusion!

-- So now I'm digging back trying to figure out why the hell I apparently skipped like six updates, minimum, but boy howdy do I have motivation!

(Also. Poor Louise. And man, I have to say, that's easily the only time I've ever seen the "strong enough to accept the cursed power" thing done well, without coming off as edgy or pointless or just self-delusion.

Heh. Though while we're talking metaphors for mundane government in Overlady... that's basically what the crown is, isn't it? The best kings are the ones who don't want it, or who have a purpose for that power, and either way, will put it down once they can.)
