[X] Close by a ship has died. You can use that!

It might only be a cargo ship... but it's better than nothing.

The first seems like summoning an Abyssal, whereas the second seems like . . . I'm not sure, perhaps self-repair or some sort of self-improvement? Her injuries are minor, so I'm guessing it's some sort of self-improvement. I'm hoping it's weapons.
If if helps... Bauxite is a ressource for -carriers- For theirs planes.

I'll go with this.

[X] It's not bauxite, but that's very nice metal...

If it's about having a trump card, then we cannot expect ships everywhere... But then again, power of said card may be strong as a consequence too.

Maybe I will switch. Or not. I'll see.

I guess I'll go with this option as well since it seems like it'd provide us with an offensive power that we'll be able to keep around.

Summon minion! Or distraction! Either would be useful here!

Also, what tier of Abyssal is required to summon recently killed ships straight back as Abyssals?

I'm thinking the bauxite/metal vote is going to be along the lines of absorbing and/or utilizing all the mostly abandoned weapons laying around.

Minion get! We're going to steal its kit.

My leading theory for what we are is a Southern Demon. Its the only one with metallic black hands and rigging that's not directly a part of the body. Oh, and it would still eat Bauxite.

So while I will be a bit sad we're not a Wo, We're still a bit of a badass.

Okay, I will be tied up with RL for the next few days so there won't be an update until Friday. I'll try to post a reminder/warning about this on Thursday, but I suspect that I'll be collapsed through that evening.

As a general response to comments, I will say that what you get/are may not be strictly canonical compared to Kantai Collection but it will fit in the option and the general 'themes' of an Abyssal. (Some more than others.)

Grey is... First thing that come to mind is the fog. I doooon't think we want that.
It is worth keeping in mind that this is an ace that you'll be able to use in future again rather than a random event.
I know, but for some strange, unexplainable reason, I thought that the protagonist was a battleship.
That may be because of her rather... straighforward attitude in combat so far?

Voting is closed

Sleep is surprisingly tempting, but I did say that I'd close this tonight and so (with that done) I should try to write the update.

TURN - A (Not So) Safe Harbor 1.9
[X] Close by a ship has died. You can use that!

You weren't meant to be alone.

The thought bothered as you caught the attacking mass of blades, the weight of metal which was wearing the shape of a wolf, and distracted you as you tried to fend off the ever changing mass. The needle sharp tips scratched against your skin and razor edges blunted themselves your flesh, but the damage was cosmetic for now.

The problem was that you were alone.

Your hands which could rend armour plating, tear through metal sheets, and break keels like mere scaffolding had no trouble with individual pieces of this 'bladedog'. You could feel parts of it tearing and crumbling as you seized then, but the mass shifted and somehow replaced itself as each broken part was released from the greater whole.

Hax, you called it. An enemy fixing up like that was just cheating!

(At least when until you figured out the trick to use for yourself...)

You strained to retain your balance on the horribly solid footing as the bladedog pushed at you, its legs somehow finding purchase on the concrete, and there was a horrible screeching as it rubbed its body against you and wrapped its 'arms' around you.

You failed, toppling over backwards and your shoulders hitting the ground with a thump as its weight bore down on top of you. Beneath it your cheeks suddenly felt warm as its hull against your own registered. The horrible effect it was having on your paintwork was uncomfortable and one thing, but something about this position which made y-

Something caught, something tore, and you screamed as it hurt. It hurt!

You pushed and thrashed and kicked, ignoring how blurred your radar returns were as oil seeped from your right eye socket. You were alone and with the way that the metal just broke, separated, and was replaced under your grip there was no leverage. No way to really what was wrapping itself tightly around your body.

Straining your engines, sucking in deep breaths to fuel them, you brought one hand up in time to block a blade aiming for your other eye, and you could feel how some of the metal had managed to get beneath you. It was pressing at you, crushing down upon you, as though you were in a vice.

As you thrashed part of your mind screamed that this shouldn't be happening. That this was wrong That someone should be helped. Questions that you had instinctively flinched from, ignored during the long time in the grey until they refused to surface, now came back to you.

Where were they?

Where was the fleet?

Where was the flotilla?

Where were the others?

You could feel the other ships nearby, hot and bright in ways that made you want the cool darkness again, but some forgotten memory told you that they were almost the solution. That somehow they were linked to the absence of the others.

You remembered the darkness. The loneliness. The hate.

"Help me." You called to them as you managed to rip one leg off the increasingly less coherent mass which you were fighting.

The bright forms of the ship's souls, still bound to their physical hulls, ignored you.

"Do something!" You yelled at them as you tried to sit up, just before a shining blast smashed into your shoulder hard enough to make something break and to drive you onto your back once more.

There was no answer.

There, beyond the ones which were so bright and whole, you 'glimpsed' something else. A dimmed soul, an impression of a frantic face, and a sense of betrayed disbelief of how she had been so sunk so recently.

"C̀͟ǫ̢̕͝m̴̴e̛҉ ̀̕͜͡T҉̀̕͘ǫ́ ͘͜͏͘M̡͏̛͠ę͢͞͡͞,̴̨͜ ̴̛́͢͞D̢̀҉̸ę̀s̀͠t̨͢ŕ̵͜ǫ̴y͠e̡̛r̵̀͘͢ ̷͘҉Ŕ͞ò̶̢͜-̸̴͘C̸̀͡l̀́͘͝͞a͠s̛͏ś̷́͠!̀͘͠͠ "

You had no idea what you had said, the words slipping from your mind, but you could feel the effect immediately as something stirred in the space which was somehow 'beneath' her sunken hull. You could sense rather than see a pale hand, pale like your own rather than the shining purity of the living ships, reach up and take a firm grasp of the ship's slender ankle.

You saw the panic, saw her struggle, and watched someone who was kin to you claw her away upwards even as the ship spirit was pushed down into the abyssal in her place.

You felt the vague urge to let out a d'aww at how adorable it was, this miracle of spiritual rebirth. However you were a little too preoccupied with keeping sharp and pointy things resembling pry-bars away from all your most sensitive parts.

You managed to free one arm briefly from the mass only to find another searing shot barely missing it, cratering the ground instead of striking the limb, and before the shifting weight atop of you managed to envelop it again you managed to make an almost reflexive gesture with a single finger up towards where you were sure the glowing woman was.

(It would likely have been far smarter to try using the opportunity for something else, but something deep inside of you found that way more satisfying than doing the "smart" thing.)

Now that your attention was entirely on your own situation it wasn't hard to figure out the tactics which were being used. The animate mass of blades was shifting on top of you, refusing to give you anything to grip while making it hard for you to push its weight off of you, while the glowing woman was waiting for any sort of clear shot since she (as your poor aching shoulder attested) could actually deal damage to you.

It was a no good downright cheaty thing to do, but it really did seem to be working. All things considered you might have been scared concerned about how well it could work, and how getting away would be pretty hard. Both of them seemed pretty angry after all and they weren't letting up...

You bit down and yanked your head to the side, tearing off a blade which had tried to slip between your lips, then gave a suitably Savage Grin (practising that had been hard without a mirror..) to the mass of blade which wanted to be a dog.

The tactic they were using against you was pretty smart, but so too was how the glowy woman fought. Flying up out of your reach, shining so hard that details of her couldn't be made out, had kept her fairly safe. But...

There was a double thump, two low sounds in rapid succession that were almost felt rather than heard, and suddenly the area around you was significantly dimmer. Over your radio, on the special channels, you heard a voice squeal in delight even as a sprinkling of something wet splattered down on the area around you.

"Got it! Was that a skeet?" The voice asked excitedly, "Did I do good? I did, didn't I?"

You weren't alone any more.

You have several minor injuries and 'scuffed paintwork'.
Minor damage to your "rudder" and radar.

UPDATE: The trait "Birth of Darkest EvilTM" has been revealed.
UPDATE: A companion has been summoned with the nickname of "Eager Puppy".

You might get free by yourself now, but what will you tell your friend to do?
(Vote indicates how to finish off this situation.)

[ ] Ask her to sink some ships for the Dockworkers. (Won't allow another summoning.)
[ ] Have her try to hit the man in the rigging.
[ ] Send her off to deal with another group.
[ ] Trust that she won't hit you: have her shoot the blade dog thing.
[ ] <Write-In: Short request on par with above options.>

For those who are annoyed by its presence:

I promise that I won't be using the "messed up text" (ie Zalgo) outside of small instances like the above

I want to sink more ships, but,is the summoning meant ,ship girls summonning? or abyssal one?

Also a puppy huh? *pet

Did, did she just splat Purity?
Well, when you use guns meant either for anti-air or others ships on a person...
Precisely.

(You weren't trying to keep things the same, were you? Given that you've now removed two named E88 capes from canon...)
I want to sink more ships, but,is the summoning meant ,ship girls summonning? or abyssal one?
This particular path is effectively letting the protagonist 'see' ship-spirits which aren't summoned yet and then she can sort of use them to give an Abyssal a chance to 'appear' instead. Named/significant ships stand out from the moment that they're sunk and allow spawning an Abyssal even in combat. With more time and focus than combat allows she can get something from about any ship though...

Also a puppy huh? *pet
Eager to please, energetic, and enthusiastic but possibly not too bright. Doesn't that sound like a puppy to you?

(Nicknames can change easily, but its easier to write things if they have some sort of name that I can default to.)
