[X] Yes.
--[X] No reason you need to get in close WHILE she's firing. Keep moving and see how she'll react to a few shots with only heavy machine-guns before you call it off and go in close.
[X] You have only one foe that matter here and it's that MG wielder. Keep out of her line of fire and plow through flesh idiots who think they can stop a ship from reaching her target. Then lessen the threat she pose either by breaking her guns OR the arms wielding them.
oOo
You weren't sure what to do.
Confusion filled you as you tried to sort through far too many conflicting urges: to keep out of the line of fire, to charge through the mooks ahead of you despite them being in the line of fire, to get closer to the enemy, and to hang back while Puppy took her shot.
It was enough to make you freeze briefly before, in absence of a clearer idea of what to do, you defaulted to a guiding principle formed through untold hours of hazily recalling movies:
When in doubt say a cool line then kill mooks to show that you were bad-ass.
"
Don't you know who I am?" You exclaimed even as you reopened the channel to Puppy and struck a pose with one hand in the air and the other on a cocked hip, "
I'm the Gundam Batman!""
"
Puppy?" You said over the radio during the pause caused, obviously, by the meat people and ship-girl were stunned by the fabulousness of your pose, "
Can you make with the booms on these coordinates?"
"
I- I can try!" The destroyer called back hesitantly, "
Anything for you boss..."
There was a faint sniffle to the words that tugged at your heartstrings and made you want to ch- That reminded you to get a more detailed damage report from your number one minion.
Just because your minion's status reflected on you.
Really.
Puppy must have been a little concerned about shooting so close to you as when the cannon fire which arrived, there being little interval at this range between the firing and the impact of the arching shots, the impacts were somewhat underwhelming. Divots were blasted in the concrete wharf, small chunks of grey ricochetting off of your hull, and disappointingly many of the people in front of you immediately fell over.
You really weren't impressed with meat-person damage control if just a few bits of false stone into the torso could take them down. These weren't Nazis after all, they shouldn't be total pushovers not when it was just
Puppy firing off a few shots!
The opposing ship-girl seemed to have moved under the cover of the blast's smoke and fury though, further opening the distance between you, and you were forced to break your pose to shield your face from the barrage of shots she let off in your direction.
It was probably because she was using such a small calibre weapon, but your opponent certainly wasn't sparing the ammo as she kept up her rate of fire. Having broken your pose though you saw no reason to just stand still and take it though so you charged towards her, alternating darting to the left and the right to try and throw off her firing solution.
Like the relentless tide of the night (except with more dodging) you closed in to quash this example of goodness and light, her slow backing away doing little to let her avoid your UNHOLY WR-
The explosion hit you like the hammer of god.
Your shoulders hit the ground, scraping against it briefly after your sudden and unplanned flight caused you to encounter it, but then you were tumbling as the world whirled around you.
"
Oh," You thought to yourself as your tumble ended and you groggily stood up again, "
So this is what being seasick is like..."
If you had been on water you'd have had no problem with riding out the boom, but on land you couldn't seem to put down your full weight without hurting your feet. It was really unfair but you didn't have time just now to figure out how to get around that. You had to be a brave and powerful figure who shrugged off such a minor setback and strode forward to win the battle.
First though...
"
You can stop firing now, Puppy!" You called over the radio while looking for where your opponent had gotten to. "
That second barrage was just a little too close..."
"
But- but I only fired one barrage!" Puppy protested, sounding confused and hurt, "
I didn't shoot more than that, honest!"
Her words hardly had time to registered before another blast hit you, flinging you forwards and away from the waters of the bay. Your landing was even less impressive this time as you ened up sliding belly first over the concrete and into one of the meat-people who had been on the ground but not yet sunk.
A Dark Lady of immense power and unmatched prowess did not eww.
She bathed in the blood of her enemies and took their skulls for trophies.
Therefore she would be unperturbed by the sticky wet feel of it against her skin.
Despite knowing all that you really, really wanted to splash yourself with nice clean salt water. You had blood all over the front of your and bits of
meat were
clinging in places you didn't like...
Despite the dizziness from being sent tumbling again you pushed yourself up immediately, placing more distance between yourself and the red smear on the ground, and tried to locate your foe. The earlier damage to your radar was really inconvenient now as it might have given you a clue as to where this girl had gotten to.
The vague groans of the few unsunk meat people were background noise, the combination of Puppy's shots and the strange explosions not having done much for their health, but you couldn't even see where the rest of them had gotten to let alone the location of the ship-girl. There weren't that many cargo containers close by to provide cover after all...
Part of your mind was racing as you tried to fit together what had happened. The explosions. The sudden absence of the ship-girl faster than she should have been able to clear the area. A grin came to your lips as you did your best to be Awesome By Analysis.
Then you had it.
She had to be using a bit of her rigging after all!
It all came together so neatly. She was obviously pulling a trick the opposite of manifesting her proper tonnage, somehow keeping it low even as she fired off single shots from some of her armament. She was letting herself zoom around like she was rocket propelled or something, going faster than you could see as she was propelled by the recoil.
Now that you knew her secret you grinned and prepared yourself, happily distracted from the drippling bits of meat and goo slowly sliding down your pale skin. It'd have been more practical to actually shoot at you, but you couldn't help except admire her dedication to being cool. Not that you didn't plan on sinking her, but you'd be sure to give a really good one-liner to make her end memorable.
Dropping into a more stable stance you took on more of your tonnage, barely managing not to wince at the feel of pressing on the dry land in a way which felt unpleasently like being beached. You prepared yourself, forcing yourself to relax enough that you weren't too stiff to react, then waited.
Like a part of the eternal night or death itself you could wait forever. Not that you had to as just a couple of seconds later another explosion buffeted you.
This time you were ready for it and while it felt like a painful you weren't tossed aside like a rubby duckie on a storm swept sea this time!
(A small part of you took one look at that mental analogy and facepalmed.)
The ship-girl just appeared next to you, having obviously appeared faster than your eyes could follow (damn it, you wanted your radar back online!). She was within arms reached, close enough that you could see the way that sweat was making the crimson streaks painted on her face run a little, and you wasted no time in taking advantage of that before she could blast off again.
Your hands latched onto her forearms, squeezing and twisting, but while she was almost as tough as you expected you were stronger enough to do squeeze and crush and not let g-
