Of Lords and their Legions (A Necron Overlord Quest)

that's for you to negotiate for.

More times than not Dynasties in exile don't have that much to offer and are seen as destabilizing influences. Therefore only dynasties with very strong relationships generally host them.

He however has a fleet, and has the authority to make binding deals. so discussions can be a bit more two sided than the norm.

Basically works fine, just make sure garrison forces are at least peer to his fleet.
I worry about the costs of upkeeping his fleet though, since he has no holdings to support them with.

Hmm, might actually work out if he privateers on the Imperium to offset his upkeep, while we provide the facilities. We'd still need to pay but the hard part is in raw materials

So Jornakh is the same rank as us and not a subordinate?

He is a subordinate, but is also an overlord in his own right. You don't know if Thotep knows the peculiarities of your arrangement or not

If he is knowledgeable however. A technical reading of his statements is correct as your division of powers gives you 3/4 of the planet and Jornakh 1/4 thus he avoids insulting either. He could have also stated it in this way so that if you refused his offer, Jornakh could accept instead. Alternatively, it could be an opening gambit to insult you and promote Jornakh by implying that you are both equals. Or any mix of the three

Also moratorium is over, feel free to vote

What an interesting turn of events! Well meeting costs us nothing, hopefully we can parlay shelter in return for lending us some extra ships to fight the incoming Imperial Crusade.

[X] Meet with the prince

I suppose we could use his ships, but it would be very awkward providing upkeep and/or a anchorage for raiding. I don't suppose he's looking to subordinate himself to us when he has so much firepower?

He probably won't try to overthrow us, the other Lords would probably be very displeased if he did, instead he'll probably try to make us agree to take back the domain of Agrekh'un from the Orks.
Yep, probably.
I'm worried about that word, not by much, but a bit, especially with our ever ambitious son hanging around.
We probably should provide him asylum, promise to give some aid to retake his domain, but also require him to first help safeguard and expand ours so we can get a proper fleet going before we do that.

Yeah. In all fairness, we need to get established to the point where we can take down the orks.

On the other hand, he can't really replace losses to his fleet or troops. So we might need to be in a position to guarantee him something along those lines.

He is free to go somewhere else.
We are under threat of the imperium, we need ships, if he is unwilling to help, we may not be here to help him either.

Not necessarily. He's also on a timetable before his ships maintenance comes due and he would have to cannibalize his hulls, a risky thing to do once his Captains realize that they could just swear to us instead. No, he needs this deal much much more then we do.

Which was my exact point, he either starts a war here, goes somewhere else, or offers his ships to our aid.
Because we can't aid him without more ships to push out the imperium and taking more of a resource base.

? But you said he was free to go somewhere else, which he can't. Not without cutting into his fleet. He has no Anchorage to resupply. An undeclared attack on us would not amount to much as he lacks the ground army necessary to take the facilities needed to maintain his fleet, that and the specialized Necrons to operate said Anchorage. We have the better hand by far in negotiations.

Yes, he is.
It is almost certainly going to end with him dead, but he is, technicly, free to go elsewhere.

Remember necrons are functionally immortal. He'd be in no hurry to retake his domain however much he'd like to.

...I suspect he'd try to persuade us to make an anti ork superweapon.

While he may be "Free" to go anywhere, he cannot pay travel expenses for his fleet. That and he would be loath to let the Orks settle his crown world and fortify it. My guess, he wants our help in reclaiming his crown world and pay his maintenance fees, in return for his assistance in helping us conquer the sector.

@Lonkas I just had an idea: Could we have Nevenoch modify the Fellowship's Bane to give it a second mode: Leader mind reading
Since the Fellowship's Bane has to read the mind of every organic in the system, surely we could use it to know exactly what enemy leaders are planning and their deployments, thus giving us a massive advantage in combat since we know exactly what the enemy is doing
