[X] Direct assault on Kaisov 4 - The planet likely plays host to their extra system communication apparatus, assaulting it now makes it much more likely that we will stop any immediate reinforcements over the next few days.

[X] Capture and control - Our industry has reached its breaking point and we come here to rectify this issue. Capture every ship that is possible so you may devour it like a vulture upon a bloated corpse and avoid damage to civilian infrastructure. You will have need of it in the wars to come

The Assault on Kaisov
Gallum Rex = 47 + (22*3) = 113
Sovenkh of Zis = 72 + (19*3) - 20 (Capture and Control) = 109
Levnekh re roll = 75 + (19*3) - 20 (Capture and Control) = 112
Draw - Mildly painful Yulenoth victory, small delay creates an opportunity for transmission

"And this is what you saw?' The auspex officer's display had been shifted onto the strategic viewscreen and Commodore Gallum Rex looked intently at what he was being shown.

The aging lieutenant bobs his head nervously "Yes milord, i've seen plenny o' strange things in my time on the auspex sir. Normally wouldn't trouble your lordship o'er it, but i had the cogman have a look at the spirits of the scopes. He reckons they're all clear sir." onscreen a dozen or so extremely faint signatures rapidly decelerate from beyond lightspeed heading for his system. Normally this would bring the system to full alert. But the readings are far too anomalous to not rule out simple malfunction.

"Yes, you were right to see me roused" and indeed the data being shown onscreen is troubling. "nothing can break the lightspeed barrier, even in the dark age that rule held sacrosanct, in realspace at least, is there anything steller happening in that direction?"

A midshipwoman chirps up "nothing interesting that way sir, least till you get to Obscurus. Even then there's just a few quasars here and there." Gallum raised his eyebrow questioningly, with a small smirk on his face and she ducked her head a fraction. "A passing interest milord, there's little else of interest to see at this posting"

The commodore nodded but something still niggled at him "bring up a sector map with all activity from noteworthy to extremis on it, go back let's say 5 decades, mayhaps some warp phenomenon is occurring" the lesser officers busied themselves for a moment and the strategic view changed. A map of the sector appeared with a few dozen orange markers, several red and finally three black marks spread across it. "Narrow the scope, give me 45° cone with those signatures at the center. The map focused to a point, widening in the direction of the recorded signatures. a few red markers of alpha level importance were further out but his eyes were drawn to the black mark only a few systems distant, at the edge of the cone. He felt a sliver of fear worm its way into his chest. "Shreeders folly" he breaths as he remembers reading the reports of the impossible ships that fought seven years ago.

"Show me the projected course of those readings!" The midshipwoman moved quickly as the cogitators extrapolated the route the ships were taking them. The line streaked out as the solar system's rotation was simulated in accelerated time. Kaisov 4 and the projected path getting closer and closer until they intersected. right next to the capital of not only the system, but the entire sub sector. "Overlay projected route with minefield placements". Again the display flickered as vast clouds of mines filled the void. Several layers are placed between Sheeders folly and Kaisov, but the route the signatures took threaded the needle even through the pseudo random minefield redeployment's.

he presses the shipwide vox . "All hands to battlestations, we expect combat in the next few hours, this is not a drill." he turned to his wider bridge who were all staring in shock. "Detach the cruiser's umbilicals and have them ready for battle. Form monitors up in epsilon formation, we need active auger sweeps five minutes ago."

His bridge slowly slips into activity as the crew gradually get over their shock. The venerable stations superstructure groaning as the plasma core rapidly heats

"A decapitation strike?" He mutters after a moment and again turns to his vox officer again as remembering the reports of the force that smote one of the sector's entire battlefleets. "Contact the governor!, i dont care if she's sleeping or fucking, we're about to be in a fight to the death!" He turned back to the timer showing the time until Kaisov 4 intersected with the Xenos's path and muttered "May the emperor guide us"

Still decelerating several million kilometres distant, alerts began to be transmitted to Sovenkhs ships, he nods grimly, and turns to his lord. "We are discovered, but the hour of their doom has come regardless. The fleet is at readiness and teleport bay 1 bay has been put aside for your use during the battle" You nod and rise from your throne, your black immortals snapping to attention as you do so. "Sweep them from the sky Nemessor, our hour is come"

-------------------------------

Gallum Rex waits tensely for the next wave of enemy vessels to begin their assault. Each sweep had gutted his vessels, though he had at least extracted a small toll in revenge. None of his guns could hope to bring down the enemy cruiser and so hard were the hides of even the Dauntless sized vessels that he had dedicated everything to simply whittling down the escorts. His station, the "Grand Bulwark" combined with the monitor augur sweeps allowed him to somewhat track the enemy vessels and wasteful though it was, focussed fire had seen three of the smallest enemy vessels smashed to ruin. The enemy however, had shown no wastefulness. Surgical strikes from lightning flashes tore down shields. Then horrid skeletal giants would teleport into the depths of the vessels preventing any scuttling methods from taking place. For what dread purpose they needed these ships he did not know but he would be damned if he allowed them any more prizes.

Though he had kept it defiant he knew his line was flagging. Even with his battlestation standing near unharmed, his fleet, such as it had been was whittled down to 5 ships. Even with his prior methods he doubts he could bring down a further escort. But each second he held allowed the guard below to ready for the onslaught, allowed the governor more time to sound the warnings.

His vox officer suddenly shouts, relief flooding his voice. "My lord!, Governor Scraxis has sounded the alarm, the astropaths are gathering!"

Gallum snarls in triumph, the sector would know that these monsters were not going to sit in their backwater any longer. "how long do they need before a signal is sent?".

The officer exchanges a few sentences before hurriedly responding. "Half an hour my lord, the longer they have the better, but at least that long"

Gallum nods and turns to his master at arms. "send all armsmen to the reactor core, they are to hold it as long as possible" The man salutes and begins issuing orders

He then turns to the master of the machines, his ambassador to the machine cultists. "Set the plasma core to overload. If they want our ships so much they'll have to come take them"

--------------------------

You remove your warscythe from the shriveled corpse below you and watch as the last of this ships guard are atomised by your Immortals. You nod and a lesser lord begins interfacing with the primitive ship. Ceasing its self destruction as his mere mind overpowers the archaic computations of the entire vessel. Suddenly Sovenkh reaches out to you across the void

"My lord we've intercepted a transmission, they're attempting to alert the sector!"

Irritation stabs at you, you had hoped to avoid this exact circumstance "can we block them, jam their signal?"

"Overlord, i'm afraid their transmission seems aetheric in nature, their 'astropaths' gather in the bowels of their capital which has raised void shields, if we gather the fleet we could likely destroy them before they may transmit. but we have just discovered their vessels are attempting self extinction, if we abandon the fight, we will lose their hulls."

A dozen curses go through your mind, their commander had identified your greed and exploited it well. But as you glance around surroundings, at your bodyguards standing silent and attentive, a way to cut this knot occurs to you. "Nemessor, how long would it take to merely make the shields flicker, long enough for a single teleportation to get through."

Your Nemessor brightens as he follows your reasoning. "Not an extreme amount of time my lord, but it will still distract the fleet, we may achieve neither goal"

You with some losses are winning the battle. But the enemy is attempting to send a transmission to the wider sector, you can interrupt this but give time for the remaining vessels to scuttle themselves and become worthless to you. Or you may remain and ensure the vast majority of salvage falls into your hand. Finally you could grab for both objectives but risk losing both

[ ] The system must fall silent, with nary a trace, the imperials must not know what occurred here. Destroy the astropaths, silence the call

[ ] While allowing the Imperials knowledge carries risk, the imperiums attention is split many ways. We need material more than we need to avoid their attention.

Unlocked by Levnekh supporting the invasion
Unlocked by black immortal bodyguard

[ ] Breach the shields long enough to teleport you and your bodyguard into the fray. Allowing you to both kill the astropaths and allow the fleet to snuff the fuse of the enemies self destruction. Though there is the chance that even you are not swift enough to slay the astropaths and your fleet may be too occupied by battering down the shield to incapacitate the enemy vessels.

Lets leverage our unique advantages and go for gold. If people dont like that option we should go radio silence instead. We have 3 inhabited planets to conquer and we are going to need as much time as we can get to solidify our grip on them.

Also, was going to say that I love that our victory over that imperial fleet way back has clearly gone down in local military history as an infamous event.

Being a phantom menace is fun!

why our opponents always competent

also @Lonkas you forgot to threadmark

It's actually quite interesting reading up on imperial navy ranks. Sure with the guard and the administration not caring about how the regiment is run you can get quite high in it while still being a noble twat or just lucky.

The navy however requires you to be a lieutenant for quite a few years before you even have the chance to make captain. So if you male it to Commodore you've actually been in the navy for 30 - 40 years at least and been fighting a heap of battles on the way. Then there are admirals and so on.

So yeah don't expect extreme Nepotism levels of competency out of the navy above the rank of captain.

On the other hand you have to remember that Sovenkh wasn't a general. He is getting better and has lots of opportunities to improve. But he started out as an administrator under Anukharthic who had an amateurs interest in warfare. Only selected because your original Nemenesor and his advisors died over the great sleep

Being ancient immortal space Egyptians, I am fairly sure that we can quickly kill whatever regular human defenders will try to stop us. If there were Space Marines or an Inquisitor here then hell no but against normies with Lasguns and a few heavy weapons we've got good odds.
You mean Nemesor?

In for a penny, in for a pound. Hopefully we can stop the astropaths in time or this would've all been for naught.

Deep striking the astropaths
Seeming that the votes by and large favour one option and i already have this written, i may as well post it

Battering down the shields
DC 20/50/70

In only a single pass

Sovenkh watches as his fleet burns toward the planet and falls toward the atmosphere, inertialess drives allowing the ships to perform maneuvers far outside their supposed size or mass. The ships aim toward the capital city "Pocolt" surrounded by a mostly translucent dome of purplish energy, thick overlapping fields forming a near impenetrable barrier to even starship weaponry, occasional heavy ordinance burst forth from the city, but it has barely been roused as of yet, so for the moment the defensive fire amounts to little.

Still, the primitive defenses would take some time to defeat.... Unless, that is his suppositions held true. Sovenkh had held council with Nevanoch as she disassembled the void shield generators of the imperial invasion and learned of their function. Discovering that these generators refreshed themselves every few milliseconds when under fire allowing, it to redistribute power according to where the damage was most being done. Strengthening the shield in one place and weakening it in another.

Therefore he had planned two separate attack runs to be conducted near simultaneously by his vessels, the remaining escorts coming in from the north and The Reapers Due with its accompanying cartouches approaching from the south. Of course, damaging the shield in this way wouldn't force it to collapse in the same way that sufficient damage could. Indeed only if the shield was damaged at the exact moment where it was weakest in its next refresh cycle would it cause any significant effect. But should the timing be perfect, the shields should flicker slightly until the following refresh cycle milliseconds later.

Of course in his deliberations with the cryptek he had also discovered that the refresh rate for void shields were variable, with multiple different times recorded across hull type and origin. But, he had reason to believe that he knew this city's void shield timing. He had monitored the shields of the foes he fought in orbit, testing what he had learned with Nevanoch as he battered them down. He had discovered that the "standard" escorts and cruisers of the so called imperial navy had near randomized timings aaccording to size and make. However, The defense stations and defence monitors all possessed the same delay. It seemed that all shielding systems built for this world used the same style of Void shield. So he watches hoping that his guess holds true as the Reaper and her escorts lash out at the city imperceptibly before the escorts do so on the other side.

There! As the second volley hits. Suddenly the purple shrouds over the city fades from view to be replaced only a fraction of a second later. Sovenkh is filled with smug satisfaction as his fleet returns to orbit and he sees that teleport pad one lies empty. Only a single pass being required to do what his foe likely believed would take far more.

How close to the Astropaths do you land
= 1d100 = Learning
= 97 + 21 = 118
Pretty much on top of them

You can tell that the scars of the humans war against the machines run deep, for their network is near impenetrable. Not for their skill in encryption or your lack thereof but simply by how compartmentalised the information and servers seem to be. Yet it avails them little with the amount of separate data probes you send into innumerable servers planetside. From radio wave chatter to security camera footage you loot all the information you can about the cities layout while Sovenkh begins his attack run. Collating the information about these mysterious astropaths and parsing it through to The Reapers Due's Canoptic core. Soon enough you are provided with a record of the various astropaths travels as they conduct their daily life. Delving further your draw out any cycle to their activities and sure enough every month the 'choir' as they are referred to, make their way to the palace, which you note acts as the administrative heart of their world. You're tempted to chuckle as you realize these humans may not after all be complete barbarians.

Looking further through the astropaths personal purchases, requisitions and belongings, while also monitoring the inventories of the palace. You find that certain incenses and psionic devices are kept both by the astropaths, and one certain storeroom within the palace's below ground complex. Finally, you are able to pull up the power usage of various rooms within that region and identify that one certain room nearby has started drawing tremendous power and has remained constant in its consumption as of eleven minutes ago. You target the teleportation matrix to aim for the room directly adjacent and wait fully ten seconds before the green glow of the active teleporter surrounds you. Only to deposit you moments later on the metal floor of a large chamber, surrounded by a stunned assortment of relatively well armed humans.

The Room is quite large but is near bare of all adornment, some stonelike composite material composes the walls and ceilings, while the metallic floor was certainly some steel derivative. The only point of interest to the structure was the huge vault-like door, which glowed the same purple brightness of the city's void shield. nearly fifty men guard each of the approaches to the room, garbed in thick green armor which seemed partly powered. They had been setting up sandbags it seemed, with professional efficiency and were busy preparing some heavy weaponry before you arrived. Far more impressive were the ten humans clad in true power armour in front of the vault door. Each bore a powered weapon crackling with energy upon their waist and carried a cumbersome and extremely large bore rifle.

To be fair to the humans, they reacted with the reflexes of true veterans. Immediately raising or drawing their weapons. Alas they faced a full century of black immortals prepared for arrival and green flashed through the stark white halls. The forces guarding the door last a bare few seconds longer than their compatriots, their weapons firing two stage rockets into your midnight black guards. But before your eyes their armour is breached and their flesh gives way first to bone and finally nothingness as they fall, leaving the room silent and empty save for you.

You gesture and several immortals move to cover the approaches while the rest turn their weapons upon the sealed vault door, but despite the efficacy of their guns, they still pit infantry weapons against defenses built to defend against guns magnitudes greater in scale than their own. Still you hear an imperceptible whine begin to grow louder and higher as they continue the assault. You however, do not have time to wait, every second wasted is a second they could spend escaping or sending a message. You activate the warscythe given to you millions of years millions of years ago by the praetorians of the triarch, and wield it in anger for the first time.

As the midnight blade touches the outer shell of the vault, you watch the shield flair from translucent to near opaque in only a matter of seconds and hear the whine turn from near imperceptible to deafening. Then, with all the might of your enhanced warframe, you plunge it through the shield which audibly shatters and shove the blade into the door itself. Its admantinium frame begins to buckle and decay in moments as inky black tendrils reach out from the blade to plunge into the door and seemingly twist and rust that which should be nearly impermeable to the passage of time.

Mere seconds pass as the door seemingly disintegrates before your eyes falling to dust as if eons had passed rather than merely seconds. You step through the rapidly expanding cloud of dust to be faced with a terrified audience. Seven blinded figures look unerringly toward you while a tall and regally dressed (for a human) woman stands with two guards in powered armour, and raises a pistol but refrains from firing, the woman's hand trembling as she beholds you majesty.

Stopping the Astropaths from killing themselves
1d100 + martial
= 74 +13 = 87

Suddenly a flurry of motion occurs from one of the blinded figures as she draws a knife and immediately plunges it into her heart. However, before any of the rest can even try you have several black immortals move to restrain them. The astropaths struggles incapable of moving the immortals carapace. You then turn and look toward the face you've seen on a dozen statues and pictures throughout her city.

"Governor Scraxis, you were not a prize i was expecting, but certainly one i shall cherish."

The governor has sharp features and long red hair bound into a braid, and despite her tall but waif-like frame, she seems to be holding her rather large pistol with relative ease. A cursory scan indicates that she has a fair few augmentations, quite cleanly done as well baring their technological crudity. She watches you and takes several deep breaths before responding. "Your going to be stopped, i don't know how you got in here but i know Pocolts shields are still up, and as long as that's true your outnumbered thousands to one"

Your darkly amused at her outburst, she had yet to fully understand her situation. "These are the triarchs elite, mortal. On a thousand worlds against a thousand foes they have marched. I would throw them happily against those odds and expect them to come out on top but today I may not have to, your city will fall over the next few days. Whether by my forces or by your order. Your only choice now is how many will die in the interim" Outside the chamber you hear a brief exchange of gunfire quickly silenced by a flash of green light.

Her guards shift uneasily as she responds. "And have loyal imperials become slaves under.. Hereteks?" her look changes to confusion as she looks at you and your soldiers "Xenos… soulless machines? .. Who are, what are you?

You right yourself into a more regal posture and announce. "I am Levnekh, overlord of the Yulenoth and the Sirano… soon to be master of Kaisov. As to what we are. We are the Necrons, come to reclaim that which is rightfully ours. The victors of the war in heaven and the inheritors of this new galaxy" Again, scattered fire occurred outside the vault, but this time it lasted fully half a minute before the immortals had dealt with the interlopers.

She slowly adopts a smirking look as again gunfire picks up outside. "Well Levnekh, it seems the city knows where you are and what you've done. They'll come for you, hundreds of thousands of guardsmen. I don't care who you are or what you claim, only the emperor's angels could hold against what is coming. This was a bold plan, ill grant you that, so, if you surrender now ill keep you as a hostage to bargain away your fleet. If not, ill figure out whether your alien or machine, in the most painful way possible."

Thanks to an incredibly rapid alpha strike you have successfully captured several astropaths as well as the governess of the sub sector herself. However, now the military might of the entire city is falling down upon you. You have little doubt you can hold your current position but are there any other objectives you would like to accomplish while Sovekh deals with the enemy fleet. You can try to accomplish multiple objectives, but splitting up your forces does make them weaker and makes accomplishing their tasks more difficult

Also there seems to be more to that warscythe than you had originally thought (research option unlocked)

The Astropaths

[ ] Keep some forces in the Astropathic chamber and hold the astropaths there in relative safety and security

[ ] Move the astropaths with you as you go about your tasks

The governess

[ ] Attempt to convince the governess that resistance truly is futile, you have need of this city and would rather not see it demolished before you seize the planet

[ ] The governess does not truly understand her position, place her within your tesseract labyrinth to ensure she remains with you regardless of how your mission progresses

Objectives

[ ] The Void Shields. Locate and destroy the void shield generators ensuring reinforcements can come fast and in great numbers to support you

[ ] The Palace. Secure the palace, its documents and servers to ensure that you capture all possible information about the sub sector

[ ] The Anti Orbital batteries. To get close to the city the ships must run a gauntlet of anti orbital defenses. They should be able to easily get in and out but the potential remains that some could be shot down. Best remove the chance entirely

[ ] The Generals, it's quite likely that the planet's best generals were located within the capital. Hunt down all high ranking military men you

Long story short is you guys have rolled extremely well for Kaisov so far and while i'm sure i wont get complaints about it, i'm just gonna post your roles regardless to show i'm not cheating in your favor

Hmm, I suppose we don't have any mind shackle scarabs on hand? A mind controlled Planetary Governor broadcasting a surrender would be very useful.

Mind controlled sub sector governor...

But no, unfortunately you guys didn't take them either in character creation or make a factory for them over the timeskip.

One thing I forgot to mention though. Black immortals are non renuable assets. If one is destroyed and fails to self repair it will return as a regular immortal without it's Triarch upgrades. Just something to keep in mind. That is until you guys figure them out
