It was like you were in a trace!
Were you really in a trace?
' trance'?
Your heart was beating rapidly as the creature seem flew through the air towards you.
'seemed to flow'?
While it you couldn't make out its form you could tell that it was flailing about, trying to strike at anything living that might be close to it.
Probably unnecessary
You vehemently resist the urge to grin or giggle in jubilation, all for this divinely inspired art you were crafting with your own lips!
Well, good thing we didn't start crafting art with our hands.

For the moment, the idea is to reconnect with the rest of the group, I am not liking how the creature tried to separate us. If anyone, Eli will be back once he realizes his fiancee is not coming.

[X] Carry Danielle to safety.
-[X] Pick up the pepper spray can.

Da! And what better way comrade to go down then locked in mortal combat with the beast of legends! XD
Ha! Naive, comrade! The better way is to get surrounded by a pack of them, then call a pepper strike on our position. Speshul Tactics will carry the day!

[X] Carry Danielle to safety.
-[X] Pick up the pepper spray can.
-[X] Shout for the others to get back and help you.

Shouting in case the others haven't noticed that you and Danielle have been left behind.

A dumb action.....welp.

[ ] Try to get Danielle to regain consciousness.
Maybeeee???? It might be futile tho, considering her injuries. in which case, would we have just wasted an action???

[ ] Carry Danielle to safety.
I..don't know if we can???? Are we even strong enough???? I guess I prefer this????

[ ] Leave Danielle and get yourself to safety.
like, this is probably the one where we can get off free? But it fucking sucks, cause she stepped in for us and I refuse. this option sucks, and should feel bad.

[ ] Attack the creature while it is vulnerable.
is it vulnerable tho. is it.

once again, my paranoia has outdone itself.

so-

For decision making purposes, it might be useful to imagine the creature as a bear cub, or a puma. It has enough mass to knock a person out by colliding into them. And now it is flailing wildly.
While you couldn't make out its form you could tell that it was flailing about, trying to strike at anything living that might be close to it.
Even if it were a mere beast we were dealing with, would you willingly approach one with a knife and a pepper spray can?

Hm, I wonder if it is afraid of fire.

I, too, am concerned about attacking a thrashing monster with a knife.

For everyone saying we should shout for the others: As much as I'd love to get back to the others ASAP, our major advantage here is that the creature at least seems to be blinded. The last thing we want to do is broadcast our location to one of its fully functioning sentences.

We want to carry another person and move as quickly as possible through a forest at night. We will be very loud anyway. And we need the others. Unless Medea is a lot tougher than I imagine, she can't really carry Danielle far. In addition, Medea can't really see well, as it will be bloody hard use a flashlight while carrying Danielle.

Hmm, I start to wonder whether trying to wake up Danielle isn't a better idea, anyway.

Chapter 11: Running Through the Dark
[X] Carry Danielle to safety.

You had no time to waste, you and Danielle were in danger while that thing was still close by and you don't have the time to try and coax Danielle back to consciousness. While the creature might be temporary blinded by the pepper spray, there was still a chance that the effects will dull while you try to wake Danielle up and then there would be no escape. No, you just need to get out of here.

But first, you need to grab the pepper spray can. You search Danielle's hand, but find that the can was missing. Panicked you begin searching the forest floor near your unconscious friend, but in the dark of the night you had difficulty in finding the small hand-held can. You mentally cursed, the can must have been flung away when the creature crashed into Danielle. There was no way you were going to find it now. You turn to look in the creature's direction; it was still screaming in anger, but its flailing was starting to die down.

"Time to go..."

You crouched down next to Danielle you sling her left arm around your shoulder, then you slip an arm behind her back and your other arm slips under her legs. You use your legs to push you body up, standing completely upright while carrying Danielle in a bridal carry. You strain trying to keep Danielle in your arms as her limp unconscious body was not helping matters as you try to balance out her weight by shifting her around. Surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult to lift her and hold her up. You've heard about real life instances where people in danger get a sudden boost in strength from adrenaline, but you can't exactly sit here and think of the science behind why you are able to near effortlessly lift your friend, you need to get out of here.

So you run. You run as fast as your legs can manage while holding up the weight of another. You ran in the direction you and Danielle were heading in before, but by now your friends had complete disappeared from view into the pitch black forest. You were sure they would turn back to come and look for the two of you, especially Eli, but you have no idea how long it will be until they noticed you've gotten separated.

"ELI! SIERRA! LUCAS!" You yell as loud as you could. "HELP! PLEASE, COME BACK AND HELP!"

The moment the words left your lips a horrific howl cuts through the air from far behind you. It was so loud that it almost sounded like it was going off right next to your ears, and was so unnatural sounding that you knew no living creature could possibly make it even if they tried. The closest analogy you could come up with was that it was more like lead slabs falling on a marble floor over and over again at the whims of a mad musician.

You knew it was from the thing that Danielle had blinded, but you weren't sure it it was because it heard you yelling or if the effects of the pepper spray had finally worn off and was now going to come after you again. Either way you did not want to find out. You started pushing you body harder, forcing it took move faster and causing your legs to scream in protest. But you pressed on, dashing through the dark forest and crushing undergrowth that happen to be in your path.

"God, I wish I had a flashlight right about now!"

"SOMEBODY! ANYBODY! HEEEEEELP!!!"

"MEDEA!"

You stop dead in your tracks and frantically start looking around. You are sure you just heard your name called, but you needed to be sure.

"ELI! SIERRA! LUCAS! WHERE ARE YOU?!"

"MEDEA! DANIELLE!"

You definitely heard someone call you! It was coming from some where a head of you! With no time to waste you began running forward again, now with renewed energy that you'll catch up with your friends! You feel like you've been running for miles by this point, you're so tired both you legs and your arms threaten to give out. But you need to keep going...

Eventually you run across a small bit of elevated terrain. Mentally you decided to mark this as a landmark in your really bad mental map. You walked around it, analyzing every detailed of it. It was like a miniature hill, being no more than ten, maybe thirteen feet high. On one side it seem to have a small alcove formed into, looking like a tiny cave. You squinted your eyes at the opening, trying to focus on it through the darkness. Judging from what you can see, it looked like it could fit two people inside, though it would be a bit of a tight squeeze.

Tearing your eyes away, you try to reorient yourself, and then you spot them. In the distance to your right you see the three beams of flashlights, no doubt your friends, moving back towards the way you came. A smile crept onto your face, you were nearly there. You turn your head in the direction you were previous headed in and the smile left your face. In the distance were more lights, but not the moving lights of a flashlight but stationary, more spaced out lights. They were the lights of a house.

"A house? All the way out here?"

You briefly wonder if your friend saw those lights too, but then realized you had all gotten separated. More curiously, you were just now noticing them...

But you don't have long to think about it as another horrific howl fills the night air. Terrified you look back towards the way you came, and although you don't see anything you hear the sounds of breaking wood and trees being uprooted as something begins tearing its way through the forest toward you at incredible speed.

You began looking around frantically, to your friends in the distance who are still trying to look for you, to the house in the distance, to the alcove next to you, to Danielle who still lays in your arms unconscious.

[ ] Make a run for your friends.

[ ] Make a run for the house in the distance.

[ ] Leave Danielle in the alcove while you go fetch your friends for help.

[ ] Hide in the alcove with Danielle and wait for the creature to pass.

[ ] Leave Danielle in the alcove and use yourself as bait to lure the creature away from her and your friends.

[X] Make a run for your friends.

Seems like the only good choice
going towards a house you just noticed most likely a trap by the creepy house they just left
Leave Danielle most likely going to be grabbed by the monster and killed
Trying to both fit in the alcove chance the monster finds them and they have no move to maneuver to get away
Acting as bait usually doesn't end well for the bait

In literally any other questions I'd chose one of these options and rely on Plot Armour, but something tells me that'd be a BAD IDEA here.

We literally just got out of a creepy house in the woods. No thank you.

We cam try the house once we're reunited, if need be, but safety in numbers takes priority.
